Student Loans and Commissions
Posted 7 years agoI'll just cut to the chase:
I graduated in the spring and have been working since the start of October. However, the company I'm working for is a startup and due to the situation, none us us have been paid so far. Last month the grace period on my student loans also expired, the monthly payments are substantially more than expected and sadly the aforementioned work situation means no income and we're not exactly sure when that will change. So, in an attempt to get under this, I'm officially opening up for commissions. Info can be found in the link below, so if you're interested in getting something done, feel free to contact me on any of my sites and I should get back to you within 24 hours.

Another Summer Done
Posted 8 years ago...And not a whole lot of art. This is more of an update to say that commissions are now closed again. This is also my final year of school, meaning that I'll be starting work full time after if all things go well and summers will just become the hot part of the year and I may not be able to continue with a lot of art (not that I produced a lot to begin with), but we shall see.
So, what was I doing all summer? Gaming. Besides the slow process of making my own, I now have a computer that can do gaming and a large steam library to grind through. We have been still doing the Friday, Sunday and usually Tuesday Drawpile sessions (come join one if you want, they're all labeled SoFurry) and those are usually a good time.
How have you all been doing?

Net Neutrality Letters
Posted 8 years agoI'm not in the US and probably never will be, but this is a precedent that cannot be set and is a global issue.
You can use any myriad of sites to send a letter, but this one allows for people from outside the US to send them:
https://dearfcc.org/
I'm not sure how much they'll listen, but a strong enough opposition will be heard by people either way.

Update and Commissions!
Posted 8 years agoClasses are done and it’s summer! That means a journal update.
Firstly: I got a new computer! Laptop wasn’t doing it anymore and it was about time for an upgrade. This also means that I can do much larger pictures and my new IPS monitor should make the colors nicer.
Part list: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/fmvFhq
Second: With the wonderful new hardware installed, commissions are open! Pricing can be found Over on my commissions page. If you’re interested in any part of it, have questions, think I should add something to the list, message me on any of my sites, I check them daily.
That’s about it. Life is going very well right now, I have one year of school yet and plan to make some use of the free time while I still have it.
Hope to see you around :)

Year Three
Posted 9 years agoAnother year. It wasn't much of a year for art, but it was a year none the less. Keeping with the format of the other yearly journals I'll talk about what happened and what my plans for the next year are (and hopefully keep them this time).
What happened this year? Not art... I have a few pictures that I'm working on that might be done by the time classes start again, but most likely not. I do think that I did reach some of my goals with speed and skill, but mostly in Drawpile sessions where doing a finished picture doesn't happen. I also took part in Inktober to varying degrees of success and I might still post a collection of the ones that turned out well. So, what was I doing during my time? When I wasn't required to do yard work, I was working on a game! It's a turn based dungeon-crawler in the vein of Stone Soup, but with better graphics, uses hex tiles and will be moddable. It still has a lot of work to be done on development, but the structures are coming together. I might post more about this when it gets closer to completion.
What about next year? Do art. That's about it. I still want to get better and faster, but first I need to ACTUALLY be doing art. In other words this year's goal is productivity. I might set some challenges for myself, actually open up for some cheap commissions and art trades, pretty much anything that will give me stuff to draw. I might do another 'drawing a day for a month' challenge and do some requests through that too or if someone has a classical art picture they'd like me to rework, I'd be interested in trying. As stated, the goal is to draw and get better.
In conclusion: It just wasn't a good year for art. In the lack of motivation to put stylus to tablet, I found other things to occupy my time. If you have any suggestion or opinions on anything above, drop it in the comments. And as always, a HUGE thank you to everyone and I hope to see more of you next year.

Helping Out Extra Life
Posted 9 years agoGood morning, afternoon or evening, all.
This is going to be something that I don't plan on doing too often: Shilling out something that someone else is doing. Why am I doing this? Because I like what they do, it should be a fun time and it's for a great cause.
In the coming week a 24 hour gaming livestream will be hosted by FeatherHoof for the Extra Life Charity. He's a youtube gamer that I've been watching and enjoying for quite some time, and now he's doing his first charity! I'll let him tell you about it himself, when it'll be held and what will be going on:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4n-PjwLmky4
So, that's about it. If you are able to help out, awesome! If not, no problem. Either way, give some of his videos a watch and show up to the stream if you want, you might like what you see.

