Burnout + Commissions
Posted 4 years agoI already put this in my header a bit, but just wanted to explain my absence in the last several months. Just got a bit of the periodic burnouts that happen now and then- dont think i can blame winter blues, but ive had quite the time coming up with anything im happy with for a while, and im not willing to show anything on here i dont like ;P
That said i am trying to work through it. I have one commish going rn which im happy with, and a couple sketches done for warm-up. Im getting there, and hope to be on track again soon! Plus i just had a rather abrupt surgery (im fine, wasnt life threatening or anything) which will keep me from doing the things i 'should' be doing in the yard, so i can spend the next few weeks at my desk in the outdoors busy season without much guilt ;)
With that in mind, i have a couple slots available for commissions with the express understanding that turnaround may well be slow without an unpredictable burst of sudden ability, but a guarantee youd have my complete dedication. With the sudden expense from surgery i could use a little extra. (To be clear im lucky enough to live in Canada where the surgery was covered. However gas money to and from the city several times, a hotel stay and various other related expenses have put me in debt to a couple people who had to help me out :/ Such fun)

Back online
Posted 5 years agoNew phone came in - man do I hate that new-phone business of logging into everything again and trying to remember passwords I haven't actually typed in in ages. I must have had to recover and change a dozen passwords today and I'm sure there's more.
Mostly I was worried that I'd lose all my pics off the old phone, especially the ones of the last few months I had with my dog. Thankfully everything backed up as it should have, but I was really working myself up about that tbh. Huge sigh of relief when I found them again, I can tell you.
Anyways, back to business. It hadn't even occured to me at the time I made my last journal that I wouldn't even have access to ref pics, so I was entirely useless on the art front this last week and a half, but I should be good to go now ;)
Hope everyone enjoys any holidays they're celebrating this season, and that y'all are keeping safe and well :3

Important Update!
Posted 5 years agoHey guys, I'm just posting a quick update from a laptop I was able to borrow as a one off, but won't likely be able to get on again, and I have to get off right away.
My phone died completely last night, out of the blue. This is my only means to get online as I'm quite isolated where I live. Ergo, I won't be able to contact anyone at present.
***I just ordered a new phone, so I should be back soon!***
It should be here within a week or so, but our local post office is behind for covid reasons, so I very much hope it won't be much longer. In the case that I seem to be longer than that week, that will be what happened. Regardless, I WILL be back asap.
Those I owe art to - don't worry, you are my top priority. You will absolutely get your art!
Sorry for the inconvenience!

Laptop advice
Posted 5 years agoI'm low key thinking about trying to save up for a laptop, but I don't know a great deal about computers, so I thought I'd ask on here.
I'm leaning towards a chromebook cause they're cheap, and largely I'd just need the internet anyways. I had one in the past when I was at uni and I was quite happy with it. That said, if I could get a cheaper regular laptop, it would be fun to be able to get a drawing program, and I've been wanting to play around in blender for years.
Anybody know if you need much more than a cheaper end laptop to run something like blender? I feel like it might be something that takes a little more juice than some programs, but I'm really out of my element there. I don't game or anything, so i don't need to shell out for something powerful for any other reason really, and internet at my place is iffy enough anyway it wouldn't be worth it.
I've never been able to get the hang of tablets, but I think it could work if I could do a touchscreen or something. Which also brings up the price, leading me more towards chromebooks again, if theres a half decent drawing app on there.
Anyway, just brainstorming a bit- I doubt I can afford one for some time, but it's nice to dream XD

Finally got wifi!
Posted 5 years agoAs the title says, I've managed to get wifi hooked up at long last! It's not the fastest, but it seems to be doing the trick.
My art room isn't fully set up yet cause I've been busy with other things and not drawing a ton, but I should be getting some backlogged stuff up soon ;)

