"Join us for a day of music, merriment and shaving cream pies at the 27th Annual Ocean City New Jersey Doo Dah Parade! Rapid T. Rabbit and his friends invite you to march with their group in this long-running event up down the Ocean City Boardwalk, along with all sorts of other musical and creative acts. The parade ends with the fun-filled Pieasco, where no one is safe (not even furries!) from the mess of shaving cream pies. Soupy Sales would be proud!"
You can still sign up at this link: http://doodah.surple.com

Farewell to Furnando's (4/21/12)
pennsylvania_furs has arranged a farewell lunch at Anthrocon's beloved Furnando's.
"There is a furmeet being organized to do lunch at Fernando's in downtown Pittsburgh on Saturday, April 21st, and some of us will be sticking around to visit the Pittsburgh Zoo after lunch.
Fernando's is closing for good the following week, so if the place has any sentimental value to you as an Anthrocon "landmark," this will probably be your last chance to grab a sandwich there. :3
Info and sign-up at: http://pittsburghfurmeet.surple.com/ "
Eastern Fur Meets - Confetti Arcade (4/22/12)
easternfurmeets is holding a meet in PA where you'll hang out at the Confetti Arcade after the mall closes!

Earth Day Clean Up & Baltimore Zoo Meet (4/22/12)
On April 22nd, there will be an Earth Day Clean up and Zoo meet at the Baltimore Zoo. The event is being hosted by archadia who will be providing a free admission to the Zoo to the furry who collects the most trash.
From Archadia:
"If you want to do the litter pick-up the morning of the zoo visit, I will offer to pay for the fur who picks up the most litter with us at whichever location is picked. Do you have one in mind or would you like me to suggest a few?
I would be able to provide gloves and a recycling reusable tote. Participants may want to bring their own pick-up or gopher tool (or rake), as I can only provide a few.
If we get 15 definite participants, we qualify for a group rate at the zoo and they will give a discount."
For more information, check out this journal: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3347699/

Ladies of Illusion @ Altland's Ranch (4/28/12)
archadia's sister has brought a new event to our attention!
"Calling all furries! These drag queens love their furry friends and would love to see you in fursuit, too! Bring your tails (and the rest of you, too) to Altland's Ranch, 8505 Orchard Road, Spring Grove, PA 17362 on Saturday, April 28th. The show starts at 10:30 pm and, if you're lucky, one of the girls may include you as part of the show!"
She also notes that, if a fur should get a tip from a patron, etiquette dictates that the fur should give it to the girl that the fur was taking part (this is how they make a living after all, and we'd want to get invited back!). Thanks in advance for your support!
Possible Charles County Furmeet
stonefoxnick is planning on hosting a meet at the Charles County Mall!
"If anyone is interested in a future furmeet (being within the next 3-4 weeks)
Please send me a note so i can contact you for when it is. All notes are accepted. We will meet at the Charles County Mall :3 "
If you have any questions, feel free to contact us or the groups hosting the individual events.

Ok, the Inner Harbor furwalk last weekend went really well, except for the rain. We all met at the food court in the Gallery, had some lunch, and then headed out. All morning the day had been just misty but had not really rained. However, it was just waiting for us, because as soon as my furhead passed the doorway, it downpoured. So we snuck around the buildings for a bit, then made made dashes between them where we could run around one of the harborplace buildings because they had an overhang.
At one point we went inside a door, and the American Eagle Outfitters store saw us. The store peoples asked us to come in, so we did an impromptu fur parade through their store. :-P
Finally the rain let up, and it was suggested that we head over to federal hill. Lead by
archadia went fur paraded through the cross street market, checked out a place that might be fursuit friendly for hang outs called the "Dog Pub", and then walked up to the top of federal hill. There
kitdrago took control of the cannon and fired all over downtown. After heading down the hill we made our way back to where we started. The day came to a close except for those who went with Archadia to go have dinner at the Dog Pub.
Thanks to everyone who came out, we will be planning more events for the future include an MDFurBQ. Watch for them.
In the meantime NJFurBQ is coming up and
razor_wulff makes some steaks to die for! Check out
njfurbq and get pre-registered for it.
Kit Drago and Irime will also be up in Ocean City, NJ for the DooDah Parade if anyone else is going to be up there.
I did make the mistake of not writing down everyone who was there, so feel free to call yourself out in the comments. I really do appreciate that everyone showed up, and I hope we can get more in the future.
Send your pictures into KitDrago if you would like them posted to the CMD Fur Group!

