Some people in macro have found me odd over the years for how averse I am to the more violent aspects of macro. Wanted to write a bit about that considering the past couple of days.

Furry as a fantasy for me has always been about being aspirations. I think that for the most part, people create a persona character who embodies their ideals. A highly fetishized character just reflects a set of sexual ideals, and people may incorporate more or less aspects. I fall into the more anti-thesis family of personas. Ciraeon always has been a character that incorporates those aspects that are what I would aspire to, but are anti-thetical to the person on the other end of the screen. A me that I would be if I could.

Shi is large. And on many levels. But something that I've always tried to drill into people getting into to macro and hyper is that presence is more important than numbers. Cira is no manner the scale eye catching to say the least, and love it or hate it shi is comfortable in hir scales. I am not. I am large with no presence. I am utterly forgettable and just a large piece of meat. I wish I was more. But I am not.

The hyper comes more from not so much a sense of wanting overwhelming sexuality as a sense of presence again. A person of such aura and ambience that can be comfortable in hir own sexuality and is comfortable with letting people relate to it on a physical level, even if it is more platonic or with some people intimate. Which is very funny, considering the person who dreamed hir up is a recluse who has no sexuality, and is immensely uncomfortable with anything pertaining to his own person.

And then there's the macro side of things, the seeming expectation of lavishing in destruction. I think for a lot of macros it is an expression of power. To be above reproach, free to act as they will upon whomever is less powerful, in this context smaller, than they are. Everyone wants to be powerful. My power comes in being able to control that, to be gentle and loving even on such a scale and being in command of such staggering strength. I am capable of enough violence in real life that I have no desire to inflict this upon my fantasies. I am an out of control timebomb in real life that continuously and carelessly unleashes that violence in many forms on those around me. Thankfully I am not willing to physically hurt people anymore. But the damage that I do to the people who surround me is no less staggering, and would do the stompiest macro proud.

My characters growth I suppose stems from that I only ever see my worst traits becoming more dominant, and so my character changes to try and compensate for my own shortcomings. More and more, to compensate for the person who is continually less and less.

Thank you for reading my little sob story. For anyone who suggests that I just change my ways, thank you for advice I have been given for 27 years and have yet been able to make good on. To anyone who knows that I am a good person, thank you for thinking that about Ciraeon and the mask that I put forward for the rest of you so that you won't have to deal with the vicious person behind it all. I won't be going anywhere anytime soon, so hopefully I'll expose as few of you to whirlwind that is me when it's not filtered through a keyboard and a screen.

Wish I had better news. I've been put off work for a while, and will be heading home for a couple weeks to go through a change to my meds with some family support. This has pretty well ruined my plans to get the DYCs done, so I am asking people to please have patience with me while I try and get my health back in order. To anyone who has already paid who does not want to wait any longer, I will refund your payment if you so choose. Otherwise, I will do my best once I get back on my feet to make it all worth the wait.

Just like it says on the tin. Thank you everyone who's both paid for these commissions and who are waiting in the wings. The past few weeks have seen me having a breakdown with my medications, as well as getting ill besides. I am working on the pieces as I am able, however a lot of my time right now is being spent fixing the template as each time I'm working on it, I find something I did wrong. They were meant to be quick, but are proving not to be. I'm going to be trying to get everyone in this set of 5 done by the end of this month around work and everything else. I know that's a long time for what was intended to only be an hour each, but I hope people will be happy with what they're getting for their money.

Again, thank you everyone for your patience. I hope I can make it all worth it for everyone.

Hello everyone, I'm going to be heading home to see family over the weekend, so there won't be much movement on the DYC pieces yet. Apologies to have taken them and not yet have anything for people, but I hope you'll understand. I should be able to get the first round done by the end of next week.

Okay people, I'm going to open up for 5 slots for these. I'm not just going to take the first 5 though. I will be accepting names until noon tomorrow, March 25th. Then I will randomly roll 5 numbers, and the corresponding commenters will get a slot. When I get those 5 done, I will roll another 5 until everyone's done. Apply through posting a comment on the journal with your refs.

