RAINFURREST
To put it simply: it was amazing. I loveloveloved it! Got to see some friends I haven't seen in a while and meet a few new people, too. I'd definitely like to add it to the regular repertoire of cons. The hotel and convention space were awesomely laid out. I think the only issue I had was that whenever the people opened the door of the room next to ours it sounded like they were opening our door. XD Made for a fitful first night of "Who the fuck's coming in?!"

I had an amazing time running around and Piston was well-loved. I've already found a few pictures of him but I can't wait to find more.

ACCOUNT
Sometime this week I'll be switching over to  Piston's account. I've been waffling on doing this for a while now but I think it's about time. It's easier to have all the watchers, journals, etc, etc consolidated on one account instead of hopping between them. Calico-Feathers just has no bearing for me in the fandom. I apologize to the people who've just watched me on both accounts! D:

I'll post up another journal and a submission when I've got everything successfully moved, but I won't be going through my list and asking everyone to follow me to the new account. So it's up to you guys! ;D

COMMISSIONS
I've gotten a few more questions about these as of late so I figured I might as well set a date on when my commissions will be officially opening up again. They will be opening in December, so be prepared with references if you think you want a commission! I'm not sure how many slots I'll be opening up, likely three. I'll be accepting any mixture of parts, but sockpaws are only tentative right now. I'm going to make a new pair for myself to test out a few new techniques and I'll decide then. This month is FangCon and a visit to my folks for Halloween (and hopefully finishing up Missin' and Rooster), and next month is NaNoWriMo which I'm sure won't be letting me do any suit making at all. XD

I'll post up a journal about a week out from when I open commissions as a reminder and to lay out all the details. What will likely happen is that quotes will be open for about a week. I'll pick the things I most want to do and send quotes to those people. The deposit will secure your spot in the queue. So while the quotes themselves aren't first come, first serve, the queue spots are once I send you a quote.

So... she doesn't look nearly as cute when she's missing her eyes. :c

The eyes were the only real issue I have with the suit. The plastic for the whites was clear instead of white, so a layer of paint was put under and on top of it. The top coat was already chipping. No worries, though, I'm going about replacing them (and Piston's) right now. c: I also took out her nose stud for now but I'm debating replacing it. Hrmmm... Other than they eyes she won't need any work and is very well made. I'm very happy with the purchase.

Also I think I'm gonna name her Missin'.

Though I didn't make this one. ;] Bought a pre-made squirrel from someone who had a bit of buyer's remorse. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8031111/ This girl is now mine! :'D Got her in the mail yesterday and she's even cuter in person~ She's got little buck teeth, four gauges (a peace sign, star, earth, and an acorn~), a nose stud, and some adorable bangs!

Now comes the hard part: coming up with a design for the rest of her, a name, and a personality.

I actually had an idea of having her tail-less, but because tails are so important to squirrels, she'd be busy convincing people, other suiters, and even random objects to be her new tail. I'm a little iffy on the idea (cute in my head but I'm not sure if it'd work in practice) so I'd like some ideas. If that were to be her thing she'd be a talking suit. If not she'll be silent and just adorable (and I'll need to figure out how to make her a tail without wire armatures and such; she'd be the type to use her tail as a prop).

Bit of an update on the convention situation for me. c:  tristwolf and I won't be making MFM this year, sadly. But we will be going to Rainfurrest and FangCon! I'd really like to have Rooster's head rebuilt by Rainfurrest but with my current obsession over this Nuzlocke comic it might not happen. XD Either way a slightly-refurbished Piston will be there (he needs some muzzle touch-ups, a nose, teeth, tongue, and eyes). Lemme know who all's going! I've always wanted to hit Rainfurrest (it's so far!) and FangCon's a brand new convention~

 tristwolf found his old GameBoy Advance while we were cleaning out the garage. Amazingly my Red cartridge from forever ago still works! I started a Nuzlocke on it. c: My team consists of one very badass Squirtle named Astro.

