[ Ol' Captain Jack might be bowing out of the fandom soon, at least the character. I've been doing this since 2006 and while it's been a fun as hell ride, the act is starting to wear thin. The makeup; touch-ups to the costume (ex. updating it for current movies ) ; and other aspects of doing this performance are more costly than I care to admit. The heyday of Pirates of the Caribbean seems to have passed anyway, and not many people respond to Jack as much as they used to. ]
[ If I do , in fact , drop the character...I'd like to go ahead and say a few things. First and foremost, I'd like to thank all the folks who have stuck with me during this whole , fun little charade. Since I left Orlando I haven't had much opportunity to act or perform at all, and doing this character helped ignite that spark when I most needed it. I know I wasn't the best at it, or that I looked as close to Johnny as many other Jack impersonators, but for what it's worth it was still an absolute blast to do, and all the great people I got to meet and interact with during my bout of piratey goodness was well worth all the inebriated nights and hungover mornings I had afterward, praying to the porcelain god. ]
[ Whether you want to believe it or not, I started doing this character because it was fun-- not to get popular. As long as people were entertained, I consider what I've done as a job well done. ]
[ I have no idea what I'll do in the fandom if this character is abolished. Probably slink back into obscurity, hidden beneath the artists; drama; etc. etc. But to be honest, that's probably not so bad, lol! ]
[ For those who still want to contact me ( the ones who didn't watch me just for popularity's sake ) you can find me on my regular FA page
tauakhera . I check that one more than this these days. ]
[ I leave you with these words, and these words alone: ]
Take what you can; give nothing back.

To those who were looking for me at AC
Posted 14 years agoComplications arose and I was unfortunately only able to attend for one day...and only for a couple of hours. Tedious business that, but Fate deals aggravating hands sometimes. To those I did manage to find and speak to, it was lovely to meet up with you again, and for those whom I missed , accept my profuse apologies for not being able to meet up. There's always next year...or Furfright, for those who are going!
I also met some wonderful new people during my menial amount of time at the convention, and if you manage to find me here please plague my front page with gratuitous shout outs!
Until next time, mates.

On Stranger Tides & FA : United
Posted 14 years agoIt's been awhile ; mostly my fault...but maybe also yours, just a bit , for not writing. My heart sinks at the thought.
As I'm sure you all know FA:United happens soon, and by soon I mean at a certain proximity that is uncomfortably intimate, and by uncomfortably intimate I mean in a few days. I will be there, completely drenched to the bone in alcohol of course, but that's about as commonplace as breathing. That aside, my new movie debuts this week as well, ironically right around this convention's starting date. I sense scheming afoot, Dragoneer...
Regardless, everybody go see it! Quickly! Well, when it comes out. You could try seeing it now, but I'd wager you'd be arrested in some way for piracy, though that's never stopped me...quite er, obviously. When you do see it, be sure to tell how much you adored/hated it so I can have a simultaneous reason for drinking: either out of celebration or crushing melancholy. It happens.
A lot.
Yes, well, see you at FA:U, those who are going, and don't forget to catch a screening of Pirates of the Caribbean 4 : On Stranger Tides! You won't regret it.
Maybe.
Sincerely
~ Capt. Jack Sparrow
P.S. I have a sudden fondness for polychrome equines--ponies, if you will-- and I cannot discern why.

My Next Heading : FA United
Posted 15 years agoThe powers that be have deemed the wind applicable to waft within my sails and usher me towards the state of New Jersey this coming May, where the act of stabbing someone is an art and deservedly so.
Dragoneer, prepare your posterier for entry. I'm coming for you! Literally!
If you intend on going to FA United this year, shout out here! Or just shout whatever. Really, it's just entertaining to shout.

