Leaving FurAffinity
Posted 14 years agoHi all,
I'm leaving FurAffinity. No, this isn't a joke or a drama post. Simply put, I'm just no longer into furry art...and to be honest, I've been moving away from the furry fandom for some time now. I can still be found at my DeviantArt account by the same name; I am focusing on anime and cosplay.
So long and thanks for all the fish.

Workout Progress
Posted 14 years agoLeg press: 190
Quad extension/curl: 70
Hamstring curl: 85
Lat pulldown: 85
Chest press: 70
Bicep curl: 50
Tricep curl: 50
Seated row (inverted grip): 55
Sit-up (weighted): 40
All weights are in pounds, calculated for a 12 rep set. I was pleasantly surprised at the leg press. We'll see how sore I feel tomorrow, heh. Not bad for a girl.
I'm kind of confused...why are my hamstrings stronger than my quads? I thought it would have been the other way around. Must have something to do with having a desk job.

Hatching Day
Posted 14 years agoOne week from tomorrow, I will level up once more in the game of life and celebrate my hatching day. Not quite Paragon tier yet, but I get--
+1 Str
+1 Dex
+1 Int
+1 Wis
-1 Cha
-1 Con
+1 Inj
-1 Pat
Woot.
Also...I have fallen hard in love with Aquarius Camus of Saint Seiya. He's...very much like me at this point in time. It's nice to daydream about him, because with a fantasy anime character at least I don't have to worry about the results of relationships suddenly ending on me.
Oh--with luck, Pre-Registration for Furry Fiesta will re-open very shortly. For the time being, I'm still head of Registration. Yes, I'm back for more.

THE CON IS OVERRRRRRR
Posted 14 years ago...and at the moment, everything I have had pent up inside over the weekend is now exploding. It'll be hard to get any sleep tonight, I think.
4 days until rehearsal starts, and still no sign of sheet music. This is not a good start to my week...I hope things get better.
The con was a resounding success, don't get me wrong. But I -AM- glad it's over.

Furry Fiesta Meme
Posted 14 years agoQ: Where are you staying?
A: At the convention hotel.
Q: Where will you be most of the time during the days?
A: Behind the Registration desk, hobnobbing with all you lovely people.
Q: Who will you be with?
A: My wonderful assistants Teser, Storm, Sabri Aurrelia, and Seismic
Q: Do you do free art?
A: Nope.
Q: Do you do trades?
A: I do outside of the convention. During the con I'll be insanely busy.
Q: Do you do commissions?
A: Yes! All sorts of weird oddball things from Ren dresses to baby blankets.
Q: Do you have prints/ CDs ?
A: Not unless you count photos of my works.
Q: What suits will you have?
A: I don't have a suit. I'm perfectly comfortable in my very white skin.
Q: What is your gender?
A: Female
Q: How old are you?
A: I'll leave that for you to guess.
Q: Are you taken?
A: No, but I'm also not looking--I'm very VERY content to be single.
Q: Can I touch you?
A: Not unless I really know you well, in which case you wouldn't be asking me this question. :P
Q: Can I talk to you?
A: Sure. Come keep me company during Reg downtime!
Q: Can I buy you lots of drinks?
A: Nah. I don't drink.
Q: How can I find you?
A: Walk into the Registration room.
Q: Can I give you lots of money?
A: As a staffer, that's a bit of a grey ethical question, so I'm afraid not. You can, however, give me lots of compliments, or perhaps a couple hours of your time as a volunteer? I promise I'm a really nice staffer.

Furry Fiesta Registration Email
Posted 14 years agoHi everyone,
Celyddon here, for probably the last time before the convention! I just sent out the mass email that most of you are expecting; it contains the link you need to print off and bring to the convention with you (it shortens your wait in line).
If you did not receive this email,, please contact me as soon as possible so I can get it to you. Also, if you have any changes to be made--i.e. email address or home address has changed, etc., I cannot make changes after Saturday, so please get those in to me ASAP.
Lastly, if you have any questions or concerns about your registration, or the registration process in general, I can be reached at registration@furryfiesta.org.
See you all next week!
Please, please spread this around--I need to finish things up this weekend, and I'm on limited social media.