Just got back from a cruise to Alaska. It was my first cruise, my first time outside the U.S. (we set sail from Vancouver), and my first time to Alaska! The goal (for me) was to see a bear, a moose, and a whale. Saw all three and more! XD Among others saw a black bear, some lady moose, a couple pods of Dall's porpoise, a few unidentified whales (they all look surprisingly alike when all you see is a tiny bit of dorsal fin), a group of sea lions, bald eagles, and a couple porcupines.

The trip was absolutely amazing. For anyone thinking about going to Alaska I definitely recommend it. I'm not a huge oh-look-at-the-pretty-scenery person but it was gorgeous and unlike anything I've ever seen. Also cold. XD We sailed up the coast from Vancouver to Seward, Alaska, stopping at Ketchikan, Hoonah, Juneau, Skagway, the Hubbard Glacier, and finally Seward. Then we took a train from Seward to Anchorage to catch our flight home. There was something to do or see in every port we stopped at, even ones where we didn't get excursions.

In Juneau we went gold panning with a guy named Randy. I was a little skeptical on it but it was awesome. It was legit panning with rusty pans out in a little creek in back woods Alaska. And Randy was hilarious. Found my little bit of gold flakes that I got to keep in a little vial. Then we went off to a salmon bake that was delicious. In Skagway we took a four-hour scenic train up just past the Canadian border to White Pass.

An awesome trip to be sure. But now it's back to work for me. -kicks motivation into high gear- Woo!

Yeah yeah I broke down and got one. XD There are too many good people to follow on there! It's all shinynew (aka pretty blank) but if you'd like to see some posts/reblogs and WIPs from me that'll be the place to do it. I plan on posting more stuff there that's just little things and using the journals here less. :0 Also I have a Twitter (though I've got my Tumblr hooked to my Twitter so. XD)! It's PistonPitbull.

Yep he came out prettier than ever! All the spots are all there, even! And to top it all off, the slight blue tint he was getting around his neck from the bandanna is completely gone~ And he smells awesome~ XD

As some of you know I'm a big fan/advocate of suits being made to be more durable. Whenever I wear Piston I just toss the bodysuit in the washer (on cold!), give him a delicate and rinse cycle, then plop him in the dryer (on air fluff!) a couple of go rounds, brush him out, and he's good to go! Well I've never done the head. Being a huge fan of  jill0r and the fact that her heads are marketed to be machine washable I decided to give it a try. What's the worst that can happen, honestly? XD (Answer: I have to remake his head, which I wanted to do at some point anyway soooo...).

So Piston's head is now in the washing machine. XD I cut off his eyes since the buckram will bleed, wrapped him up in a pillowcase, and squished him down into some Woolite-water. Now he's sloshing around in a delicate cycle and we'll see what happens! :D Really the only thing I think I need to be mildly worried about is the balaclava bleeding or something.

I'll keep you guys updated on what happens! :'D

To put it in a bit of perspective this was my first big con. I'd only been to MFM and TFF thus far so this was definitely a step up from there in terms of number of people and size of the space. It absolutely rocked my world. It was like going to a convention for the first time all over again. I met an amazing amount of awesome people. Of course  tristwolf and I ran around being crazy, and we hung out and had lots of delicious food with  sablegryphon and  hungrider (it was his first con, omggg). Bothered  nut-case while she chilled in the dealer's den, too. :D Got to run around being extra hyper with  omgsparky! It was awesome seeing her again. We conspired in tripping up  skroy and sending him flying into a pillar. X'D As always I bothered  jasehusky and  taekwo every time I saw them. <3

I got to meet a bunch of people that I've been dying to and that I look up to, namely  tent,  coopertom,  step, and  twitchdawoof! It was amazing getting to see them running around and being able to say hi to them and tell them how awesome they are. Even tried to teach coopertom how to use my squeaky bone but it seems cats can't be taught how to play with decent toys. :c I also tried really, really hard to cheer up  imadramallama but he was having none of it.

