I am definitely thrilled to say i got to attend Fur Eh? this year. I only wish work wasnt so unpredictable so that I could easily book a hotel in advance without worry that I may get sent on field ex. I did manage to get a room for the Saturday at the hotel.

so to start off, I am not much of a city driver. Work didnt let us out early like it normally does on a Friday so the battle began with rush hour traffic (yuck). I put myself in the right hand turn lane twice by accident and well went with the flow of traffic..... I can likely write a novel on my driving habits and my avoid downtown at all costs attitude so I will leave it at that.

So I arrive at the hotel just a wee bit later than anticipated. I am thankful my buddy :tk wolfmanicon: was there already, he pretty much met up with me and directed me in the right direction. I will say I liked the layout but it was quite confusing at first.

Overall Friday night for me was just a meet and greet session. I completely missed the opening ceremonies and I believe they were held at 4pm (seems a little too early IMO) but oh well. I suited for maybe a whole 10 mins or so for Friday then went and hung out with a bunch of furs for some noms. The restaurant at the hotel on the Friday night was unbearably slow service. 1 hr for food order, plus 1hr for refills, another 30 mins after get food, another hour and a half to get the bill..... no tips were given that night. I would have much prefered to eat greasy and quick to be able to socialize and meet people than go through that again.

I left around 1045ish so that I could get back home at a decent time sleep and return to the con the next morning at a good time.

Saturday saw me at a few panels here and there but with the hotel room and all, saturday was my day to be fuzzy. Did the parade and then was off to fursuit games. got out quick on the furry physical training part then did team challenges. we one the bag toss thing but lost at soccer (oh the blindspot of doom) almost kicked my foot off lol. we wond again at the sheep puzzles but lost to the balloon relay. the tie breaker came down to the limbo. i never knew i was flexible but i was able to put in for the win for my team without falling (YAY).
Later on I watched the dance comp (some skilled dancers performed i must say) checked a couple of other panels and then went to the dance.

I lost interest in the dance so I had a beer and followed up on the latest furry drama trail then went and had dennys, followed by sleep. Saturday was last minute say goodbyes then i headed out

the new venue was great for the space. Last year felt very cramped. this new venue had much more breathing space. My biggest complaint with the new venue is the service sector in the area. I heard countless stories of EXTREMELY slow service and experienced hours of just waiting for food and bills. the location and traffic flow with being at an intersection on a one way road was a bit challenging for me as well so commuting to/from was a challenge that ate up time also. The con staff did a pretty good job of managing everything this year.

i may update on who all I met, a little tired now to name them all. was great meating everyone and hanging out!!!!! lots of fun was had

Well let's see, a year has come and gone already. 2013 saw a lot of adventures. February saw me up in the arctic for 3 weeks. Got my fullsuit of Edge in March. April/May I was on exercise for the most part.
Got my con fix in by going to fureh this year and met some cool Alberta furs there (syxsergal and fuzznut to name some).
I learned that sometimes you can only do so much to help a friend out and unfortunately had to kick out as roommate. I also got a refresher on the laws of gravity, it is still in effect I learned as I fell off a vehicle and landed on my head and back (oops).
I got through my training package this year and went back to good ole onterrible to finish off my training and on February 7th this year I shall be fully qualified in my trade.

For the new year I am hoping to get my posting of choice and to attend a con or two and that's about as far as I have gone so far lol. Hope everyone had a good year and that the new year is good to all

rewind about a month back. I took an injury falling off a vehicle bumper (about 4ft drop) on to my back and head. poor positioning of myself when attempting to adjust an alternator belt was part to blame. the other part was the higher up at the new unit i temporarily work at for training.

it seems like it just takes small things to get to me, the start of all this was said higher person (sgt) randomly coming by to see my progress in my vehicle job and me being confused over the matter (as pers at his rank dont often do that, esp with the male trainee techs). I am bad at communication and add my confusion with me talking to a higher up that i barely know is not gonna be much to talk about. but then i find out from the guy below him(in rank) that the guy above him (in rank) is wondering why i am on a job where it seems like i have no clue what i am doing...... at that point i am up from confused to a little dissappointed at this news.