Saturday Meet is a Go!
Posted 13 years agoThe saturday meet will still go on as planned. Meet at the harborplace mall in "The Gallery' building at the food court around 11am. We will have lunch and then decide what to do from there. Unfortunately, I was not able to connect with the management office to clear fursuiting inside the building, so I expect security will say no.
Well figure it out then, so bring your stuff in case its sunny or something changes.
I would also recommend bringing $30, as it would enable the group to go to the aquarium if we wanted. However, if everyone isnt able to go, then i personally will not. I would rather just chill in the food court than to know that someone is or felt excluded for any reason.
See you around lunchtime.
Kit Drago

Saturday Furmeet & Miltonius Gaming meet 3/30
Posted 13 years agoGreetings All,
First! Congratulations to
irime who was named as one of two co-managers for
marylandfurs
Second...
I need a consensus on what we want to try and do.
At the moment, the hourly forecast is saying rain until noon, then thunderstorms all afternoon. now this could be nothing, it might be sunny, but who knows. We can still meet up, have lunch, and decide what to do from there. As of right now, I have not been able to get a hold of the harborplace management office to see what their stance is on costuming in the buildings. I will try again tomorrow.
Options are: 1) We meet up, have lunch and decide from there. 2) We postpone until next week saturday and try again.
I am in favor of #1 especially since our meet information is now spreading through other groups. Worst case scenario, we just wont be able to fursuit (for those that wanted to).
Give me your comments and let me know what your interested in doing.
Thirdly,
Miltonius gaming meet is coming up on March 30th. Info here -> http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3291192/

Inner Harbor Meet : Update
Posted 13 years agoOk,
We will still be meeting at The Gallery at 11am this saturday.
The gallery is one of three buildings associated with the Harborplace mall. It is located at 101 South Calvert Street Baltimore, MD 21202.
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=101+s.....e,+MD&z=15
After we eat, there is a skywalk that goes across pratt street to where the other two buildings and the amphitheater is.
I am going to get in touch with HarborPlace to see how they feel about fursuiting inside *if* it should rain. Im not expecting a positive response, but who knows.

Maryland Furry Con - Contest Winners
Posted 13 years ago(Crossposted from @
furthemore )
Greetings All,
Here are the winners of the Name the con contest. After two rounds in the selection process the winners are...
Grand Prize Winner
Fur the 'More - Submitted by Dofain - We think this is
delphine here on FA
1st Prize - Furthermore - Submitted by Marisa Cotilletta
2nd Prize - Charm City Furcon - Submitted by Greg Stotler
3rd Prize - Baltimore FurFest - Submitted by
SEGY
Unfortunately, even if Fur the 'More had not won the contest, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place names either couldnt be used or had to be modified.
Furthermore is trademarked by a brewing company, FurCon is trademarked by Further Confusion in California, and FurFest is trademarked by Midwest FurFest. So we would have had to figure out a modification that would have worked had they won. Irregardless, they were all great names, as were most of the names that were submitted for the contest. We will be trying to get in touch with each of the winners in the near future to arrange for their prizes. Congratulations to everyone.
Well, now that we have the contest wrapped up, and the convention has a name, we feel like we can finally move forward.
First and foremost, I would like everyone to know that I (
kitdrago ) am the Con-Chair of the convention. Our staff includes
razor_wulff
skippyfox
shymatsi
irime
kibayoukai and
indigoangelcat as well as others who we are still pending on invites.
I hope that no one was put off by us withholding the name of the staff members starting this up. We decided as we were gathering up the initial information and getting ourselves lined up that we did not want to release anyones names as staff until we were certain that we were going to move forward with this project.
Ideally, you can come check out our website at http://www.furthemore.org which we are in the process of building up, you can watch us furthemore on FA, and we will have other presences in the near future.
We are looking for artists who might be interested in donating artwork for the convention, including Mascot/Logo (which were thinking should be a Raven), banners, Tshirt Ideas, website header art, and program book art. The benefits are that you will be credited on the website, FA, and in the conbook. You will have the distinction of being involved in the founding processes of the convention.
Questions / comments / suggestions can be sent to questions [at] furthemore.org - Staff and volunteer applications will go online on the website when we are ready to accept them. If you are particularily interested in a staff position listed as OPEN on our FA Page or website, you can email us to discuss it.
All of us sincerely look forward to getting this convention going, and we really hope you are as excited to attend it as we are to put it together.

