I've been working, and living paycheck by paycheck, so my motivation to even practice and get back into drawing is still at a low, since alot of things have happened. However i was able to save enough for both of us to go to FWA '16 since its the closest con to us thats happening PLUS its on my weekend off from work. Basically its like a small honeymoon for both of us ^^;

I hope going to FWA and meeting some nice FAers will boost my morale/motivation to draw again.

Hey there everyone, hows you?

Sorry i haven't been arting at all as i should. As usual, my days off from work feels like i'm a plugged/charging cellphone that cant do much but stay and be lazy/resting for the next long 12 hours of workdays. =n=;;; along with that, i've been wanting to catch up on some other things i been wanting to do that i couldn't on my evenings from work, like catching up on my gunpla/gundam model kit building and playing a few video games i havent touched much of.

That AND the fact that its getting closer and closer to the time my love will move in with me hopefully between October/November after she clears out one more family event with her mother. Best to do so since it'll be bad if she doesn't attend at all before her big leave. As you already heard or read from her few past journals, things have been pretty rocky for her financially regarding the big move since some foreclosure issue "rightfully took" or STOLE her savings which was a pretty good amount to allow her to move here earlier. Seriously i thought foreclosure was only for home owners, not apartment renters. Then again its Finland so i'm not sure how they do business regarding home/estate.

Therefore my own personal savings from my last tax returns will be her way of getting a flight ticket after i figure out how to do international checks from my own bank. So as you can see, things are slowly getting "tense" to make sure things are set in place and none is left behind.

As for artwise...i did found something i worked on back then that i haven't posted yet and now maybe i should. At least it'll be new material to you watchers ^^;

Also forgot to mentioned a deer hit me/my car while i was driving to my folks, so yeah...a "dent" in my wallet funds *rimshot*

If you already noticed, i commissioned alot because i love to collect different styles of drawings from other artists, from streams to journal orders.

Now i hit few bumpy roads with some artists about how they draw 's character. At the moment she doesnt have an official ref of her character yet, and her first drawn image of her updated character is here: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/11098828/ Now when i give refs, i usually gave these two along with the first because they're the best i got to show her body and face little more: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/12848967/ and a closeup https://www.furaffinity.net/view/13292586/

Many artists got her right on first try, while others i try to help out when theres one or two details out of place. Now some dont mind that i do. However i met a handful that seems to feel bothered or offended when i "nitpick" at the details that are wrong. They complained that they're allowed to add their own style to the characters being drawn. I agree, HOWEVER, these characters are personal and should be drawn to the closest they can to the original, NOT giving them a near overhaul makeover. Details on characters can be personal to the creators no matter how big or small the details are.

Some drew her having short tomboy hair, others draw her ears erected, others draw her body supermodel skinny, and etc....you get the idea. I point out where the details are wrong and just to tell them to fix it, NOT to change to something totally brand new from the original idea. Some artists think i do that. Others think my refs are not official "refs". I heard the conversation over on their skype with friends (who agreed of course) and sometimes they type that out to me. Now let me get this straight, references are images to show how a character at least look. The three i gave them, they believe are NOT refs so they to blame me why i nitpick them. They believe "refs" are where a character is shown from a head and it's body their fronts, backs, and sides along with written details of the character. And then they go on with why they're afraid of doing commissions because of nitpickers, which will make their friends/followers glare at me.

I thought refs were images where the artist can at least get info of the character's design. I thought mine were decent enough. They're consistent with the facial fur, droopy ears, and the curly shoulder length hair. I always try to keep it consistent whenever i draw the same character again. YET, they dont care. A REAL ref is where its super super details of the characters front, back, and side profile with description, so as they believed. To me i called that a DETAILED ref. Yes i do agree too that detailed refs are waay more accurate, HOWEVER, 's character ISN'T that hard to decipher, is it? She's more simple compared to others i've seen.

About commission practices, you should draw the character best and close you can to the original, after all, they PAID you to draw their prized/personal character. I do not mean to draw 100% the lines from the refs, BUT to add your own flavor while keeping the details/designs consistent at least, NOT overhauling their designs to your comfort zone, unless they instructed you can do that word for word. You should also break a tiny bit of your comfort zone when doing commissions, cuz who knows you might learn a few things, thats how you get better. You may not get it right or 100%, but you get it best you can and learn from it, just let the buyer know ahead of time of your strengths and weaknesses so they can be prepared. Yes you do have your TOS to go by, but way too many rules that makes you too comfortable or too protective will result in less potential customers, because they're afraid to get on your bad side. When you do commission, you NEED to be aware and prepared there will be customers who will ask for fixes. Its not their fault you need to fix it. Its YOUR fault you did not pay attention to the character's details and missed them. This is a mental contract when you decide to become a Commission Artist. The better you respond to customer's replies, keep details in check, and keep a positive attitude, the better chances they'll come back for more. The basic law of business.