 mysteryotter was there being adorable as always. Tried to sneak off with him once again but tristwolf wasn't about to let that happen. ;D Chatted with  ebonywolf99, too, which was a lot of fun!  princessrei demanded hugs and after the adorable picture she did of tristwolf and I, I just had to oblige. c: It was amazing getting to talk to her, she's a super sweet person. Of course  wintersnowolf was there, too, and got to see Roy run around in person! Got a GORGEOUS badge from  animecat that I can't stop staring at. XDD

There are a ton of other furs I met, too, that I'm totally forgetting in my PCD- and sleep-induced stupor. XD

There was a ton of playing, a lot of keep-away with my squeaky bone (you mean, mean people!) and soooo many amazing interactions. Also the Furshoot guys were absolutely stellar! They made the photoshoot experience amazing and if you get a chance to get pictures with these guys I highly suggest it!

I had the chance to play for a good half hour with a couple of mundanes who'd dropped by the convention out of curiosity. The woman thought me playing fetch was just the greatest thing ever. She also wanted everyone that passed to make me do tricks to get my squeaky bone back. XD Tried really hard to figure out if I was a girl or a guy but I wasn't giving away hints! She swore up and down she'd be getting a costume after this and made me promise to be there next year. XDD I was glad to have a couple other furs come up to help explain some things about the fandom (like cost of suits, how some suiters don't talk, etc, etc) for me since most of that's really hard to mime. rofl

This was definitely one of my favorite cons so far. The people were phenomenal. The conspace was gorgeous and very well laid out. The staff did such an excellent job I can't even begin to describe how smoothly things went. This is a con I will definitely be going back to again, though the move to the Westin should be interesting.

So thank you to all the people I met and hung out with. You're all such amazing people and the reason I go to cons. Keep being awesome and keep being furry!

My one, ONE SINGULAR complaint: there were SO MANY fursuiters just popping their heads willy nilly. o__o Call me old school but holy geebus guys keep it on until you get to the lounge! If you wanna peruse the Dealer's Den/Artist's Alley do it when you're not in suit (not like you can really buy things while you're suited up anyway). And it's not like any of these were medical emergencies, there were some sitting at the tables just down the hall from the lounge! It's because of this that Piston's going to be adopting a new persona: the Fursuit Etiquette Police. He'll be walking (or strutting, he never really just walks) around bopping people in the face when they're not wearing their head. >:] Even going to get a badge made with #KeepYourHeadOn on it and Piston dressed as a police dog.

Well all of Piston's seams have been ripped out and restitched properly. :D After tearing out all the baste thread (so much black thread on my floor right now) he's getting a quick wash to hopefully smooth out some of the fur that got crimped from a year of being stuck in the seams. X'D Even if they don't loosen up he fits sooo much better. After he dries I'll install his zipper and that will be that. My to-do list for FWA is quickly whittling! I almost have all the pawpads cut out for his new hands and after that it's simple, quick stuff.

I've been talking and ranting and flailing to people about FWA and I'm getting more and more excited as the weekend draws closer~ @0@ Like. I'm more excited for FWA than I even normally get for cons. I'M FREAKIN' OUT, MAN! I'm glad we're getting there early 'cause one weekend is soooo not enough to hang out with all you crazy kids. <3 On that topic, we're flying in around 9am on Thursday. c: We plan to mostly wander around the hotel/surrounding area that day to get a feel for the convention and whatnot.

"Let's rip out and replace Piston's zipper." has become "Let's rip out and replace Piston's zipper and chop out 3" from the shoulders so it fits right!" And "Let's re-do the sideseams." has become "Let's re-do all the seams that are shoddy!"

Yay for progress! X'D On the definite bright side: the bodysuit will be 10x better to wear, even if only slightly noticeably better in looks. c:

Rip and restitch side seams on Piston to make them less visible and fit better.
Add elastic to various places in Roy's and Piston's bodysuits.
Replace Piston's tongue (and possibly teeth).
Shave down Piston's head a bit better.

In the Near Future:
Re-do Rooster's head.
Edit Rooster's legs to fit.
Move the heelpad on Rooster's feet back.

Things That May or May Not Happen:
Revisions on Piston's face: lengthening the lips, evening out the front of the muzzle, new nose, new eyes; possibly one day redoing the whole suit in a shorter pile fur.
