Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays lovelies! Seems like this year flew by, but overall it's been a much better year than the last 2 for sure. Just got a few things I wanna mention:

My usual 2 weeks starts December 24th and ends January 6th. I am honestly debating adding another week off, which I will decide closer to Christmas if I need that third week of in Jan and update my profile accordingly. We're not hosting so I think I can scoot up to Xmas and work that Monday without stress :3

As of right now I'm thinking the pricing sheet will be considered current for 2025 and not change. In 2026 however, prices will go up a bit due to cost of living. I try not to hike prices a lot but I think 3 years is reasonable.

And lastly, there is not a lot of open slots this month. Between taking reservation slots and past work load, I'd like to get what I can done before Xmas vacation. If you get a commission this week and it's a complex finish, please keep in mind I might not get it done before vacation. As always I can give you a solid timeline and will be transparent through the process! Rush commissions are +75% of the final price.

Right now the plan for this week is to knock out as much older work as possible. I've got one piece from September and 2 pieces from October that are in this category. I have two bigger floating projects going right now that are on their own schedule so while they are not exempt, they are on the back burner until midweek so I can get smaller commissions finished and yeeted.

Still working on vacation dates, but looking right now to be working right up to December 23rd. We're not hosting this year, so there's not a huge reason to take off ^^; Might change that though, if this month goes well or if burnout comes for me haha.

ahh this is a lighting quick journal, just to keep ya'll in the loop!

Commissions are going, while I for some reason feel incredibly behind, I'm...really not, so trying to be easy on myself. I have literally only one piece of backwork from September. Everything else is a floating project or going at a normal clip and is from October. Strange to feel I'm so backlogged when I'm doing alright.

November commissions are opening the 4th, which is a Monday I believe!

My anniversary is Halloween, but my gf and I decided to take off Friday instead. I've actually been going out and enjoying life every since August. Thanks to Seneca, I did some mental healing and got to reconnect with my inner child, tidy up some old trauma, and removed certain difficulties from my life. Shed what no longer serves you, as they say. With all that in mind, I've been pretty absent from online stuff unless it's to sit and work on arts for people, so apologies as I've not posted art much. I will try and post more, regardless if I think it's 'perfect' or not.

Stay hydrated, and...look out for black cats, watch for flying bats, look for monsters as they can be, and most of all...look out for me 🎃 >3 !!

Holy moses it feels like we blinked and September flew by. I really hope I get to enjoy October haha. Halloween is my anniversary too so, towards the end of the month I will likely try to be a little scarce for a day or two!

Aside from that, this month's reservations slots did really well 80 Which I did not anticipate but am very excited over! As such, there's not a lot of slots open, but if I get enough work done (or if some of the jobs are sketches and the like) I miiiight reopen this month toward the end, instead of waiting for roll over to November. Undecided on that though! I like to take as much work as possible before Christmas vacation...which is only 3 months away xux But I also like getting as much work as possible done before Xmas lol. I have two bigger jobs in the fire right now, so while November may not have a ton of slots, I should be able to still open around the first of the month like I've been doing this year. Am also gunna mark down when my 2 weeks in December will be, (thinking right now Dec 21st to Jan 5th. I am...toying with the idea of a third week for normal commissions staying closed, giving me a 'very slow' week where I'd still work on the biggest projects that are going into next year.) Dunno yet! Just a reminder that all the projects on my itchio/gumroad are not to be distributed. This also means not to use a shared account to buy the project only once, and then download it a bunch of times to several new people. Of course, this is entirely reliant on an honor system and personal morals.

But I can see when an account downloads a project 5 plus times after purchase, or even 10 times. I try to assume that all these times its a poor internet connection, causing people to have to redownload to complete one full one--that's obviously different. But...I often wonder how often this is true. And perhaps in a few cases, people have shared a project and because of that someone has bought it after seeing it. But that would make the numbers of sold projects very different then. I typically net less than $12 on a project that sells for $15, to give an idea.