Here's my tip as an on and off commission artists, always ask the customers after major progress "how does it look, anything need to fix?" this will signal the buyers you're willing to be open and cooperative. This builds trust and a potential returning customer.

Now whats your opinion on the matter. Do refs must ONLY be sophisticated with front, back, and side with many written details, or can refs be simply be ANY images of a character that at least shows fair amounts of their specific details to get the message across? If you're that skilled of an artists, then you should be confident in your abilities and awareness in details regardless as long the refs has enough to go by.

For the artists who drew her correctly and/or was patient with my requests, I truly TRULY thank you and appreciated you for your time, service, and commitment of doing business with me, and and as always will look forward to commissioning all of you again when I have the chance. You're all wonderful!

I know its been a while since i ever update at all. Work has been cutting into my motivation to fully draw and all, due to being 12 hours. I know i have my 2 to 3 days off, but i dont know why i cant do much. I feel like i just want to do nothing and relax much as i can before getting back to doing more 12 hour works on the incoming days. I want to you thank you from the bottom of my heart of allowing me to commission you and drawing the characters just right.

I know i asked alot to fix and adjust mine and my gf's characters' details many times, and i know thats really annoying from me. And i'm sorry if it really is.

But you dont know how much that means to me to fix character details to how it should be. I really REALLY appreciate what you do and done for me when you fix them right, because these two characters are very VERY personal to me and my gf

Few artists in the past has drawn her wrong, like having upright ears when its suppose to be droopy, and drawing her with a supermodel body when she's a normal thick built body. I would ask/remind them of the main details and at some point they'll stop doing the commissions because they do not want to fix anything minor, or dont want to go back to it once its done.

However other artists (you know who you are) have drawn her justice along with my character, that makes me super happy, honestly. I cant thank you enough. you guys do what a professional artist should do, to draw the character exactly as from the refs because you're paid and were trusted to make an awesome job, to pay CLOSE attention to the refs thoroughly, and to fix small mistakes when necessary to keep commissioner's satisfaction high, making them a returning customer. You guys are wonderful! ^^

Again and i wanted to thank you very much, for drawing our personal characters correctly and to listen to my reminders of their details.

Have you ever wanted someone's art for a while, finally had the chance and money for it?

Then when you watch them stream it using your time as much as possible to see it progresses, and it came out very nicely. Then when they cannot finish it, you noted them after if its ok for them to do slight detail fixes on the characters if the image gets done, because you had many issues in the past of artists making the same wrong mistakes.

THEN they replied they cannot do any fixes, THEREFORE, they refunded you with no warning. I thought to myself, thats fucking disappointing. I was looking forward getting an art piece from this artists, yet they refunded when they're halfway finished, JUST BECAUSE they dont want to do tiny fixes on a character's details IF they made a mistake.

*sighs out* i dunno anymore. Whenever i do my YCHs back then to winners i made sure every single details are correct on the character.

Guess they're too lazy to do any fixes or even bother to do close looks to the refs anymore...

I wasted my time watching a beautiful commission coming out, then ask a small request to do slight detail fixes if it appears, THEN got refunded.....

Just some update on whats going on. As title says, April 2nd has passed therefore i'm another year older. Didnt do much except went to work for 12 hours like always ^^; I was joking of taking a day off, but i still went to work, cuz i need monies. But my mom and younger brothers surprized me with a cake with ice cream and had a big pizza baking in the oven for dinner when i came home. It was nice, cuz i was really hungry from work.

Again nothing much the usual from tiredly working 12 hours, other than a small birthday dinner at home. Other than getting into Gunpla aka Gundam model kits thanks to the anime Gundam Build Fighters.

Today is another day that marks 1 more year of me and being together for 5 years, and not one day i regret being with you.

Hey everyone how's you? I hope you're all at least doing ok.

This has come into my mind this morning. You remember seeing all journals of promoting a user who is doing a raffle to win tons of money, right? Sounds awesome to try.

Then obviously you'll have other journals who either make fun of that, or stating out something is very suspicious/wrong of the raffle. However, they stated and reasoned why the raffle was a cheap way to get tons of viewers in short amount of time due to the first step of being in the raffle is to be a watcher of his/her account.

Not to my surprise, half supported and spread the raffle, and other half agreed with the raffle being stupid, cheap, and unessessary after I read the comments of why they supported the journals of seeing the raffle as a scam.

Now I'm always trying to be on the neutral side, not taking anyone's place in the fight. But being how I am, I'm always curious as to why people believe like that, for better or worse.

Yes it is wonderful someone is willing to give away $1111 to a random winner, but after I read the requirements to even attempt compete with over 1000 commenters/competitors with only 1 being the winner by random number generator, I also kinda agreed to the nay sayers' reasons being a cheap of getting watchers with low art ability and instead why not donate money to charity.

In the end, no one is right or wrong in the absolute, but what do you guys think of the raffle journal, and/or the other FA artists/members who sees it as an immature strategy?
