Posted 13 years agoSorry it has been a while since I've made a new journal, I'm mainly on twitter (@Blade_Wyng is my furry art account on there) and have been otherwise distracted with getting ready for the convention.
If you want to find me, I have a dealer's table! Find me at the Phoenix 3 Workshop table in the Dealer's room.
I will be bringing a lot of Impers with me, the standard, some sheep, as well as Bunny and MerImper styled ones. Maybe one or two other species, though not sure at this time. I will have some of my needlefelted items, some ATC/ACEOs already made and maybe a couple of other things.
I will accept certain transformers for Art...as for what the barter value is will be determined by transformer, but I won't be doing this for everything.
So, hope to see you there!

A handful of rants
Posted 14 years agoI find myself annoyed by those that decide to speak against a group of people because it seems to be the trendy thing to do.
It is rather annoying when people say that this group or that group are all crazy when they watch cartoons that are of that genre.
Take those that usually bash on the furry fandom, they ten dot be ones that watch shows that have anthropomorphic characters in them such as Bugs Bunny, any of the my little ponies, the carebears, Kung Fu Panda, as well as Transformers. Yes, I lump Transformers in with the anthro things because what is Optimus Prime, a truck cab brought to life as a sentient robot. One should not hate a fandom if there are shows like these involved and watched by those that do not consider themselves "furries." Yes, I am quite aware that there are extremists in every group and Furries have their fair share of bad apples in the bunch. However, being in the subgenre of fandoms of Transformers, they have their fair share as well. The same with the bronies.
I do find it rather sad when I have to reevaluate how I see someone when they seem like a rather open and thoughtful individual and they turn around and act rather closeminded to another fandom because someone else said it first.
-=-=-
I was going to go with a title of "Since nobody reads this anyways" but that would've sounded even whinier than intended as well as trying to stroke an ego of whether or not there were readers let alone perhaps the handful of those that comment. So, I decided against it.
-=-=-
I used to like Formspring until the Formspring roleplayers killed it for me. I was (still am) part of the original TFARP that occurred on Twitter when Transformers Animated was airing, along with many others, one of the writers of the Allspark Almanac guided us along in Roleplay where we got it to the end of the mythic fourth season. Things are still going along with the RP, however, a decent portion have decided to go off to Formspring. That isn't what annoyed me the most. It is those roleplayers that decided that they are better than everyone because their RP is bigger...with not much substance in it.
I have tried to get involved in it as well as others, but what annoys me the most are the promises of "Yes, you can take your time with answering." and instead of being able to do so, one must be focused on the screen because if you don't answer right away, you miss most of the action. There are those that have complained about the twitter RP being too quick and demanding, well guess what pot, you're the same way.
-=-=-
On a lighter note, I have dropped two pants sizes, or a little more, since April.
I'm thankful for those that I can consider my friends.

Posted 14 years agoSorry it has been a while since I've posted anything. Life has been a bit busy over the summer and into fall, it hasn't slowed.
I've been doing a lot, tired a lot and just trying to catch up on things.
I hate how behind I am on some things.
I hate how I can't find other things that will help me with what I need to get done.
I've visited my Nana's grave.
I've been in the Pentagon...and had shrimp and grits to eat.
I've demonstrated needlefelting and spinning. I now have an Ashford Kiwi that I can use, it is a double treadle and a lot more portable than my Ashford Traditional.
I've been assisting a guy in an nursing home with reorganizing his room.
I've been sewing.
I've been the one at the helm of a 50ft sailing vessel, steering it out of harbor, up the Californian coast and back to harbor thanks to my uncle deciding I needed to have the experience.
I got to be one of the only two in a room that wasn't blond when my family got together...of course in that same get together, everyone but mom was taller than me.
The re-emergence of my nickname "Mangula" reemerged after mom had lapband (in April) and I insisted on walking with her. Since she had started to lose weight (last year after being taken off of avandia) she is down 75lbs and a couple of sizes.
I had to retire the big purple fluffy hat. It was falling apart. However, I do have other hats that I have found and am enjoying.
I visited the cousins and got to see my brother covered in mud due to their ATVing. Also got to see many corvettes in a single area that wasn't a car show.
Went to a Spin in one month and saw how flax was readied to spin and got to see an angora lap goat...which my cousin now has two.
Went to a Knit in and needlefelted. Got a girl into needlefelting.
Created Impers to go to a store in Roanoke, VA.
Got to see a friend of mine's mom (whom I also consider a second mom) that I haven't seen in an age and she's looking really good.
...and that's just a little bit of what I've done all summer.