End of Summer...
Posted 9 years ago*Sigh* Another summer has come to an end and classes are starting. Time to exchange the drawing time for study time and...Wait, I only posted one finished picture over the majority of the summer...
What happened? Honestly, art just didn't happen. There weren't many days where I woke up and wanted to draw and when I started all interest drained away. Instead I did some programming, played some videogames, worked on some other projects and did a lot of unwanted yard work. It wasn't the most productive summer but that's how things usually go: the moment you have the time to do what you want is the moment you lose all interest in doing it. The last two posted were done during a brief span of creativity and are just some cathartic ones with some musings in the descriptions.
Now that classes are only a handful of hours away I can already feel the urge to draw picking up. It won't be anything super finished but my nice drafting pencils are begging to be used. I might even take the opportunity to sit outside and do some landscape drawings; get a little better at backgrounds because that's something I don't do too often and I still need to get better at speed and fluidity.
This isn't to say that I haven't been drawing. I still draw with the usual Drawpile group every Friday and Sunday. It's not that much considering I'm there for almost 12 hours (and not particularly good half the time) but it's a fun time. We've taken to watching movies later in the evening, held our first official SoFurry Drawpile Movie Day and have another one planned for sometime when we have a common break and might hold some holiday ones around Halloween and Christmas if things go well. If you're interested, we post the latest news up on the group page so feel free to bookmark or join if you want (SoFurry is down right now, see my SoFurry page for the link when it's up).
That's about it for the update. Stuff wasn't done, other stuff was done instead and now I go back to learning boring stuff. I'm not dead yet!

AMD or Intel...
Posted 9 years agoHello, all!
The title says a lot about what I'm wanting to know about. For about the past year I've been planning on building a proper desktop because my laptop isn't quite doing it anymore. It still runs but can't handle most newer games or large canvases, so I think it's time to fork over the money for the upgrade. I have most of the parts picked out but am stuck on the CPU. Right now I have a few in mind: The Intel i7-4770K, i7-4790k and the AMD FX-8350. What this really comes down to is that the AMD has a lower effective speed compared to the 4790K but I'm not sure if I can justify the $200 difference in price. I also believe that I've trimmed as much fat as I could without sacrificing too much performance but could be completely wrong about this. I don't game much but would like to be able to run some of the newer ones at descent quality and I really want to be able to make larger images (though I think that is more of a RAM and GPU issue).
What I have: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicat.....?EdpNo=1820775
AMD build: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/CkVRjX
Intel build: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/DWYwGX
What do you have? How does it run? Any regrets? Does it have at least 3.5 GHz and 8 threads? How much did it hurt your wallet? Any comments on the overall build or alternatives are also very welcome. If all goes well I may be posting my next picture from my sexy new desktop.