i am a production driven person and want to get the job done fast and it is all that is on my mind after the first visit from the sgt of production on my mind "i need to finish this job"
the news from the mcpl (guy below the sgt) sets me in WTF mode as i thought the issue was with production not communication

the next day sees me working on a side job not related to production, just one of the dumb army things we do weekly.... and redundantly, do driver inspections of vehicles on a weekly routine. i have in my head the production and communication issues. i want to get the dumb job done so i can get the production job done but being a tech i cant approach the job as a driver and have to fix anything i find on the vehicle then and there :/ i go in to "dumb trainee" mode when faced with this kind of stuff and it bugs me a lot.... enough to allow myself poor positioning on a high place and thus contributing to my fall (been healing since)

fast forward to today. this week had been a cluster fudge of appointments both medical, dental and administrative..... and as to my fears coming true, it seems i am on the radar yet again. its just my luck that as a female tech i stand out, as well as with injuring myself on the job. so as it turned out.... i ad an appointment. after the appointment go back to work rite? yeah there was a meeting in session and i show up halfway through (it stands out). today? well i wasnt at parade at 0730 in the morning,,,, i was at a dental appointment for that time (it stands out again). on top of all this is a triple redundancy i cant skip work system in place. step 1 inform my chain of command and they enter in to computer. step 2 write it on 2 different whiteboards for 2 different sections to review at unit i am training at. step 3 go to appointment and sign in indicating i actually went.....

getting frustrated i am standing out in a negative way. cant wait to get on course and not be at this unit anymore :/ end rant

okay so lets begin where i left off last.... ok got back from wainwright the first week of june and got to enjoy a week and a little bit of post ex leave. well more interesting enough lets start at last weekend in general. my grandparents were in the area and were gonna visit for the weekend before heading back to BC. we had an event in garrison which prompted the CO to give us a day off for the friday (day grandma and grandpa were showing up) so that was nice. during the event (field mess dinner) the IRU (incident response unit) gets told they are heading south for the flood relief. I didnt think much of it (other than that I would have liked to be there with them helping) until 830 am the next morning to a phone call of "get your kit together and show up to work asap we may be going to the floods"
worked super crazy on vehicles and managed to have a short but sweet visit with my grandparents as they decided to stay at a cousins place a few hrs away and continue on rather than stick around while i took off.
I did not actually go down for the flood relief efforts but me and a good number of my brothers in arms worked on a fair share of vehicles that were returning from exercise that needed repairs and safety inspections. we worked our butts off but I am proud to say that we stuck with everything and gave it our all to get the vehicles prepped and ready for action (which included ambulances) and by the sounds of things we didnt have too many break downs and the recovery/repair guys we sent didnt have to work too much lol.

all in all on the flood efforts i am a little dissappointed that those of us in garrison didnt get any recognition as to our long hours of dedicated work especially on our days off (guys who drove down and sat on thier asses still get extra days off) but I cant complain as it wasnt my life rolling down the river valleys and I am proud that even though the job we work can be thankless, i put in my all and worked hard for a real disaster on the home front.


now the moving part.....
well my current roomie has not been able to find the work he wants (rather than needs) he doesnt want retail work and is expecting to get a job that requires a ticket even though he needs a ticket (uggh) long story short he needs to grow up one of these days and I aint the one to hold his hand for him to do it. so in the next month I will be moving in with a friend and his wife to be. i will be happy to say life will be good as i will be paying like half of what i do now and will be living closer to base so its a win win all round.... oh and my buddy? he is goin back to our home town and i arranged my leave to him driving back so i guess ima be seeing the old homefront in a week yay! gonna do some camping maybe some ocean fishing too. but prior to leave is seeing me putting a fair number of belongings in storage to make the move quick and painless when i get back to AB.

sorry for having it so long but lots to talk about in the course of a week. I cannot express how much i love the job i have in its wierd chaotic sense that it is lol

okay well the last oh lets say 3 months have been jam packed and full of excitement. 2 months of field exercise (army camping) with just enough time in between to make it to Fur eh? 2013. first ex was spent fixing dumb heaters and watching snow melt, 2nd ex was spent swatting mosquitoes. did manage to get a ride in an american Black hawk helicopter though so that made the whole dang thing worth it :P.

