i hate asking, but i need help
Posted 15 years agoI don't like asking for help unless it is something quite important.
Right now, it is really important.
Subbing has been really slow for me (maybe one or two jobs a month on average) and while I do live with others, things on my end have gotten quite behind. To cut to the chase, I need to make $3,000 min to help with my end of the bills.
I hate feeling like this. I would love to take on more commissions even if I am a bit behind. (Being sick three times then the snow has not helped things)
So please, help. I can do sketch commissions for whatever you can pay.
Thank you for reading this.

Cole Sutra is currently Offline
Posted 15 years agoThere's been a power outage on his street and he's been without power (though he does have a generator and a woodstove) since friday night.
Hopefully tomorrow 3/2 he will have power, but that is the earliest estimate. By the latest will be thursday 3/4.
Just wanted to give people the heads up on why he's not that active right now.
He says he will be continuing the comic on his gallery when he's back online.

Poll for FAU
Posted 15 years ago1. Are you going?
2. If I were to run a panel on Needlefelting and the fiber that goes along with it, would you be interested?
3. If yes, would it be better to have the panel on a friday night or a saturday night?
4. If you're running a panel that you think I'd be interested in, such as a drawing related one, when are you planning on having it so that we don't conflict?

What I am going to do is mainly digital stuff as well as traditional items being brought to conventions that I will be attending.

I will still be doing digital works though.

Frustrations
Posted 16 years agoI hate being sick.
I also hate not feeling well.
I can't work when I'm sick and it's hard to do arty things when I'm not feeling well.
I get headaches daily. I hate them. I hate that there is a constant ringing in my ears.
I take ibuprophen when they get a little a little too much for me, or when the ibu is not working I try the migrane excedrine.
When I work on little sketches for myself, it's so that I can get warmed up to work on commissions that I owe and am very sorry for being behind on. I test out marker techniques on my own things so that I don't mess up those for customers. I do digital stuff so that my various ickinesses don't travel via the web.
I like doing art. It's my happy place. I hate being this behind with just a few projects.
So I'm sorry, I'm going to try and work on things once again.
-Last week, I was sick with a gunk that prevented me from being able to take any jobs. I got better by thursday.
-Saturday, my brother fell ill with this horrid flu that made him miserable all day that he caught from his work.
-Sunday, my brother starts to feel better.
-Late sunday night, my mom starts to feel icky and so do I, we have to leave knitting early...which is not a good thing.
-Between late late sunday night and early monday morning, I tweet my complaints about waking up and not feeling well on my transformers account. Me not happy.
-Monday. I'm nearly dead, weak and miserable. My brother? he's eating pizza so he's better. I do my best to hydrate myself.
-Tuesday, much better...but ribs are hurting. I was able to eat.
-Wednesday, coughing, and ribs are hurting still.
So that's how things were, i'm sorry once again.

15 years yesterday...
Posted 16 years agoIt was Superbowl sunday and the last night I saw my nana alive.
After dinner and her bowl of ice cream, Nana went back across the street to her home (she lived across the street from us) and most likely fed her cats before going to bed. At some point she passed quietly in her sleep during that night.
It's been some years since she's passed on. Mom, my brother and I live in her house and it was the house that my mom had grown up in and had built the edition in her teens with the rest of her family.

Question(s):
Posted 16 years agoI know that i haven't really been going around thanking on pages as of late for stuff, but I have been wondering:
Do you (in general) like it when people go to your page to thank you for favoriting an image?
Do you (generalized) like it when people go to your page to thank you for watching them?
Do you prefer it if people thank via journals?
Do you like getting comments back on what you post?

Commissions are open.
Posted 16 years agoOkay, just like most of the other artists here on FA, I am open for commissions right now. There is just so many things on my plate right now (I am still working on coloring other commissions and needle felting what needs to be felted) but with substitute teaching being slow and my lower extremities rebelling against the rest of me, it is hard to find a job that does not require one to be standing up all the time. Art is something that I can do and be able to catch up on.
In the space of a little over week I have: stepped down wrong on the left ankle, the right ankle had quite the unfortunate meeting with the corner of the door of the fridge and my left kneecap decided that it did not want to stay where it belongs. The last one happened on Halloween, that was ever so charming of it to do that.
I will be trying to take part of the 100 challenge, though I've also added another 100 to that just for fun.
http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1003785/ has the listing for all of the concepts.
Why am I taking commissions now if I have things piled up? I need to pay bills and I'm hoping that if I have a decent bit left over that I can use that to go to the doctor's and get one (or maybe all?) of the many things that are bothering me (knees, ankles, and the perpetual headache) looked at since I don't have health insurance.
ACEOs/ATCs = $25 for full color
I am going to be doing a "pay what you can" with the digital sketches that I do (800x600)
examples:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2130912/
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2125939/
Will also be doing the "pay what you can" for inked index cards (single characters) which will be mailed out.
no examples as of yet...sorry.

Posted 16 years agoPlease go to http://www.johntunger.com/legal-defense-fund.html and read the entire thing.
This is just not right this needs to be passed on.
Please, I don't know this artist, I had seen a multiple reposted tweet as I was going through them and after reading the article, it needs to be spread. This guy needs more support on this.
So please, check out:

RIP Soupy Sales
Posted 16 years agoThe actor/comedian Soupy Sales has passed away today at the age of 83.
Sorry to see him go.
Sorry to see him go.
[OPEN] and a thank you
Posted 16 years agoI've wanted to say a thank you for all of those that have supported me over the time I have been on FA. For all the times that I have been down and for the times that I've asked for help and who have wished me well.
Thank you.

