Cross Foxing
Posted 7 years agoFor those that stumble across this page, you will see that this was once quite an active community for cross foxes here on FA, though with one thing and another, unfortunately we couldn't keep it going as was originally envisioned.
Given the previous events leading to our long hiatus, it is probably best to take as given the suspension of such previous ideas as the members list! Many will have moved-on by now, either to new accounts or out of the fandom, and with the advent of Telegram group chats and other avenues, there are likely better places for meeting others. However, placing our group icon in your profile can continue a great way to foster a sense of community for those that wish to do so.
For now, though, this group will not be regularly updated. It is hoped that any visitors to the page will enjoy browsing our antics from the past!

Marching on.
Posted 11 years agoHello, everyone.
As you might have noticed, we've been a bit slower with faves and updates since a while.
Unfortunately, we have been kind of busy with events outside of FA.
You've surely heard of those pesky things like school, work, and families.
We're still here, and we're still trying to keep a paw on the pulse of things.
But, enough of the moping. ^.^
On topic that'll be much more relevant to your interests, Mehndi has posted a nearly finished panorama full of familiar vulpines.
You can find it right here: https://www.furaffinity.net/full/14485115/
What's your opinion about the backdrop change?
Foxtrot Nine out.

Further Group Picture WIP
Posted 11 years agoGreetings to all the crossies out there!
Contrary to appearances, we have been maintaining this group and keeping it active! The favorites gallery continues to expand with your wonderful artworks, and we recently made small adjustments to our group description.
Many of you may have already seen, but progress on the group picture has now been expedited. You can view Mehndi's Trello page here: https://trello.com/b/AsVuWTdk/mehndi-artwork. There is a tab with all the details of the picture on - go take a look! It is forming together very nicely now, and we hope to have the now long-term projected completed soon!
Stay crossy everyone, and thank you to all our new members, both foxes and others alike, who have joined us since our last update. As ever, if there is anything anyone would like to see from the group, please don't hesitate to let us know!

Cross Fox Group Picture [Update]
Posted 12 years agoOne year anniversary!
Posted 12 years agoGreetings to all our members!
Yes, this journal has been slightly late on the uptake, but I am happy to announce that our group recently passed our one year anniversary!
We'd like to thank you all, cross foxes and supporters, for helping to shape this group into what it has become today.
We're very proud to be a member-driven group and hope that you have all enjoyed participating and basking in the cross foxy-ness so far. Hopefully it has also allowed us all to meet new people and enjoy more art of what is undoubtedly the best colour-variant species out there!
Here's to another year of success for the group, and long may it continue!

Group Picture - Payment Made
Posted 12 years agoAs the title says - the full payment has now been made for the group picture! Unfortunately if you were still planning on contributing the artist's deadline has now passed... many apologies.
Things can really move along now; we can expect to see a preliminary sketch before the piece is completed, so we will post that here when it is received.

Group Picture: Interim Update
Posted 12 years agoMany of you may be wondering why you have not received notes yet detailing how to financially contribute to the group picture.
We are just waiting to finalize arrangements with Mehndix, and as soon as we do, we'll be sending the notes out.
Thank you for your patience.

Group Picture - Submit your references! [COMPLETE & CLOSED!]
Posted 12 years ago*** CLOSED ***
We are pleased to announce that
Mehndix was the winner of our vote for the group picture artist.
Now is the time to submit links to your references (leave them in a comment below) - ASAP please!
If you would like to contribute to the financial cost of this project, please also mention this in your comment. We will then note you individually on how to do this. As a guide, if all 17 cross foxes participate, the cost per character is $25 - though the amount you contribute is up to you, and any amount will help!
By submitting your reference you are agreeing to be in the picture (and, likewise, by not submitting your reference you agree not to be in the picture). You don't have to participate if you don't want to. Further, you do not have to financially contribute if you want to be in this picture.
As a reminder, only cross foxes are eligible to participate in this project!
This journal will close in 7 days exactly (20/6/13), and references not submitted by then will not be added! Please be prompt!
*** CLOSED ***
Vixens and gentlevulps, we have reached 100% participation!
I repeat, the signup status is 17 out of 17!
Thank you very much!