Year Two
Posted 10 years agoWell, everyone, it's been another year. Like last year I cannot believe how it has gone by so quickly but seems like a lifetime. It is the season for making resolutions and looking back and seems like a good time to do an anniversary post like this. These journals are going to be an actual tradition from now on for a few reasons. First is as a thank you for everyone just being here and for every bit of support. Second is to set goals for myself and to let everyone know what I have planned for the upcoming year and to hopefully get input and ideas from you guys. Third is for personal archiving so I can track what I've done and where I haven't been before.
Starting off simple: what happened this year? One of the most surprising turns was how much the furry community has affected my personal life. I'm extremely introverted and tend to be more antisocial than I should be but this entire endeavor has slowly been breaking down some of the bad habits. I've gotten out there in the community a little and have started to get to know more people in my academic life. Most notably was joining the Learning to Draw and Drawpile groups on Sofurry. These were the main takeoff points and now sees me drawing with a small group at least one a week when I'm able and loving it. I've posted a few basic tutorials and will likely be making a few more during the summer when classes are done. My productivity did drop this year, partially because of an extended funk that lasted about half of the year and partially because each image is taking much longer now. I take this as a good thing because after one year I can see more improvement and what I have posted now is nothing compared to what I have in the works in terms of both quality and scale. I did find a happy middle in the pseudo-traditional pictures I've done as of late (well...4 months ago) and is something that I'd like to continue going into the new year and experiment with.
That leads nicely into the next section: what about the next year? The plans are rather simple and much like last year. I want to get better. Part of this will involve speed because at the moment I work very slowly. An image can now take well over 30 hours and I won't work on them for several days at a time, meaning an image is finished every few weeks. I'd be happy with a small skill improvement while getting much faster and I have a feeling that they will both help each other. The Drawpile sessions have already been helping with this because it's done in a set time frame and if I'm not fast enough, it doesn't get finished. We've also been doing a weekly (mostly optional) prompt that usually stretches the creative muscles. Scale is something else that I plan to broaden in the future. For technical scale that will involve making images large enough to see print. I'm not saying that anything will ever reach print but I'd like to have the option to do it if the time is ever right. Mostly for this I need to fork over the money to get a desktop because my laptop isn't quite cutting it now. As for creative scale...that might be for next year's journal.
Now, in conclusion and probably the most important part: Thank you. I honestly cannot begin to describe how awesome everyone has been. This goes especially for everyone who responded to the 'tell me about your week' post a few months back. Even though most of the responses and conversations came after I no longer needed them, I loved getting to know you all a bit better and it really cemented that appreciation for the community. I wish everyone the best for the next year and many more to come.

Calling All Techs...Again
Posted 10 years agoI'm not wanting to make a habit of journals like this but I'm a little out of my element on this one. I got a text from my now usual client saying that her daughter's laptop isn't booting. I didn't have much to go on but in under 2 hours I had figured out that it was the HDD and had already picked out a new one to go buy. A short trip to Memory Express later and 1 OS install later it was working...
...Except no internet...Ok, reboot through my boot disk and find that it isn't a hardware issue. Tracked down the Wifi driver through that, put it on a USB and rebooted again...Except that the USBs in Windows 7 aren't working...I do believe that the work around is to save the driver directly to the new HDD but this didn't occur to me at the time and is the fall back answer.
The actual question is what happened to have this not work? I know that not all drivers will be included but having both the USB and Wifi not work seems a little strange. It gets a little worse when starting the WLAN service (and anything else that looked relevant) did nothing and the drivers are listed as being installed (as far as I know). At this point my only guess would be that the Win 7 upgrade disk didn't install them correctly but I had used the same disk for installation last time on a much older laptop and there were no problems.
I'll be sending them instructions on how to download and transfer the driver sometime this weekend but I'd like to know if other people find this setup suspicious. I've been using Linux for long enough that Windows has become foreign to me and I could just be messing something simple up and being a dumb.
Thank you in advance,
~CW

Come Draw with us!
Posted 10 years agoWant to draw and chat? Learn something?
Earlier in September the Drawpile group on Sofurry was formed. It's acting kinda like an extension of the learning to Draw group that I'm a part of and gives us a place to draw together online on one big canvas. Sadly we are a small group and the last two sessions have peaked at 3 people...So, if you want do some online drawing with myself and some other people in a relaxed environment, stop on by! We have a current schedule of Sunday evenings (~8:00P.M. Eastern time) but this may be extended in the future as more people join.
Small list of (assumed) requirements:
Access to Drawpile. It's a free and open source program for Windows, Mac and Linux. No memberships, no payments, no junk like that. The server will be already up and running so you just need to download and join the party.
Graphics tablet or something like that. I'm just making the assumption here but a drawing tablet is generally used when drawing digitally. Though if you do have a genuine interest in picking up digital art and want to stop in to see what you'd be getting into I'm sure you'll be welcome.
Desire to learn and a chill attitude. This is pretty easy. Show up, draw and have some fun!
I encourage anyone who wants to learn how to draw to stop by. It's a great way to stay motivated and spend a few hours.
Hope to see you there :)

