We're closing on the new mortgage at the end of the month. Not only are we both wiping out our full debts, there's going to be a couple extra thousand dollars to invest in health & dental visits!

First of all, I just wanna say how amazing it's been working on the pic of Ra'ad and Valero regularly. I've been struggling artistically for months, and now I'm sitting down every few days and making real progress. I can't make any promises as to what I work on next, as I'm in the middle of ninety million projects and may turn to something other than EN, but I'm getting close to the coloring phase for tha boiz and I'm beyond excited. Whatever project I work on next tho, I think my next EN drawing specifically is going to be KoZee, 'cause Renard wants to see her and I have a very ambitious idea in mind for her.

Secondly and more importantly, it looks like we ARE getting the refinanced loan at a high enough rate that we can wipe our debts! This means hubby can start saving again and only has the mortgage to worry about monthly, and I can get important car repairs done and see the dentist about getting my cavities filled. Hubby is going to retain custody of my credit card, tho, and he wants me going through him for anything frivolous like commissions which I am definitely going to be wanting lol.

So yeah. Good times.

Slowly inching along with the lineart for my pic of Ra'ad and Valero. Coloring is going to be easier, mostly. Ra'ad is meant to have Sanst's markings in Nalia's colors, so I've got to work out the facial markings at least, and decide if I want to give Ra'ad a shirt - and if not, decide if Sanst had markings on her chest before she mutilated herself, since her official design is post-ascension and she only has scars. It's also going to be a bit of a struggle to get the facial markings right, since Ra'ad has a differently shaped face than she did.

I'm trying to stay focused on that picture and not start / work on any more pictures until I finish it, but I'm still staring down old art and facing the urge to Cubify everything. Not sure which design it's gonna be, but I wanna make a Nact'Larn stripper named KoZee. Came up with the name at work and kinda laughed, kept trying to come up with a second name for her but nothing really felt right without also feeling sleazy, and I want her to be maybe not all classy and prissy, but definitely not sleazy either.

I want to buy so many commissions but I have so little money for responsible spending, much less commission spending. And I keep spending my money irresponsibly anyway, including a recent commission c.c I try to put aside a little money to spend on myself every paycheck, but it disappears fast.

BUT MY MONEY WOES MAY BE OVER SOON.

Hubby is - hopefully - getting our mortgage refinanced, and the loan is going to cover not only our original mortgage but also enough to wipe out my credit card debt and clear most of his personal debts as well. We're just waiting to hear back on whether we've been approved.

And that's all I can really think about to say right now. It's half past midnight and I ramble at the best of times, hahaha.

On the way home! It's been a disaster from the moment we set foot in line at the TSA. Our first flight was delayed and we had two gate changes, but fortunately we had plenty of time to reach our second flight. Which has now been delayed twice so far and won't even start boarding until at least an hour* after we were supposed to be home. Ugh.

In brighter news I have let my Cubi-OCD consume me! But I have also controlled myself and not spent any money on adoptables. Rather, I un-adoptabled one of my adopts and am repurposing characters from 10+ years ago into Cubi. As with most of my existing Cubi, they are available as free adoptables to fellow fans of DMFA/PF/EN. However most of these recent Cubi are unfinished and/or in need of an update from my old Sonic style before I actually make them available, and they need clans and personalities as well. So I've got that to amuse me.

I'm also making progress on Hatred 2's script, and trying to motivate myself to continue working on Ra'ad and Valero for Renard.

*Our flight was canceled an hour ago, six and a half hours after we were supposed to start boarding on the delayed flight. It is now 4:32am and we are taking a roundabout flight to an airport two hours' drive from home, which won't start boarding until 10am. Fuck. On the bright side I spent some of the downtime adopting more designs on deviantArt (existing onsite currency, not cash) to cubify.

Spending a week with mom & stepdad to celebrate our eleventh anniversary on Saturday! We got in on Sunday and have been chilling, went out for brunch and dinner yesterday and lunch today. Spaghetti and meatballs at home for dinner tonight. Hubby's birthday is also a few days after our anniversary, so we're having a combined celebration while we're here.

