Thinking about game dev and art and other things
Posted 2 months agoI spend a lot of time in my head now, overthinking and less time posting or acting. A curse I am afraid born from anxiety and molded by depression and inaction to address the demons. It has made me stagnant and wary of even posting online. But in positive news. . .
[Game dev section]
LoZ Fan game stuff :
I have been getting my ass back to working on my LoZ fangame "The Great Plateau". I will probably be posting the .exe once I feel it's good enough to say it's in an alpha or beta state. It has kind of made me question a bit on the "When is it good enough?" though. Can I make it better? Am I making it better or am I overthinking and making it worse? I feel like player feedback is vital to such things so I probably will aim for an alpha build then make public. In the mean time here's a few recordings of some stuff from it. Sorry for how some assets look this early in development.
The Shiekah Tower : https://youtube.com/shorts/H9iLy2-cmCY
Oman Au first half test : https://youtube.com/shorts/5Z_CQe3QDE0
Ja Baij test : (I'll record soon, this dungeon is the closest complete.)
Owa Daim test : https://youtu.be/Q7UA8Nr4Xu4
Keh Namut : I half a rough draft for the design but nothing implemented
Temple of Time : I have a sketch and a few ideas written down but I fear this one will take the longest cause of all the art assets.
Personal game stuff :
I kind of wanna take some of the assets and code I made for my LoZ fan game and make a fork of the git repo, remove all the Nintendo stuff and start prototyping a Zelda-style indie game with a Halloween themed dungeon as a bit of fun for October, but I do want to at least get my fan game to alpha build before that. T.T Why must these things be so challenging and hard?!! < https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lehEq7cEmMg >
I did want to make a lewd NSFW furry game and charge like a dollar or two but with all the Itch and Steam BS that's been happening cause of some terfs and Payment Processors acting like they know what's best for everyone. I'd complain more, but I'm certain everyone already is aware.
[Art section]
Fan Art stuffs :
I have recently been really enjoying Fabulous Beasts and The City Animation. Drawing Tuye is fun. (Bnuys are my faves of furry characters followed probably by cats and foxes.) I roughed out a short 8 page comic of Sibuxiang and Tuye going at it and being gay. I wanna try and make it into a whole actual comic. But I do feel inadequate at skills with drawing BGs. . .
Personal art stuffs :
I kind of wanna draw more art of my sona for reaction stickers. And more art of my OC's that are set in a fantasy world of my making. Like I have plans and ideas for them but when it comes to executing them I keep going back to the drawing board and reworking hoping new ideas will fix mistakes.
Comms art stuffs :
I recently finished all the comms I received from last year. I just kept putting off due to depression and other shit but now I'm done and I feel better. I kind of want to focus more on projects though.
[Personal whatever section]
I wanted to try and make a post about something every day this month on Bsky and I made it to day 2 then I ran out of content and ideas. I thought about posting some sketches but I feel that's just clutter and not something as eye catching or as interesting. Then, I thought about posting game dev stuff but I doubt anyone outside of other devs would find it interesting to look at a game that's unfinished.
I am trying to think of a strategy for how to over come my anxiety. I have new meds to help with that but I want to try and be able to just do things without the fear of coming off in a way I don't intend. Like I fear if I talk about game dev stuff I'll come off as smart, when in reality I am an idiot. (I like to roll with the assumption I am the dumbest person in the room cause it helps me feel like things are okay when I inevitably fuck up.) I fear the idea of even having an audience at times cause you go look on YouTube or any social media platform and there are tons of people who live their lives just for the purpose of being the one who took down <popular creator>. It doesn't seem to be a political thing, it just seems like a thing people do for fun and I enjoy being a good arms length away from everyone and anyone. It's safer there than it is to be involved with people. (I do spend the vast majority of my time alone. It hurts a lot but it does help me in feeling safe and secure.)