Going on Hiatus for a Bit
Posted 10 years agoWell, it's that time of year again... Back to class...
It's not actually as bad as I thought. I scheduled four classes instead of the five I had thought, so less stress. It also turns out that even though I'm not able to change into computer engineering, I'm taking two programming heavy ones :) No new languages but Matlab is pretty easy and I need a refresher in C++. Apparently for one lab we get to clean up a noisy audio file which makes me squeal with glee :D
This does mean that commissions are closed and art will be a little more sparse than usual. I do feel like I was a little absent for the summer but I had a mild identity crisis for the past nine months that took my mind off art. I did take the time to work on some larger projects when I could and if everything goes well I'll have at least one done by this time next year.
I'll also take this time to do a small plug for the Learning to Draw group on SoFurry. If you have any interest in learning how to draw I encourage you to stop by. I have some tutorials up and there's a place to get advice.
So...That's about it for me. Commissions and more art will start again fully in about May but again, I'll still be around and my door is always open.

Tell me about you week. (PLEASE READ)
Posted 10 years agoJust talk, keep it chill and drama free. Going through some stuff right now and really just need to get out of my own head for a while.
Calling all Techs: Resolved!
Posted 10 years agoSo, after being out of town for the weekend I was finally able to apply some of the great advice I got from everyone. It was a little rocky in spots. We had almost no internet so the videos were out of reach and it was my first time actually taking apart a laptop. In the end it got cleaned out. There were no visible signs of debris or damage other than a severely clogged exhaust. Unfortunately it didn't solve the issue...
More (slightly) educated guessing lead to me eventually removing the HDD and booting from my USB. The thing WORKED! A quick trip out to Memory Express confirmed my one suspicion that the HDD had just decided to stop and the computer was trying to get a response from it forever rather than just throwing and error. I like programming and even a cryptic error is better than a blinking cursor. That sucks for data recovery, but the owner had a backup and will be investigating a professional company to fix and recover the drive if need be. We got the replacement drive and a few other things and went to work on that.
About the only major hiccup was the lack of any wifi after the Windows reinstall. I had fixed a similar problem over a year ago and now firmly stand by the point that having a physical switch on the laptop controlling the internet is a completely stupid idea because it is so easy to turn off. Unfortunately that took almost 2 hours to find (mixed in with figuring out why another laptop was getting privacy messages on every browser), made me feel like an idiot and I called it a day for fixing stuff.
In closing: A sincere Thank You to every one who helped. It was very educational and interesting to say the least. Even if I didn't use all the advice, I'll be keeping it close if something like this happens again.
Thank you all,
~CW
More (slightly) educated guessing lead to me eventually removing the HDD and booting from my USB. The thing WORKED! A quick trip out to Memory Express confirmed my one suspicion that the HDD had just decided to stop and the computer was trying to get a response from it forever rather than just throwing and error. I like programming and even a cryptic error is better than a blinking cursor. Calling all Techs
Posted 10 years agoThis one has me stumped and annoyed. I got a message that my collaborator's laptop isn't booting. It's an older model Gateway ms2252 (I think) and has had a real issue with overheating, especially now that it's around 25C outside and has very little in terms of fans. My immediate thoughts were either:
-Corrupted MBR/GRUB
-Bad BIOS
-Hardware failure
I get over there and it really isn't booting. It hits the splash screen and I could access the BIOS and, but it wouldn't boot from the HDD or my boot disk and only shows a blinking cursor on a black screen. Every fix that I looked up needs to be able to boot to some sort of media. The only one that I didn't check was the Windows 7 CD but it seemed like a long shot. I tried setting the BIOS back to it's default settings but no dice with that either.
Apparently before dying it was running some programs and simply shut off. This is usually from heat and it makes me think that it's a hardware failure. The MOBO and CPU usually ran around 80C (95C without a cooling pad :/) and might have finally given up after over a year of doing this. I can probably remove the HDD and backup the data but I have no idea how/if we can get it back into a working condition. The most important thing is to get it booting any media; if it's BIOS or MBR/GRUB related I can probably fix it.
So, the big question is: Am I missing something or is it just an expensive paperweight now? I'm not an expert, so any help would be wonderful, but I won't have access to it until Tuesday to try anything out.
Thank you in advance,
~CW

