Posted 14 years agoI have been hearing the most batshit commercials on radio stations lately. They're as bad as the parody commercials they stick in video games with canned radio stations, BUT THEY'RE APPARENTLY ON THE AIR FOR REAL.
ANYWAY, I STOPPED WITH THE CHAIRS LAST CHRISTMAS. Since then I've built up a business selling work gloves and safety equipment; ANSI rated road work apparel and goods, mostly. Still at the flea market, but different ones than the one I started out at. It's a lot of work, but lately I quit my Thursday market because it was losing money consistently for a while, so there's a large lump in the middle of the week where I can get on the computer a bit.
Does this mean art?
NO.

Here's the approximate recipe, because it came out wrongly hydrated at first and I had to fidget back and forth to find a consistency that worked:
Between 1&1/2 and 2 cups flour, really not sure on this one.
~3/4 cup oats
2 medium-small eggs
~4 oz Apple Juicy-Juice
Fistful of raisins
Fistful and a half of crushed almonds
The amounts are so vague because first it was far too wet, and then by the time I had washed my hands of the dough and popped in more flour, the oats had begun soaking up the liquid like nobody's business, and now it was too dry, so I had to dash in more juice, etc. As I was forming them into little gunky balls, the oats were STILL drying it out, and I ended up dashing a little more juice into it a few more times as I continued. The amounts I gave are, I believe, the end amounts. But I was eyeballing when making alterations, so.
I put them in the oven at 350ºF, on wax paper. I set the timer at 60 minutes, but turned the oven off at 50 because they were looking near-done, and just let them sit in it while it cooled down for a few minutes to harden more.
I WAS THE FIRST TO EAT ONE, AND I WILL TELL YOU, THEY'RE PRETTY BAD. Especially because the raisins got slightly burnt and now have lightly bitter outsides, the rest of them aren't burnt at all, AND THE RAISINS ARE BLACK SO I COULDN'T TELL IT HAPPENED. HUMMUS LOVES THEM THOUGH, I gave her half of one because they're pretty big and she dragged it bumpily into her house like prey and sat there squinting as she ate it.
This was adapted from an online gerbil club, who gave this:
250 grams of self-rising Flour
150 grams of muesli
1 Egg
(I was sitting here like "what is myooslie, forget myooslie")
which was quoted to be found in Animal and Friend Magazine (Dier & Vriend magazine) by Judith Lissenberg.

None; I actually don't wash my hands unless I have a reason to, and even then in most cases I use plain water. If there's actually something dangerous on me, then I'll use whatever soap combats it best.

I try and keep them short, but I forget to cut them for months sometimes and then they break on their own, OOPS.

I actually don't put out much skin oil at all, nor do I sweat unless it's sweltering or I'm scared. I'm not dirty at all, though sometimes I let my hair get a little greasy because I believe it's healthy for it.

Depends who, and depends what they think of furries. If, for example, someone who is completely ignorant to the culture of the web and art sites in general started fearfully calling me one, I'd just show them my art and say, "this is all I do, I have nothing to hide."

I own a fursuit that I built, but don't plan on wearing it, I just like scultping and costume making. Too bulky and restrictive, and I really meant it when I said I was anti-social. I admire suits that others have made as being gorgeous costumes, though.

SROA was called furry back in the popular hayday when it was a bunch of 14-year-olds drawing animals, but it slowly morphed into a bunch of 18-year-olds drawing people, and then the old crowd all left and the new crowd did too because it was now slow as hell, then there were basically ten active members period AND IT SHUT DOWN BAAWWWWW. I moved with the people I liked to various other oekakies, BUT IT STILL ISN'T THE SAME, BECAUSE IT'S NO LONGER A LARGE MELTING POT, I LOVED THAT ASPECT OF SROA. A tighter group of friends is nice, yes, but I just.. miss it. SRO still exists, but the vibe there is not attractive to me.

I dunno. Other places I go include a few oekaki boards, dA, LiveJournal, and NEOPEETTSSS. I hang around Wikipedia a lot, too.

SROA was called furry back in the popular hayday when it was a bunch of 14-year-olds drawing animals, but it slowly morphed into a bunch of 18-year-olds drawing people, and then the old crowd all left and the new crowd did too because it was now slow as hell, then there were basically ten active members period AND IT SHUT DOWN BAAWWWWW. I moved with the people I liked to various other oekakies, BUT IT STILL ISN'T THE SAME, BECAUSE IT'S NO LONGER A LARGE MELTING POT, I LOVED THAT ASPECT OF SROA. A tighter group of friends is nice, yes, but I just.. miss it. SRO still exists, but the vibe there is not attractive to me.

I dunno. Other places I go include a few oekaki boards, dA, LiveJournal, and NEOPEETTSSS. I hang around Wikipedia a lot, too.