Commissions are open currently since I have not been getting too many subbing jobs and I need to have access to my cell so that I can actually get the calls.
So if anyone is interested in having a part of the conceptual challenge (aka the 100 challenge with another 100 concepts of my own added for a mixture). Digitally sketched on an 800x600 canvas ($7) or traditionally with color on on an ATC/ACEO 2.5"x3.5" card for ($25)
http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1003785/ for more info on that.

Needlefelting:
Will be displaying the Faeries on sale in a little bit.
Pondering on taking on custom jobs for the December Holiday season if there is an interest early enough I will try to take them on.
5" heart bears $20
small custom figures start at $35
medium custom figures start at $70
large custom figures start at $100
Prices are depend on complexity of the character itself.
All natural fibers are used and I support small time/local fiber farms doing this guarantees that no formaldehyde was used in cleaning the fiber nor has the fiber been given an acid bath.
The only non-natural material is the "glitz" used as decoration in the eyes.

Thank you for taking the time in reading this.

The Conceptual Challenge: taking commissions
Posted 16 years agoGoing to be doing the 100 challenge and I am also adding another 100 to that list just because there are more things that could be done in it.
I am also going to be taking commissions via this, even though I am a bit behind in other things. I need to make enough so that I can pay my cellphone bill which I need for getting substitute teaching jobs so that I can pay back what I owe a few places (and maybe even be able to save up to go to the doctor on top of all of that.)

For mamawashu and Dalyth, I have inked and will be coloring to send out when I mail out Shadesfox's badge. I have not forgotten and I am sorry it has taken me this long in working on them.
I am still working on other owed pieces as well, so I should be able to get things along.
-=-=-=-
I can't help but be fussy when I color traditionally, that's why I am often slow in working on them and why it also seems like I work on my own more than the ones that are commissioned. Right now, I've gotten to the level that I am comfortable so hopefully that'll make things go a little quicker in getting my traditional works out.

What should I do to Leif?
Posted 16 years agoJust trying to figure out what I should do to Leif Nox, pictured in:

Mostly pondering solo pics for now with him, but what sort of image should I do with him?
suggestions for all ratings.
Depending on what the muse likes is what I do...if I get any suggestions X3
*goes back to working on stuffs.*
Oh yeah, before I forget to mention it here, My mom had found a kitten (about 2-3 weeks old) in the back yard yesterday before the nor'easter started to rain its coldness upon my area. First we heard him from inside the house, a loud little guy.
Mom had handed him to me and told me to take him up to my room and give him food while she ran a few errands (which included a stop at petsmart for a kitten bottle and formula.) Took the little guy up (his ears were still close to his head despite his eyes being open) and found a box to put him in, though he kept doing his best to climb up the wall, up my arm to my shirt then under my hair where he tried to nurse off of my neck. I wanted to call him Lestat, though mom dubbed him "Caesar" after the dog whisperer.
The kitten was loud, thinking we were holding out on him, when mom returned with the bottle and formula, i had three cats wanting to help me out in making the formula...yeah, I know, close the bathroom door first. Couldn't do that when the trio entered to "help". We tried bottle feeding Caesar, but he refused a few times...which was why we needed to take him to a nursing mom cat.
So the kitten is safe and uber adorable.
*goes back to drawing*

Posted 16 years agoPeople tend to either to climb or descend at various stages in their lives. Sometimes it is for the better, sometimes for the worse. Then, there are those plateaus where everything just feels comfortable before a big drop or there is that climb again.
It is when there is that sudden downwards slope that appears when you were expecting to walk up a gently angled slope. Often there is a stumble and a fall during it that really stings. Though other times it is just a gentle walk because sometimes the downwards slope is easier to walk.
Right now, I feel as though I have been on this path before, I recognize the briars and thistles that line it. I feel as though I am crawling this time through them with each barb catching on me.
I am not sure where this path will lead, and well I am tired. I need a break.

Not again...
Posted 16 years agoWell, I haven't been to the doctor yet but...
...I got hit in the head. Again.
This time, at the beach where a gust of wind picked up a beach umbrella that flew into the back of my head.
Yeah...
At least it was a light one and I don't remember what part had actually hit me, I felt more freaked out at the time.
The back of my head is aching and bright lights are not my friend.
Like I needed more of this.

Happy Birthday to
Posted 16 years agome.
I'm now a prime number and quite odd, but you knew the latter already.
wish I was at AC, but I had gone to Atlantic City on Thursday for a bit of the beach and really good food....and walking from Showboat to Caesar's and back (anyone know how much of a walk that is? I'm asking seriously since my ankles are still screaming at me.)
I'm heading over to my cousins' home today, prepped with anti-bug warfare.
An early gift was a new cellphone, so that's pretty sweet in my book. (It's a tmobile G1. I can has qwerty!)
But at least I'm missing the birthday beatdown that I would've gotten at AC. >.>

Been a bit busy with subbing, a bit slow with getting days but it's the end of the school year.
I've lost my voice, it's still not really back. Lost it last Wednesday at one of the schools, rested Thursday. Worked Friday and the voice went by the end of the day because I had to raise my voice to the kids.

Working on what I owe, I haven't forgotten don't worry. It's just been a whirlwind for a while.

Maryland Sheep and Wool
Posted 16 years agois this weekend, which means, I'm mostly going to be away from computer access.
Tis in Friendship, Maryland which means it is going to be rather enjoyable.
so, i'm sorry that things are going to be a bit more behind. My wrist is getting better, but has still been bugging me off and on (didn't want to do coloring with a shaky wrist, which is not good for details.). Most likely going to be working on felted items while there.
Should be an interesting weekend.

Not even sure what to type since the site explains itself quite well. Though I do agree that it is time to stop the anti-LGBT violence and bullying.