Commissions: They Are Available!
Posted 10 years agoClasses are done, exams have been written and I'm ready for commissions! As opposed to last year, I have multiple options to choose from with a range of prices. All of the information regarding procedure, pricing and options can be seen over yonder. I do suggest reading the 'GENERAL INFORMATION' section for details or to note me if you have any questions
The GENERAL INFORMATION:
General notes:
Contact:
In general, when you contact me through a note, I'll try to respond promptly. These notes can act as a simple message to reserve a spot, but it is recommended that you have an idea of what you type of image you want and what it will feature. Either way your name will get put in the commission queue
Process:
Once your name is up in the queue, I'll message back asking for details on the commission. This will continue until a price is set and we both have an idea of what the final product should look like. Next, you'll receive a link to a color sketch or similar mock-up for approval. Changes of any size can still be made at this point, but it is good to know that there will be more detail on the finished picture. From here I'll start work. Payment may be required before this starts, please see the Payment section for details. Changes can still be made during completion but should be kept small for everyone's sake. Once the picture is finished and payment is confirmed, the picture is turned over to you for any non-commercial use. I don't sign my work usually, so if it is posted (which I would really like), a simple link back to one of my sites is very appreciated.
Payment:
Payment will be done through PayPal. If the price is under $80, then payment is not expected until completion. If it is over, no updates beyond the mock-up will be provided until at least half of the total is sent and work may be halted if left unpaid. If at any point you want to cancel the commission, you will be refunded in full including any fees.
In general I'm pretty laid back about commissions. If you have any questions regarding commissions, pricing or process, feel free to note me on any of my sites.
~CW
Some feedback would also be nice on my pricing. I have only really done 1 paid commission and I'm not sure whether my prices are too high or too low this time around. I'd also be willing to add some items if I can and if there is any interest. I can be contacted, as usual, on any site and will also be putting postings on the SoFurry marketplace in the next day or two to get a more general audience.
Hope to hear what you're thinking,
~CW

Oh, #*@!...and news.
Posted 10 years agoIt has been a long and rough few months... Classes have been going rather poorly, meaning that I might be changing career options in a hard way, I found out that my long standing job is no longer existent, I'm feeling completely drained and even though classes are over I'll still likely be putting in several hours a day for the next 2 weeks to salvage what I can.
That isn't what made me write this today though and this is partially a venting post. Being the last day of classes, I decided that I was taking a break no matter what. Of course this means me doing art to relax. I usually have a few pictures going at once to keep me motivated and I chose the one that I'm almost done, hoping to do some good work. It's a larger file, I'm running on an underpowered laptop and after a recent OS reinstall, haven't gotten around to redoing some of the drivers; so it crashed. No big deal, Krita asks if I want to recover the file and I do. Upon save, however, I click the wrong file and it was a while before I realized this.
#*@!...
It wasn't the fact that I overwrote a file. It was the fact that I overwrote THAT file. Part of my resolution on detail involved doing a massive picture. I also opted for a single layer paint and to to a crash coarse in brush technique. I was tinkering with this for the past several months and probably had over 70 hours sunk into it.
#*@!, %$&^$!!
While I was running some data recovery, I went through all five stages of grief over losing this. Luckily, that means that I'm on acceptance and think that I can redo it better than before. The recovery didn't get the file, but I'll be filtering through the files to make sure, but that still hurt.
ANYWAY, onto the news. I'll get the slightly exciting stuff out of the way first and then go into what will relate to you out there. For over a year now I've been collaborating on what will eventually become an art gallery installation. Don't ask on exactly what, I was brought on because of my brief animation experience and skills, and the stuff that I do involves making pretty pictures, not abstract and deep impressionism. The final product isn't done, but my partner needed funding and I did up a short letter explaining some stuff on Open Source, collaboration and stuff like that. The great news is that it was worked into a paper and I'm being listed as a co-author in a graduate level publication. It is probably a little premature, but I did get a text and email with some paperwork that I think I have to do, but it's a pretty big opportunity!
Now for the stuff that you might find useful. I'll be opening up for commissions in a few weeks once exams are done. I have yet to work out pricing because since my last batch, I have improve a lot. They will still be relatively well priced, but if I'm spending 30 hours, $30 doesn't quite cover it. I'll probably offer digital sketches for cheaper and will think of some other stuff that won't be as much and won't take so long. If you have any ideas, whether it's stuff I've done in the past, something I should be looking into (ie, badges) or what you would think is a reasonable price, drop me a comment or note. I'll also take this as an official call for slots, if you want to reserve a spot (without any sort of commitment) before prices are posted, just send me a note; as usual any one of my sites work.
TL;DR:
Life's been sucking a fair bit, I'm an idiot, I'm getting published and I'm open for COMMISSIONS with prices coming soon.
Hope to hear what y'all are thinking,
~CW