The more I see this, the more it takes the wind out of my sails offering art packs and tutorials at all, if people just think it's okay to send them on anyway. Each payment directly supports a small artist, and each free share takes money from me as well.

I didn't want such a negative journal before going on vacation, but this has been on my mind for a while.

Phew! Between ychs and comms, I'm closing my work for the rest of this month to ensure I can both enjoy vacation and give my projects enough time they deserve. While I'm not promising I'll have every single comm done before break, I think I can get a good chunk done in the next 2 weeks. As of right now, I think September commissions will reopen second week of Sept, but we'll see <3

This is a long, kinda emotional for me journal <3

As I mentioned a while ago, I was splitting my usual two weeks in June of debauchery (sleeping & laying in the sun & hiking in the woods outback lol) into one week last month and then saved the last week for the end of August. I also wanted to explain the significance of this trip! Less about having to justify my time off and more about 'eeee excite omg!' and wanted to share with y'all!

SO a long time ago when I was a wee Charlie, from age 0 up to 21, I was incredibly close to my grandparents on my mom's side. My nana died when I was 15, and while that took a huge toll on me, I was fortunate enough to have my grandpa till 21. These two people were absolutely second parents. My parents did a good enough job raising me, but they had huge fights and my father had anger issues and it caused a lot of wounds. These were the people I could always rely on, when I couldn't rely on my folks.

They lived 2 hours away on a wonderful lake in a lil tiny trailer over looking it. I spent weeks at a time there, even the occasional month. I learned to swim in that lake, which in hindsight prolly wasn't the safest idea due to its depth, and grew up to be obsessed with swimming. Learned how to sail, ski, fish. Learned how to bake, tend a garden, how a fresh bowl of fruit in the morning should be before breakfast. We'd swim 3x a day, sometimes just to float and cool down before bed, since there was no a/c and the summer nights were hot. Laid on our backs and counted stars like the Lion King. Fried trout on the grill after we'd caught them, had watermelon seed spittin' contests. My grandpa grew pumpkins and carved my name into one, so that the writing grew bigger and bigger over the months. I had one pumpkin live from September to April.

My handprint is on the last cement step leading down to the beach. It was eroded when we scattered my grandpa's ashes in 2014, but I remember where it was, how to place my palm to compare.

I guess I'd say I had a mixed childhood of various great, good, bad, and horrible things. Like most people, yanno? But those golden summer days on the lake were 100% a part of who I am today, and where many of my happiest memories come from.

Due to me being in college, cost to heat the place in winter when they had no intention of living there, my family sold the property on the lake to an investor who planned to rent it out. This was 2014. The same year he died, the same year my horse died (within 2 months of each other) and one of my father's many health issues landed him in the hospital from Oct to Dec, so that he spent xmas on an iv stand. With everything going on, we had no time or money for a big dinner, or presents that year. I guess that was the first year I realized childhood was truly and officially over, and it was time to grow up. Many of us have that marked moment on our life.

Time passed. I finished college, went back home after turning down a few out of state jobs to spend time with my dad, who I had a feeling didn't have much time left. Turned out I was right, as I came home in 2015 and he died in 2022. There was an accident in '16 where he almost bled to death on our kitchen floor, but I was able to provide pressure/medical care and give him some more years.

Shortly after we moved in 17, I was notified that the house on the lake had been rented to someone who unfortunately had a lot of issues mental health wise, and they had eventually abandoned the property. It sat, rotting, and got so covered on the inside in black mold the county leveled the place and destroyed it.

We had left it fully furnished due to the buyer's urging. Ancient, stunning mid century and older furniture from my great-great grandparents time. My nana's organ player. The rocker my mom and I sat in. And, frankly, to quote one of those popular songs, the house that built me was just gone.

I figured that was the end of it, and cried and got angry/sad and then moved on and just tried surviving as covid hit later on in the years.

Turns out, the man who rented it decided that wasn't going to happen again. He put a new trailer on the property, and rented it out for vacationing due to it's location. We didn't know this until I stumbled across it while daydreaming about a vacation on the lake that I missed it was a relative, one I could at least go back to for a few days. My heart skipped so many beats when I saw the address and paused, thinking there had to be come mistake. It wasn't.