An Idea! I need feedback, savvy?
Posted 15 years agoColor me uncharacteristic, but a charitable idea was pitched to me by an associate which I deem...fun!
However, I thought I'd ask the lovely masses swarming about this community whether this idea was suitable or not. In celebration of the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie coming out, the next con I go to -- most assuredly Anthrocon, as it stands -- I would like to host a get together in a con suite, as a bartender, where I'll be concocting delicious beverages that induce the wonderful state we know as : inebriation. I'll be creating substances of original inspiration, new drinks that will be likely to dazzle, and of course whatever you'd prefer if not the aforementioned. Granted you will have to pay for these drinks, but they will be cheap , even the expensive mixed ones! Better than the bar in the bloody hotel...
For those who aren't heavy drinkers-- to the depths with you buggers! -- there will be regular sundries as well to partake in.
Though it utterly pains me to admit this, the majority of the funds will go to whatever charity is present at Anthrocon this coming year. The teensy, trifling remnants of currency after this will, naturally, go...somewhere else. Hm.
If this idea tickles anyone's fancy, let me know, and if I get enough people supporting I will start taking great strides to make it happen.
Cheers, mates.
Sincerely,
~Captain Jack Sparrow

Unsure of next Heading
Posted 15 years agoChoosing conventions is a distinctly cerebral act , a convoluted path of discerning what place would be the most prime in terms of riches, fair bosomed maidens, and free rum.
Or it simply involves laying out a sheet of paper with names , closing your eyes, and blindly pointing to a name. Regardless, it involves effort, and that's something we just can't have.
So, where do you think I should head next, my friends? Anthrocon is always a yes, as a forewarning; MFF this year is not doable being so soon. Whatever else though, you may mention.

Disregard my last journal, I suck really bad eggs.
Posted 15 years agoI am doing this more often than not due to the incomprehensibly bad economy of the United States -- robbing or looting here is like stealing from a jar of pennies : pointless-- but I am unfortunately cancelling the aforementioned trip to Furfright, as much as it pains me to say it. The following year should be doable, but at the current moment in time, the next Anthrocon is my most promising heading.
Sorry for the announcement for those who were expecting to see me there, but look at it this way friends: you'll have the distinct pleasure of knowing I'll be holding children at gunpoint for delicious chocolate sundries on the 31st.
They don't need to get any more obese anyway, savvy?
That is all.

The Next Destination...
Posted 15 years agoAnthrocon is a tried and true venue, and without a doubt I will be returning for it in 2011.
However, I am often plagued by the restless winds of intrigue, which eventually push me in the direction of a new convention every passing year, in an attempt to explore the more minute nooks and crannies of this entertaining world you all have crafted.
This year, it will fall on Hallow's Eve.
I am pleased to say I have my eye, and compass, set on Furfright. Halloween is simply the most enthralling of holidays -- not to mention overwhelmingly gluttonous-- and I covet such times of mischief and enjoyable fear. It is essentially my life, after all.
I expect to see you all there, but if you cannot make it, I will toast a drink in your absence...and another, and then another after that. It's a perpetual cycle, really.
Furfright. Be there, loves.

Returning from AC
Posted 15 years agoIt was a glorious event this year, though a bit sup-par in comparison to 2008's foolhardy adventures.
To those I managed to meet up with this year, it was a pleasure to see you again. And for that one fellow I almost vomited on after ingesting two whole bottles of rum, my apologies. The mild hangover the following morning was my comeuppance, truly.
Also, I thoroughly raped

My Friends, I am Excite
Posted 15 years agoAs you all are presently aware of, Anthrocon is just veering over the horizon ominously like an disgruntled wench whom you forgot to pay for intimate services the prior eve. Needless to say, I am brimming with anticipation and various other conflicting and questionable emotions for this grandiose celebration of all things fur-coated and lewd.
'AC' from years past was my first experience with you lot and has convinced me that strange creatures and individuals of dubious behaviour are to be embraced, not pushed away. Well, perhaps not fully embraced; a pat on the shoulder would be acceptable, dependant on cleanliness, though I can't talk much concerning that department.
Regardless, if you wish to meet up for drinks or tomfoolery--or perhaps both--please let me know here, as I am quite the slippery eel when it comes to catching me at the right moment.
I'm an in-opportunist, you could say.