Mix of things.
Posted 4 months agoFeeling sort of recovered from my depression but it comes and goes all the time and I feel as if I have little to no control over it but I do want to make a post about a few things.
So I've recently been split between a few projects and it's making everything take forever. For one I want to finish up the last comms I accepted back in November just to get them off my plate and apologize for lowering my prices like that in a fit of bad depression and desperation. It was unprofessional of me to allow my emotions to torture myself and others in such a way.
As for the other projects:
- One of my goal is to try and find some sort of a Software Dev/Engineer job soon. My last position was terminated due to cut backs and layoffs in QA. I know QA is mocked as "Not a real job" by a few software devs and engineers, but I was hoping it'd be a good foot in the door for me. (Ranty BS : It also doesn't help me emotionally when I read stuff on reddit from recruiters about how you need a project of "Something that hasn't been done or solved before" to get a junior/intern position. Kind of depresses me when I think back years ago when people talked about doing a simple FizzBuzz problem and reciting the the OOP principles or saying stuff about OOD would get you hired and now you need like a portfolio of projects that are really impressive. Even saw people talking about how building a react app nor a spring app isn't even good enough cause it needs to be something really new and out there. To show off your creativity and ability to think up interesting solutions. It also feels like they're laying people off and then also calling them 'mediocre' after taking away their livelihoods. A huge amount of the whole tech and engineering industry makes me sad.)
- I have been working on a LoZ fangame. Mostly just trying to recreate mechanics in the Game Maker engine and other things from the games as a means of studying them to make my own adventure game at some point. Unfortunately, I feel like my codebase is so bad and such a mess though. I fear if I set the git repo to public and shared I'd be hanged for a crimes against good coding practices that I was just not aware of. (I tried optimizing with the best ideas that came to mind at the time of making things.) That being said I think the best method for me to show this game off might be doing something I see Mark Kurko doing and that's just playing through a level in a spoiler way to show it off but also let people who may not play it get a look at it. And eventually after the dungeons are in a good alpha state, just release a demo/alpha build.
- I want to make my own indie games and comics some point soon but I fear not having enough money to afford the luxury of getting to play with my imagination and make things for myself and friends. Money is. . . Always a problem with me. I fear not having enough as well as my depression telling me I'm not enough to be worthy of it too. It's an uphill battle and the less I think about money the better I feel but it's always in the back of my head like an evil little worm eating my brain and making me feel bad. Like some of my ideas include :
/t> An adventure game similar to ALttP with 5 main story dungeons, and then 5 optional dungeons to get upgrades from and like 8 items to play with in exploring the world map.
/t> A small porno game where a lazy farmhand offers you pinups for doing their chores and after you do all of the chores you get a sex minigame. (Maybe I am over thinking but the defeat an enemy to have sex with them some porn games go for always rubs me wrong)
/t> A comic about two of my OC's in a bad situationship but also gay sex. Essentially slice of life porn mixed with drama.
/t> I think it would be fun to try and make a Quest 64 like RPG at some point in Godot or Unreal. Just reading the stories of that game's troubled development and rushed release makes me feel like something good could probably be made by exploring the gameplay mechanics and ideas more.
/t> With how prevalent AI is, streaming is a thing I have considered trying to re-ensure that I don't use it for anything but also kind of don't know. I have seen streaming create ego monsters out of people and I don't want that. Personally I fear having an ego, cause then you stop growing and improving. You just act like you got everything figured out and are unwilling to learn.
- On a personal project : I am trying to fix my dad's house for him. I know it's an uphill battle and I dislike living there but it's cheap and I'd rather see it in a better than this. The place feels somehow like a welcoming ghost house. Haunted but not evil. Just full of memories and pains and bad thoughts I don't want returning to me. I feel haunted but also comfortable in the suffering and fear? Like a known discomfort or pain that you've grown accustom to over time.
- I want to re-opening comms again soon. I still have one left from my depression out burst in November where I lowered my prices really low. But after that I feel more confident now and that I should charge a more reasonable price for my efforts and labor. So anticipate it starting more around 140 to 160 USD when I eventually do open.

Comms are now closed and the slots have been decided
Posted 11 months agoOkay. I have picked out the three slots for which comms I will be doing. Thank you all for your submissions. I will begin working on these immediately and reaching out to the selected people soon.
Taking on a few comms
Posted 12 months agoI checked my bank account and could use some extra cash, so I am opening up 3 comm slots for anyone interested. But it's also been a while since I have taken them on so I am gonna not charge too much just to try and ease back into the groove and see how well it goes on top of me drawing my own works and making games.