Not only can I spend time on that property again (in a new house which honestly might be for the best) But turns out, for whatever reason, they kept the furniture separate and placed a few pieces into the new house. There's a photo of the rocker in the layout photos. The two level lamp they had is still intact and functioning. I booked the place for a week immediately. It's expensive for me, but my girlfriend and I will make it work. (Certainly not like we have far to travel.) We're going to be there smack dab in the middle of my Grandfather's birthday. I haven't had a true, just-for-me vacation since 2015 when we went to a camping ground. The excitement I have for this is immeasurable.

The dock my Dad and Grandpa put in themselves is fixed up. The crumbled little cement step is still there with a tiny indent, where my 4 yr old hand was pressed. I am going back to this place, and going back in time for just a short while, to heal and have fun and be a whole mess of emotions. I never got to say good bye to my Nana or Grandpa. But I can say goodbye to them now, and say 'hello again, old friend' to the lake, and the new little house that sits before it.

That is why i am so excited about august. I know I don't share personal things on here a ton, but I wanted to share this. Thank you for reading this far if you have, I appreciate it.

It does not feel like my dad's been gone 3 years. But while it feels like he died yesterday, there's also days where it feels like he died a decade ago. I guess grief and heartache plays those tricks on you, on the good and the bad days. Iirc I felt like this last year too.

I was hoping this would be a good day, or at least manageable. But since my car picked yesterday to act out and get put in the shop, I'm stuck here in the house he built, and that house is filling up with chatty ghosts. Usually when that happens I hop in Moby and take a long drive to the beach. Today, on the day when I need that the most, I don't get to that.

I am trying to get some work done, with limited success. Mostly, I just wanna sit on my porch and have a good cry, which I think I'll do. I'll get by, and get through this, but it's easier to feel the pain instead of stamp it down and ignore it. Tomorrow is a lovely day.

Tell your most important people how much they mean to you, give them a hug, send them a note. It is still the very best advice I can give.

Just some quicky things.

Current commission load is into single digits, and should all be finished in the next week. Feel free to poke if I haven't updated ya'll privately, I'm pretty sure I did tho ^^;

Commissions are reopening tomorrow around noon like usual, but slots will be limited as I have some bigger reserved jobs for June. Depending on work flow, I might try to release a new ych if the art worms art correctly, possibly after vacation, so mid June or late.

I'll note this on the commission journal, but from June to 8th to June 16th I will be on vacation. I'll check messages a little but won't be around for much beyond that. Instead of my usual 'fucks off into the woods like a crytpid' for 2 weeks, I'm just doing one week in June and then the last week of August, it's a huge trip to visit my grandparents who I haven't seen since 2014 so I'm beyond hyped. Commissions are open! I have quite a few reservations this month but there's still slots to grab :> I'll be getting a tattoo colored next Tuesday (the 7th) so I'll likely need Wednesday to recover. On May 23rd and 24th I will be taking off because my best friend is coming in from out of town! I haven't seen her since last March so I'm very excited. We'll have at least four days together which will be nice, and the weather should be somewhat good--these two days I doubt will mess up time frames for commissions, but if your piece is a reference sheet or painting, that might be a bit slower than normal.

For those that know me, ya'll know that June is my faaavorite time of month. While I typically always take two weeks at the end of June, THIS year I am only taking one week. For June, I will be on vacation from the 8th to the 16th. This is because in August I will be off August 14th to September 1st. I'll update my fa page to reflect this ofc! August is actually super, super important and special: it's a long story I'll explain in a different journal later tho ^^; But either way I have no issue slicing vacation up this summer for it. I'll be around during the June vacation--but August this Charlie will be GHOST and loving it.

So! With that in mind, commissions are right now at a normal clip for completion. I surprisingly only have 3 projects from April so I'm hoping to get lots of stuff to do this and next month <3 :D June I will still be taking commissions and might try to do a ych but we will see!