OekakiArt is shutting down, and it hosted my animations.
Posted 16 years agoTitle is a good summary. OekakiArt is the site that I used to host the little movies of me drawing anything done on PaintBBS. Once it goes, so do they. But not forever, I hope. I have saved them to my hard drive, and when I get my own website up and running (actually, this might be a kick in the butt to do just that pretty soon, I'll see what I can do) I can host them myself, and they'll be watchable once more, I should hope. But until that time comes around, they're nixed as of a little later this week. I do not have a specific date they will go down, because the dude running the website hasn't provided it. So if you enjoyed watching them and would like to have one last gander, go ahead and do it in the next day or two.
I'm not happy about this. :|

Posted 16 years agoNOBODY HIT ME ON THE HEAD FOR BEING A DIPWAD, WAIT, I'M SERIOUS. What is a furry to you? Do I qualify in your eyes? Judge me on the following:
- I pretty much only draw animals or anthro animals unless given a very good reason to draw a person.
- My own characters are strictly quadrupedal cartoon animals. They talk and have people-minds and sometimes I warp their anatomy around, like paws and arms for instance, to make them able to do stuff like.. like open pickle jars, for instance. (I DON'T KNOW, I NEEDED AN EXAMPLE.) They tend to retain the base behaviors and instincs and diet of what species they are, and mostly live in the wild.
- I built a fursuit for myself.
- I like the idea of playing around masked as a character because I like acting and tend to grow 2.5 more balls when my face is covered.
- I don't actually do it out of shyness.
- I'd never wear a tail or ears, and not out of shyness, out of pure disinterest.
- I have a very weak interest in cons, and if I were to go, it would be to a cheap one very near by when there's absolutely nothing else to do and I would not be in suit.
- I don't see my characters as sexual in the least. I don't even draw genitalia on them.
- I don't like porn. I'm not all "lol ew dog penis xDDDD," I just.. have no use for it. It doesn't turn me on, animal, anthro, people, photo, video, drawing, whatever. I don't actually mind seeing it, though. As long as it's not of some cartoon character I really liked as a kid, then I'm like "NO FUCK NO SHIT AUGH GOD NO"
- I dislike nearly all people I meet, ever. I really much prefer the company of animals.
- I see myself as a human through and through.
-I have two fursonas; one goofier and one a little truer to myself, but they're both used to fully represent me as who I am.
- When I played house as a kid, I was always the dog, and I bit people who said I couldn't be.
- Actually, I bit people a lot when I wasn't pretending.

Question about Furcadia ports
Posted 17 years agoNow, first off, I have no idea what the heck Furcadia is. From what I've gathered, it's a 3D social massive multiplayer game. I've seen several people submit art they've done for ports, which I can only assume is used as an avatar image in some way, right? I DUNNO.
My question is, they all seem to be submitted in the same basic format: To one side is the original but with a big ol' hideous stamp or signature all over it, and to another side are one or two re-colours of the original, possibly smaller but usually without any obstruction. This is done why; to prevent theft? It's pretty depressing if people steal them so heavily that artists have to do that to public submissions of them, wow.

-RUN ON AN OLDER MACINTOSH USING PANTHER (10.3.9). No, I seriously cannot upgrade my operating system at the moment, unfortunately. ]: It's balls sometimes.
-Have at least two layers available, possibly more.
-Not crash on me randomly.
-Able to save in .png format.
Here's what I'd like it to do:
-Act somewhat like Photoshop feature-wise, if you're not suggesting Photoshop itself.
-Support tablet pen pressure with an older Wacom tablet.
-Be affordable. Price does count, but if something's showing itself to have a clear advantage over another cheaper one, I'll pay. The cheaper the better, though; I don't want to go above $150.
-FREEWARE IS LOVED AND A-OK. But I haven't found any stable ones that are anything like what I want.
Again, any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Oekaki is really starting to get limiting with its filesize restrictions, even though I love it working with it.

Posted 17 years agoJesse has had the flu or something similar for the past twelve days, and it still isn't fully gone.
I was all "oh lol I musta had this before and am magically immune" because I didn't catch it at first, and I CATCH EVERYTHING. I had threatening truancy letters coming to my house all throughout grade school, haha. |D
But then, y'know, I predictably did.
So I've been sneezing quarter cups of snot out about once an hour for the past two days.
And now I'm menstruating.
GOD I FEEL LIKE A SLIMY MESS ALL OVER. I have no energy either, AUFH, ALL I CAN BRING MYSELF TO DO IS SIT HERE AND MAKE GURGLING NOISES IN THE BACK OF MY THROAT.

Until I can get my computer fixed, commissions will be slow, as I have to borrow Jesse's computer for anything other than sketching or flat solids, the monitor on the laptop I'm updating from is crap for colouring things or doing watercolour lines. ]: SORRY ABOUT THAT GUYS, will try and fix as soon as possible.
UPDATE:
It turns out it's not the hard drive itself, it's the motherboard. After letting it sit a day, tried turning it on again and it actually booted. Talked to some guy who gave advice on lengthening its not-so-long life, and hopefully it'll last another two months before it drops, at which point the cost of a motherboard suggests I go ahead and buy a new computer, as this one's six years old. THEM'S LIFE, I GUESS.