Hubby's been showing the parental units The Amazing Digital Circus, and the parental units have shown us a few choice episodes of Strange New Worlds. We're going to see Superman in theaters some time this week, too.

I half-jokingly told my mom I want a tattoo. 'Cause I legit do, but can't afford it myself and have more practical things to spend money on if I did have money. She said no. Next step, ask stepdad.

We went to Walmart today for snacks and hubby tried to find a Switch 2, but they were out of stock. Minor disappointment at worst, tho he does care more than I do - I'm not particularly motivated to get a Switch 2 at all, currently. In terms of snacks, I got dark chocolate chunk cookies and hubby got knockoff Thin Mints. The Walmart here also sells mini Jones Soda 4-packs, so we got orange creme, cream soda, and blue lemonade. I'm biased against the blue lemonade from when I was in high school; it didn't taste bad but it had an alcoholic aftertaste, and I'm picky about alcohol at 40, much more so when I was 17 and didn't drink at all. I'm not exactly racing to try it again tho I may have a sip when hubby has one. 23 years is time enough for tastes to change.

Hubby's been playing Zelda games. I've been rotating between Animal Crossing, Lunar: Silver Star, and FF1 (bought the pixel remaster of 1-5 a couple weeks ago). I enjoy watching hubby play games, since he usually plays something relatively chill these days. For varying definitions of "chill" I guess, lol.

Making absolutely glacial progress on my pic of Ra'ad and Valero. I open it every time I'm at my laptop but barely actually touch it. So far? I've almost got the lines for Ra'ad's face and hair done, and I probably need to redo the hair.

I'm "inspired" to do so much art and writing, but when the time comes to do it... I don't. I know exactly what I want to do and it just doesn't get done. I get anxious from not meeting my own drive, and I've been struggling for a few days mentally.

BUT:

I now have health insurance! Which means I can afford therapy! I have my first appointment Monday! I haven't seen a proper therapist in years, and I'm excited to have someone to talk to professionally.

Also on the positive side, my little sister is getting maaarried! Next weekend! I'm so happy for her 🥰

Premi's granddaughter Brenna is one of the few non-near-identical designs in the clan, so I need a proper design for her. I've got four more to work on as well, Stella's remaining children, but Brenna is the one with the most opportunity for creativity so I figured I'd open her up for anyone who wants to take a crack at it.

I painted myself into a corner putting her in Fahgi - the extinction takes place millennia before Premi ascends and I already had to change her birth year to place her before the extinction on the timeline - so I'm still trying to work out details, but I need a design for her either way.

Thought I'd be in for two weeks, got out in one. My meds have been adjusted, and I need to find a clinic & schedule "intensive" therapy sessions (if I can afford it) and change my work schedule availability so that I can attend therapy and work on the same day with at least an hour between. I'm also cutting Sunday off my availability entirely, so I can spend at least one full day a week with hubby.

Life in the clinic was pretty unremarkable until a dude showed up who was absolutely high on / unhappily detoxing from something nasty. He would talk to himself, yell, slam his bedroom door, pound on the door into the courtyard when the smokers started gathering for break, and scream at the nurses. He also insisted that "they" were trying to send him to jail to turn him gay, and the next day proclaimed that he was Mario and started muttering the World 1-2 music, both of which would have been funny if most of us weren't so intimidated. Thankfully for me I was discharged before he'd even been there for 24 hours, but it was still... interesting.

Made some friends, started reading books again for the first time in around eight years, gave one of my books to one of my friends, and as soon as I got home I threw myself into bed. I wasn't really able to sleep, but I did get some nice rest. And then when hubby got home from work we went out for my Welcome Home dinner (I got salad and salmon, with a giant fresh cookie paired with ice cream for dessert). Going out to lunch with a friend tomorrow, and then hanging out with some friends from the hospital on Sunday.

In the meantime, I'll be working on Endless Nonsense art and reading more books.

I've got the money for my psych stay!!!

Still not entirely thrilled about actually going, lol, but I no longer need to worry about affording it. So that's a lot of stress off my shoulders, and I can put more focus on getting my credit card down without needing to worry about just spending it all again.

