My FE Con REport
Posted 6 years agoWell my 10th Furnal Equinox has come and gone and WOW! Was it a blast!
I started out the convention with a pretty big injury. Two weeks before the con I fractured a rib on my right side. Everyone was really respectful, even if I did not have a ribbon saying CAREFUL broken Cat!
I arrived at the Con Thursday evening after a long drive from work. During dinner I had to take a work call from my boss. After a 40 min conversation I was informed that my position with the company is no longer needed and my last day of work would be March 22nd ((Today)).
This of course was not the best way to start a fun weekend but alas, I did make the best of it.
Working the con made me very busy, and honestly helped keep me distracted from everything. That and the pain killers for my ribs :P
A big thank you to everyone who made the con enjoyable and safe for all the attendees. It was my first time as the Security Lead at FE and my staff and the attendees were wonderful. A huge shout out to my team for such an awesome job, and my 2IC Elle, who really stepped up and help make the Security department run.
Saturday was the Masquerade and what a huge success it was. We lost an hour of rehearsal time due to some complications but all the acts were able to get on stage and perform. Making cuts to an amazing list of performers is one of the hardest tasks ever! The talent this year was of the walls and this being our 6th year running, I am really glad the show is growing so much and we are showcasing the amazing talent the fandom has. I had a little trouble on stage, the loss of breath and pacing due to my ribs hurting, but I tried my best no to let it show.
I still want to thank the AV crew, The Stage Crew, the Con itself, my creative team, the Performers and the audience who came out to see the show and support us.
It was mentioned to me many times that people missed seeing me in suit. I know I am a work Tiger at cons and seeing the enjoyment on others faces attending the con and having fun is well worth the sacrifices of suiting. I did miss the photos and I do really miss the interactions with everyone, and next year will try and plan more time to suit.
It was still humbling to hear how big an inspiration I am to some of you, the instances I did have suiting and being told that people look up to me was heart warming. I have no idea what I am doing to be that inspiration to you, but I promise I will keep on the same path.
It was really fun trying on the DHC charity fursuit at closing, have to admit the suit felt amazing and fit so nice.
Thanks again to the wonderful staff at FE and attendees. I can’t wait until next year.

Well really not new Mew, same ol' BT here.
A lot has been changing in my life recently.
Job contract is slowly coming to an end, I am guessing Mid March I will be looking for new work. I am still doing chainmaille work and designing jewlery in hopes to increase my business traffic.
I recently became a Co-Chair for CanFURence. This is a big step for me and I really hope I can do the community proud. Being a chair for a con is a lot of work, but am ready for this challenge.
Come May will be moving as well, that is another big ticket thing on my list.

Sorry I been on a bit of a quiet streak here, Slowly getting back to posting more journals and photos of cons past.
I had a blast in Germany last year and been so focused on work, Furnal Equinox and CanFURence time slipped away.
Also started doing some chainmaille work as a side business to keep my artistic skills up and have some fun.

Eurofurence - gonna be a typical tourist

Pawprints in the snow CON REPORT
Posted 10 years agoWanted to update everyone on the amazing time I had at Pawprints in the snow.
Saturday was hectic as we had a house full of people attending the event and travelling to Ottawa to attend. When I arrived we quickly got everything set up including the Headless lounge, Fursuit games, and I had ot help set up the cash register for the Kitchen.
At 3pm
simbayo and I hosted the Fursuit games and had a blast! We even killed a Minion (mind you it was a pinata.. but was still fun.)
At 7pm I participated in the Dance competition and WOW the talent pool was TOUGH! somehow I managed to place first in the competition our of 7 Competitors. EVERYONE gave it their all and wow like I said I am still shocked about my place.
I took part in a reveal of what Pawprints and CanFURence has in store in the future and CONGRATS OTTAWA AND CANADA!! we will be hosting a Full convention!!
Wanted to honestly thank everyone for their hard work this weekend. A lot was going on behind the scenes and at the event but as a whole we worked together and created an amazing event on Jan 2nd.

Flying out to Vancouver!

Looking forward from the break at work things are getting hectic and stressful.

Home sweet home
Posted 10 years agoSo we are settling in nicely at the new place. Still have a few boxes here and there but the new place is coming along nicely!
This is a HUGE upgrade as to where we were living before and those who have been to the tiny flat we were in would understand the amount of excitement we have for the new place. We can fit easily 25 people in the new place comfortably and even offer guests a room and bed to sleep in :)
Soon will have to set up the house warming party!

the big move..

familliar and I move into our new place. Will be very different living somewhere with space, and have the ability and comfort of having people come over and not be crammed in a shoe box. (Those who have visited know what I mean) plus we will have an extra bedroom for ease when we do have overnight guests and parking.
I am both excited and nervous for the move. It will allow me to do a lot of things I wanted to but could not complete due to limitations of work space.
Plus a bonus I will not have to worry about neighbours below and above making noise in all hours of the night and ruining my sleeping habits.
Hoping to move furniture in on Thursday night and the boxes on Friday.
Here is to a new start.

Copies of your fursuits made in China..
Posted 10 years ago prplhaze sent me a link of a company in China who is re-selling fursuit characters and mascots among other characters on their site.So far I have found suits made by fursuiting.com and Clockworkcreature.com
Companies who do this rally tick me off as we take time to create, build and bring characters to life with the help of amazing suit builders and some knock off company decides to undercut and re-sell the concepts as their own.
Sadly unsure what those affected can do as China's copyright laws are non existent.

Posted 10 years agoWell I only lived in one spot since I moved to Kingston, and now it is time to move on and upgrade.
Come May 1st I will be moving with prplhaze and familliar to a 3 bedroom house.
This is going to be a big change for us. Now the fun part. Packing EVERYTHING up and going through items we no longer want.
Glad we are getting a bigger space as we sooo need it, but nerves are setting is as this is a big thing for us.