Current works of projects:
Posted 14 years agoAlright, summer looks like this: mainly a bundle of traveling and trying to do what I owe...I am also working on pieces that I'm going to toss into my etsy store. (blade.etsy.com)
So, we will see more impers, more needlefelted things, more drawings (in most cases) and other things.
I hate being behind as I was, I will be honest, I did hit a bit of a slump where I hated what I did and when I did work on something, it was mainly to work on my own skills to keep them up.
...and it seems that i have another birthday coming up. Didn't i just have one last year? Here's for hoping that it is a good one this year, letting my dad take me out for my birthday dinner this year and hoping that he doesn't ruin my birthday again...yes again. Those that are in the know, know.
I also want to try writing a book, mainly one on needlefelting. Just have to figure out how to write it how I want to due to often getting writer's block when sitting down to write.

FAU a gogo
Posted 14 years agoAye, I'm going to be at FAU this year, just like last year and the first two. Been looking forward to it, even though May was a rather busy eventful month every year for me between that, Maryland Sheep and wool and the increase (well more than there had been) in work for me...and Prep...oh my goodness the prep...
If you wanna find me, I will be in the dealer's room hoping that people will want to adopt an adorable little Imper or have a parfait of their own. I will have some of my needlefelted items with me, and I might be doing badges and ATC/ACEOs.
I may do trading of my items for transformers, however, I'm very specific (re: picky) in/about what I want (as in, what's out right now on the shelves I've already done my picking through.)
-black Rodimus
-Universe Sideswipe (not movie)
-female transformers.
-botcon 2003 Sunstreaker
-botcon 2003 Sideswipe
Though the ones that I'm listing are ones that most won't be wanting to part with as easily as most of the ones that are out currently.
As the days get closer, I will give out better information on what tablecloth to look for to find me since I retired -THE HAT-...I still wear mainly a purple one though.
----
I am bad with names. Sometimes I can remember faces...so if I'm blanking, I apologize ahead of time.

Group names for Impers: gots it.
Posted 14 years agothere are a few that I am considering and here they are:
Imperial(s)
Impression
Improbable
Musing
Parfait
I do have a couple of favorites in that listing so still trying to figure out which I like the best.
The reason why I'm trying to figure out a group name for them is due to animals in the wild have group names, and as I write this part sleepily it felt and sounded so much better in my head.
[2011.05.15]
Alrighties, since I tend to be inspired by desserts (Mint Moochi, Wafer...) the normal sized ones are going to be called in their group, a parfait.
The group type that are a little larger will be called a Musing of Impers.
Huge one group type will most likely be called an Improbable...because that amuses me right now.
can we tell that I'm writing this update when I'm way past tired? X3

I'm not dead...
Posted 14 years ago...just been working on stuff.
FaU's in a few (couple of?) months and I've actually been working on stuff for selling at my table there.
Been working on other things as well.
I haven't been subbing as much since they don't call me, which really sucks, wish that I was called a little more often so that I can actually make some money from that since I've whined about other things that makes it complicated.
Created a little miniplush that I'm going to be selling at FAU (though they will also be on etsy) called "Impers" I will be posting pictures of them on here as well as having progress shown on things on my tumblr (http://dementedpixie.tumblr.com/) when I get things back up to speed. (the tumblr updates maybe five times daily with what I have backlogged, so it does get a bit busy)
Oh and go visit http://www.etsy.com/shop/callykarishokka every so often. She's a sweetie who makes little plush known as Puggles which are all sewn by hand.

Posted 15 years agodang, and even more since this is the second incarnation, I believe, of the site. I do enjoy FA, even if I have my art up on other sites, I believe that exposure is good.
I just wanted to get that other journal off the front.
Oh and right now, I'm sick, having been sleeping most of the day and have a heating pad because I've also been in pain.