Group Picture - Artist Vote [CLOSED]
Posted 12 years agoTHIS PROCESS IS NOW CLOSED - IF YOU SEE THIS MESSAGE AND VOTE, YOUR VOTE WILL NOT BE COUNTED. WINNER TO BE ANNOUNCED SOON.
Exciting news everyone!
We have now gained responses from your suggested artists for the group picture – those that have accepted are listed below.
Bix707
Mehndix
Mysticsabreonic
Ramthedragon
shynjy
Slug
UrbanFox0612
Kuroseishin
We will now vote on who we want to create the picture.
The system to be used will be a proportional vote. Each member can choose a first, second and first preference. Your first preference gains 3 points, your second 2, and your first gains 1. You must make three choices – this enables us to get a clearer result. The person with the most number of points will be the person chosen to create the piece.
If there is a tie we will hold a second vote between those tied.
We will close the vote on Wednesday, 12th June (this date is fixed and will not be moved), or when all eligible voters (the cross foxes) have voted. Upon completion we will let you know of the successful outcome, and will ask you to provide links to a ref-sheet for your character.
The premise of the picture is as follows: a mountain scene, with the cross foxes taking a break from their hike, generally socialising, perhaps eating, and sitting on rocks. Start thinking about your poses, everyone!

Group Picture - Where we go from here.
Posted 12 years agoThank you to all of our cross foxes for your interest and input for our group picture idea; it's excellent to see so many of you involved!
We will now proceed and query all of the artists reccomended by you - it is likely many of them will be closed for commissions, or may not want to take on a piece of this size, but be assured we will explore every possibility! When we have completed the process (which may take some time), we will make the available artists known to you so we can then vote on which artist we would like to commission most for the piece.

Would you be interested in participating in a group picture?
Posted 12 years agoMany of you will remember that shortly before Christmas we posted a journal asking for your references in order to create a Christmas group picture. Unfortunately, due to health problems and eventual species change, the artist was unable to complete the project and has since left us.
Fortunately, we have not let the idea vanish, and have been considering commissioning another artist for a group picture. The theme will likely be a summer theme, as this is when we anticipate the piece being commissioned. The project would be open to all the cross foxes of the group.
However, unlike the last project, this one will require some expense on our part. Hence, we would like to know if anyone would be inclined to participate if it involved a financial contribution to the project? Until we find an artist and work details out with them, we cannot say for sure how much this would be per person, but we would be looking for a quality piece that would provide everyone with good value for money.
Furthermore, as we are unsure of which artists to go for, we would really appreciate it if you could recommend any to us. One of the group’s admins could then approach various artists to try and work out details; we could then leave it to a group vote to decide which artist to go for if more than one expresses an interest!
So, please let us know the following in the comments section below:
1) If you are interested in participating, whether or not it involves a financial contribution from yourself.
2) If you would be prepared to make a contribution yourself to the project – either to pay for your place in the piece, or in a ‘chip-in’ system.
3) Any artists you recommend.
Please respond as soon as you can so we can start to make enquiries; any comments left after 21st April (new, extended deadline) may not have their artist recommendation considered, so do please be as prompt as you can.

Spring is here!
Posted 12 years agoHello fellow crossies!
For those of you in the northern hemisphere, spring has finally arrived! Soon we shall be able to get re-acquainted with the leaves and flowers, and, for those of us in more northern areas, a bit of sunshine and warmth as well!
To recognise the new season we have now reverted to our original group icon.
We are continuing to keep a good grip on +faveing all the excellent cross fox artwork you are all producing - we now have quite a sizeable collection in our 'favorites' gallery - do check it out if you have not done so already!
Stay crossy everyone, and as always, if there is anything you want to see from this group, please do let us know.

Fox Web-pages (Cross fox and other fox web links journal)
Posted 13 years agoHello everyone!
vinfox has brought some cross fox blogs and galleries to our attention to promote in a journal. We have also decided to add some of our own findings! If anyone has any other sites they would like to highlight, let us know and we will add them to this list.
Alas, there's a car model named after our fur coat variation, and it's between hard and impossible to filter them all away from the search results on many sites.
Cross fox specific:
Blogs:

Assorted galleries:

Change in +watch policy
Posted 13 years agoHello everyfox!
To increase efficiency in managing the group, we will now only be watching cross foxes from this account.
The reason for this change is that the purpose of a watch from this group is to enable us to add cross fox art to our 'Favorites' gallery, and of course not everyone who is in this group produces cross fox art regularly; most crossy art tends to come from the galleries of cross foxes.
We will, however, be faving any cross fox art that isn't produced by our own members should we find it on FA.
We greatly appreciate the art that is posted on our other members' galleries of course, however we now feel that a watch from this account to a non cross-fox's gallery does not bring any tangible benefit with it. We appreciate your support and members will still be able to view your galleries through the member list links.

