End of month Link
Posted 7 months agoWell it is summer and normally I know what I'd be doing at five o clock but this week is different as much as I did get some spring cleaning achieved and we are here with a post about what I'll be watching after the weekend as I'm out for a few days:

Random shuffle
Posted 7 months agoPost has just been only one comic today but I did get a record yesterday with a credit as the sealed bit was unsealed but the record hadn't been played or anything, probably take to something like the Bristol Hifi Show where hifi sellers and specialist delers put a bit of a show on and returned unsold.
Given that I'd missed totally the issuing of that disc for some reason although I got all others by the same artist in series, it's a welcome bonus and more to the point it did sound really good so at some point I ought to finish off a list and review I did at one place about them but anyway it were worth the wait.
Sky is a bit quiet too as Heathrow airport is shut due to some fire related incident or other but there's no sign of other airports being pressed into use more so I expect the disruption to run on for a good few days or more as all the aeroplanes are in the wrong places.
I forgot about making a post, possibly with having a bad head last week so sorry but here is this weeks blog post:

Flat Friday
Posted 8 months agoWell it passed, now for the downward emotions on a day that didn't really it was but at least it happened although five years ago we got away with by the skin of the preverbial teeth missing that now defining announcement thta ground everything to a halt.
That's the funny thing with once yearly things, they kind of remind you of past events, people like the local Avon seller that passed away Wednesday after a long period of illness that called at your door and things you had back then as my brother kept going on about Gary Numan and his Beserker album whose tour he saw and this deluxe cd box set he's issuing.
Never really into him personally although I've met Gary a few times.
Preferred Talk Talk and Japan meself.
Anyway here's this weeks blog:

End of Month entry
Posted 8 months agoIt's Friday, well we were tired last week although I was back and I was away the Friday before on the train that spoke Welsh and so this week were are fully back even if a lack of springiness in the legs made getting up a one, two, three, lift job getting out of bed before getting dressed this morning.
If you're away for a day or so there's always stuff to attend to like post, your comics and these days social media posts and messages so with all of that done I got on to writing about something I think is relevent to us that was inspired by that time away.

Somedays I just do go right back or you see something on the tv and you remember the actors and that from the show so Its not too suprising I do well on quizes.
I saw the blackbirds and the odd squirrel out this morning when I went to the park and got an appointments sorted for the stuff on the top of me bonce as it's getting overgrown again.

Musical musings
Posted 9 months agoHello from the working faster scene riding the speed of the internets as the wind is whipping up around here so we've been playing a few records apart reading comics this week as I've been resting a damaged knee that has a support on it too.
A few interesting new issues have come out one being Look Up, the new and actually very good Country album by one Ringo Starr, late of The Beatles that needs no apology and what should of been the second album from 1974 by the Swansea, Wales, group Badfinger who had a good number of hits in the early 1970's but a very sad backstory part of which was why Head First although recorded was never fully mixed and released until now.
It's a great "what might of been" album mixing great lyrics, melodies and playing.

Escaping a pause
Posted 9 months agoErr it's been a while since I posted anything probably because it was cold, I had a cold and I've been having problems with the internet with connections dropping out and even been lost for days at a stretch so what did we do?
I read my annuals cover to cover, read my comics as much as I miss Monster Fun and listened to the radio quite a bit and did get out later on this week as the snow cleared to play in the park which is my kind of thing really.
I also must find me log in for one site at some point and get back to a bit more childrens book reading really although I had some records just after Christmas that I listened to.
Some thoughts around that are in today's blog:

Enter the New Year
Posted 10 months agoChristmas came, got consumed, got enjoyed for the company and we're all back now here apart from my tummy muttering as it's a bit bad in spots from too rich food like Xmas Puddings and that so I'd normally be about except it's like an ice rink here and we're due snow later today or tomorrow depending which weather forecasters you care to believe.
We did have some money a mountain of books and a few records although I have a number on order for whenever they feel like releasing them the projected dates for that keep going backwatds and forwards so I have expect jackets sitting around waiting to get married to the vinyl whenever the label says it's okay to let them out.
They may be some fun as the internet is due to get changed next week so posting might be delayed assuming these guys do really know what they're doing.
We have a new blog entry although there was was on the week before:

