.: Oh Boy, Here I Go Craftin' Again... :.
Posted 8 years agoMaking a renewed effort to actually share the increasingly physical designwork I've been doing offline.
If previous years have been any indication, time won't be slowing down, and 2018 is going to be a torrent of everything, all at once, all of the time.
How exciting! How exhausting!
That said, I'll just keep on working, start leaving more semi-tangible evidence of my existence here, and remembering to b r e a t h e . . .

Chaos Writes Words [AC15]
Posted 10 years agoSomewhere between endless waiting and endless motion, an entire week passed, and I only have a mosaic of memories to show for it.
I'm still feeling that mix of exhaustion and frenetic energy. AC was obviously successful from a dealer's standpoint; the acrylic tags got nonstop attention, and I've got weird shaved-off portions of my thumb cuticles from filing through narrow plastic and cardboard partitions a few thousand times over. Most everything else sold well, but the majority of my attention was diverted to the aforementioned, even when friends stopped by (unfortunately). Even the runes sold out without much advertising prior, and more will eventually be forthcoming. I still need to go over the remaining stock of books, reopen the Etsy store, prep the other items..ughh...tomorrow. Probably.
More to the point, the con was an enjoyable experience, business time and otherwise. It could very well be that I'm lowering my guard a little more these days. If we happened to hang out outside of the Den for any amount of time (especially on Sunday night), that was an excellent time and I'm thankful for it. We should do it again sometime. Until then...

Countdown to AC...
Posted 10 years agoAnd with that, I think we're finally locked and loaded for a long-range roadtrip. We'll be manning tables B13/B14 and selling all sorts of stuff, some of which we still haven't mentioned online. You can check my 'yena's journal post below for some actual examples and a little more info. See you all there...

Hey, look over there!
Posted 11 years agoDespite the stagnant activity of my own page, there have been some super swell artists creating renditions of Chaos, which far surpass my own abilities. The aforementioned zhur dragon is about to turn another year older, at that. Check these out (because I doubt anyone regularly views my page and would catch them otherwise)

Weasyl : traversing the electronic wasteland
Posted 12 years agoThought I'd make a transition over to Weasyl and check out their offerings. Which are already quite impressive.

AC MK 13
Posted 12 years agoHaving been years since I last attended, Anthrocon was...interesting!
For one thing, sales were phenomenal, which fully justifies the past 6 months of intense design and manufacturing between WI and TX. It can be difficult to see the end result when you're in the trenches, facing an endless torrent of obstacles and tasks. We got inundated with interest from hour one, and sold a significant portion at the very start. Having tallied all of the individual requests for species tags (our most popular item), we now have a very tangible demographic for series 3. And wolves. Forge designs also sold moderately well, although I likely could have done more to make them more visible. Nonetheless, the concept is viable and I'll be moving forward with more of them. And wolves.
Outside of being chained to the table during Den hours, the rest of the con experience was like that of year's past, particularly in meeting people in person who I've only known of online. I'll admit that FA's volume of content (and the dismal "all-or-nothing" filters) keep me on the fringes of the community, which I've sort of always done. To that, I provide a lot of supplemental design to Syndactyl Arts and have a hand in most things produced. That level of involvement suits me for now, while I also balance a regular job, freelance graphics design, and maintain the various related personas. There's certainly more opportunity in some directions that others, so I might even become more visible here as my "art pendulum" swings from strictly design, back towards 'art'. Prior to sitting in the zoo, I hadn't drawn something freeform in months...
In short, it was good to see many of you, both old and new. My opinion of the over-arcing fandom is still somewhat uncertain, but I've already made a lot of awesome friendships from the very first AC (that I've attended), have received a lot of awesome art, and look forward to more of both.

Posted 12 years agoI should probably mention that I'm going to be in Pitt, PA for Anthrocon in...7 days. Damn.
Crazier still, I've got merch to sell. Remember those old Forge-themed badges? Yeah, probably not. I wanted to make them years back but never had the means to create anything sturdier than laminated paper. Well, with all of the work that Fishy has been doing with Syndactyl [c15], I got some time in on the laser-engraver. Check out my current submissions for details.
For now, there's still the madness of packing up several month's worth of work and shipping/transporting, while knocking out the last few 8-10 hour shifts at work. Allegedly this weekend is going to be a vacation. We'll see about that...
