Holiday Party Cancelled
Posted 10 years agoWe're having a new well put in at the apartment so we probably will not have water this Saturday. I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to reschedule right now, both Koyuk and I are very busy with other stuff going on. I may be able to do something after the new year, I know it's been a while since we had a meet. I hope everyone has a merry Christmas and I'll see you guys soon!

Tundra's Back to School Murry Purry Furry Party of Amazeball
Posted 10 years agoHey guys, kobrin here (otherwise known as Tundra to everyone else)... So, classes are starting again. And that makes everyone sad. So it's important to have a good time and forget all your sadness. And what better than a party with tails to cuddle and fuzzy people! Come one come all, +1's are cool, fursuits and tails are cool (everyone better bring your tails!), dogs are cool, bring drinks and snacks to share.

If you need a place to crash I have a futon and an air mattress, these are available on a first-come, first-serve basis with priority going to anyone coming from further away. It's not a huge apartment but I've crammed a few people in here before. :P This is an 18+ event.

Posted 10 years agoHowdy fuzzbutts, kobrin again. Miscon was awesome, threw a great party and then hosted a "furry panel" with a big turnout. We have plans next year to do more furry events so hope to see more of you out there! Tentative plans are to throw an official 21+ furry room party and then an unofficial 18+ room party, both being DJed by Pine the Badger who has tentatively been "voluntold" to come out and help. :P Also we want to have a few panels on the fandom, fursuiting, and art.

Stats for "The Last Best Camping Con"
Posted 10 years ago kobrin here with a repost from the Montana furry facebook group! Here are some stats for what I have been jokingly referring to as "The Last Best Camping Con" (e.g. the Bozeman camping/barbecue furmeet) but with the way things went may end up turning into an actual camping con. Attendance of 16 people and 6 dogs over two days. Several pounds of bratwurst, hamburgers, and venison sausage. ~500 rounds of ammunition and an untold number of beers consumed (not at the same time :P). And many bocce and croquet balls rearranged by the four-legged spectators.I hope you guys all had as good a time as I did, I'm really thrilled with how well this turned out. :)

* Dinner, depending on who is going I can cook or people will be on their own. Let me know if you plan to attend Friday dinner so I can get a headcount. Bring money to pay for food if I do cook.
Saturday
* Breakfast on your own.
* Skeet shooting and range day after breakfast. I will bring my guns, I am ok with folks using my firearms as long as you strictly follow the gun safety rules and reimburse me for ammunition.
* Lunch on your own.
* Polish horseshoes, lawn darts, etc in the afternoon.
* Official barbecue starts at 5 PM. I am providing bratwurst and buns, please bring a side dish or dessert to share and drinks.
* Rose has promised to bring peeps for smores. :P
Sunday
* Breakfast on your own and depart.

Posted 10 years agoForecast for this weekend is crap so I'm moving camping back a week. Sorry guys, I didn't want to do this because that's the weekend before finals at MSU but rain and rain/snow is no fun to camp in. Hopefully folks can still make next week. Schedule is the same, just one week later.

Where: same location as last year, along the Madison river. Follow Norris Road west of Four Corners until you reach the bridge that crosses the Madison. Go over it and take the next right and then another right at the fork. Follow this road along the river until you find our campsite. Location is approximate as I can't be sure what's available until I get there, see this Google Map: https://goo.gl/maps/Qk0dp
When: I will be heading out there on Friday 4/24 and setting up camp. Official barbecue will be on Saturday 4/25 starting at 5 PM but anyone is welcome to come by earlier. I'll be staying Friday and Saturday nights if people want to camp.
What: Barbecue and camping! Please bring a dish to share for the barbecue, I will provide the meat and utensils and such. Also drinks if you want them, I will have a limited supply of alcohol as I'm poor and can't buy drinks for all of you. :P There is also a good place to go shooting if folks want to bring guns out, I may bring mine, not sure yet.
Other details: dogs and fursuits welcome, of course. I'll have my malamute out and will bring my tail. There is no cell service in that area but I will be monitoring 146.52 MHz if you're an amateur radio operator and also be on CB channel 19. 18+ although I am willing to make exceptions on a case by case basis, shoot a note.
Please RSVP by the Wednesday prior so I have an idea of how much food to get (and let me know if you're interested in camping, there should be room in my tent unless we get a ton of people).