One Year
Posted 11 years agoGreetings,
Today is a somewhat contemplative and reflective day for me. You could say that it is my one year anniversary of joining the fandom. It was one year ago, almost to the minute of posting this, that I registered on FA after a long period of lurking in the shadows and admiring from afar. This is actually a big thing for me because I don't usually register for sites unless I have to. I prefer to not have any links like that back to me, nor do I like to put info out onto the web. It is even more strange that I started posting.
For the last month I have been thinking about how the single year has seemed to be so much longer. Some brief statistics are that I have posted 80 submissions, welcomed the support of 149 watchers (some bots, some crazy people following on multiple sites) and many, many favourites. For the last two, I owe many people. It always brings me a smile to see a familiar name or icon show up in my notices and I am incredibly grateful for all of your support. I see support like this as something that must be continuously earned and needing of a promise to strive for better.
Over this past year I have been able to increase my own skills. That is part of the reason it feels like I have been here for much longer. I have experimented, I have done commissions, I have had work featured and I have done some pieces that I am rather proud of. I do however, plan to do more and part of reflection for me involves planning where to go from here. In terms of style, I plan on broadening more. Up to now I have mostly done more realistic, so I might learn more toony styles or stuff like that and focus on my line work. I would also like to experiment with more styles of digital paintings, seeing what can be done with older styles and techniques used in traditional. I would be interesting in hearing what people would like to see me try as a challenge. I am not someone who likes to take baby steps, so I want something to dive into and push me. For skill, I want to get much better. I am pleased with what I can do, but that only really says that I can, and want, to do better. During and between classes I have been drawing and had almost forgotten how good pencil on paper feels and notice that I can produce better lines and forms than digital. This means that I will be trying to get better at my digital and that I will be doing more traditional as well.
So, in conclusion: Thank you everyone. This place that I have landed in is full of wonderful people who have been more than welcoming and encouraging. I have seen great people here who do more for the world than I think it sometimes deserves and they have earned my deepest respect. I will work to repay that welcome and support by constantly moving forward and giving what I can back. I plan on being here for much longer and hope never to disappoint.

Linux Bound!
Posted 11 years agoAnd so my journey into Linux continues. Yet again I managed to kill my OS. It was a slow death caused by conflicts between a few of the 5 desktops I had installed; it was technically running, though was pretty unstable. Wednesday was also the first day back at Uni and I was greeted with the pleasant surprise that we will be using a Linux OS in my comp-sci class in addition to learning python. This was one of the reasons that I decided to get back into it, the other involving a new plan to eventually build my own desktop when I have the space and money that will probably run ArchLinux as the OS and be my precious to stroke and love.
The only thing that had really been preventing me from really switching over was the fact that I couldn't get my tablet working and couldn't find a good paint program. When I upgraded to from 12.04 to 14.04, it updated my kernel to one that supports my tablet and now it works just by plugging it in and I found a halfway decent paint program. Configuration is another story because I have use weedwacker line as my nib and it throws off the pressure detection and I'm missing input for 2 of my 4 buttons, but that's another battle that is under way...
So, this is a very small success on my way to break away from commercial products and bask in the light of Open Source and GNU computing! To commemorate the success, I did my first doodle as a test. It needs a LOT of work to get Linux+MyPaint to work like Windows+SAI, but it has started! I might post some of the junk tests in my FA scraps if I feel like it, but will be continuing to work mostly in SAI.
This does lead to a slight shoutout for anyone who knows a good cross platform free paint program or GUI based tablet configuration tool.

