Hey, guys.

So my tablet started fucking up this morning, and I've spent most of the day trying to fix it. I was wondering if anyone knew how to help.

I have a dinosaur of an Graphire 4 and I'm running Windows 7. The tablet is reading the pen, but the calibration between the table and the screen is off, and the pressure sensitivity isn't working.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled three different drivers several times and shit still ain't working. Anyone have a clue what might be going on?

I still haven't found a job, and my unemployment benefits have just unexpectedly run out. I'm broke and a month away from being completely homeless, and all of this has happened so suddenly that I am seriously freaking out.

If I do not hear from you about your outstanding commission in the next three days, I will be forced to open up for new commissions and put yours into the list with them. I know it's shitty, but I am in emergency mode right now. My entire life is falling apart and I'm trying desperately to keep from being completely fucked.

Hey guys. I know I've been incommunicado for a while now, and there IS a reason for it, if not a very good one...

For the last few months, I've slipped into a pretty deep melancholy. There's a lot that went into causing it, mostly issues of money and questions about my personal accomplishments and competence that tend to totally obliterate my sense of self worth. I won't call it a depression, because I've seen that, and I don't think my situation was so severe as to compare to something like that, but it was still enough to make me not want to do much of anything, and not much care about the consequences, either.

But I think I've come out the other side of this nonsense, and that's all still no excuse for not having done the drawings that people have paid good money for me to do, and I feel like a total piece of shit for having shafted you guys for so long.

So here's the deal. If I still owe you a drawing, I totally understand if you want a refund. Just note me about it, and I'll start the process. I'm still unemployed, and my money is really tight, so it might take some time to save up to pay back what people spent, but I will get your money back to you.

If you still have enough faith in me and like my work enough to still want me to do your drawing, I will do my best to get that done, too.

I've made a resolution to be better about this stuff. It's been a constant problem, and no one is at fault but me. I just hate that I've let my life overwhelm me so easily, and that I've let so many of you down, and I hope to do better in the future.

I haven't had internet for almost two weeks, and I don't when i'll be gitting it back on. Currently posting from a friend's house. Unfortunately, all the references for commissions are online, so it's been slow going trying to get things in order.

I'm going to try to get what I can done, and hopefully this situation will soon be resolved.

To commissioner, sorry for disappearing again. I've been very, very sick the last week from a stomach bug I think I might have picked up from my niece's school, so I haven't been up to drawing, Hopefully I'll be back on my feet by Monday at the latest. Okay guys. Here's the scoop.

I'm FINALLY all settled in to the new place, and I'm going to be taking periodic breaks from the job hunt to work on this backlog of commissions. I'll be streaming tomorrow, Thursday, August 29, at 6:00 pm.

It'll be a join.me stream, so I'll only be able to fit 10 people. So If you don't make it in, I apologize. I'll try to work on people's commissions while they're in the stream, so you don't end up wasting your time watching a bunch of other people's drawings being done, or miss your drawing because you couldn't make it in.

Life's just... just fucking with me a bit. I know I've got a long list of people waiting for commissions from me, so here's the update:

The money I got from the sketch sale went to paying off my lease on my apartment, and now I'm in the middle of moving to a cheaper place. Couple moving with an ongoing job search and you can see how my time is being co-opted.

Hopefully I'll be moved in to the new place by the end of the weekend, and I can really get down to finishing people's commissions. I know it's not a perfect excuse, and I'm trying to get work in on the drawings when I can, but it's been a hectic and stressful month.

I haven't forgotten about it though. And I'm not the sort of person to just take the money and run, I assure you. I'm making every effort I can to get these drawings to you as soon as I can.

My computer overheated during the stream and I lost and hour of work. Now I'm too pissed to draw.

That may seem petty, but try drawing when you're facing unemployment, eviction, and mounting credit debt, and just lost an hour of good work to the fact that the air conditioning isn't cooling the house that you're on the verge of being kicked out of.