Comms, and Life update stuff
Posted a year ago- Commission stuff :
I want to open Comms soon and try to reasonably price them. I am thinking somewhere in the ball park of 125 to 150 USD for a "single stand alone character full body cut out || with no BG" and then lower prices for a few other things like "facial portraits" that can be used for PFP's and dialogue boxes in an RPG for like 50 USD. Maybe 5 or 10 USD extra and I'll make a custom thing for it too to go around the portrait. Oh and for 250 to 300 USD I will offer character ref sheets.
- Life stuff :
- Social Media BS :
I have quit social media for around 3 months now and mentally I feel a lot better for it. Twitter is a cancer and under Elon it is only growing worse by the day. I also had a realization that shit happens all the time on there and people hype it up as though the worst possible thing has happened all the time. Then 3 to 6 months later have completely forgotten about it and have found a new controversy or drama to get caught up in and I can't live my life hearing about that all the time anymore.
- Streaming more and complaining about AI
Also, when it comes to game development and art, I have been trying to stream more just to have proof and evidence I don't use AI and greatly dislike the use of AI in making images and writing code. It can not write good code, and every image looks plasticky or is definitely ripping off someone's established art style poorly.
- Game dev stuff
As far as game dev goes I am working on LoZ fangame made in the GM engine and have the Second dungeon 95% complete including the boss fight. The first dungeon is being reworked and I'll hopefully have it ready soon and then I can get started on roughing out the overworld maps : their chunks, tile sets and hidden puzzles and chests. I am hoping to have a demo ready by October. I see the work that needs doing and am trying so I do hope I reach the point I want it to be at by then.
Oh and expect some arts here soon.

More personal stuff and some ideas for the future
Posted a year agoSo after visiting family for 4th of July and thinking about work and how I can get income, on and off in the back of my mind, I've been trying to conclude on a direction to sit down and focus into; however, I have like a ton of interests and they all pull me in just as many directions. I kind of just want to go over them and talk about them in a way and with information I feel comfortable in sharing.
A few interests I have had for a while and feel would be fun to pursue are : Game development, Illustration, Streaming, YouTube and Programming.
Breaking things down a bit more
- Game Development :
- As far as game development goes I have a few ideas for one or two Fan Game ideas and even a few small indie game ideas I'd like to make. Of course I would want to start these with a GDD (Game Development Document) to try and get the main ideas across for : the main gameplay loop, an abstraction of objects' interaction with one another, story beats, objectives/quests, characters, level designs, shops, puzzles, etc.
- Fan Game 1 idea : A GBC LoZ game where I re-use the assets from the Oracle games and some of my art skills to remake the Great Plateau from BotW in a GBC style game with simple objectives and little to no plot. Basically collect 4 McGuffins from the Shiekah temples and slay a Big Bad in a final level, with emphasizing exploration of the overworld map to collect enough power ups to make accomplishing the tasks much easier.
- Fan Game 2 idea : A N64 Star Fox game where I just take the models and try creating my own courses for a bit of fun. No real story other than "evil empire be evil, go stop them", more focus on making good gameplay and easily replayable courses.
- Indie Game 1 idea : Ocelotte is a (Top down action-adventure)/(Top down Metroidvania ???) with 5 major LoZ ALttP style dungeons that tell the main story of the game linearly, however on the overworld you are free to explore and collect upgrades, do side quests or mini dungeons for upgrades to your gear in any order you want, so long as you got the needed items. The game will try to balance combat and puzzles in a way similar to what ALttP does but also taking some notes on combat from Dark Souls, Sekrio, various LoZ games and FF14 on the fights.
- Indie Game 2 Idea : Rey, a bunny girl who fights with a scythe and nature magic in a metroidvania similar to Hollow Knight, SotN, Super Metroid, MomoDora RUtM, etc. (You know the ones)
- Indie Game 3 Idea (This one is more of a recent idea and not as thought out) : Knave, an N64 inspired game where you play a thieving grey fox boi, whose primary weapon is a bow. The gameplay loop/idea being a 3rd person camera with a mix of LoZ:OoT/MM, Thief, and Sly Cooper ideas. You are stealing from Rich people in a big city that serves as the game's overworld you explore for upgrades. The Manors and palaces of the rich are OoT style dungeons with an emphasis on stealth. You would also find items to help you explore in the manors/palaces and get to newer areas in the city. As you rob the rich you learn about a royal secret that has been hidden from the public and if no one does anything it might lead to the destruction and death of the whole city and it's people.
- Illustrations :
- Recently I've been getting really into the TCG Lorcana and going to local card game shops and playing it as well as watching a few local tournaments in it (yet to play in a tournament). It does suffer from a lot of people following the meta like a religion and I think meta-following can cause at least with me, a loss of fun in exploration and being creative with the games' mechanics. That being said it's been making me want to try and get into illustrating and making my own game play mats, art for fan card ideas, carrying cases, etc.
- And of course illustrating cute furry bois and girls, I think that's a given. More so I want to branch out and not just have r34 in mind when people look at me or my work.
- Streaming :
- Streaming to me is a double edged sword when it comes to more productive things. On one hand it's fun to chat with people while drawing/coding but I can easily get caught up in a convo and it'll be more of a Just Chatting stream than a programming/drawing stream. So I might put doing things like that to the side, with some exceptions. I could try doing Leet_Code and Hacker_rank exercises on there for some fun or thumbnailing ideas for future illustrations or doodles.
- Some things I wouldn't mind streaming is video games I really enjoy, and indie games I think might need more attention. Of course that would make me a variety streamer where people are more showing up for me and my personality rather than the game I am playing.
- YouTubes :
- When it comes to YouTube there's a variety of things I'd like to make, but I do dislike how the algorithm emphasizes using your channel for one thing and on thing only like everyone is running a business on there. I remember once SoundSmith made a tutorial on sound equipment and the "algorithm" dropped showing his channel in subs and recommendations cause it wasn't another TF2 video. Which I know audiences want each channel to be just one thing and one thing only but it does fuck with me because I kind of want to do a mix of things.
- I'd like to make videos covering indie games I find could use more people talking about them, especially if they have a cute furry character in them.
- Devlogs would be a great and fun way to show people who are interested in my current game projects where they are in development and also some funny silly bugs and other mishaps.
- Timelapse drawing vids can be fun but I have seen people complain that they're bad for your channel's growth and you should solely focus on other videos cause those will "get the views"
- Opinion videos for my hot takes : "Quest 64 is a better game than base unmodded Skyrim", "Half-life 1 is better than HL2", "Metas ruin fun and creativity but I think Folding Ideas' 'It's rude to be bad WoW' explains this a little better", and so on.
- Programming :
- Aside from game development I'd like to work on other programing projects too.
- Twitch features to help make mine or someone else's channel a little more unique, Simple website to showcase my art and game dev skills as I develop them, maybe even a simple old school forum for people who prefer those to discord servers. Maybe even a few small game servers to test my own game ideas on.

