Looking for Game Artists!
Posted a month agoI wasn't expecting to reach this point so soon, but development is progressing remarkably well! So much so, that i already need to shift gears and start considering the art side of things. It's official, i need artists. (Which is PAID work, in case that wasn't obvious. So this is a job posting!)
About the Project/Game
This is a passion project with several dedicated people already involved. It WILL be seen to completion, with the end goal of being available for purchase on multiple platforms (Steam, Itch.io, etc).
The game it's self (name pending), is primarily a single player Card Game with a mix of RTS and Auto Battler. It focuses on 3 unique factions/species, in a fantasy and sci-fi setting.
The Art i'm looking for
Currently the priority is on concept art. But there is a clear and ambitious vision; a mix of painted backgrounds and pixel monsters, with a semi-realistic/serious aesthetic. So i'm open to various styles until i find the perfect combinations. We'll need;
-Backgrounds: Primarily natural sceneries (ie Forests, Jungles, Mountains, etc) with only a few requiring ancient and sci-fi structures. These backgrounds will need to be designed with looping and merging in mind.
-Monster/character sprites: 2D sprites with a sideview perspective of varying sizes (Up to 96x96ish). The character designs focus on medieval-fantasy, beastfolk, plant and non-organic sci-fi monsters. No animations required.
-Various Gameplay and UI assets: Buttons, icons, logos, frames, etc. These will need to fit the aesthetic themes of the game.
The Artists i'm looking for
Since this is a long-term project, i need artists that i can rely on to be regularly commissioned for the foreseeable future, as more content is gradually implemented until the game is finished. The ability to make minor adjustments will also be important. And of course, absolutely no AI of any kind.
I absolutely cannot overstate how excited i am about all this! So if you're interested in any of these roles, or know someone who might be, feel free to contact me here or via;
My Discord Server
Bluesky
Quick note; I wanted to begin my search here on FA in hopes of finding talent within the community, as a way to give back to it. The game does feature a playable faction of anthropomorphic animals, but it is not exclusively a "furry game", so please keep that in mind. Thanks!

Update/ANNOUNCEMENT
Posted 4 months agoA bit of rambling first! Feel free to skip this.
Not even half way through the year and it's already been insane. For everyone, no doubt. But on top of the obvious issues, i've had to mourn, i've had to deal with emergency renovations, i got totally addicted to Last Epoch and Palworld (Again), and i hit a wall of frustration with my art. But above all else... i unintentionally fell into the biggest project i've ever taken on, and i've been prioritizing most of my time and focus into it since. Which leads me to;
The Announcement
I'M MAKING A VIDEOGAME! Holy shit. It still feels too early and too unreal to be talking about it, but i just cannot hold my excitement anymore. Work started sometime in the mid of last year, where i decided to fiddle around with an engine just for the heck of it. What i could not have predicted, is that everything just... clicked together. And continued to click together, steadily and without issue. Next thing i know, i have an extremely crude but working prototype and a few folks interested in joining the project.
To put things into perspective, game dev has always been a lifelong dream of mine. One that i figured would always be out of reach. But here it is, it's happening, and now i am NOT letting it go until i have successfully created a game. I'm not ready to share anything publicly just yet (Though i do talk about it and drop sneakpeaks on my Discord, just can't help myself), but most of the core systems are already in place and the amount of people involved is growing. Pretty soon i'll be on the search for artists to hire, and although this is not exclusively a furry game, i would love to find talent within the community if i can. But i'll make a proper post about that when the time comes.
Conclusion/Short version
I'm making a game. It's the most exciting thing i've ever done and i'm pouring my heart and soul into it, as well as most of my time. The art will continue, but it'll be slow and random, and probably sillier/doodlier than usual as i won't allow pics to stress me out anymore.

Blueish Airspace
Posted 2 years agoUrg, life.
Posted 2 years agoJust wanted to let you folks know i'm still alive, and i'm sorry i sorta just fell off the face of the earth. To spare you the details, last two months have been utter chaos (on top of the unbearable heat) and i don't expect things to improve for a little while still.
I do have WIPs already started that i'll try to get done soon, but everything will be sporadic at best. Just when i was getting the hang of streaming too, gah!

Streaming? Me?!
Posted 2 years agoThis is not a post i ever expected to make. I've been coerced into streaming! I have no idea what i'm doing and it's mostly gaming, but i'm giving it a try. If i like it enough i might also do some art streams eventually. I even made a ridiculous lil' avatar for the occasion.

I'll be up for a few hours as i post this, so drop by and say hello! It'd be appreciated. (As well as any input on the quality.)

