Back from Blizzcon
Posted 8 years agoI had a great time in L.A., a generous friend surprised me with a ticket to Blizzcon, so Roz and I could go to the Muse concert. It was a great show and a fantastic weekend. The rest of the time I visited my mom, I didn't tell her I was coming so I surprised her. =) We had a wonderful time, cooking and catching up.
Anyway, I'll get back to posting doodles here in a minute.

Daily Doodles
Posted 8 years agoBrian is pestering me to upload more often. Since I've been in art block for most of this year, I figure I'll dig through my Daily Doodles folders and post some highlights. Daily Doodles ran mostly in LJ and were removed from the internet after 30 days, so it's a good bet very few people have seen these.
I've still got copies of my Daily Doodles CD and I usually have a couple to sell at cons. Thousands of drawings, and that's just from 2004-2013. I need to update my CD...
Well , enjoy the doodles. =)

Anthrocon thanks
Posted 8 years agoAnthrocon was great. I hadn't been able to attend for five years and wow, it's grown up!
I went through the art show and dealer's room back to back, and came back to my table dazzled by all the talent. Amazing costumes and masks! Incredible art!
Thanks to everyone who stopped by the table and said hi. =) It was wonderufl to see everyone again. I had a blast drawing and painting. I've got phone photos and I hope to get scans soon so I can upload.

Texas Furry Fiesta!
Posted 8 years agoHeyyy! Due to some fortunate ducks lining up in a row, I'm going to TFF in 2 weeks. I've been hearing lots of good things about this convention and I'm stoked. Also going to see a lot of people I haven't seen in a while so hooray for that!
I hope to be in the artist alley, but it's lottery based so you never know.
If I don't get into the artist alley I may volunteer at the con to get my hands on one of those sweet, sweet Certified Test Subject badges by Mary Mouse. =-D
Draw all day! Tex-Mex all night! Woo hooo!

Lil life update
Posted 9 years agoIt's been a lean four years, but now that hubby's got full-time-with-bennies employment again, we have moved back to Virginia. Between our daughter's school schedule, and kid-sitting family members being so far away, and the added cost of flying, doing west coast cons will be next to impossible.
I'm doing a bit of research on east coast conventions, since if I can drive to them, I may be able to do them. (I miss Fur Fright.)
Anyone have any east coast conventions they'd recommend? I prefer conventions with more of an artistic focus, I'm not into the party scene. :-V Just putting that out there.
Sort of related, I'd appreciate it if people could tell me which conventions still do mail in submissions for art shows.
Hope everyone's doing well!

Patreon and Picarto Subscriber ideas needed!
Posted 10 years agoI'm thinking about adding a Subscription option to my Picarto channel, but I need to mull it over. What could I offer that people would be willing to pay $5 a month for? I wish it wasn't so much money...I'd feel comfortable asking for $1 a month for what I'm able to stream right now, relaxing no-stress personal art.
I think the same things about Patreon as well. What specific project or goal, that I could do, that people would be interested in patronizing?
Please comment your thoughts. =)

Further Confusion 2015 at the last minute!
Posted 10 years agoHEY GUESS WHAT I got an email a couple of weeks ago and Brian and I are going to be Dealers at FC.
TABLE 23 in the Dealer's Room
We'll both be available for the usual sketches, badges and caffeine-fueled shenanigans, so come on by.
See you there!

MWFF Change of Plans!
Posted 10 years agoIn a STRANGE twist of events...Brian busted his knee and can't attend the con.
Which means, I will be taking his place at the Artist Alley Staff table. I'll be helping out in the G-rated room, so come and say hi. I'll have a limited amount of things for sale, since Brian was going to be bringing the lion's share of the merchandise, but my wrist is available for rent. (I'm such a pimp for my drawing hand.)
Many thanks to Swiftcutter for the lift home! CHICAAAAAAAGO!
*hyperventilates into a paper bag*

Find me at my first BIGGEST LITTLE!
Posted 10 years agoIn a few short hours I'll be getting on the road to Reno for the Biggest Little Fur Con! It's my first time there, and I'm excited. =D
I'll be at Table 10 in the Marketplace, and my hours should be regular for the most part, around 10-6.
Hope to see you there!

