RIP Tumblr \\ Hello Pillowfort and Twitter!
Posted 7 years agoLong time no see, FA. Time for an update! I'm sure everyone has heard about the recent Tumblr NSFW debacle that just went into effect yesterday. Even though I wasn't using that site for adult art, this whole situation has been a short-sighted mess and a real dick move by the staff, and it's going to change how I use Tumblr going forward. Although I'm not planning on deleting my blog or anything- all my friends are there- I am no longer going to be posting my art on Tumblr. Reblogs only from here on out! Feel free to follow if you like Pokemon villain shitposts and pictures of tortoises; otherwise, don't worry about missing out on any original content from me!
Like a lot of people who are jumping ship or just branching out, I do have a couple of alternatives. I've been on Pillowfort for a few months since the Kickstarter, actually, and although it's still a wee babby site with a long way to go I have high hopes for it as a sorta-combination of Tumblr and good ol' vintage Livejournal. In meatspace, my family and I just finished moving house. It only took two and a half months. The house we're in now is really nice, but it was FILTHY when we started the move. Every imaginable surface in the kitchen was covered with old chunky grease. I even found specks on the freakin' ceiling. HOW. WHY. We had to spend most of October cleaning and painting before we could even think about bringing furniture in. And 6-7 weeks after that, we're finally done.
I apologize for the radio silence recently, but it's been a really hectic fall. I completely missed out on AZFC due to the moving bullshit. I do plan on attending the AZFurs BBQ on the 5th and if all goes well I hope I can manage PDFC at the beginning of February. 2018 has been such a weird year for me, and not in a good way, but I'm finally starting to feel like things are getting back to normal.
Like a lot of people who are jumping ship or just branching out, I do have a couple of alternatives. Home internet has finally been restored and I'm happy to report that things are pretty alright right now! Without getting too deep into family/home drama, it was a tense and rough couple of months but fortunately I ended up NOT having to move. Things are more or less back to normal around here. I'm safe. I'm okay.
I did lose out on several weeks' worth of income and had pretty limited access to conduct business over crappy grocery store wifi, so over the next few days I will be addressing you guys who have inquired about commissions or pitched in to my ko-fi/paypal, but I just want to say THANK YOU once again to everyone who offered their support. I really did think I was going to end up in a bad situation and for a while I was headed that way but we were able to work things out. Thanks to everyone who signal boosted, offered a kind word or bought something from my sales posts as well.
What I've learned from this more than anything is to focus on what really matters, and I'm happy that I get to continue doing what I love, which is making art and sharing it with all of you guys.
I was able to get to Itty Bitty Fur Con this past weekend, and I think it was the best time I've had at a con yet. IBFC will always hold a special place in my heart for being the first furcon I ever attended, and it's been amazing to watch it grow over the past three years. I debuted a new partial suit and got stopped for more photos than Henbane or Naples put together, I think! I'm getting more confident in my fursuit making and I'm really excited to explore this side of my art further. Hopefully I'll be able to do AZFC this year after I was forced to cancel my plans last minute in 2017. I'd love to see y'all there!
Obviously I've been out of the loop on a lot of stuff (and good lord y'all post a lot of porn, I had over a thousand pieces of furry smut sitting in my inbox after two months of SFW mode) so feel free to holler at me and tell me what's happening! What's up? How are you? How are things?

communication delays
Posted 7 years agohey everyone, just letting you know that I don't have regular internet access right now, so I may be slow to reply to messages. most of the packages have been shipped and those still waiting will be emailed with a tracking number when they go out- but for now I am putting a hold on selling anything else until I have more reliable wifi. I'm okay and still packing/sorting stuff, just don't be surprised if I don't post or reply right away! Thanks

Posted 7 years agoHello! I just wanted to give a quick general update on my situation, thank you all SO MUCH for your encouragement and support! Between those who have graciously donated via Ko-Fi and those who have bought things from my sales posts, I'll be able to put a deposit down towards a new place, and I'm going to go look at an apartment tomorrow. I will be mailing packages out then as well! In the coming days I'm going to be focusing on packing/sorting stuff and once that's out of the way I can turn my attention towards commissions and thank-you drawings. The response has been overwhelming and I really do appreciate it.
The other thing I want to announce is that I've opened up a Redbubble shop and I have some stickers for sale! In the future I'll add other designs as well as look into making stuff available on shirts and other things (remember I draw traditionally, and the scanner only goes up to a certain resolution so availability is limited right now). In this post I have some vulture culture stuff: real furs, bones, and other animal parts. (If these kinds of items upset you, please don't use this journal as an opportunity to complain about it. You're entitled to your opinion but nobody is forcing you to look or buy.) Most of these items are vintage or secondhand and a few were originally purchased from sellers here on FA.
I will not ship real animal parts outside of the US, sorry for any inconvenience!