Life Update
Posted 3 years agoI've been a wee bit inactive lately, sorry about that! Truth is i've spent the last few months prepping for some big, BIG life changes, which have since taken place!
Long story short, my lass
has taken a 3 day trip to join me up in Canada. Needless to say it was a hell of an ordeal with flat tires, confusing directions and angry pets, and we're all utterly exhausted. There's still unpacking and such to do before we can return to a normal daily rhythm, but overall things are going swell.
There's a ton more i could say about this, but honestly i'm just too tired. So i'll just be back with some arts... soon-ish? I need a nap.

New PC Update!
Posted 3 years agoThings are going MUCH better than anticipated! Almost everything is up and running and i was pleasantly shocked to see NONE of my peripherals need immediately replacement. The only snag i've run into so far is the fact i need a wire extension before i can plug in my GPU, which should arrive in a week.
There's still going to be a learning curve but i'm pretty excited, especially for all the fancy new Clip Studio brushes i get to mess with. Might do a few freebies on my discord server soon to celebrate!

New PC vs 2022
Posted 3 years agoAnd boy what a clusterf- it is. Long story short, i gotta get a new computer and replace/relearn a whole lotta things. Long story LONG, for those who don't mind a bit of rambling, here's my situation...
When i built my current PC, i built it to last. Problem is, that's exactly what it did, all the way into the pandemic. Now that parts are scarce, overpriced and delayed, of course it decides to start falling apart. To give you an idea of how old this thing is, most parts date back to 2010 ~ 2012. Yeah, it's old.
So what's giving me trouble? The biggest issue is probably the fact i'm still on Windows 7. This was a voluntary choice for a while, but with 7 no longer viable it leads me to the next issue; My CPU doesn't support windows 10! "So just upgrade the CPU" i hear you say, right? My motherboard doesn't support better CPUs! Okay, let's change that too- that means i also need new Ram sticks~
And down the rabbit hole we go! Because what else do i have that's as old as this build? You guessed it, my drawing tablet! Which will very likely no longer work on windows 10. (Along with my microphone and controller but those are less important.) And the cherry on top? I've also been unable to update my version of Clip Studio Paint for years, so i'm way behind on that as well. Finally, throw in a potentially dying GPU and some finicky 2gb ram sticks (yikes, i know), and now you're aware of the rust bucket that is my work station.
The bottom line; It's reached a point where i have to take the plunge. Gotta build a new PC, get used to a new OS, get used to a new tablet, then relearn Clip Studio Paint. It might not seem like that big a deal to most folks, but i am unfortunately a very slow learner that doesn't like change. So bare with me, i'll try to get this done asap, but it may be a lil' bit before i have anything to post. And boy are my brain cells going to need a nap from the shopping alone.

The Lass's Art
Posted 3 years agoMy SO has made a return to FA! She's the one that inspired me to pick up art in the first place, and many of the characters i borrow for my bigger projects (ie my comic) are her's. You can also spot a few of mine on her side, so please check out her stuff!
FangsofWhite
I don't normally make this kind of journal, but since she's in a bit of a pinch right now it'd also be super helpful if you could consider commissioning her. She's super talented with just about everything, and her art is ridiculously cheap. I'd appreciate it! (Especially since i never quite manage to keep my own comms open, ugh.)

Discord, Game nights & Comms
Posted 4 years agoCouple of quick updates on things;
Commissions
First, i've closed commissions again (Sorry!). Between summer projects and the heat, it's been a wee bit difficult to find the focus, so i'd rather wait a little while.
Discord, Game nights and Polls
In my search for ways to make my server more appealing, i've brought up the topic of hosting game nights. I'm currently trying to gauge if there's enough interest to warrant them, so please drop by with opinions/suggestions if any. We're currently looking at things like Gartic Phone or Jackbox-esque games.
I'll also be looking for new topics for future pinup polls! Extra voters wouldn't hurt either, so i can draw what you folks want to see more often. Otherwise it's always going to be Digimon. You've been warned!

Sketch commissions open!
Posted 4 years agoAs promised, my commission info has been updated. I'll eventually make a proper ref pic for them, but t'ill then you can find it here. If anything still feels unclear, do let me know.
And with that done, i am opening sketch commissions! These are 20$ single character, full body greyscale pinups. Extra characters are possible (+10$ per) but due to time restraints i might only accept ideas i really like. Don't hesitate to ask though! As for color commissions, they'll have to wait a bit longer.
ALSO! My next discord poll will be for Animal Crossing characters!