The rules for this are, that this is almost a 'random character' commission. I will be doing some modification to the template, but for the most part, most characters will be getting just minor redesigns and recolours. -However-, there are going to be some people who warrant extra work, i.e. extra arms, extra endowments, or significant endowment size changes *looks at Rhenessa*. I will not be routinely providing progress images unless I require clarification. The price will be $15 base through Paypal, and this assumes around an hour of work to modify the picture. This will be due after I give you a slot, and before I begin on your piece. In the event that someone's piece requires enough reworking to significantly go over the hour mark, I will be charging an extra $15 per hour in half hour increments, to be due before the final piece is received. When I have gone over, I will notify you of this but I will also stop working on your piece until you agree to the extra fee. If you do not agree to the extra fee, then I will submit to you the unfinished piece. I will only be issuing refunds in the case that I have given you a slot and for whatever reason I cannot complete your drawing.

If there is any clarification needed, please note me. I will be removing question comments so that it will be easier to track who is asking for pieces, however I will post replies as edits to this post.

EDIT: To clarify as Pyrofur brought it up, yes I will be contacting people to bring up some general questions about what they would like. This will not be without the commissioner's input, however it will still be largely at my discretion as to how it comes out.

Template is too detailed. Wouldn't be able to make them adjustable easily as it stands, and I don't want to price bump from $15 to $40. Rethinking this. May toss it.

I'm working on a template now tonight, as a bit of recompense for work long owed to someone who shall remain nameless. Will then see how long it takes to make it into someone else, and then we'll see what I'll be charging for these. Initial thoughts will probably be around the $15 range, though possibly less if they prove to be quick.

I'll try and have the example(s) up tomorrow, so that I can take a list to work on the weekend. Keep some money from your payday checks people. :)

Also, go thank Durrn for suggesting this. Shi's got something of a business sense, I think.

Fielding this idea to see if there would be any interest in it.
I've seen a lot of "Your character here" auctions, as well as commissions of what I tend to think of 'blanks', where someone has a preposed character sketch that they just then modify to look like your character. So, Durrn brought it up and I've been trying to think of whether people would be interested in Dragongrrl'ing their character, when I would have a dragongrrl blank character and then modify it to reflect your character. i.e. someone who's a fox, say, ends up as a fox patterened dragon with foxey ears, someone who's already a dragon gets it modified to their characteristics and muzzle, etc.
Been fiddling with a design for the blank, if people are interested then I'll get a couple examples worked up.

Uploading some pieces of myself and Durrn that we've commissioned from other artists but that I haven't posted before. I'll be putting up a couple every couple of days for a while, hope people enjoy them.

Thanks to everyone who sent their condolences to my family and I. Was hard to lose my grandfather so suddenly (a space of about three weeks). I will still be pretty well off the radar for a while yet though, things are busy iRL. I'm hoping to be able to get some more work on my ongoing projects soon.

Been busy the last couple weeks between work and other things. Hoping to sort through my inbox tomorrow, get to answering a few more of the memes in my prior journal. Maybe post up some of the commissions I've gotten, since I've been severely lax in that. We shall see.

Well.

Guess good intentions get me nowhere. My vacation request for March was summarily denied, so there will be no FWA for me. I'll still think about the rest of it, put money away for another con another time, but it's not going to happen in the next year or so.

Oh well.

So. I've been thinking about trying to get out of the job I have that is driving me to distraction, and to see if I can make a job out of arty things.

Time to actually put my money where my mouth is. I've put in for the time off to try to attend FWA in March of 2013. And I'm setting myself a goal of paying for it entirely with art, sewing, and what will be coming soon of trying my hand with producing fursuit pieces. The target goal, is $3000 in profits by the end of February. If I cannot do that working at it part time, then there is no way that I can make enough at it to be a job.

I have the next two days off, and will be producing a blank of a messenger bag design that I'll be putting up here, as well as a picture of a hat that I've already made a couple of. We'll also see about getting the commissions that I've been putting off completed.

So, here goes.

Road to FWA - 0/3000

Well. I've always said that there would be a slim chance of myself going to a convention due to the cost, but I'm starting to get into the mindset of "Screw the cost, I want to go to a convention." I'm starting to come across a funny tidbit though, getting to just about any North American convention is coming up with roughly, give or take $100, the same airfare. Roughly $1000 return will get me to Vancouver just as easily as Dallas. My old estimate of $2000 a con seems to hold water still, but now with a job it feels like something I could hoard away money for.

So. Question is, having never been to a con, would anyone suggest certain cons that would be good for a 'first timer'? Unfortunately I don't think Anthrocon would be in my feasibilities, whether it would be a good con for me or not, given the time of year is not conducive to actually getting the vacation time. Off-season cons seem much more likely.

Thoughts? Currently I've already looked at MFF, FWA, and FF, all look promising.
