I'm glad to be done with this year. I had a bad roommate, a sketchy family situation, and money got tight, but it's all over with now. I'm ready for some relaxation with my mate and a good time at CF!

So far this summer I've gotten a new trombone, finally got around to getting steam games, got a mate, went to the beach a few times, went to my first con and PS, got into DND, visited the grave of a very influential musician to me, and finally went golfing with some old friends.

I have 5 days left until I have to get back on the road and head to Lawrence. I'm pretty much out of ideas soooooo...any suggestions?

My new trombone finally arrived today! I've been waiting for, oh...2 weeks? Some bull with UPS kept it from coming, but it all got resolved and is safely at my place. After digging through a whole bunch of packing peanuts, bubble wrap, and plastic packaging, I got to play it for the first time and works like a charm!
It's a Getzen 1047FR, part of getzen's Eterna series, and it has a rose brass bell, open wrap F attachment, and a very smooth yellow brass slide and valve trigger. It came with a 6 1/2 AL mouthpiece, but chances are I'm going to later on buy a better 5G mouthpiece, either gold or stainless steel because the silver plated mouthpieces aren't working well for me anymore.
I still need to sell my other two bones, one of which is still in Kansas. Hopefully I'll be able to get a little over half of what I payed for the Getzen from both instruments.
I've been playing this new horn for a good few hours! I'm a giddy wolfy now. :3

I'd have to say that my first furry convention was amazing! So much happened, and I loved every moment of it. I met a few great people, suited around a bit, got a commission or two...it's hard to think of everything that happened.

Now I'm looking forward to any furmeets that pop up while I'm around in SoCal. I'll finally be able to go to the PS after missing so many due to being out of state, and I'm hoping for some local barbeque meets.

Other than that, I have to get ready for a class that starts in a few hours...definitely the worst thing to go to after a con. XP

So I just noticed that I've had an FA account for exactly one year as of today, so it's my first FA birthday!...as if that really matters. It honestly feels like it hasn't been that long. :P

In other news, my actual birthday is on the 19th. I've got a trombone choir concert to perform in, then I was originally planning on suiting downtown, but I probably will move that to another day since it's not the most bustling of places on a Tuesday night. I don't have any plans since my parents aren't coming to celebrate, it's a school night, and I'm completely broke. xD Does anyone have any suggestions for what I should go do?

I won't ask for gifts, buuuuuuuuuuut.........seeing something from friends back home would make the night much better. :3

I just had a pretty interesting past hour and a half. I went to my sister's house to get some stuff that I left there, and I found her cat sitting in the grass, but I thought nothing of it since he's sort of an outdoor cat. That is until I heard a high-pitched squeal coming from his direction, at which point I went over to him, and found him holding down what looked to me like a mouse, but I couldn't really tell because it was so dark out. I threw him back in the house and went to go check up on the animal, and it was very slowly moving its paws, as if it were trying to walk but couldn't anymore, and it looked like its tail was bitten off. I thought at that point the cat had broken its back and was going to die...

I went back inside to tell everyone, and when we came back outside, we took a closer look and realized it was actually a newborn bunny. It's eyes haven't even opened yet. Luckily it only had a small laceration on its front leg. So, we took it inside, put it in a box with a blanket and kept it away from the pets. I went and got some ointment for the wound and found some ingridients for some sort of newborn rabbit food that we found online at Walmart.

As I pulled up to the house again, I saw the cat in almost the exact same place. He got another newborn bunny, but this time I was too late...:( It was completely missing its lower half and was twitching a bit...

Needless to say, I'm not too thrilled with the cat right now, but I can't really blame him since he was just following his natural instincts. However, I can blame whoever let hiim outside again. >.>

But I'm glad I at least saved one! No mother was found anywhere (not like she would have taken the newborn back after we all touched it anyway...), nor were there any more babies that I could see. Tomorrow I'll be taking him to a place nearby that specializes in nursing injured wild animals back to health and reintroducing them. Wish this little guy the best of luck!

Today was a huge turnaround in the weather here in Kansas. For the past few weeks it's been between the 30s and 50s, and suddenly today it spiked up to the 90s! I finally got some weather that I'm used to.