Backatcha!
Posted 11 months agoOkay so we are lat due to all that computer based faff which is some 75% sorted with having to wait for its replacement to come, find a good few hours to devote to setting up its account, the many upgrades and buying and reinstalling the programs that left it dead cos really programs that run on the machine rather than in the browser are the only reason I'd bother with a windows machine.
I tend to find most everyday can be done at least as well if not better on a Chromebook that just fires up ready to work in seconds so it's that and copying music with programs such as the dead brilliant dbPoweramp that has no replacement on Chrome really that matters.
Mr Claus should be coming around tomorrow thans to Scouts who I do give much across the year as it makes such a difference in the lives of children and young people.
My thoughts tend to turn to the past at this time and that's what the blog is about this week:

Now for tea!

Blown up Friday
Posted 11 months agoIt hasn't been a great morning with things blowing about and for that matter up as the Windows Laptop was running while the storm was all around then complained of Hard Drive failure, so you follow the prompt to let it restart reapiring itself where upon it refuses to move of the User Name page with no ability to click to turn off.
Messing around the Bios shows it only appears to have Windows 8 although I bought with Windows 10 installed so maybe the bit of the hard drive that has the operating system has gorn???
I've ordered another machine with Windows 11 on as I only use mainly for photo processing and copying cds to which you can't easily do on Chrome - Pixlr is good for basics and we'll have to sort the software out and better browsers like Chrome.

Twin album friday
Posted 11 months agoGoing a bit overcast here so I'm expecting rain here as that were forecast earlier on but for late morning and it hasn't happened as yet so we'll see as the weather patterns heretend to be a bit different from the areas they centre the forecasts on.
I'm expecting either tomorrow or possibly Monday a triple record thatI seemed to haveforgotten all about getting at the time and I spotted a mint condition copy just slight indentation in the jacket for less than typicall you'd be charged so it's a matter of being pragmatic and concentrating in getting a more than good enough copy rather than a totally perfect one at a much higher cost.
I wasa bit low on money back then and I propably just kept putting it off but as a new item, they're gone. Splat!
Gotta be a moral in there somewhere although I'm taking no moral lessons from the former Transport Secretary - who did she think she was fooling as fraud is a very serious matter..
No one fools me.
This week is the final bit of serious around the launch of an iconic series of compilations:

Stay warm edition
Posted 11 months agoWe missed Wednesday, last weeks post on IK somehow got detached from me main journal on here and hasn't been able to moved back in and wednesday like most of this weekj was really rather cold and snowy, snowy enough to had need the bin being put out early and on the Tuesday I was srill bared legged with me thick coat and that on.
The last couple of days have been a few degrees colder so I need to wrap up rather more as much as I don't enjoy it and wobble around to put stuff in bins and all that and otherwise stay by the fire playing some music and reading to keep warm.
I am expecting a few records today and indeed did play a couple of double albums of music from 1985 across the week which was a nice bit of time travelling to places, people and things I did back then and I did generally like more of that music than that of the last few years to be honest.
This weeks blog looks at couple of those records and what's nice about them.

Moving toward Advent
Posted 11 months agoFriday and the town centre lights get switched on this weekend after all the Halloween, Guy Fawkes Night and Remembrance events have run as much as each and everyone played a part in my boyhood even if we did All Saints before they imported Halloween's Trick and Treats which would back then of seen us warned off if not dragged to our parents.
I always liked these events cos really about people and being together as a community which I think matters a lot is this age of staring into screens, talking to your mate on your device even if he's next to you!
After sorting the washing up done I think I'll settle to play a record I got earlier in the week before having an ice cream before Blue Peter at five and me Fish Fingers and Chips.
This weeks blog looks at a constant irritant in me life.