Life's crazy, but I survived
Posted 5 years agoHey guys- I'm (sort of) back ;)
Life has been dealing me some fairly substantial blows lately, but tentatively, I think things may be looking up again. One of the biggest points of grief was my sweet old dog getting diagnosed with cancer and having to subsequently put her down not long ago. She was a truly huge part of my life, and has been my reason for living many times. It was devastating losing her, but I'm doing alright now. In fact I owe several people on here for their business and generosity in that I was able to give her the meds she needed to live her last months comfortably, so thanks so much to those
Additionally, one of the other outcomes of the train of misfortune is that I've had to move to a different place. This may actually turn out to me a great thing tbh, and I'm cautiously optimistic about it!
So the good news on that front is that I'm moving to a more rural-ish property, which means I can expand my various outside projects a fair bit. The bad side of it is, I'll be in a mobile deadzone, so I won't be able to actually really come back here until I can afford wifi, hopefully in a few weeks to a month. Really though, I'll be so busy getting a garden going and building a proper coop for my chickens (I got fuckin chickens! Life goal XD), that I'll probably not have much to post for a month anyway ;)
I'm also going from a very small house to a gigantic 4 bedroom, so while I now have to have a roommate (a great friend of mine, so that should be good even if I'm more of a hermit), I'll be having a whole ass art room- so I'm definitely looking forward to breaking that in ;)
(Really hope my friend isn't too big a snoop... XD)
Anyways- UrsusArctos , Thylus , Doberman_Guard , and Kojote_Latrans thanks so much for your comments and well wishes on my last journal. I honestly appreciate that a lot.
See y'all around soon ;)

Bit of a hiatus
Posted 5 years agoSo I'm having a phenomenally, like... truly mind-bogglingly bad week. Or month. Take your pick. So anyways, I'm not going to be around for a bit. Should be fine, I don't owe any art at the moment.
I have every intention of coming back, but I wanted to give a heads up. This is Not an abandoned account ;)

Writing??
Posted 6 years agoHey, so I still consider myself fairly new on here, and I haven't had the ability to peruse the site quite as much as I want (no wifi, no unlimited data *whine*) so question to anyone more knowledgeable--
Just how popular is writing in this community? I mean obviously theres a whole category for writing here, but as someone who has some skill in the area, is there a market for it?
Dunno, it'd be kind of cool to work on something like that on the side, maybe a sort of patreon thing or something even. *shrug* Just a thought I had XD

Help me help my pup?
Posted 6 years agoHey all!
I'm having a particularly bad financial month it seems, so if anyone's feeling like doing a little holiday spending, feel free to hit me up.
I've already had to spend my phone bill money on meds for my sweet old girl, and she'll have to go in again right after Christmas, and then I of course have to keep her fed as well. Since I can't work right now, that leaves art as my only real option.
Currently I have two open ychs, and I'm always up for a commission! Since I've finished up my latest stuff for people, there won't be much of a wait ;) Also, most of my original art I'd for sale! Check description for prices! (If you note me which you want and include the password 'helpthepup' I'll give you a 10% discount ;) - for the originals only)
And I mean come on, look at this face!

Desperate furry, seeks gainful employment
Posted 6 years agoHello, Creekmud here
Just another useless gay, trying to find a way to afford food and meds, which after an appointment on Friday, I shall completely cease being able to afford. Which is.. problematic.
Currently I'm unable to work, but hey, I can draw, so I figured it was time to make myself a shiny new account here. It's been ages, but the furry fandom is about the most welcoming I've had the pleasure to be involved in- it's hard to beat. And I do like to draw dem anthros of course ;)
I want to get up some of my drawings as soon as I can, but I'm exclusively on mobile, so bear with me. Once that's started, take a peek, cause
Most originals (once they're up) are for sale, prices listed in description.
Commissions:
TEMPORARILY Closed (Pending getting up price list and examples, etc.)
Slot 1.
Slot 2.
Thanks for popping in folks - much appreciated.
(And come back once I have, you know. Art.)