Not sure what type of fur this is. There are some bald spots and slips but there is still plenty of usable craft fur.
V-2 Beaver Face/Cape $5
Very smooth, slick fur. Face includes ears, nose, lower jaw pieces and neck.
V-3 Raccoon Fur Collar $6
A little over 2' long, hemmed and padded in the back.
V-4 Black Fox(?) Fur Collar $8
Very soft and fluffy, over 2' long! Backing is lined and includes velcro strip.
V-5 Leopard Dyed Rabbit Fur Vest $7
Womens size XS, fully lined for wearing or great to use as craft fur.

I've left some people hanging over the last few weeks and that was absolutely not my intention, but I haven't been in a good place mentally and my personal situation has been up in the air until just recently, so now I need to get this problem addressed.
The short of it is, I'm being kicked out of my home. I don't know yet where I'm going to go, but I need to gather all the funds I can and get rid of a bunch of excess stuff. I'll be responding to the plushie journal soon as well as putting up more things for sale over the weekend. I have some art books, vulture culture stuff like tails and bones, some nice fursuit-quality fur, more fox kitsch, and some toys/nerd merch.
I am also willing to take offers on my fox halfsuit, Henbane. I hate to let him go but I need cash more than I need a costume that gets worn maybe once a year. Post with specs and info is over here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/27393025/
Commissions are still technically open and I still have you folks on my list who are waiting for invoices, though I'm going to be very busy with packing and trying to find a new place and job, so progress on those may be slow. Posted 7 years agoFor those who are waiting on art from me, I apologize it's taken as long as it has. You didn't miss an invoice or anything- I haven't sent them out yet because I've had barely any time to pick up a pencil since like the first week of April. My truck's radiator crapping out was about the LEAST bullshit thing that's happened this month and I've been under a lot of pressure both at work and at home. That's still no excuse for the radio silence though, and for that I'm sorry. Things are... kind of rough right now. I'm trying to get back on track. Thank you for being patient.

I may also consider nude/pinup commissions which is something I haven't really done in the past (nothing against it personally, I just used to be really paranoid about it.) idk. I don't think anybody is really here for the one (1) dong drawing I post per year lol
Long story short, I need to save as much money as I can for some upcoming expenses, and I also want to help some friends in need! (You can read about their situation here, so if this offer isn't your bag then please consider commissioning them instead!) It's been a few years since I took commissions, it used to be my primary source of income but I got really burnt out on it... I think I'd be okay with doing some smaller stuff though!

Posted 8 years agoThe AZFurs potluck on Saturday was a ton of fun! A lot of people pulled together to make this event work, bringing much-needed shade canopies and chairs since the park ramadas were under construction. The food was awesome as always and over 50 fursuiters showed up despite the unseasonably warm weather! I really enjoyed getting out there as Henbane again and want to say thank you to everyone who complimented him or otherwise stopped to chat!

Let's see, what else... my birthday was yesterday, it was pretty chill. Had some great homemade Mexican food and cake but I spent most of the day working on a long overdue art project. It's weird, but it seems like all my best and ultimately most ambitious works are the ones I get stuck on and set aside for like a year or more... this one had me frustrated for a while but I think it's going to be worth the wait now that I've got things figured out. Without spoiling the surprise, it's a remake of something further back in my gallery, and although it is not fursuit-related I feel like it's helping me learn how to tailor a bodysuit. HMM
Regardless of whatever else happens or doesn't happen, I just want to do a lot of art this year. RPing over on Talewind and DotW has helped with that, I've written more in the last 8-10 months than in the last decade. I think next on the agenda, among the dozen other projects I'm juggling at the moment, I need to work on some references for my lesser-used characters.

az-furs barbecue in Tempe tomorrow, suiting as Henbane for the first time in... a while D: There are a few things I keep meaning to go back and fix or redo on him at some point, but for now I'm just going to wear fuzzy black gloves instead of his clunky handpaws and all should be well! Unfortunately the inflatable I was using to fill his tail seems to have a slow leak somewhere and I can't find it... so, trash bag full of polyfil to the rescue :'D
Still really bummed that I had to cancel my AZFC plans at the last minute in November, making this the first gathering I've been to since summer. Hopefully I can make up for it by spending plenty of time in-suit this go around! So if you're attending tomorrow, look for this fox, he'll be wearing a Hawaiian shirt and green shades because holy shit what are these 80+ degree temps in February