Weekend thoughts
Posted 12 months agoWell it's posting day and the post has been here to with both the Amazon and Royal Mail coming with various goodies from the odd cd of hits of my earlier days that I'm playing right now actually, replacements for my meagre clothing selection not being big on tonnes of variety more three of this two of that almost uniform kind.
Well you can't get uniform out of me really as it was simple, hardwearing and didn't need bags of thought putting together whole looks and that when I could use that time for more fun stuff like play and maybe learning the odd thing although I'll swear I was fitted with Math resistant cap and not much good with numbers.
I enjoyed the Royal British Legion Rembrance service and the Remembrance Sunday event, it was always stuff I did growing up, marching with me poppy on and even laying the odd wreath with Scouts.
That act of laying the wreath always hit home with me with the Last Post.
Yeah I feel emotional at times.

Notes on Friday
Posted 12 months agoIt is Friday so it's journal time as I have a few new comics to come such as November's AdventureMaxPlus, Monster Fun and this weeks Beano apart from the fortnights Commando War Comics to read across the weekend which includes Rembrance Sunday on the 10th which I loved marching with the Cubs and Scouts, attending the service and laying a wreath.
There has been a pile of cds that came late last week I've been slowly working through after finishing off Now Yearbook 1977 in it's four cd book form with notes on each song which does take us to this weeks blog where the how we hear these discs is the topic.

A spoonful of rest on Friday
Posted a year agoThe week has been a bit spooky although I wasn't feeling too well so I settled into reading my comics including the back ordered Adventure Max as when the subscriptiojn mysteriously got messed up and eventually sorted it, they sent me Octobers first rather than the the then current one when I subscribed.
There are may spooky things around here that have helped keep my spirits up and there is of course Blue Peter tonight to watch so hopefully by next Wednesday I'll be feeling better as I have places to go that day locally.

Still recovering...
Posted a year agoStill on the sniffs here, not the easiest of tasks to take out a record to play when you nose feels like it's entered a marathon, not a snicker dripping session trying to it and the object well apart as having cleaned it you don't wish to add owt like as much as playing a old record is at least about as much the memories you associate with hearing it.
Me new exciting Scouts blanket to go with me sleeping bag came to which is as well given we're well into Autumn and it soon get s to cold nights sleeping under the stars which better than seeing stars which is what I did the other week when I nearly knocked myself out on a brick well that kind of hurt.
This weeks comics such as the Beano are in and that takes us to today's blog entry:

Barking this way
Posted a year agoThere should of been a Journal but I was coffin me guts out all week and indeed it kept me awake for two flamin' nights for good measure so I didn't get around to doing owt on Wednesday at all and Friday was a bit of a struggle but I did read my comics and play some music both from that new Vaults 1984 cd set that certainly brought back a lot of memories and some lps that came and got cleaned ready to play.
Fortunately my turntable stops at the end unless you tell it otherwise so if you drift off it's not a disaster and for all else there's the radio for Boom Radio, Radio 3 and 4 which is pretty much turn on, tune and and leave for a few hours apart from the tapes and I did get a new cleaning thing as after all these year someone has decided to make on all over again!
Yay!
Anyway this be yesterdays blog:

Voiceless October
Posted a year agoIt's a sniff, sniff, sniff day with me today with added sore throat so not everything has been that I normally would today so it's been more like waiting in for the flamin' general waste collector to turn as he's a good five hours late arriving as we're at the start of the run here.
The last of the crimbo stuff came and I was just playing a couple of records that came plus me trusty vinyl copy of Hysteria by the Def Leppard - perhaps he fell asleep by the bass bins at the gig - with hits like Pour some Sugar on Me and Love Bites.
I'd normally of sang along to:
"I need your touch, don't need your love, whoa, oh
And I want, and I need, and I lust, animal
And I want, and I need, and I lust, animal"
But me voice wasn't up to singing a long to Animal so had to pretend to like you play "air guitar" an that.
Hopefully it'll back in a bit.

