Paradim, I have finally tried sushi!
I purchased a sample platter from Waitrose (the Natsu set for those interested) that included salmon, tuna and (cooked) prawn nigiri, with tamago nigiri (tamago some sort of mini omlette), salmon hosomaki, and two rolls of salmon, red pepper, rocket and sushi rice.
All in all, not an unpleasant experience, though I found the sushi rice a little bland and in need of the suppied condiments (wasabi, soy sauce, and pickled ginger). My eyes were bigger than my stomach, though and I have only eaten half of it, and plan to finish the rest later when my appetite returns. I'll have to eat it today or it will be wasted, as my wife,
Painted_Wolfess, is not interested in trying it yet.
I will confess the texture of the raw fish was a little off-putting at first, but I've eaten worse, and I got over it quickly.
Some time soon, if I can overcome the feeling of intimidation as selecting food from a conveyor, I'll have to treat myself to a meal at Yo! Sushi in Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth.

New Job
General | Posted 14 years agoI didn't want to say too much sooner in case I jinxed it, but now it's all but in the bag, here goes:
I lost my long-time at Dunham-Bush job last month, and have been temping as a CNC miller for Lewmar's ever since. The work has been boring and somewhat unfulfilling, but it's kept the bills paid.
Over three weeks ago I went for an interview at a fibreglass fabrication workshop for a trainee position as a fibreglass laminator and fabricator. There was a lot of competition for what promises to be a challenging and interesting role, so I didn't hold out much hope.
I got the job
I start next Monday, so this Thursday will be my last as a CNC miller at Lewmar's (and since the role there was only for 4-6 weeks, it may have been my last week, anyway).
Yay me