Posted 13 years agoWell, the movie meet was only attended by

Upcoming Events:
Inner Harbor Walk - 24 March 2012, Come join us in DownTown inner harbor on Saturday the 24th. Bring your fursuits and your cameras as we just galavant around the inner harbor. We will meet at a restaurant to be determined, have lunch, and then head out into the inner harbor to entertain ourselves and the masses. Sign up for this event at: http://mdfurs.surple.com/event.aspx?mid=288
Maryland Food Bank Volunteering - 7 april 2012 - Sign up to volunteer at the Maryland food bank. If we get at least 10 volunteers we can contact them to go in and help. this would be a non-fursuiting event as we would be working around equipment and machinery. MD Spring FurBQ - Date TBD

Movie Meet - Saturday 10 March
Posted 13 years agoWe will be heading over to Arrundel Mills Cinemark Egyptian for a Furry Movie night.
Suggested Movie: The Lorax (3D)
We will be meeting at the theatre at 6pm so we can see the 7pm movie. For those who wish to eat before the movie, meet at the food court at 5pm.
Notes: The Cinemark Egyptian will allow us to wear fursuits to the movie (provided you take off the head in the screening room.) The mall, however, will not. If you plan to be at the food court, you will need to leave the fursuit outside. However, once we are going to the theater, you can go out and get it. If you enter at the doors by the egyptian facade, you only cross about 20 feet of mall and your on theatre property. We have successfully suited there without issue before.
If you do not want to suit, thats fine too, its not required.
----
To those who may be concerned that meets are always in Anne Arrundel, we are open to ideas that are in other areas, and would love to see them happen. You can host them yourself, and we will announce it, or send the idea to us and we will see about scheduling it in.
You can contact

luckyplurcoonMeet this weekend, addition of an admin...and stuff to come.
Posted 13 years agoOk, so we would like to do a meet this weekend.
Since many are not available until the evening, we were thinking of doing either a Movie Meet, or we could go do Galaxy Golf (blacklight minigolf). Let us know which you would be interested in.
There will be a Rocky Horror Meet put on by beltway furs on May 5th. Mark your calanders.
Finally,
Luckyplurcoon and us have been discussing lots of ideas for future meets, community service, and more. We have been greatly impressed by his willingness to contribute time and attention to the group. Due to this, and the fact that we are (at the moment) very busy planning for our wedding, we are adding Lucky as a group admin. He can be contacted as well as us with your ideas, and will be posting meet information up to the group when we are unable to.
If you have any questions or concerns, let me know.

February has been a busy month (at least for us). We staffed at Katsucon, and suited there, although Irime and I missed the furmeet by about 20 mins.
This weekend is the Delaware furbowl on Sat the 25th. Irime, Myself and Chevy are all going to be there.
I have not been able to get in touch with anyone for a community service event. I cannot contact Maryland FoodBank unless I have a minimum of 10 definites that will go there for at least four hours.
Our next planned furmeet will be scheduled in March. We are planning to go to Galaxy Golf at one of the malls. Basically, this is blacklight glow in the dark minigolf. Since its in a mall, we will not be able to fursuit, unless we want to get together somewhere ahead of time and tromp around.
News on the Baltimore Furry Con = "The number of submissions placed in the survey is taking time to narrow down to 10 selectees for voting by the public. As soon as we have 10 selected, we will be submitting a new survey to choose a winner. Once we have a decided name, we will not only begin forging our public face, but we will be working on securing our 501©7 or a not-for-profit status. We will also introduce you to your founding staff members, as well as look to the community for volunteers who want to join our insanity in staff roles. Once our non-profit (or not-for-profit) status is secured, we will open pre-registration. Thanks for your patience."
Finally -
miltoniusprime is hosting his monthly gaming meet on Friday the 24th. He states:
"Cici's, 26 Mountain Road, Glen Burnie. 5pm
If anyone is looking to meet other furry gamers, it's a good place to start. We meet/eat at Cici's until everyone is ready to head out, with a sprinkling of handheld/card gaming. Once everyone is full, we migrate back to my place for continued gaming.
Like most months, we'll have Rock Band 3, Dance Central 2/Kinect Adventures, Smash Bros. Brawl, NES/SNES/N64. For the card/tabletop gamers, there's Magic: the Gathering and Dominion, as well as whatever else folks might want to bring. If it isn't on that list, and you'd want to play it with others, bring it and we'll set up a TV for you (though my 360 gets priority on the bigger TV).
If you're interested but can't make it to (or would rather not go to) Cici's, send me an email at MiltoniusPrime[at]gmail.com and I'll give you the address. Be prepared if you have cat allergies. Tails and ears are fine, but keep the fursuits at home (reduced field of vision + potentially expensive electronics = not good)."
Thats all for now... stay tuned for more updates. Remember, we want YOU to be involved. Send us ideas, or organize meets/events of your own and let us know when they are. Even if we cant make it, we will certainly post info about it.