Then...it dropped to the 60s and a huge rain/hail storm showed up and ruined my afternoon plans. I was going to take a nice relaxing walk around campus, but that obviously couldn't happen. I also got a pretty good knock on the head from a piece of hail. Not as big as a golf ball like I've heard about but still significant enough to hurt me. D:

And to think I thought SoCal weather could be bipolar. This is just ridiculous. *twists tail to ring the water out*

Oh hell yes, Cross is finally done. I got to wear him for the first time as a partial just a few hours ago, and it was honestly one of the most amazing experiences ever. No one could tell, but I was actually getting a little emotional behind the mask. ^_^'

A million thanks go to  milo-kun for making the suit, and also to  jaijai for making the ref sheet and for the eyes, nose, and teeth. You two are the best ever. Ever.

College fucking rules.

You all hopefully know by now that I go to college in Kansas. The fact that I'm here is riding on the fact that I get in-state tuition because my dad lives here. I've been rekindling my relationship with my dad for about a year now, after having him not really having a part in my whole life as a result of a pretty bad drug addiction, as well as having an affair multiple times, both before I was bron and after. Things have been going pretty well so far since he's been a better person.

Things changed yesterday when I found out he was having an affair yet again, this time against my two sisters' mom. Now my world has been shattered again and I have no fucking clue what to do. I know a lot of people are ok with having open relationships, but when you've dedicated yourself to a closed relationship, as well as bringing it as far as a marriage, you don't fuck around. I don't have childhood memories of my father, and I tried to make up for that, but he's lost my respect. This is the last straw.

I was hesitant to say anything about it here, but I decided I need some outside help. I just don't know where to go from here...I may have grown up with no dad, but I finally got one for a few months, and now he's truly shown me that I don't mean jack shit to him.

The hardest part of ending is starting again...and I'm clueless as to where to go. If anyone has some helpful advice, I'd really appreciate it. I need some motivation to get on with my life, and I need to know what I can do to feel good again.

All of my classes got cancelled today due to a big ol' snow storm. I quite literally can't see out of the window of my 6th floor dorm room. If you've been following the news then you know what kind of storm I'm right in the middle of at the moment.

So all I have with me right now is a bag of chips, some nutrigrain bars, popcorn, and soda. I was able to trek to the dining commons next door earlier today, but that was back when I could see two feet in front of myself. :P So I'm hungry and bored right now. Feel free to hit me up on skype or something to save me from insanity!

Last semester I didn't really have time to explore the area aound here to find more furries. Either lots of things were going on or I was resting to recuperate from all of those things.

But a little while ago, I took the time to work on my pounced account and suddenly they're coming from left and right! I talked to a tigress from KC for nearly 5 hours a few days ago. It turns out we've got quite a bit in common. :3 I was also invited to a movie night to meet more of the locals. But, since earning money is just tad bit higher up on my list of priorities, I worked all day so I couldn't attend. Hopefully I'll be able to go in the future.

Maybe this semester I won't go into a lack-of-furries sadness like last semester. :P

I forgot to make this journal earlier. I was a little rushed out of the house...long story. XP

I'm on my way to Kansas again. I couldn't go to FC since the con days were too close to the day I left California (plus I had no money since I spent it all on my fursuit). Ah yes, it's good to be done. I've finished my finals (barely any of them, I was shocked), performed my jury, and I'm all packed up for my wonderous adventure through the southwest of the country back to California. I've successfully completed my first semester of my undergrad!

These past few months have been such a wild ride, but it was worth it. At first I was a little iffy about being a music ed major, but over the course of the semester, I'm positive that this is what I want to do. I also don't think I'd like to do it anywhere else other than KU. The teachers are great, the marching band is amazing, the people are wonderful, and the campus is absolutely gorgeous.

However, with all that said, I'm ready for a break! I'm definitely looking forward to seeing you all very soon. I'll also be going to the January PS (hopefully), so I hope to see some familiar faces. And finally, I'm also looking forward to getting my fursuit, courtesy of His Awesomeness Milo-kun! The day is finally coming!

I'll be arriving on Monday night, so until then, have a happy holiday season.

The end is finally within reach. I've got one more full week of classes, then a short week, and then finals week. After finals week, I'll be free as a bird and I'll head on back to California. I'm going to start driving on the morning of the 19th and I'll probably arrive late on the 20th. Oh man I can't wait to be back home!

Even though I'm not completely done yet, I can safely assume that I not only survived my first semester of college, but I completely dominated it. There's was nothing particularly hard and nothing really went wrong, although being an undergrad music major doesn't sound hard to begin with.
