Back on the Horse
Posted 9 years agoI'm not even going to touch that pun, but I mean it. I'm back, on my medication and ready to go.
I've had a very productive week and my output is back to a regular flow so with any luck all my existing commissions should be done within the next 2-ish weeks.
Keep an eye on my Trello and an eye here for completed works.
Again, I'm very sorry for how long this whole ordeal has taken. I hope to have this all wrapped up shortly.

High-key rough
Posted 9 years agoSo, it's been one hell of a last couple of weeks for me I'm not going to lie.
I've been having these frequent just -waves- of anxiety and have spent most of the last couple of days either drunk or sleeping trying to cope I guess.
To lay out it pretty plainly in the last year I've been fired from two jobs over my Chron's disease related issues, my parents got divorced, I had to default on an IRS payment and I've basically been living in shitty conditions and stressed to hell without my medication for about two months.
Things are... still kind of looking up for me I guess? Last Wednesday though wasn't a very good day- I'm concerned about the possibility of pre-existing condition mandates being rolled back as well as a general loss of coverage for HRT therapy that I'd long hoped to be on by now.
I have had a hard time building up the motivation to create much of anything this month, but I guess I'm finally starting to realize that I just have to keep going and can't stop.
I need to sleep for now, but I'll write another more coherent journal in the morning.
I need to start putting out partial refunds for these delays now that I have a few bucks to throw at you all, I'm so sorry for having taken this long.

Commission headway
Posted 9 years agoHEY so, I have been making a lot of progress lately despite a medication shortage but I feel like I'm getting close to taking on a new batch of comms (this time a very small number of very, very expensive ones.)
It's not looking like my YCH for Halloween will actually get picked up so it'll be necessary once this batch is through.
If you're interested, shoot a note and I'll let you know when I'm ready and pricing.

Halloween YCH And Commission Updates
Posted 9 years agoHey all! Things are back on a good track since last update, more posts SHOULD be going up on trello here- https://trello.com/b/I7liaPoS/commissions to update my commission status, if you are wondering where yours is at that's the place to get updates!
Additionally I HAVE A YCH GOING which I hope to have wrapped up all of my comms by the time I start it. You can check out the YCH and bid on it here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/21411504/
IT'S MY FIRST ONE SO KEEP THAT IN MIND
That's all wanted to pop in and give an update before I get back to cracking away at commissions. I might do another multistream with Kihu or Arctic (or FEK IF YOU'RE READING THIS I'M DOWN.)

Changes in turnover, life update, situation report
Posted 9 years agoSo I'll be quick in this- life is not good.
I'm currently in a very stressful situation in which I'm not able to afford medication for my anxiety and ADD, not affording medication means not focusing well enough to complete work quickly, not completing work means not getting more work to make more money to pay for medication.
This cycle has been going on since about 3 months ago, when I first lost my insurance due to missed payment and has continued since to the point where completing comms is at a near standstill and I'm supplementing what would be medical grade amphetamines with about 7 to 10 coffees a day to keep up, which hasn't been doing wonders for my body as you can imagine.
I've consulted a few other painters and artists in the fandom that do art like I do (full color full feature paintings) and they've informed me that a "1 month turnover" is absurd, and that I should be boosting that up to a 6 month turnover so I can have a more practical queue size. As a result I've adjusted my ToS for the timeframe to get rid of the "1 month turnover" altogether and set up a trello so people can track their positions in the queue instead, that way you can gauge for yourselves where you are and how long your commission will take which (hopefully, provided you've got a shred of human sympathy in your body) can help you in some way to understand my workflow and which commissions get done first/faster.
Life troubles have driven me to not draw much at all and I've made VERY few additions to my queue in the last 2 months because of the existing comms (I don't believe in adding work when I have incomplete work no matter how desperate I am for money, I've been taught that's a terrible self destructive practice.) Still, without fail every -single- time I so much as take a $15 pizza commission I get 23 notes asking for statuses on other comms. Hopefully a trello will defuse that issue.
More news and the Trello link soon.
I'VE STARTED THE TRELLO
But I need to add more contents to it-
Here's the link for now while I dig through PSDs to render status updates:

1K Twitter Follower Celebration (Open Comms!)
Posted 9 years agoWow! what a week! I've been drawing and painting non-stop and it looks like people have taken notice, my Twitter just peaked out at over a thousand followers and it's going on towards 1.1k!
To celebrate (and to make some funds to try to make it to RMFC) I'm opening some special commissions. These ones are "everything goes" for a set price, that means you get backgrounds, you get characters, and you get whatever the hell else you want in one full color painted piece and you only pay $100 a pop. If it sounds like a steal that's because it is but I love you all and I'm too happy about breaking 1k finally on Twitter to care right now so let's do it.
10 commissions, $100 apiece, $1000 total, and 10 days to fill the bracket. Think you can do it guys?
You can view my most recent submissions in my gallery for the best examples of my work or my Twitter post here https://twitter.com/lngawaitedsleep.....73655232864256 for a few of the latest ones you can expect, I intend to make these all very detailed paintings with full backgrounds to hone in on my style and get ready to start doing commissions for a living.
To start a commission: please send a note to me on FA or a DM to me on Twitter at https://twitter.com/lngawaitedsleep
In your message please include the following:
Details of your commission order, references of any characters or other important things that you would like to be featured in the piece, any special instructions or important notes that would influence my particular art style, whether you can pay in full up front or need to do a split payment (up front is preferred since this is in advance of a con but I'm open to both,) and if you intend to use this piece for anything like prints.
Also be sure to read the ToS about sale of my artwork and NSFW art before you send a request if you have any questions, it helps to be informed!
Commissions will remain open after the 10 day window and after 10 have been taken, but once 10 are taken or 10 days pass the price for a full background/foreground rendering will go back up to $250-350 apiece, so get it while you can!