Posted 11 years agoSo change of plans, the Missoula meet has been pushed back to next weekend (Dec. 13-14) since next week is final exams for most of us. Current plan is we drive up Saturday morning, pal around with furs up there that afternoon/evening, same thing Sunday, return to Bozeman that evening. Drive time each way is about three and a half hours. We'll split gas with whomever does the driving.
Roak and Anna only have floor space so come prepared for that! They're both great folks so we should have a good time. Roak insists we play Mario Kart with him. ;)
This event is open to anyone 18+, if there's folks I missed who are not a part of the group please pass the word along to them.

Big Sky Ski Day and Missoula Meetup

bandaid406 here. For those of you not in the loop on our Facebook Page and have yet to see it, we have a few meets coming up soon.
Friday December 5th is $20 ski day at Big Sky resort. Normally lift passes are $103 (or $83 for students), so this seems as good a day as any to kick off the winter time. Gear rentals are still full price and are as follows:
Standard - $42
Performance - $58
Demos - $69
*rental prices include boots and for full day use.
Lifts open at 9:00am and stop running at 4:00pm. I'd like to stay most if not all day, but depending on who all goes we might take multiple vehicles down. For those of you who don't know, Big Sky is one of the largest resorts on the continent, so regardless of your ability there are plenty of runs to enjoy before you ever get bored of the same one.

We will be meeting up (somewhere yet to be determined once we figure out who is going) at around 6 pm in Bozeman and carpooling out. Posted 11 years agoFor anyone who forgot (like me) or didn't know in the first place, the meetups at the mall are back on (and have been for a while). Same schedule as before, they will be every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the the month from 2-5pm at Athen's in the Gallatin County Mall. Unfortunately I won't be able to attend this weekend or the following meet (camping and Rainfurrest respectively), but I hope we can get people to come back out for these as they always used to be laid back, fun meetups in the past.
Like I said last journal, I will try my best to keep the FA page updated with events, but for the most part we have been doing our planning on our Facebook page as it's just all around easier to set up and notify everyone. Fall Camping Trip

Anyway, Kobrin has proposed a camping trip before the weather turns and we're snowed in for the winter:
"Now that everyone is back in town let's head out and do some camping before the weather turns. Potosi campground is a great little spot outside of Pony in the Tobacco Roots and it's only an hour and a half from Bozeman. It has a free hot springs to hang out in and we'll camp out next to the creek.
Plan is we'll meet on Friday as soon as everyone can leave and drive up together, head back to town Sunday afternoon. Any vehicle can make it up here. I have a four person tent I'll bring that can fit two people besides myself and I'll take care of the cooking if everyone pitches in for meals/provides the booze.
We have two options as to where to camp. There is a developed campground in the area with fire rings, latrines, etc., or there are undeveloped pull-outs scattered along the road past the campground. I'd prefer to stay in one of the pull-outs as we won't be around any people that way.
FYI everyone is invited, I just didn't want to invite spam the entire group."

Finally! Sorry for the long wait!

Redheadedreptile here for a brief update! I apologize for my absence, as I have been bogged down with both my summer class and looking for a job in Seattle.Looks like the meets at the mall are back on! Mushi posted it to both facebook and the Gallatin Furs website. Every 2nd and 4th Sunday from 2pm to 5pm we will be meeting at Athena's in the Gallatin Mall food court. After some serious problems with their management for about a year, we're finally back to meeting there again!

These changes aren't drastic, mind you, but it will help make things fair for the furs who are still to young to drink.Every first and third Saturday will be a 21+ party where alcohol will be served. Those who are under 18 will not be allowed to come over because of this, however, this is where the change comes in.
Every second and fourth Saturday, I will be having an alcohol-free 18+ party where everyone below drinking age is allowed to come and have fun for as long as they like!
Both parties will still be the same gig with movies, video games and hookah. The main reason this has come about is because I personally feel bad for having to ask the younger furs to leave when it's 21+ time, so I decided that this layout would be more fair to those who are under drinking age.
As always, everyone in the state is allowed to come, and they can even spend the night if they bring a sleeping bag or blanket!