Commissions Update
Posted 11 years agoAs of my last submission, I have finished my free commission list. Unfortunately this means that they now require payment. The prices are listed under my FA commission info list, though no slots will be shown until I have a paypal setup. I will be taking notes on any of my sites, though will not be responding as I 'enjoy' the great outdoors camping for a few days and order (if necessary) will be based on time recieved.
The general procedure for commissions will be roughly as follows:
-get in contact through note, including what you want in general (type, content. Nothing too specific needed).
-I'll message back with confirmation and your current position. and you will be added to my FA page on the list.
(Time lapse)
-I'll message when I am ready to get started and ask for details and refs if need be.
-I'll post a sketch and when approved, will work on the piece until satisfactory
Finished works can be posted on any site, as long as proper credit is given (link to FA will suffice) and no profit is made without my consent. Other than that, keep it pretty non-sexual.
I'll also be taking comments on prices until I get back Friday(7/4/14), so feel free to do that.

Thank You...
Posted 11 years agoThis is a Thank You to both those Watching me and those that have Faved my work. Some of you have even gone as far as to follow on multiple sites...Because of this support, I have reached a small personal milestone; across all of my sites, I have reached 50 unique watchers and have received just over 200 Faves. However, the breaking point was realizing that the shouts on my FA has gone from people thanking me for watching them, to shouts from people who have watched or faved me, several complimenting me on my work.
One other note is that I am open for Quick Paint commissions. In the past week or so, I have been contacted by more people for said commissions. These are currently FREE. If you have contacted me, you are already on the list but for those of you that are interested, I am taking, just send a note on any of my sites. These may not stay free forever and may eventually involve a small ($5-$10 ?IDK?) price if I start getting a stead flow and interest. Opinions are quite welcome with regards to this, I want to know if this is a good idea.
Anyway, Thank You again for all the support, it is really appreciated.
Regards,
ClockworkWolf

AARRG Computers, they suck
Posted 11 years agoOK, update from my last journal (http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/5569731/ for those that want it), I REALLY like Ubuntu. It is fast, I can have a dozen screens and pretty much everything for it is free. My one issue is that I can't get my Intuos graphics tablet to work. No big deal, I can use windows. In trying to get this to work though, a 'solve' uninstalled some core things, meaning that when I boot up, I got "Error: Broken Pipe" and it would not work...So the first time I just reinstalled the OS. I had nothing major on it, so again, no big deal, I botched it up. I decide to be an idiot and try the same solve again...and behold, same issue. This time though, I reinstalled the stuff and got it booting...Mostly.
About an hour ago however, I got a notice saying that my Filesystem was getting low. I like to download stuff but even I would notice filling 90Gb with garbage. So I open the manager to check my drives and the free space keeps going down before hitting 0b. This is a real problem because THAT IS WHERE MY OS IS!!! I can now not load up Ubuntu...There is a work around from running the bootdisk that I still have, but that seems like a small fix and I did manage to save some important files. Instead I'll just have to put up with Windows 7 *Gasp* for the 7 days before the new Ubuntu 14.04LTS is released. This might also fix my tablet crisis and I'll be damned if I'm redoing my OS for just a week of use...
Anyway, now I might get some actual drawing done; my last class was today, so I have free time between exams. TO THE ARTS!!!

I REALLY hate computers sometimes...
Posted 11 years agoI'm going to start this off by saying that I am not professionally trained in computers, but have a weird desire to dig deep into my baby and start screwing stuff up.
For some reason, I decided that I wanted to download Ubuntu as a second OS. I tend to be a bit of a digital pack-rat, so my 750Gb HD can get pretty full. Best option: load it onto my 1Tb drive (Great! I can download more stuff!). SO I downloaded YUMI, created an Ubuntu bootdisk and ran it. Turns out I might actually like it and wanted a persistent version. So after a few hours of me being a hesitant newb, I finally got it downloaded onto my external. Another hour of squeeing over new tech and customizing it... I can't remember my Skype login...OK, shutdown, unplug drive with Ubuntu and try to load up Win7..."ERROR: Grub Missing" or some garbage like that.
AAAARRRRRRGGGG!! Shutdown, plug in, boot windows, hour of searching...most helpful post is saying that Grub is stupid and will go onto the internal HD instead of the external, so some of the required stuff is NOT ON THE COMPUTER.

Anyway, this was more for my own venting but for anyone reading, what have you (or someone you know) done to screw up computer stuff?