Good news! *gushes everywhere*
Posted 10 years agoI've always been reluctant to mention when I have good news, but I figured some people would like to know this.
When I was at Further Confusion I had to race back home to do a test for an animation studio in Canada.
I GOT A FULL TIME JOB ...DOING FLASH ANIMATION...FOR A TELEVISION SHOW!!!
I am very excited as you can probably tell ;D
The show isn't anything anyone would recognize, and it's going to be released directly to DVD, but I'm working with talented people and learning a LOT.
For the first time in years, I feel like I have been doing the work that I went to college to learn. It is my dream job and while the pay isn't great, the work is incredibly fulfilling. I get all the work I am able to handle. I am getting "dream scenes", working on main characters, with dialogue, I even get to animate the villains as they do their threatening monologue, muwahahahah!
I am hoping this will be just the start of more work of this type; there is, after all, still a lot of Flash television content being made. I'm thrilled to finally be able to participate.

VancouFur, anyone?
Posted 11 years agoThought I'd check here and see if anyone I know is going to Vancoufur. It sounds like a fun convention but hard for me to get to.
Sound off! =)

FC information
Posted 11 years agoYep, I'll be there! Table 37 in the Dealer's Room this time.
ToonFX and I will both be there, selling sketchbook sketches, badges and prints.
We usually have a few copies of our Sofawolf book available for sale. If you bring any copy by the table, we'd be happy to sign and draw a lil sumthin' inside. =)

Shhh don't tell my husband...!
Posted 11 years agoMark your calendars, for THIS SATURDAY, AUGUST 30th. I'm going to be doing a special streaming event, are you ready?
*** BRIAN REYNOLDS BIRTHDAY ROAST *** (party horn toot)
Because <s>we are poor</s> he loves it when I draw for him, but I hardly ever get the time, I'm going to devote at least two hours to sketch him stuff I know he will like.
THERE MAY BE ...non-G rated stuff, ohhhh look out! avert thine eyes
I'll have the mic on, to shoot the breeze and tell stories. He will probably be in the chat channel, so his reactions are sure to amuse. Muwahahahah!
Again, that's SATURDAY, AUGUST 30th 5:00pm to 7:00pm PST
Hope to see you there!

An awesome Griffin book coming soon!
Posted 11 years agoMy friend and fellow CalArts alum, Roz Gibson, has her first Kickstarter running right now.
It's a book about law enforcement griffins, one in particular, who ends up fighting for his life after he stumbles across a heinous plot.
I really enjoyed reading an early version of the book. It's chock full of action and adventure, lush descriptions of a primitive Earth without man, and wonderful characters.
I highly recommend this story; make a pledge today!

projects
Posted 12 years agoI never know what to say in journals, these days.
I am wrapping up a freelance project that was great fun, a Halloween themed slot machine game. Pumpkins!
Once that's complete I'll be working on a project I've had simmering away on the backburner for a year. I don't want to talk about it too much just yet, but it's going to be great.
After that there will be some travel around the pacific northwest, and perhaps even a road trip.
Gonna be a fun autumn. =)

SAI advice request
Posted 13 years agoA friend of mine had some nice things to say about vector inking using SAI. And it is quite nice. I like being able to yank the whole brushstroke around, instead of just one side of it (like I normally would in Flash).
My problem is the anti-aliasing. It's all fuzzy and I need a solid line. I usually color things in Photoshop, but when I transfer the inks into Photoshop it's terribly pixellated. The res is 400 so I don't understand why it would be so pixellated.
If anyone can help out on this I'd appreciate it. thanks!

Original art for sale at Anthrocon, $1
Posted 13 years agoBlack and white stuff $1
Color stuff $5 (yep, even originals)
A huge pile of original artwork is available at my husband's table, K20. Stuff from the Huzzah years and newer, multiple sketches on each page, only a buck each! Ridiculous.
The color stuff, some of it is from college, some color tests of older paintings, and some is art show stuff that never sold.
Can't keep boxes of art anymore, gonna be relocating across the country.
There's also a bunch of animation cels, framed and unframed, going for great prices.
Again, that's table K20 at Anthrocon.
thanks!