Welp, a personal thing has happened.
Posted a year agoI don't want to go into the specifics for personal and private reasons but I just got layed off from a good paying engineering job and IDK what to do.
Part of me wants to try and get away from the worries of the job market but I can't ever truly escape it. Cause if I try doing art for money, I still rely on others to have money and jobs to afford commissions and YCH's; Another part of me wants to pursue some of my personal interests and actually try some game dev work; Another part wants to cry in the corner from the stress, but I know that won't solve anything; Another part wants to do streaming and YouTube focused on furry video games, but I'm nervous about how good I am at being a performer.
Either way I want to try and turn it into a positive for myself but it's really hard.

Commissions or YCHs
Posted a year agoSo I recently moved and setting my stuff up is taking me a while and I am planning on running more YCH auctions and offering commissions.
But yeah I just want to know if you prefer YCH auctions or Commissions.

A journal for me feels.
Posted a year agoJust personal things I feel safe sharing.
So a lot of the slow down from me atm is cause I'm in the process of moving and training for a new job that's NDA'd and can't talk about.
I keep wanting to try more directions with art like game dev and making OC's but I keep falling back on R34 and it makes me feel like I'm failing my own creativity and expression. That does make things a little confusing and conflicting. I don't dislike drawing r34 it's more of it's become a comfort zone I feel I need to break out of if I wanna make better art. That art including r34 pieces too. Which is a little confusing. A get better at something else to get better at another skill. Like how a lot of 2D artists will sometimes make 3D models cause it helps them gain an understanding of the fundamentals better.

New drawing tablet and commishes(closed)
Posted 5 years agoSo I bought a new drawing tablet with a screen, no longer using that tiny af Intuous 5S. Can actually move my arm around. Sadly I need money to for SAI 2 because SAI 1 is being a bitch and not wanting to work on the hardware, unless I unplug all the displays except the tablet. . . IDK why. None of the other art programs I have do this, just SAI.
Anyway to get SAI 2 and start working on getting back some of the money I spent on this tablet I'm gonna open up 2 commission slots at a discount:
- 60 USD per slot
- Full body and shading + highlight pinups.
- Can be NSFW or SFW.
- Have ref ready.
- Paypal only.
- Can be any gender.
- Contact me with a note.