I tried to start up again, you guys, but you're going to have to give me a few hours at least. I can't make a line go right to save my life right now. And drawing like that is no fair to my commissioners.

I hate the RG design. Those feet are awful. And I'm definitely not a fan of all the extraneous paneling.

Looks like I'm gonna have to save up and buy all the MG RX-78 2.0s I can find.

After some sage advice and a big ol' submission flood, I'm going to go back to the drawing board and try to fix this whole commission fiasco. Look for information soon.

What do I have to do to get my name out there? What do I have to do to get people to pay what my quality of work is actually worth?

$25 for a full-color commission is a joke. I regret ever charging so little. It takes an average of three hours from start to finish for one of these cel-shaded commissions. $25 for three hours of work. That's barely more than minimum wage. I can't afford to keep doing this.

I love drawing. I love drawing for you guys, and I want to continue. But clearly I am neither popular enough, nor good enough to pull in the commission prices that would make spending the time doing commission work worth it.

Commissions are my second job, folks. They are what I do to pay my bills. But if I can't make any real money off of them, there's no point in doing them.

I guess all I can say is I wish my art was good enough for you all to want to buy it. I've wanted to make a living as an artist since I was 8 years old, and drawing smut for furries is the closest I've gotten so far. Is it where I was expecting to wind up? No. But I don't regret it.

Anyway, I guess I'll stop complaining now and go find something constructive to do.

So, I've been thinking, and the truth is, I've been charging too little for commissions for the work I'm putting into them. So I'm doing a price increase. Plus, I'm putting a surcharge on nude and smut stuff. Hopefully that'll make it so that I get a few more SFW commissions than I've been getting. Here's the new scheme:

B&W Sketch: $20 base price + $15 per additional character + $5 optional background

Line drawing and flat color: $25 base price + $15 per additional character + $10 optional background

Cel-shaded color: $35 base price + $25 per additional character + $15 optional background

Rendered Painting: $60 base price + $40 per additional character + $30 optional background

$5 surcharge for adult commissions.

I'll have an example chart up soon, so ya'll can see what your money gets you.

Bad news: There is going to be a slight delay in drawing deliveries. Nothing major. I guarantee you will all get your drawings by the end of the day, Saturday. Sunday Afternoon at the very latest.

The nature of US copyright law is such that if a copyright agreement is not explicitly made, the rights to a specific piece of media revert directly to the artist.

This does not mean that I own your character or concept, only that I hold the copyright on the specific piece of art I created, meaning you cannot use that specific image for a commercial purpose without my consent.

That being said, If you buy a commission from me, you are free to use that drawing for any non-commercial purpose you like. I retain the right to use that drawing as promotional material to advertise my services.

So if you want to post it, show it to someone else as reference for a commission, or any other thing that is not a business venture, that is entirely up to you.

If you would like to obtain the copyright to a piece of art you purchased from me, that is negotiable. Feel free to send me a note about it.

I'd like to see how many people both hate America, and have had any significant interactions with actual Americans. Because it seems to me that most people who bash America and Americans online can only do so by spouting biased and inaccurate talking points they heard from some second-hand source with an agenda.

If you genuinely dislike the US and its people for valid reasons based on personal experience, I would love to know. Any actual reason would be nice. It's the only way we can change for the better.

Had that rotten tooth pulled yesterday. Thing was more root that tooth! It was like someone took a wolf fang, glued a tooth to the bottom, and the shoved it point-first into my head. Took the dentist 15 minutes to get it out of there. First thing he said when it came out? "That's a BIIIIG tooth."

All this means that I'm recovering from oral trauma, and hopefully I'll be good to get back to working on commissions in the next couple of days.

Oh, and it's my birthday. Usually I try to go to a nice restaurant on my birthday, but considering the big painful hole in my head, those plans will have to be postponed.

So I got one of my teeth fixed when it was paining me terribly, in no small part thanks to the generosity of several FA users. Unfortunately, one of my other teeth decided to up and die out of nowhere, and now its corpse is trying to destroy my head with an infection.
