Yup, I'm back in my little corner of Saugus, and I'm ready to see the city I've grown to know for almost my whole life. I hope I can see you all soon. =]

Fall Break
Posted 15 years agoIt's been a while, but I'm still alive. I haven't really had anything exciting to post recently, but now I have something! Fall Break at KU starts soon so I'll be able to come back to California for a few days. I'll land in the early morning on the 15th and leave at night on the 17th. It's a short break, but I'll be glad to see familiar faces any day. Let me know if you want to hang out and stuff. =]
The next time I'll be in California is not so clear at the moment. I'd like to come out for Thanksgiving but there's a football game that I have to attend the following weekend, so it looks like after this short Fall Break, the next time I'll be back is after finals in mid-December.
I can't wait to see you all again! I miss everyone from back home dearly.

Here's what I've been up to since I went to Kansas. College marching band is definitely one of the most fun things I've ever been a part of. :3
For those of you who are wondering, at the beginning of the video, that guy who is wandering around on the field was completely lost...he forgot where his set started until we already started. XP Oh well. Also, if you want to find me, I start the show on the left side between the 35 and 40 yard lines, and I'm the third person from the front.
I'm quite pleased with our very first performance. <3

Money=Fursuit
Posted 15 years agoToday I worked for my dad's appraisal company. I pretty much helped him photograph wrecked and beaten-up cars so that he can make estimates on their cost to fix for the cars' respective insurance companies and banks. I took pictures of about 30 cars, with around 30 pictures per car, so 900 individual pictures were taken (not including messed-up shots). Today was a pretty good day for him financially, so we're all happy.
Now, where is this going? Here's where it gets interesting: My dad knows I REALLY want to save up money for a fursuit. The only problem is that I'm a college student, and buying food, buying books, buying laundry service, and buying gasoline can be hard. The solution: I work for him on weekends and I get payed somewhere around 10% of what he earns on weekends. That means I will have enough money to pay Milo-kun to make a suit for me hopefully by next summer! =D
Taking 11 classes in the music ed field, plus spending time with family and most likely being at football games on Saturdays with the KU band makes it almost impossible for me to have enough time for a real job, so this is really my only shot at getting some money at the moment. Although I don't do it often, this "job" is well worth it. =] Commence fursuit-obtaining sequence, now.

Coolest streets ever

Dorm!
Posted 15 years agoFor those of you who are friends with me on facebook, I made a short video of my dorm. It's just a little update on my living-status at the moment, and it's a taunt to my friend Sarah who made a 4 part video of her lavish and spatious apartment-like dorm. If you want to see the video but you're not a friend on facebook...go ahead and try the link, but I don't know if it'll let you see it or not.

University Adventures
Posted 15 years agoTonight is my final night before I begin classes here at KU. I've missed my friends, family, and home for a while now, but things are starting to become normal around here. Soon enough I'll be out and about living the college life. :D
I had an interseting and...stupid...experience earlier today. I decided it would be a good idea to explore the campus a bit more, so I went to one building in particular that I had heard has a courtyard in the middle of it. I found this courtyard, surrounded on all four sides by this building. The doors let me into the courtyard, but they unfortunately did not let me back in. -_- I was stuck in that courtyard until I saw someone walking through the halls inside and I could be let back in.
It was nice that I didn't have to call campus security on the night before I started classes.

A Heartfelt Farewell
Posted 15 years agoAs some of you may know, I'm going to be moving from this little corner of California to go to college half way across the country in Kansas. This is my last weekend in the state that I was born and raised in, and a new chapter of my life is starting soon. I leave in the early morning hours of Tuesday.
Before I leave, I wanted to send a special message to the furries I've met over the past few months. I've been part of this fandom for about 2 years, but I never really got to know any others for a very long time. That all changed back in April when I finally got to meet other furries, and I was really able to express myself much more easily. As a result, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to everyone I've met. Whether I met you months, weeks, or a few days ago, you have all had a very positive influence on my life. I couldn't be happier to know such friendly and great people like you.
It tears me apart that I have to leave those whom I met only a short time ago. I wish we could have more time to get to know each other, but I have to pursue my dreams elsewhere. Although I'm saying goodbye for now, believe me, none of you have seen the last of Cross. I'll be back whenever I have any extended breaks from my classes, so I'll be sure to hang out around you all again. You have my word on that.
I love you all for being such great people, even though our time together was very short. Goodbye for now.