Out of Commission
Posted 14 years agoHey guys,
My laptop chose this afternoon to die completely. The internal power inverter/transformer is fried, so at this point I need a new laptop. I'll be mostly unreachable with any sort of reliability until I can procure a new one.
Worst. Timing. Ever.

Posted 15 years agoThere has been a change in the policy that I was informed of this morning.

Sorry guys.

Project A-Kon Panels
Posted 15 years agoSo!
I submitted 4 panels for Project A-Kon this year:
Sewing 101--the basics of sewing for the first time (equipment, techniques)
Sewing 201--taking sewing to the next level (seams, hems, finishing)
Working with Patterns--decoding commercial patterns and making your own, including those for props
Emergency Maintenance--how to repair your cosplay when something goes wrong
I won't know until about March if they're approved and in the schedule or not. Here's to hoping!

Fear The Boot--Furry Interview--Go Listen!
Posted 15 years agoI listen to a tabletop gaming podcast called Fear the Boot. It's actually a very thoughtful and down-to-earth podcast, and I enjoy it very much.
Their most recent episode was to invite a furry LARPer in for an informal interview; it went VERY well in my opinion--particularly given the negative press that Furry gets most of the time--and is worth a listen. In all seriousness.
The furry did not give his fursona name, as far as I can tell, but he did give enough identifying information that those in the fandom can probably figure out who it was. And sir--for giving such an honest, forthright interview--I thank you. Earnestly. You did a FANTASTIC job.
The specific podcast I'm referring to can be found here:

Happy New Year 2011
Posted 15 years agoHope everyone had a good start to their year.
I spent my day being productive (as usual), putting up some custom shelving in my closet and trying really, really hard to finish unpacking from moving. I'm nearly done.
I will be starting to seriously craft very soon (probably next weekend), along with drafting panels to teach at A-Kon (possibly at AnimeFest too, we'll see) and arranging more anime music for performance at AFest. (It's not looking like I'll be able to do it for A-Kon, for several reasons.) I'm not making New Year's resolutions this year; I find little purpose in making 'special' goals when they're no different than my normal goals. 2011, being the Year of the Rabbit, isn't terribly kind to Rats, so I'll be taking it easy this year and teaching myself new skills and knowledge.
Furry Fiesta is in two months! See you all there. If anyone is willing to volunteer for Registration, even for a couple of hours, please email me at registration [at] furryfiesta [dot] org.

Cross Stitch For Sale
Posted 15 years agoHi everyone,
I'm looking to sell a few of my wolf items to finance the purchase/commission of avian items to replace them (I'm migrating from a wolf phase into a bird phase). I hope to find a good home for these as I put a lot of work into them.
The two items are shown here:
http://s559.photobucket.com/albums/.....n/CrossStitch/
For the aurora wolf cross stitch, I am looking to get $30 (represents 3 hrs labor, even though it took me longer).
For the dreamcatcher wolf cross stitch, I am looking to get $20 (represents 2 hrs labor, even though it took me longer).
Shipping is extra, though I don't anticipate it costing much. I will happily pad them in a secure box to ensure it arrives safely, and the frames are included if you wish them. I will need your zipcode to determine actual shipping rate--I am fine with UPS, USPS, FedEx, whichever you prefer.
If anyone is interested, please either note me here or PM me. I'm pretty good about checking my FA regularly.

Musicians...
Posted 15 years agoDoes anyone know of a good program for Windows that can transcribe polyphonic music, or at the very least, identify distinct pitches over time? It's incredibly hard to transcribe polyphonic music by ear when there's dozens of tracks going at the same time--I have perfect pitch, but it doesn't help me here because I find it difficult to isolate tracks as I'm working. I'm doing the best I can, but it's frustrating. I don't need the software to do it for me--I'm willing to do the work myself--but in a couple of places here and there I need help identifying pitches in cluster chords or ornamental fripperies that randomly appear and disappear quickly in the music.
Selling Wolf Items
Posted 15 years agoI have quite a few wolf decorations I'd like to sell (wall hanging, a few pictures and cross stitches), but I'm not sure where to do so. Is Furbid the best place for this? Or does FA have a sort of bazaar section?
(I'm looking to get a little extra money to finance some avian commissions.)