so at the moment i am on the last little bit of post ex leave, oh how i dont want it to end! went to do some bear hunting for the last chance at the end of the season and played around with a predator call i have.... its supposed to be a rabbit in distress call but all it did was send very frantic mommy deers my way, like instantly. coolest thing to experience went kinda like this "WAAAA-WAAAA-WA...." holy crap deer, yep that fast. was cool to have deer literally run to like 5 feet of me.

so here is the story. i have a friend who I convinced to move out here to alberta from bc as he was having a hard time with making enough to fit his bills. unfortunately telling him to not spend X amount on what ever(small purchases) or selling the high priced things(truck/atv) that cost him on his monthly bills tab is an option.
anyways i dont know if its his just his tactics but he has not been able to get anything other than a retail job at the moment. currently he lives under my roof rent free until he can get the work needed to get on track and has that extra money on top of the bills he already owes (credit card debt and vehicle payment). although he doesnt have any tickets he has experience back in bc doing all sorts of labour jobs at a logging company. is that enough? unfortunately i am feeling like a broken record as i find myself telling him the same points over and over regarding sending resumes everday and using aggressive tactics, especially when he figures he should just wait and see what a few resumes sent out will result in, or wait a few days before contacting the people after an interview.

for the most part he is trying to get in with labour or see if he can find someone to start an apprenticeship with him in heavy duty or welding (he had a welding ticket from bc but no hours) we adjusted his resume where it started off as crap and changed it up to the point of starting to get interviews but still waiting.

could anyone offer advice that i could pass on to him or should i just give him the one way ticket back to ma and pa back in bc? (keep in mind he is a good guy and helps out around the house and with groceries so hes not really 100% living off me)

not quite yet. anther 12 days to go. on field exercise enjoying army camping. junk food has run out and we cant get more as the training area is shut out from most of the rest of the world. the first 2 days of the 3 weeks out here went fast but now things are dead and boredom sets in. heres to hoping for a quick 12 days to follow today. cant wait to go home and eat good food.

well this was the first con i got to be in full suit as my deer Edge. went to one panel on the first day for the fursuit performance one (dont remember exactly what it was called) and heard some good stories to keep in mind from the suiters that were there. got to meet quite a few furs as well as just hang out with groups of others. was great to see the other deer that made recently for her 5 bucks (well 7 now) group of suits. and as for it was great to meet you and hang out with you.... dont worry, i had fun hanging out with you even if you were a little intoxicated lol, the look on your face when clopping my hoofies made my day. had a great time hanging out with my regular furends and

i am sure i am leaving a lot out on this as well as furs to mention that are awesome. oh and me being lame and not having a camera, if anyone knows of anyone that was at the con that took pics and may have a gallery with them, I really would like to see them, I really need to get more pics of myself in suit but seem to have the issue of not having a handler/many fur friends in the area yet. thx!

wowbeen a busy few months. got back home mid march from being at another base for 3 months. had a friend from my home town come out here to live with me and I had to find a new place to live before April. It was a scramble but I got a nicer mainfloor place now that feels more like home. fr the entire month of april I found myself on a field exercise, so lotsa army camping time.we arrived when there was still snow on the ground. I was with Field ambulance so got to see how they ran things... and lets just say they do things in a wierd manner..... learned to kinda be annoyed at the words "Mass Cal" pretty much stands for mass casualty. we did scenarios for random in the day time to 2 in the middle of the night.... woke up one night with the fire triangle ringing and "fire fire fire!" being said..... only to get out of the tent and see a bucket of fire (lame :/) which set the mass cal for that night. also worked with the helicopters for casualty evac.... lets just say they freaking blow lol... tossed a bbq we had at our maint tent up in the air and rearranged 2 tents..... then a few weeks later destroyed the dental tent.... yeah

well ima keep this brief, other than that I will be hittin up Fur eh this weekend sportin Edge in fullsuit. been a long work week, bin working straight since april 3rd... this weekend is much needed