Which also means I can go back to posting about dumb shit!

A little more serious than usual.

Welcome to February. In March, I plan to check in to a mental health facility. It's been a long time coming, and honestly, the only reason I have the guts to do it now is that another friend recently spent a couple weeks in.

I currently have no insurance, and my credit card is maxed out at $13k. My current income is going to keep me on top of my regular bills for the rest of the month, but once I check in, I'll be out of work, and when I get out I'll still be going to regular therapy which will cut into my work availability, if my job is still available - I don't see why it wouldn't be, but part of the reason I'm checking in is paranoia and catastrophizing, and not being able to afford my own mental health care is a big concern when making plans for further mental health care following a stay in a dedicated facility.

Obviously, I've made this post to ask for money. I have a few adoptables uploaded here, but the bulk of them are on deviantArt. They're set up as dA-specific sales, but just let me know what you want and I can take the payment through PayPal and close the sale on dA.

However, I know my adopts aren't exactly great works of art, so yes, I'm relying on donations to float me and word of mouth to spread my situation around. This is not an easy time for me, and I honestly don't expect it to get any easier until I've been in the facility for a while - a week, two weeks, who knows. They operate on a get-'em-out basis, to put it informally, but they also genuinely try to adjust their patients' medication, give them the resources they need, and point them in the right direction in terms of further treatment.

Happy birthday to me!

Spending the week in Connecticut with my dad. Got the traditional $50 and a dinner out, and they got me a Grinch cake (my stepmother's idea specifically, she thought I'd laugh and she was right). Dad dropped me and hubby at the mall for a couple hours before dinner and we roamed around lamenting how our own local mall isn't nearly as cool. Hubby bought me a Red Sox shirt, since I'm originally from Massachusetts and therefore loyal by blood, and I got myself a lot of candy, a blueberry pie flavored soda, some retro MLP pins, and a couple of pokemon art kits for some eight-year-olds in my life. There was sooo much pokemon and other anime merch at a bunch of different stores in the mall... it was like the Millennial weebs of the area never outgrew their weeb phase, so now they're the main customer base that all the stores are catering to.

My sleep schedule is all messed up. I go to bed early, wake up real early, and then feel weird for hours because I'm awake despite it being hours before my typical wake up time of noon.

Also there's kittens. Tessa and Lilly. They are adorable and keep trying to get into everything the people are doing.

And I finally get to meet my five year old nephew for the first time! My stepbrother has moved back in, and he has custody on alternating weekends. So yeah, yay meeting new family members.

I'm still creatively active, but I'm not working on anything I should be working on. Gotta love it. But gee, at least I'm creating pokemon gifs, that's obviously a good enough reason not to do owed art or work on anything that involves actual mental effort 9.9

Trump has won the presidential election. While every effort is being made to call for recounts and confirm whether some votes were even counted at all, there are people who now live in fear or desperation, or both.

I am one who lives in both. I'm confident in my assumption that a Trump presidency will embolden those who want to see people I love locked up or lynched. I have gay friends, trans friends, disabled friends, black and poc friends, mentally ill friends. I adore them and I know damn well that there are people who want them out of the public eye. Child molesters, delusional freaks, drains on society, thugs and/or presumably illegal immigrants, dangerous maniacs. Labels applied intensely and wrongly to people I love. Labels that get people locked in prison or mental institutions, labels that get people put in care homes, labels that categorize people as outsiders who need to be removed from the public eye - peacefully or not.

This is, quite frankly, a fucking disaster. And I'm having trouble keeping my head up, keeping my cool in public, keeping myself from wanting to give up.

Fuck Trump and fuck MAGA.

Today we celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary. Life has been crazy in many ways, but hey, so have I 😉


lifelessbody and I have known each other since 1998 - when we met, I was thirteen, and he had just turned fifteen. And for so many years, neither of us could predict that we'd end up as a couple at all, never mind getting married. But as time went on we got closer, until finally we decided to date, a long-distance relationship that culminated in my leaving New England and moving to Louisiana. And through these years he has meant so much to me - a best friend, a guardian, a source of stability, and an absolute nerd 😂