New Year's Update
Posted 4 years agoAnd what a year it was, but let's just skip over that. Here are my art-related plans for the next one;
Commissions: Hopefully to be open again soon, but first they need a serious overhaul! More specific types offered, newer examples, accurate pricing, etc. Everything was way too vague and confusing up until now, it's time to be a lil' more professional.
Freebies: More freebies! But, done differently. The current doodle requests felt too... low quality, to be honest. I still shouldn't spend too much time on these, but individual sketches should give better/more fun results.
Discord Server: I want more folks to join! I'm already very active on it, just need to figure out what would make it more appealing. Polls on what to draw next? Bot games? Heck, more digimon TCG pack openings? Lemme know! ( https://discord.gg/gyDWxEh )
That's about it for now. Here's to hoping for a calm, productive year.

Gallery Cleanup
Posted 5 years agoBeen too tired to work on anything new lately, so i figured i'd do a small cleanup to pretend i'm still being productive. :D
Gonna move some old pics into scraps, and old scraps into oblivion. Feel free to contact me if some of those happen to be commissions/trades/gifts that you would like a copy of.

Heeey so i started using my twitter, just in case anyone's interested.
https://twitter.com/TheCreature71
Probably won't be doing much with it yet, but i wanted to prepare a replacement for Weasyl since it's basically devoid of life. Might be abandoning that ship pretty soon.

Generic Update
Posted 6 years agoHaven't posted a new journal in a while so i figured i'd make a more relevant list of on-going things. Good time to wish ye all some happy holidays too!
Current WIPS/To Do list; Kobolds comic page 2 & 3, Winter YCH, TotO p14, more Discord doodles.
Commissions; have been closed for a while and might be for a chunk longer. My drawing time is erratic at best right now, so i don't feel comfortable taking payments when there's a risk i'll take too long/make something that feels rushed. Maybe after the holidays?
Freebies!; To make up for the previous point, i've been doing some no-pressure/no-expectations requests and doodles on my Discord server. So far these have been surprisingly enjoyable to do, so they'll stick around even once commissions are back up. It's also been great to be a lil' more social with you folks. Don't hesitate to drop by; https://discord.gg/gyDWxEh
Trades; are still open! Sketches, pinups, full blown pictures, whatever floats your boat. I'm also totally fine drawing more for less if you're a better artist (You probably are!).
I think that's about it for now.

Discord Server!
Posted 6 years agoBetween the weather being trash and my eyes too sore to draw, i've had some spare time. So for the heck of it, i started playing around with discord bots... and kinda accidentally set up a server.
It's very barebones at the moment and mostly focused on bot games (Like Pokecord, which is surprisingly addicting), but me and the misses will probably use it to talk Arts with folks. And, you know, memes and stuff. Really it's just going to be a place to hang out. Who knows, i might even use it to doodle quick little warmup requests once my eyeballs stop melting.
So yeah, come say hello, catch some pokemons with us, etc. https://discord.gg/gyDWxEh
UPDATE: Kinda broke the join link so replaced it with a new one.

New Glasses!
Posted 6 years agoI swear this summer is just messing with my vision. First the monitor, now the glasses.
I've used the same glasses for computering for something like 20 years, but they started disintegrating to a point superglue couldn't save them anymore. So i finally caved and got a new pair with an updated prescription. But oh my god are they nauseating. It's like i'm looking through a damn fish bowl.
I can't draw without glasses, but at the moment i also can't draw WITH glasses. I keep being told it's normal and i'll adjust in a week or two, but it sure as hell doesn't FEEL normal to need that long. It's awkward and uncomfortable and i hate it. :(

New Monitor!
Posted 6 years agoI have finally moved on from my decade old monitor! It's something i've been planning to do for a while now, but last week it decided to not give me a choice. So here's a quick rambling on the situation;
Woke up one morning and it just refused to turn on. Dead, kaput, no signs of life whatever. Had to order a new one, and my god the difference is phenomenal. From 19" to 24", 1080p (I know i'm late on this one), IPS panel instead of TN. Everything is so vibrant and clear, even my own art doesn't look anything remotely close to when i drew it. It's a bit overwhelming to be honest.
This will take some getting used to, particularly on the eyes, so i've paused my current pics and won't be doing commissions for a bit longer. Instead, i'll probably make a free YCH or two while i adjust. And who knows, maybe it'll make a noticeable difference in the quality of my art. A guy can hope, right?

Looking for Trades!
Posted 7 years agoI am on the hunt for art trades!
Sketches, colors, bust shots or full bodies, clean or not, whatever might float your boat! I'm open to ideas and totally willing to negotiate. There's a couple of my characters i'd love to get art of, and i could use the practice.
So if you or anyone you know might be interested, don't hesitate to ask!