Boring stuff (please read it anyway if you have any questions, it should answer all of them for you)
TERMS:
The following is laid out as a binding agreement both for the commissioning party and the commissioner under penalty of severance of service and solicitation of a refund.
The artist holds that payment in part or in full at the point a commission is added to the docket is considered "Commencement," and that the commissioner has read and agrees to the following terms of service prior to solicitation:
ARTIST USE:
Artwork rendered by the artist may be used by the artist for portfolio display and to advertise quality of services to other potential commissioners unless otherwise agreed upon in writing.
PAYMENT:
If payment is given in part, upon completion of the artwork and presentation of a watermarked final piece that fits the commissioner's request the remaining payment is to be provided by the commissioner, otherwise a completed non-watermarked piece will not be presented until payment is available.
REDRAWS:
Due to the nature of the artwork the artist provides, a "Redraw" is not an accurate term for offered adjustments, instead through each stage of the piece incomplete watermarked artwork will be provided to commissioners for their assessment and feedback to ensure things are going according to their design. The commissioner is entitled to request these status updates once every week, however typically pieces are completed over the course of 1-2 days once they have begun to be worked barring complications. The artist will also notify commissioning parties if their work is being streamed so that they may watch and provide feedback. In special conditions, commissioning parties may ask to watch live with Skype desktop sharing if the situation permits.
ACCEPTANCE AND ORDER OF COMPLETION:
Not all applications for a commission will be accepted, the artist reserves the right to not accept a commission for whatever reason they see fit. Commissions will for the most part be done in order of receipt, except wherein the artist sees it fit to complete a commission ahead of time. Factors that may influence completion of a piece ahead of another include (but are not limited to) the complexity of the overall order and amount of time the artist estimates it will take to complete it.
REFUNDS:
If the commissioner is not satisfied with your commission due to a failure on part of the artist's quality, or if it takes a substantial period of time longer than expected to complete it, the commissioning party is welcome to solicit a refund from the artist. The artist may provide a partial or full refund depending on the situation, and if an agreement is reached about quality and timeliness of service. The amount of a partial refund will total no more than one half of the commission price for an undesired or "Botched" commission, and no more than one quarter of the total price for a delay.
USE OF ARTWORK (PRIMARY):
The commissioning party agrees not to use the artwork provided by the artist to explicitly generate a profit via print, digital or otherwise recreated distribution and consumption of materials the artist creates during the commissioning period unless agreed to in the terms of your commission after negotiating with the artist. For the sake of disambiguation a hypothetical situation that may void this agreement would be if a design provided by the artist in a commission were to be printed and sold on a shirt for a profit at conventions, whereas a situation that would not void this would be if an individual were to print out the design on a t-shirt for themselves to wear and not for resale. For these special conditions an agreement should be established either for a larger initial commission cost or a contract to yield a portion of the earnings as a royalty to the commissioning artist. Interested parties may contact the artist directly through any point of contact to negotiate, existing commissioners may use the point of contact they commissioned through initially to request altering of the terms of their commission to enable this.
USE OF ARTWORK (DERIVATIVE):
The commissioning party agrees to not use artwork for the creation of a derivative product such as a game, film or novel without notifying the commissioner in the initial commission to arrange for creative attribution or for royalties if applicable. Exempt from this clause by default are pieces that are already a derivative of another work, such as a character from a commissioner's comic or novel.
NSFW CONTENT:
The commissioner is welcome to inquire about ordering sexually explicit commissions, however the commissioning party must be at least 18 years of age as well as of the legal age at which consumption of explicit material is permitted in their region and reside in a region wherein consumption and creation of such material is legal. Explicit fetishes fall under the same terms as the "ACCEPTANCE AND ORDER OF COMPLETION" section and may be either accepted or denied at the artist's discretion. No list of accepted or unaccepted fetishes will be provided in advance of requests, and both the commissioner and artist agree to remain professional and polite in the process of accepting or denying a commission on the basis of explicit content. IMPORTANT: if an explicit piece is accepted you may be asked to not distribute the piece, or to share the artist's name along with the piece if you do so. This is done out of an interest of remaining a predominantly safe for work artist, please respect this request.
FAIR WEATHER:
It may be necessary for the artist to delay or prolong commissions due to emergency situations, it may also be necessary for the artist to delay or cancel commissions if the artist becomes unable to complete them due to technical limitations such as hardware damage. The artist reserves the right to execute this specific clause to declare they are no longer in a Fair Weather status and to initiate a temporary hiatus. All active commissioners will be notified of this with due diligence via whatever points of contact are necessary to ensure they are made aware. An approximate time-frame will be given to the return to Fair Weather status as soon as one is easily calculated. An example situation may involve if the artist's tablet were to break, requiring that they order another one. In that situation, the Fair Weather status would be temporarily suspended and all commissioners would be notified of the approximate time at which a new tablet would be delivered. In extreme conditions such as hospitalization, commissions may need to be cancelled. The artist always reserves the right to cancel commissions, and will provide a full refund to ones that have been outright cancelled before they've been initiated. Partially completed materials will still be sent to commissioners for cancelled artwork, along with a written apology from the artist.
FAN ART:
Artwork that is a derivative of another larger major piece may be denied on the basis of the artist's desire to not generate a profit off of another party's creative property. Individuals may inquire about these pieces, but they may be best left asked for in free art streams or during request open periods.