The Captain's AC Meme ( Following the trend )
Posted 15 years agoA layout, for those trying to locate me during this mass hysteria of fur and alcoholic beverages.
Where are you staying?
The easily accessible and convenient Westin. Less walking for me, a rather pleasant notion considering I will be wobbly-legged 99 percent of the convention.
What day are you getting there?
A day before, actually. This is the day I begin my alcoholic preparations, centering myself for the immense intake, you see.
Who will you be rooming with?
A particularly salty wench.
What is your gender?
Last time I thoroughly investigated my loins, I was of the male variety. I hope that is still the case.
How old are you?
Old enough to know better, but too drunk to care.
Can I talk to you?
Oh, absolutely. In fact , if you don't, I will weep.
Can I touch you?
To an extent. Ha, lewd.
Can I hang out with you?
I don't see why not, though if you intend to stalk me like some sort of predatorial beast, I might object with a bit of lead poisoning on your end.
How can I find you?
Ah, that is the rub. I tend to wander wherever there is action or spirits, so I will be everywhere. One place in particular, however, will be the convenient tavern within the Westin.
Can I buy you drinks?
I think the better question is: Can I buy you several drinks? Or perhaps hundreds. In other words, yes. A word of advice though: I would keep a intensely close eye on your wallet during these transactions...
Any other inquiries, now would be the time to ask, mates.

Setting Sail for Anthrocon
Posted 15 years agoOh yes, the time is drawing near.
Your prestigious and confoundingly astute and witty Captain will be attending Anthrocon this year , prepared for drunken rampages and absurd, silly pursuits. It appears there is a lack of characters not cloaked in fursuits this year, so it seems I am going solo, at least at the moment.
Nevertheless, it will be an entertaining time. Who is going, hmm?
Sincerely,

Posted 15 years agoThe intention of this forthcoming journal has a dual function: the self-indulgent pleasure of seeing my varied array of words on a brightly colored screen, and advertising a wondrous lady's hastily ending auction.
You see , this lovely woman with the humorous title
westiebetch , is keen on getting rid of one of those furry husks you all seem to savor...what were they called? Fursuits. This one in particular is a sabretooth feline, named Saskia, whom I've had the pleasure in exchanging pleasantries and drunken escapades with in the past.
Here is the convenient little link to view and hopefully bid on said suit.

Less than a day left to toss your monetary lot in for this priceless bauble, made with sincere care and meticulous detail. The aforementioned madame needs the money quite severely, so if you cannot afford it, send the link to someone who might be able to.
If I know anything about money, it's always convenient to have a little more, regardless of your fortune.
That's all, mates. Return to..doing whatever sinful endeavors you particpiate in behind your respective screens. You think I don't know? I do. I see everything.
For the record, your furniture looks fantastic from the lawn.

Captain's Log - Sparkling Undead...What?
Posted 15 years agoMy hope for the human race has dwindled significantly upon finally watching the abomination that is 'Twilight'. I had not paid it much mind, as it seemed incomprehensibly dull and lacking in anything relating to coherence, but a pirate's curiosity tends to get the better of him at the most inopportune times.
Since seeing this, vomiting has increasing two-fold as one of my consistent hobbies, and I have nightmares about effeminate men groping me without quarter. Admittedly, I had the same night terrors when William was around.
I'm going to abandon my usual decorum with vocabulary and flat out say this:
Stephanie Meyer, you are a sodding whore, and I sincerely hope dogs of several varieties gnaw your hands to unrecognizable stumps so you may never inscribe such blasphemy again.
Nosferatu would be rolling in his grave, providing he'd stay in it for once. Also, I sincerely apologize for my crude words above.
Oh, wait, one more:
Poppycock.

Er, rather , quite bored. Though, the first statement rings true as well.
I feel like talking. Let us talk, my compatriots who still observe this journal.
I'll conjure up the genesis of whatever conversations may erupt from this request:
So, Anthrocon is only a few months away, and I am quite ready to dive into the mass of fuzz that envelops Pittsburgh during that time. I have had a few discussions with
laughingraptor -- all of which have ended with potential hazard to my continued living-- and we are planning...something. The Joker and Captain Jack Sparrow: I can only imagine the forthcoming terror.
That aside, I'm looking for things to do at this delectable convention. Ideas, anyone?

I ask prematurely, for I know for certain I will able to attend this go around.