Last Friday of Sept
Posted a year agoOkay it's chris on a bloomin wet Friday having been out to the bins but failing yet again to get to the playground as it rained very heard overnight and hasn't really stopped being somewhat overcast since I got up about half seven this morning with a cramp in me leg which was nasty!
So it was matter of trying to get dressed on one leg, one legged dancing by the wash basin before getting the porridge on before falling into me chair for breakfast.
Just did a bit of tidying before reading me comics, spinning a few records before the Top 5 from one year on the Boom Radio drifting back to late September 1976 with songs we sang in the school bus like Mississippi by the Pussycat and If You Leave Me Now by Chicago and the Bay City Rollers and the Real People getting funky.
Anyway todays blog get on with getting on:

Playin' Wednesday
Posted a year agoGetting towards the end of this month now and the effects of the weekend storms and heavy rain are starting to pretty much drop off from the flooded fields and bits of road even if the bins were still wet until late yesterday.
Going going across muddy fields isn't my thing unless you've got kit on especially for it that can be scraped a bit with paper towels before going straight into the wash without any "Can't you watch where you go not mucking up your clothes Chris?" comments as it all gets loaded into the great machine.
Yesterday was supposed to had been rainy so I planned around get outside done early and after din dins took out of the dark corner of original childhood records and pulled out Beach Boy's Greatest Hits that lives next to me Dave Clark Five and Rolf Harris compilations I had that year that went with me shoe box record player then and played them.
That were fun!

Friday rambling
Posted a year agoIt is Friday and I could be better like I woked up at a quarter to Nine this morning which is late by my standards by I was woken up just before three and woke up with a splitting headache which isn't much fun to be honest but at least we are up even if on tablets and taking a break.
There should be a few things coming from various suppliers connected with the great Crimbo due in a few months time so I'm be in pause mode ready to answer the door.
I can enjoy a bit of discussion about things but things can be a bit all over the place when it comes to how people conduct themselves, managing exchanging points can be a bit a downside so I usally follow most rather than "holding court".
That's what this weeks blog be about:

Ramblings of a boy going outside...
Posted a year agoWednesday and I'm back again on an overcast cooler than yesterday morning before I shoot of to the playground shortly for breaktime here having found me Dangermouse t shirt from when it was the other day like I have a degree in organizing stuff, lol!
Organizing a few things for Crimbo as if I don't I can't see anyone else like do it so out with the paper and pen making up lists a draft letter to post to Santa Claus so hopefully he'll get it in good time a do a speeder delivery than the local Amazon Prime van with me wishes although I don't know they've got a big enough bag for "World Peace" as god knows we could use it.
It wopn't be long, more like end of next week before the next cycle of Various Artists compilations come out from me preorders so we can go back in time again in style which kind of suits me really.
Anyway up, that wraps it all up here at Footiebootsville...

Posted a year agoA bit rough today unfortunately so sorry about the delay but I was resting a bit after the odd chore and then time just flew away after a bit of a stroll in the park watching the magpies about and the odd pigeon while it was dry as it's been rather wet this week but not to squlchy under foot.

Recovering day
Posted a year agoWell, I wasn't great yesterday, felt better this morning only to find yourself distracted for a split second and then hit your head right against the wall then seeing stars which is like why this bit of an entry is here.
Forgettting stuff seems to be a trait of mine like I misfiled my Now Yearbook Vault 1983 book cd set which was bothering me cos there are plans for the next one, 1984, and sometimes the book versions tend to sell out being a more limited edition collectors thingy than the card wrap around cover one but I like me facts and figures about the music.
This fortnights MOTD magazine came this morning together with a record that*may* be reappearing as new thing later in the year if much speculation in record circles proves to be true and with some artists it's like you feel you need to have near enough everything.
We'll see how things turn out as the pre-ordering info shows up.

We'll see how things turn out as the pre-ordering info shows up.