Baltimore Fur Con > Name the Con Contest.
Posted 14 years agoGreetings to All,
I am posting the paste of the follow email:
\\
Greetings,
So far, no other groups have emailed to get information directly from us, as we do not have name for the group yet, we do not wish to make an FA account, so will continue to send you info in the hopes that you will indulge things until we have a definitive plan and identity.
First -> To answer a question posed: at this time, the Chairman of our hopefully annual event has expressed a wish to remain anonymous until quote> We have all our ducks in a row </quote. With that, he has extended that to cover all the members that are coming on board to form the founding staff. Its not that we fear anything, but right now we are merely getting information an intial plans into place. While we fully expect this will happen with your help, we do not want to roll peoples names out into the thick of things until we have fully established the ground work to ensure this will happen.
First and foremost, we need to determine a name. Once we have a name, we will be able to register as a 501©. Once that is complete, we can begin planning the convention itself. Once the 501© is established, we will make a "Fur-Press" release that will not only introduce you to the founding staff, but also lay the groundwork for starting the full time planning of the convention. The reasoning behind this decision is that we do not want to engage peoples names, reputations and/or personals into this.
and now..

Survey Results - from Baltimore Furry Con
Posted 14 years agoIn response to a few people asking us if we knew any of the results for the survey that was recently passed out, we got some information for you. This was the answer. When asked about releasing the source of the survey, the response was:
"We are very excited to be planning to make a con. We really would like to see it happen as we have thought for a long time that there should be one in our area. However, we do not want to go public with everything until all our ducks are in a row. At this stage, we are merely fact finding. When we go into full planning mode we will be in a better position to give more information. However, we are thinking about having a contest in the near future to "Name the Con". We really want this to be *YOUR* furry con, so we can think of no better way than to have the community name it."
So here are the results as passed to us. They again are encouraging that this information be passed around. They have also stated that if any other groups would like to get this news directly to email them at baltofurcon (at) gmail.com
so without further ado... the results

Please note, the only conventions we currently feel we DEFINITELY do not want to conflict with are Katsucon, FWA, Anthrocon, Otakon, AnimeUSA, and FA:U. New years furry ball is a one night event in January.
Jan 14 8.38%
Feb (katsucon Baltimore) 3 1.80%

Question 4
We are planning for the staples of a con (fursuit lounge, photo suite, panels, gaming, video games, etc). Are there any other ideas you may have?
This question had a lot of great answers ranging from masquerades, to story times. The most commonly seen things at a convention were prevelant. Rave/dance of course.
Question 5
How much would you be willing to pay for a weekend pass? For a Saturday Pass?
Out of 152 responses the price range from $25 to $250. The average across all answers was $45 which seems to us like a reasonable rate.
Question 6
Would you be likely to purchase a vendors table at the convention?
Yes 36 21.69%
No 85 51.20%
Maybe 45 27.11%
Question 7
How do you feel about the convention being rated as a "Clean Con"? i.e. No events, activities, or publicly displayed vendor items above a rated PG-13 or R level?
Sounds Awesome! 26 15.66%
I'd be ok with that. 67 40.36%
eh I dont care. 60 36.14%
No adult stuffs? Oh hell no I wont go. 13 7.83%
Question 8
What benefits would you expect from a Sponsor or higher level of attendance?
Answers here ranged from the standard sponsor type fare, to discount passes at local food places, seperate reg line/event lines, dinners, etc. Pretty standard stuff.
Question 9
If an all-inclusive package (Sponsorship, hotel room, etc) for possibly $500 or more, would you be interested in registering for it?
Yes 77 47.24%
No 86 52.76%
Question 10 was for additional comments, all of which were very positive but would take too much room to post here.

