Our Friday Luncheon is still on! Please feel free to make suggestions for places! Friday the 4th at 11:30 and once we set up where I'll post that here as well. We've kind of over played the Ami card in my book, so we could do something like HuHot's again or McAlester's, Bub's Burgers, Mama's Korean BBQ, or any number of places. I'd like to keep it below 10$ a plate though preferably. Make sure to let Neeka know beforehand if you need a ride and she'll come pick you up if you're around town or down by the lake. Leave us a comment if you plan on attending so we know to look out for you!

EVENTS!
Posted 10 years agoHey everyone! I just wanted to write in and check with everyone since most people are still moving around and adjusting to new schedules for the semester and what not!
We have a few things up and coming in the next few months!
September:
has expressed his want to do one last BBQ before the summer weather turns too chilly (more details to come, but it will be held at Neeka's place more than likely) ALSO! Game night will happen again! Stay tuned to both here and our Facebook page for more info!
October: There are two potential Halloween parties.
will be hosting her annual get together/ birthday party at her house Saturday the 30th (a handful of overnights are welcome as of now but this may change). And
has some interest in doing one a little earlier as well!
November: We will be hosting a Bloomingfurs Thanksgiving for all those who are unable to go home to family or have nothing else to do!
December: This will probably be a very dead month out side of MFF as people will be traveling and vacationing, but there is still the possibility of Krampus Night still happening (usually the first weekend in December, but they have not posted their dates yet).
Please let us know if anyone else has anything planned so we can post it!
Also! From here on out there will be an informal monthly Friday lunch trip for anyone available! The next lunch will be September 4th at 11:30. We have not picked a place so suggestions will be taken! All are welcome :D If you need a ride please contact Neeka or leave a note in the comments!

This is a beta test of the forms I've been building. I'll be using it to generate nice concise calendars. As I move forward I hope to include Information for the events in the 4 surrounding States (Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan) If you you know of groups that are doing stuff let me know of them or let them know I'm doing this. This likely will be updated once per week.

5K RUN/WALK
10:00A.M. - 3:00P.M. BARKTOBERFEST!
Dunn Meadow
Good News everybody! After talking with the MCHA about the idea of mascotting for this event they have decided they love the idea and would love to have us there! This was a crazy idea that I wasn't even certain would fly but after explaining why we fursuit and mascot and that we just loved doing it they said they would love to have us!
While it's not just for Bloomingfurs or fursuiters alone, I would need a list of suiters (and skilled fursuit handlers) willing to help out. Even if you are unsure about being able to suit but are interested they would like us to send them pictures of the suiters (in suit) and how many t-shirts we will need for partial suits or fullsuiters willing to wear t-shirts over their suits.
You would be interacting with children and there are animals here. This is why we need handlers! We will need handlers who are willing to stay with groups of suiters to make certain dogs aren't underfoot and to read body language of canines and children alike as to keep the suiters and animals/children safe. If you don't want children coming up to you in suit, I probably wouldn't volunteer your time. This is an outdoors event as well.
We also may be carrying around donation buckets to try and raise extra money for the foundation as well if you are willing to help out here too. They liked the idea of the fursuiters being there because they want the walk and Barktoberfest to feel more kid friendly and what's more kid friendly than a bunch of giant animals you can hug and interact with running around!?!?
We have been given the honor as being listed as Silver sponsors for the event for the time we put in to being there as mascots. I already know there are a few who have committed to this but if anyone else would like to join in please send me information/ details on if you are wanting to suit or be a handler for the group. We will be given an area to change, bottled water and I believe a few fans to cool off so the magic isn't ruined for the little guys.. but we will need help from friends as well to keep us hydrated and to watch out for suiters!
This is located in the heart of IU campus so if we decide we would like to continue suiting after the events Kirkwood isn't that far away and the Dinner/after party can begin!...because anyone and everyone who shows up to suit, support or handle deserves a pat on the back for their hard work in helping a local animal charity!
If you have any questions or concerns just send a email or message here and I will discuss things with the director of MCHA and/or add further details to this for everyone.
If we have a nice turnout we will decide where we would be going for dinner, make reservations and whatnot the closer we get to the actual date. Suggestions or anything everyone is welcome to speak up.
Note: Common sense request because this isn't a private furry event and we have been invited as an honor to associated with this group. Please, no harnesses on fursuiters(EVEN if you are canine) no humans on leashes or collars. Fursuits can have collars on(No LEASHES!) but for the safety and consideration of this group and the children let's try and keep accessories on fursuits and furries alike to a PG rating. Bells, collars and anything cute and friendly on suits is fine, anything that might be suggestive or any suggestive behavior in public is not so fine.. You are representing furries as a whole and fursuiters. Please just consider this before getting offended at these requests.A visiting party at Starbucks for Arashiin