Commissions OPEN!! (Again)
Posted 5 years agoI don't really know how to advertise my work very well, and I admit last time I did commissions it took forever, cause I was juggling 5 college courses at the time. . . But if you know a way that I can achieve larger sell numbers that'd be great. I'm currently going to do 3 slots, and offer them with brush set I've been using lately on my more recent pieces cause I just love how the brush looks a little more traditional on them.
Same prices as usual:
- Single char. + fully detailed = 80 USD
- Single char. + just pencils/inks = 40 USD
- Simple backgrounds are free, but if complicated I'll charge an additional 20 USD.
(I am going to try and practice multiple chars. and I'll have prices for that when I feel more comfortable with it.)

Going to be doing my last two Commishes soon and . . .
Posted 7 years agoSo I now have my last two commishes promised on my list and after that I plan on moving on to YCH's only for a few months to maybe a year. I feel this'll help me better understand my content's market value and it gives me a little more control on the piece. Nothing wrong with commishes it's just I don't feel as much passion behind doing other's ideas as much but if I have more influence into it that'll prolly help my draining motivation.

I am willing to draw simple backgrounds in these for free just cause I'm out of practice on that, but it's an optional feature.
Be advised: I will not draw CP, Scat, watersports, hyper, inflation or anything I just find to be a horrible turn off.

Continuing Assuary but could use some funding
Posted 7 years agoSo if any one would be interested in a commission message a note with the info.
I typically like to do single char. pin ups for $60 USD with all the works.
If you want a manga B/W-esque single char. I'll do that for $40 USD.
Also I might make a YCH with the Assuary theme soon so be on the look out for that if you want to try at one of those. I might make the price start at 30 and Auto buy at 60 as if it was a normal commission.

Something I think about on the notion of gift art.
Posted 8 years agoSo what are the rules on doing gift art? Cause I'm never sure exactly how to go about interacting with other people or worse artists who make work I like. I always feel like fan-art is a form of gift art for fellow fans of whatever but that's usually on a much larger scale. Following that up, is there a line in which making gift art feels less like your genuinely gifting someone and more just pandering to an artist for attention and with some vein hope of an audience as well? (I only wonder this because sometimes I see comments like "<artist> only got an audience because they kissed <bigger artist>'s ass with gift art and people started following them") It gives me a fear of drawing gift art because I've been told by some it's just a sleazy business tactic used by assholes in order to bring attention to their work, rather than being a genuine gift, but even if that was a portion of the intention with the art is that bad or is it just a neutral? I kind of feel they wouldn't have drawn it without a genuine interest in the person's art. I always wonder these things when it comes to idea of art trades and collabs that if it's as good thing or just an underhand business tactic to bring attention to one's own work. :|

Posted 8 years agoSo I've decided to start buying some art supplies, various software tools and drawing books for personal use. 2 Commissions slots are open
Posted 8 years agoSo I tried saying I'm just gonna leave commishes open but no one seems to be interested (as in I haven't got a single note for one and it's been 2 weeks), so I'm changing the format up to go by slots, cause I feel people will be more familiar to that system. So if you want to claim a slot feel free to message me your commission idea and references. I'll change the slot details as time goes on.

Just leaving commishes open.
Posted 8 years agoI'm going to handle them one at a time based on what was asked for in the note. Here's what I look for when receiving a commission:
-how many chars. I usually just do solos and pin ups but two or three is okay.
-have an idea or suggestion of what you want them doing
-provide references!! If you just ask me to draw your character "so and so" chances are idk who that is and I don't want to dig through a gallery to find the exact reference I need.
-don't ask for really odd/extreme fetishes. I understand being into different things but that don't mean I wanna see or draw them.
-have money ready to pay after sketch is agreed upon.
-I plan on doing these one at time so if you don't get a message wait a bit if it's been more than 2 weeks prolly not gonna happen, sorry.
Prices are 60 usd for a single char. Pin up (+40 for additional characters.)

Going Kamicon on Saturday
Posted 9 years agoJust a quick update that I plan on being at Kamicon this Saturday. If anyone else is going you can tell me, I'm only going to be up there the one day but I might be willing to hang out if I'm not already hanging out with a random group of friends or nerds already. I'm not a vendor nor panelist or anything just going for a bit of fun.
Knowing me, I'll probably be looking at cheesy merchandise and figurines. If I remember I might try updating about it on the twitters, but that's relying on me remembering.
