Posted 7 years agoso a while ago i was commissioned to do 5 music box covers of cirque du soleil songs.... there was a deadline so i couldn't do as many full, postable drawings as much as i wanted to... but they are finished now!!!
i willbe sharing the fan cover album these songs are going to be on when i am able to :)

Posted 7 years agohonestly i think im just going to ask my family to pool together and get me a new tablet for christmas, no one’s commissioning me (for valid reasons of course!! im not mad at all please dont get the wrong idea) and idk if i will be able to make enough money soon enough. dunno how much life this tablet has left in it
LIKE i’ll still gladly take commissions so i can pay loan bills but the sooner i can get my tablet the better, so i’m just gonna go ahead and ask my family if we can get me a new one for christmas

Posted 7 years agoso i saw a journal post a few days ago and i thought it was kinda cute, so here's how i started my art life
like every little kid i started drawing in like. preschool. and like every little kid it was HORRIBLE. like i was unable to make curving lines so my clouds were very sharp. knife clouds.
between kindergarten and 1st grade i kinda only really cared about colouring books, but THEN in 2nd grade i got in to dragons and started drawing them a lot. and bugs. i was always drawing bugs or dragons. i was an edgy little shit so i often drew dragons killing people! particularly people i didn't like at school. not kidding, my 2nd grade art project thing was a dragon carrying away a dead classmate. not good!! at least my clouds weren't sharp and pointy anymore!!
but yeah the dragons and bug thing continued until like the summer before 6th grade where i found out about ~anime~
that was the gateway of me starting to draw literally every day.
and, again, it was NOT GOOD! i would try to copy the styles i saw. i was really partial to the styles in higurashi no naku koro ni and elfen lied. little bit o' naruto as well. those were the anime i watched a lot way back then! basically i just kept on drawing. during class, when i should be doing homework, when i should be sleeping, etc etc. never taken an art class until it was required in 7th and 8th grade. my art style was still bad anime then!
uhhh that's basically all i did besides normal every day things like school. just kept on drawing. my life is boring, and that includes my art life. i only took an art class my senior? year? i think? can't remember i graduated like 3 years ago lolol. honestly i don't really count that art class as helpful, my art skills actually went down a bit! well, not the shading part, but everything else did become a little worse.
but Then, during college, i discovered that anime isn't the only cool art style. during college is when i started watching more western cartoons, particularly wander over yonder, steven universe, and gravity falls. i started making my art look more diverse (i had a horrible case of sameface when my art was anime, even with furries). vivziepop was a HUGE inspiration and, sadly, i basically stole her art style! despite doing that bad thing, it actually helped me a LOT to get my art to where it is now!
my art went from sharp clouds, to anime, to vivziepop clone, to a balance of everything i have learned so far! my biggest inspirations are, again, vivziepop, devon cady-lee (gorrem on da, worked on gigantic), matt nava (journey, abzu), hayao miyazaki, cynthia williams (hap-py here on DA), don bluth (various disney films, land before time), and temmie chang (undertale). my art is a combination of those artists + some of my own flair. i hope to add some more inspiration from some of these artists, particularly with my backgrounds.
i really hope that i can continue to better my art and maybe get some jobs as a concept artist for a few video games!! i'm already a concept artist for someone's audiobook and i'm having a blast. i'm learning so much from doing things out of my comfort zone and it has been an amazing experience so far.
long story short, regardless of whether you want to go to school or be a self-taught artist, you can do it. i've come so far these past 11 years and the only place i can go is up! you just gotta be patient!

also the stress about net neutrality was and still kind of is really effecting me
and on top of that i am very, very sick right now. i WAS going to start drawing a few days ago but. yeah. i should be back up and running in a few days. i've been relaxing n stuff and the sickness is just a bad cold so! nothing like the flu or anything.

so basically long story short: i got a nintendo switch, and overwatch is at the end of its halloween event so... i hate to say it but i've been gaming more than drawing.

now, it would not be so bad... if we weren't living the bare minimum paycheck to paycheck already.
i'm going to be getting a Lot more serious on commissions! so please, if you can, share my info around and such! i'll really need the help, at least until i get steady and maybe find a local job i can walk to! i can drive, just not well enough to be comfortable in the city;;;