Bird Artists?
Posted 15 years agoDoes anyone know some decent artists who are willing to take on avians and have an opening? I'm looking to commission perhaps a couple of pieces to replace the current art in my room with something more...well, bird-like. Duh. :P Currently, I know of WindFalcon (DA) and Likeshine (FA). (I already have a piece by Myenia, Maggock, and AnimeCat.)
Specifically, my character is essentially a variation on a gyrfalcon.

Workout Women?
Posted 15 years agoI wanted to know if any women who work out regularly have any tips for losing weight.
I haven't had any problems gaining muscle--in fact, I have added 20 lbs to all my leg machines in the last 2 months, and 15-20 lbs to all my upper body machines. But my weight has only gone down by about 2 lbs in the last 2 months. I'm eating far better than I did, and I'm limiting myself to about 1800 calories a day in the form of 3 meals and 2 snacks. I stop eating by 7pm each night, and I eat a hearty/healthy breakfast.
Any suggestions?

Post-Convention Update
Posted 15 years agoA-Kon has announced their dates and theme for next year:
June 10-12, 2011; theme is Space Opera.
That is good news, especially for my Saint Seiya cosplay. I will not be at MFM this year due to a couple of factors, but honestly I don't feel bad about that. I will instead be at AnimeFest on Labor Day Weekend, attempting to relax and enjoy my cosplay. With luck I will be bringing my Yue cosplay that I didn't have time to finish (in place of Azula, whose armor needs redoing), and likely I will bring Sode no Shirayuki and possibly Lina Inverse if I have enough time to redo the tunic so that it actually fits me.

A-Kon Aftermath
Posted 15 years agoTurns out the temperature in the hotel was at 85. *sweat* The hotel -was- apparently having A/C problems, but no one warned us of this....if I'd have known, I'd have either 1) stayed home from the con, or 2) gone in casual t-shirt and shorts instead of cosplay, so that I could have avoided heat exhaustion.
That is just ridiculous, for them to have A/C problems during a 22,000 person convention when it's 100 degrees outside. Then again, that is my opinion, and I am sure there are factors about which I may know nothing.
Lack of communication is my number one pet peeve.

Had to Scrap A-Kon
Posted 15 years agoI got heat exhaustion both Thursday and Friday--the hotel is just too damned hot; I can't stay in there longer than 15 minutes without beginning to sweat badly. It's like their thermostat is set at 80 or something, and the addition of 22,000 people isn't helping matters.
So I had to scrap the rest of the con and stay home. *sigh* After all that work I did...it sucks, rather.

A-Kon Starts Tomorrow!
Posted 15 years agoI'll be gone for the weekend, trying to pretend I'm a slim Japanese anime character and failing miserably.
A-Kon in a Month!
Posted 15 years agoYeah...A-Kon is in a month, and I'm so, so very frazzled. Mostly because this year I have less free time than last year, and my projects were a bit more ambitious. I know in advance that my cosplays will not be at the level I wanted them to be at this year, and that disappoints me a bit. They don't look bad by any means, but they aren't where I know I'm capable of being. Ah well. Spilled milk and such.
I will be teaching basic sewing and maintenance/repair techniques at A-Kon, as well as performing with the symphony--I hope, if I get the music in time--and trying to enjoy myself inbetween those tasks. I will be participating in three photoshoots, namely Avatar: the Last Airbender, Bleach Zanpakutous, and Bleach (general). If I don't have a panel at the time, I can also do the Bleach vs. Naruto shoot.
I'm also part of the staff throwing a room party at A-Kon, and I have to prep for that too. Argh! Not enough hours in the day.