Would you be interested in a holiday themed group picture?
Posted 13 years agoGreetings, foxes!
Bells (
hezbellah) is curious about creating a holiday-themed group picture for us crossies, if you would be interested.
In her own words, "Probably just something cute and not too detailed, and more than likely feral" - sounds like a nice holiday post card to me. :)
If you're interested, please reply to this journal, and link a good reference of yourself so everything's organized in one place. I hope those of us that are usually anthro will be all right with being drawn feral-ized here.
Feel free to post questions and other comments too. And in any case - have fun!

Group update
Posted 13 years agoHello everyone!
Although the lack of journals recently may have left our group seemingly very quiet, we have still been 'faving' your cross fox art and have been receieving a steady influx of new members!
To that avail, we have decided to split the member list journal into two sections:
- Cross foxes
and
- Supporters
We felt that this would more clearly illustrate who is who within the group, and it may also make it clearer to those who want to join the group exactly what it is all about by letting them know that we are our own species (albeit colour variant) in our own right!
If anyone has been incorrectly placed, many apologies; please let us know and we will rectify it as soon as possible!
As always, please feel free to let the group admins know if there is anything you would like to see from this page that we are not doing already.

Can you describe the many aspects of a cross fox?
Posted 13 years agoHey guys!
Here's an interesting topic that I'm sure will see interesting and varied responses:
Describe the aspects of the cross fox as you see them. Colours, personality, temperament - or even what it means to you to be a cross fox! Don't be afraid to go further if you wish; abstract answers will also be interesting to see.
Let's see what we have to say about our crossy-ness!

Are we really that good at being unseen?
Posted 13 years agoGreetings, foxes!
Hello, everyfuzz else!
Things suddenly got quiet around here; I hope the reason for this is the beginning of new school semester, not people being afraid of the fox temporarily left in charge. :)
It's been a while since our last journal, so it's time to post a new, if a bit long, question to the mix:
Why do you think cross foxes are so unknown in popular culture and rarely seen in the fandom, despite being more common in the wild than well-known silver foxes are?
Please post your guesses and theories!
Of course, older topics are still fair game - just check our journals list for more! :)
Thanks for reading, and see you in the next episode!

A new icon, your experiences with foxes, and more!
Posted 13 years agoHello everyone!
First off, welcome to our new members who have joined in the past few weeks! It’s really nice to see more cross foxes emerging from the wood work. I hope you will enjoy our group and what it has to offer.
Let me please draw your attention to our new icon created for us by
Urbanfox0612; head on over to the gallery to see it in full size, and there is also a link to her user page there to fave the original should you wish to!
Please see the footer of this journal for the link to the introduction and members list journal – the list grew too large for the front page, and this new format enables us to say hello to our new members.
Now to draw your attention to our relevant discussion! As suggested by
vinfox: Have you ever had a real life encounter with a fox? What was it like? Have you ever seen a cross fox yourself?
Finally, I’d like to introduce you to
Tvorsk who is now the group’s co-owner. I myself head off to school shortly, and during that time I will not have sufficient access to FA to maintain this group (as I stay away from home with monitored internet access). Tvorsk will therefore be keeping things going for me so we can ensure we have as active and organised a group as possible!
That’s all for now – until next time! Don't forget to leave your comments on our relevant discussion!

Cross Fox Species Confusion
Posted 13 years agoToday's journal topic was suggested by
VinFox.
How may of us have been in a situation where you tell someone you are a cross fox, and they say something along the lines of: "Cool! Crossed with what?"?
I'm guessing this has happened to most of us, and it seems to be a common misconception that can be easily made in a fandom where hybrid creatures are so common!
Do you get annoyed or frustrated by this? Or do you relish the opportunity to introduce someone to a new (and rather epic!) species that they may not have encountered before? Perhaps you really aren't bothered at all?
Discuss!

Are you a cross fox, or a fan of them? You're welcome to join!
Please consider posting a comment with an introduction about yourself below, so we can get to know each other (and see our avatars).

Update and a Question!
Posted 13 years agoWell, it has certainly been a very successful 24 hours for this group - 10 members already! We have also been established as an FA group through the group database index, and I have sent an affiliation request to another group to help spread awareness.
Thanks to everyone who has joined so far! Please, if you haven't done so already, it would be great if you could add the group icon to your profile page to help others find us. All of our members are now on the profile page of the account for easy identification. The 'favorites' gallery is slowly filling up, and as has been said already, if you would like anything featured in our gallery please let me know.
Now that things are running smoothly, let me kick off with some species-specific discussion. A cliché, but I'm sure we will all be interested: What led you to choose a cross fox as your fursona species? Are there any behavioural aspects you particularly like about them, or was it more down to their appearance? Or something completely different?