Gaming Meet, Feb Plans, and a reminder
Posted 14 years agoOk, first out of the shoot for this edition of the CMDfur.
Gaming! Miltoniusprime is hosting a gaming meet, and is inviting YOU! (Please note at the bottom that this is a NON FURSUIT meet. No distractions from the games. )
"Gaming meet on 1/27. YOU ARE ALREADY FED.
As usual, we'll be meeting at the Cici's in the Southdale Shopping Center,
located at 26 Mountain Road in Glen Burnie. We start at 5, and usually set up
camp at the tables near the front door (since they can be easily moved if more
people arrive). Once everyone has had their fill, we migrate back to my place
for console/card gaming. Expect to see Rock Band 3, Dance Central 2, Smash
Bros. Brawl, some classic gaming on NES/SNES/N64, handhelds, and some Magic: the Gathering and Dominion if you're into card games.
If you want to play it, and you don't think we'll have it, bring it. Even if
nobody else wants to play it, it's good to have options. If you'd like any more
information, or can't make it to Cici's but would like to join us afterward,
send me a message and I'll try to get back to you ASAP.
I normally don't advertise my meets on FA, so for anyone interested in joining us, this is a fur-friendly but not fur-exclusive meet. Please leave your fursuits at home, as the focus is on the games. Be polite, be hygienic, and be careful around anything that might get damaged, but have fun. "
Plans for February
We would like to start planning ahead for at least two meets a month. One is a community service meet, i.e. Childrens Hospital visit, park clean up, food bank work, etc etc etc. It's really important that we get out there into the community so that people will get to know us and who we are.
The second would be a FUN meet... this could include things like, movie meets, furbowls, FurBQ, fursuiting runs (i.e. we get in fursuit and just kinda wander around a shopping area or park and just being goofy), etc.
ALL IDEAS for these events are welcome. The more ideas we have, the better we have.
REMINDER: If you want to get in touch with us to ask a question, post a meet notice, or otherwise discuss something related to CMD... Please send a note to either
kitdrago or
irime. You will get a MUCH faster response that way.

Posted 14 years agoWe have a survey that is asking questions about a possible Baltimore Furry Con starting in 2013. Its been asked to be passed around so that the opinion of the furs in the area could be included in the planning. If anyone is interested in providing input into this, please feel free to follow the link.

DE Furbowl
Posted 14 years agoAs you know, the first DE Furbowl of 2012 will be Jan 28th.
As of right now
irime is planning to attend. More than likely
kitdrago will be going too. Yes, I know.. change from the last journal.
If anyone else plans to go, let us know here.
Also, Kaprikaaz is hosting a general meet this friday beginning at the Annapolis Mall food course at 7pm. Since its in a mall, I expect this would be a non-fursuiting event. She is also planning for a spring park meet sometime around the end of March. When she has enough interest in a particular date, she will pass along details.
As of right now
irime is planning to attend. More than likely
kitdrago will be going too. Yes, I know.. change from the last journal. If anyone else plans to go, let us know here.

Happy Holidays
Posted 14 years agoGreetings to you all from Central Maryland!
We hope that everyone is having a great holiday, no matter what you choose to celebrate. Irime and I just got back from a week with the family, which included a wedding. UGH! The stress.

Upcoming Events:
JAN 2012
Furstivus - Dec 29 - Jan 1
Kit & Irime are on staff for this event. Irime will also have a dealers table, and will be presenting a panel on basic plushie making. We have two spots open in our hotel room if anyone else is attending and would like to cut their hotel costs down. Rules: Must be 21 or over due to the presence of alcohol in the room, drama llama free, must pay your share of the weekends cost BEFORE you are allowed in the room (no iou, no "Ill get it from the atm later"). All other rules are basic common courtesy (i.e. letting rest of the roommates know if your bringing someone to the room). If you are interested, please note KitDrago your interest. Noting us DOES NOT guarantee space in the room until we have replied back to confirm your name will be on the occupant list.
Furbowl - Furst State has not posted a 2012 schedule. As soon as they do, we will see about planning to go as a group.
FEB 2012
Katsucon Feb 17-19 (National Harbor Maryland)
One of the regions biggest Anime conventions has a large and growing fur population that attend it. Come on over and help us make the furry community bigger. Kit and Irime are staff at this event as well.
Once the holidays are over, we will be planning for future events. Feel free to send your suggestions to us. One possible suggestion that we wanted to present would be going as a group to volunteer a few hours at the Maryland Food Bank. We would need at least 7 definite people up to 13.
Thats all for now, see you soon.
