This year, I have a lot going on, and I won't be able to be as hands-on with the Tuskbuddy Exchange as I have in previous years. I thought we could try a little more self-direction this time around.

I suggest this :

Draw sketches of orcs as always, and label them with Tuskbuddy Exchange tags. Doing this means you are giving people permission to modify and iterate on the tagged piece.
Keep an eye on the tags, and clean, complete, or reimagine pieces that show up that speak to you.

No rules this time, just invitations.

I'll participate to whatever extent I can.

I will be doing a drawing stream event tonight at 1900 EST, where I will be doing rule 34 pinups of various beefcakes. I've decided to do six categories, based on color, and I will let you all decide which beefcake will represent which color.

The polls have several default options, but I highly encourage write-in responses as well. Please include an image link in the provided field if you include a write-in. All write-in characters must be canonically depicted as adult males. No borderline cases and no Pokemon.

Polls will remain open until the drawings start. Everyone over age 18 is welcome, and there's no money involved. This is just for fun, and for me to get some practice in.

Another Orctober has drawn to a close, this time with a grand total of 196 Orc drawings, and 73 participants! A big thank you to everybody who participated this year, and especially to those of you who stepped up at the end to help me fill some gaps.

Okay, in the interest of making sure that everybody gets something out of this, the TuskbuddyExchange results will be going out tomorrow instead of today. It's either that, or posting it with blank entries and I'd really rather not do that. Bear with me guys.

For those of you who knew about the tuskbuddy exchange and decided not to participate, would you mind taking a few minutes and letting me know why? You can do it in replies or in private notes, I'm just looking at making some adjustments to the format for next year and could use the feedback.

I'm particularly interested in hearing from people who've participated in previous years but decided not to this year, and of course, any information given to me privately will be kept completely private.

Hard to believe it's been five years, but here we are! I just wanted to let everybody know that the Tuskbuddy Exchange is on as usual this year, and I will be releasing phase 1 rules on October 1st. Keep an eye out for it then! See you soon!

I've been extremely quiet lately, I realize. Those of you who follow me elsewhere will realize that I'm just focused on lots of different stuff at the moment.

My gamedev work is still ongoing, and I tend to make frequent small updates over on my twitter account (since I'm not sure FA would appreciate being bombarded with a bunch of incrementally different screenshots). I also occasionally post different polls to get opinions when I run into a design conundrum, so if you'd like to get in on that, you should follow me on twitter.

Aside from art (which I also post here and on Tumblr) and gamedev updates, I don't post much else there, and I hardly ever retweet anything. If you're like me, you follow someone in order to see their original content, and I like to keep the signal-to-noise ratio within an acceptable range.


Many of you also already know that I've signed on to the Visual Novel Extracurricular Activities as the character artist, which is a tremendous amount of work, and eats up most of my drawing mojo. It's hard to believe it's been four years already, but here we are.

This year's Tuskbuddy exchange is on-track as usual. For those of you who don't know, the Orctober Tuskbuddy Exchange is a massive art collaboration event, where users submit sketches of individual orcs and create finished pieces based on others' sketches. Since this event started in 2014, we've collectively added -HUNDREDS- of orc drawings to the internet.

Truly spreading the good word.

In order to participate you must commit to one sketch and one finished piece based on your tuskbuddy's sketch. Full rules will be posted on Orctober 1st, but now's the time to start thinking about it!

So we're finished, but I ran into an interesting problem. You see, a certain participant gave me SO MANY entries that I actually couldn't reuse the format of the gallery the way I was intending to.

Left with the choice of completely rewriting the gallery or choosing an alternative, I chose to simply upload the image dump as well as peoples' point scores and gallery links.

For next year I'll have to come up with a solution that scales better to large numbers of entries.

Alright, I'm putting together the Tuskbuddy gallery now with all of the entries that have been submitted thus far.

We've got a week left to go before this year's Tuskbuddy exchange, and I just wanted to remind everyone that it's happening! Some of the rules will be slightly different this year, and we'll even have provisions for people who want to submit more than one sketch and people who join late.

Anybody can participate, as long as you're willing to draw an orc and make some finished drawings based on others' sketches. Last year we had a huge turnout, and I hope to see this year's get even bigger!