Posted 12 years agoI'm sorry I meant to get a journal out last week but with the recent tragedy and my work schedule being terrible, I am sorry I just didn't think to write up a change of plans.
From the response received, its looks like we will move the bowling to the second Saturday of the month. because of the change and the fact so many of us were booked up on last Saturday I wasn't planning to have a meet. Then a lot of life became complex. Needless to say, I'm sorry I didn't put out a journal last week.
Our next bowling meet should be on Saturday March 9th and I promise to get details out sooner.

4th Saturday FurBowing at the IMU Jan 26th
Posted 13 years agoI've reserved 2 lanes for us at the IMU's Back Alley on the 26th and can possibly get more if needed. We will have them from 4PM to 5PM. I'm renting them on the hourly basis so it will be unlimited bowls during this period.Shoes will be covered in this cost, and suiters can ask the Lanes if their feet will be acceptable, but if they declined please be graceful about it. If everyone can chip in 3 to 5 dollars to help cover the lanes, it would be appreciated. We'll start gathering around 3 so people can relax get in suit and be ready to hit the lanes at 4. After bowling we can hangout and grab some food on Kirkwood.
Hope to see you all there!!!

We'll be starting up the 4th Saturday bowling again, so I hope to see you all on the 26th of Jan. We'll be trying to move over to the Back Alley at the Indiana Memorial Union. This is is response to the difficulties we had with Classic. Pros of this move are, that its closer to just about everyone on campus, less likelihood of our reservation getting "lost" and its a better area for us to suit and possibly meet other furs (that haven't found us yet). Cons are we might not have a place for headless lounge and its on Campus so no booze. I'll be getting the reservation on Monday and will post all info then, but if you are even possibly interested please post a comment here so I can have a rough count on how many lanes I'll need. thanks.
October 26th's Calendar.

October 27th: BloomingFurs 4th Saturday Fursuit Bowling; 3PM: Classic Bowling Lanes, Bloomington IN. Details below.
October 31st; WontonWednesday all day long at the Belfry. Mori will be having a BBQ potluck on Wednesday with hopefully trick or treaters. Come hangout have some food and wear a costume.
November 11th Games and art at Rachel's Cafe; Some goofy fun to help relieve the pressures of Midterms. Join us at 1:00 for some fun (likely Cards Against Humanity)
November 16th-18th: Midwest FurFest in Rosemont IL. Information Here PreReg ends Nov 5th.
Fourth Saturday Fursuit Bowling
Hosted by BloomingFurs at Classic Bowling Lanes 1421 N Willis Dr, Bloomington, IN
Time will be 3 PM. The regular bowling leagues are starting up so CBL is really crowded later in the day. Also this makes it easier for us to do something like pizza afterwards.
Cost will be $3.50 per game with a $2.50 shoe rental, unless.
If we get more than 15 people shoe rental is waived and cost goes down to $3.00 per game.
Fursuits are welcome and encouraged. The Lanes will decide is a Fursuiter can use their foot paws or has to wear bowling shoes. Update: Last Month they were not keen on the use of footpaws, you can still try but be aware they quite possibly will say "no"
After the bowling we can head down the road to Smoking Jack's Rib Shack for some celebration and delicious foods.