More COWbell please
Posted 15 years agoHey y'all. I have decided once and for all that I am sick of choosing "Mammals / Other" As my species. FA should have a cow tab!!! I WANT A FREAKING COW TAB! So, I am making free icons for everyone who posts the following in a journal, and titles it something that will make people read it and spread it around.
"Furaffinity needs a Bovine species tab for the cow/bull furs! :3
Comment on ship-wreck ship-wreck 's journal here - http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1721391/ saying that you support the idea, and make a journal like this one spreading the word! (Make sure to also link your journal to her! And don't forget your character reference!) You do that, and Shippy will make you a free little icon!"
You can either copy paste that text, or type up your own. Either way, comment on this journal with your support and journal (and don't forget your reference!), and help us cow furries get our own tab! CAUSE WE ARE MORE THAN JUST MAMMALS/OTHER! <3 Thanks y'all. I will be working on icons one at a time, so just give me some time to get them out, kay?
~The Purple Cow, Shippy
Sounds like something that should be seen. I don't draw them often, but it would be nice to have'm seen.

Help Out Blind Children...With Your Phone!
Posted 15 years agoEvery once in a while, I find a journal that needs to be spread, and after reading Razzek's journal today, I asked if I could copy it and she said that I could...so here it is and I do hope that you would visit the website listed.
http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1603348/ is the original journal.
[[[Taken from
razzek's journal]]]
I just got this e-mail from a friend concerning educational programs for blind children and I could use your help with it (since I can't text).
Here's the e-mail:
"This is an issue I'm very passionate about. Blind students don't have the access to Science or Math activities that sighted kids do. With today's technology there is no reason why blind students can't be just as successful as their sighted peers in all aspects of life.
Right now the National Federation of the Blind is part of a voting campaign for Pepsi's Refresh Project. If they win, they will receive $250,000 dollars to support the 2011 Youth Slam. I've been in Baltimore for past Youth Slams and I've seen what an incredible experience it is. With this support from Pepsi, the opportunities are endless.
The 2011 NFB Youth Slam will be a five-day science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) academy for blind high school youth from across the country. One hundred fifty youth will join fifty blind mentors at the University of Maryland to experience STEM subjects
taught by blind scientists, engineers, and other STEM experts.
YOU CAN HELP!
All you need to do is vote. You can vote once a day, every day the entire month of August.
To Vote:
Text the number 101913 to Pepsi (73774) or visit
www.refresheverything.com/nfbyouthslam
It only takes a second of your time, but it will affect the lives of hundreds of blind kids across the country. Please vote and send this email on to your friends. Every single vote counts!!! If you have
any questions about the Youth Slam or the NFB, please don't hesitate to call me."
I can personally vouch for the NFB and its programs. They literally changed my life for the better and what they do for blind kids is amazing. If you guys could pass this around and send a few texts, I'd be very grateful.
[[[/end of copy/paste]]]
I voted and it's quite a nice thing that it has both cell and website, though you'll have to register.

FAU - Who's going?
Posted 15 years agoI'll be there in the dealer's room all three days.
I won't be staying at the hotel, mostly because I'm less than a half hour away from the hotel, but i'm going to be there as much as I possibly can.
I do have a bunch of items needlefelted that will be up for sale at the table as well as a few other things other artwise.
I has a plot and I'm pondering if I'll be able to pull it through so I'm not going to say what it is right now, but I do have to work on it. Well really two plots...but still X3
So, as the subject says, who's going?

it's going to be a nice weekend there (going to be there from friday night to sunday) and I'm totally looking forwards to having lamburgers and kabobs as well as trying out that new (well to us) wheel that mom got at a yardsale. It's an Ashford Traditional and it is pretty!
Dunno if I'll be rocking "the Hat" there, but I'll be tweeting as much as I can if I can remember to do so X3
Any one else going?

What is your favorite animal?
Posted 15 years agoJust like what the title/subject says, I want to know that as well as a few things like:
What is your favorite animal?
What animal needs more exposure?
What animal is the most recognizable?
Please spread this about. I need a good sampling of animals.