Assistance por favor
Posted 15 years agoAs some of you may know, I uploaded a story recently. However, the file is a bit messed up and one can only view the story by downloading the full thing to a computer. So, does anyone know how to change a .docx file to a .doc file? I believe that will help a bunch. Thanks for your time, everyone.
Well then...
Posted 15 years ago...this sucks.
I just wasted three and a half hours making a photograph that involved my wolf plush and my puzzle collection, only to find out that posting a collection of personal items is not allowed on this site. You know, I'm ok with following rules and everything, and I admit it would have been good to know this policy beforehand, but to know that I spent a long time working on this only for it to be thrown away gives me a bad feeling in my stomach. *sigh* Well, there goes one idea that was semi-creative, and now it's back to the drawing board.
Expect a story from me sometime before the second week of August.

What to do at Disneyland
Posted 15 years agoWhat do you do at the very beginning of a drop on a roller coaster at the happiest place on Earth? Scream "CRUSTY FURSUIT" as loud as possible and see how many people turn to look at you in utter confusion, and occasionally someone knows what's happening and gives a thumbs up or a wink. That was my experience with :rakkentekicoyote: today. Good times, good times.
Haircut Furriness?
Posted 15 years agoI had a pretty interesting experience while getting a haircut today. Those of you who have seen me before know that I've had long hair for quite a while. I decided to finally change that after about 5 years of having long hair.
Everything started out normally until the lady cutting my hair started talking about how my hair made me "look so furry." I only chuckled and agreed with her, since I didn't really feel like explaining the whole fandom to her right then and there.
As all the hair came down she made another comment about how "you could make a wolf out of all this hair." Seriously? I was starting to think this woman was a furry too, but I still kept my mouth shut about the topic.
Then when the side of my neck was visible, you could clearly see a red mark where my collar has been rubbing on my skin. The last thing she said to me as I left a few minutes later was "It almost looks like you've had leather on your neck, like if you were wearing a collar or something." I'm now convinced that that lady is a furry and was just toying with my mind. :P
Best hair cut of my life :3

Just a little something
Posted 15 years agoSince I have absolutely nothing productive to do for the moment, I'd like to share a story with everyone. Now sit down and shut up.
While I was on my merry way to D.C. (I believe I was in West Virginia at the time), my sisters decided to do some drawings. Since they couldn't think of anything, I told them to try to draw something furry-like, since they haven't really done that too much. As a result, my younger sister decided to draw a regular ol' cat. However, she got a crazy idea, and started to change this cat in a very odd way.
She erased the legs and drew the legs of a prostitute. Yup, fish net leggings and high heels and everything like that. So this cat with hooker legs was dubbed "Paul Roobarb." Also, with her learning of my involvement in the fandom, she decided to add a little background story for Paul Roobarb and his relation with Cross.
Paul Roobarb is a sad creature who lives in a box with his parents (a father who looks like a mix of Eminem and the cheetos cat and a mother who looks like Zelda on drugs). This box is conviniently placed outside of Cross's home. Whenever Cross leaves his house, Paul Roobarb suddenly becomes extremely happy and likes to stalk Cross. This obviously creeps out Cross. Paul Roobarb often hides in various places within Cross's house and has murdered some of Cross's girlfriends, although the police can never find Paul Roobarb and have started ignoring calls from Cross's house.
Hearing this come from my sister's imagination was absolutely priceless. I mean, what else will entertain us on a two day drive to D.C.?
Thanks for letting me waste your time, everyone. Let me know what you think about my sister's creation.

Here he comes
Posted 15 years agoI'm back home from my second and final trip for the summer. Aren't all y'all so happy now? :3
Orientation at KU went smoothly, but I was shocked at the number of 1-credit I have to take for my major, so I'll be taking a grand total of 11 classes. Holy shit...my life at a university will either tank or be a blast.
Afterwards I went on a trip to D.C. with my dad, his wife, and my brother and sisters. Some of them got a big taste of my furry-ness since I wore my collar for almost the whole trip. They're the only family that I'm willing to wear that around, because I know they won't try to stick me into an asylum. =]
Speaking of which I played around with my fursona's middle and last name during the trip, just for the hell of it. You'll see it on my profile page.
Well since I've been up for the past 24 or more hours, it's time for me to go lie in a comatose state for who knows how long. Until next time.

Leaving again
Posted 15 years agoI'm going on another trip, but this time it's not so much for leisure. I'll be going to Kansas to do their new student orientation and to visit my dad and siblings who live just a few miles from the university. I'm probably going to be back in SoCal by the first of July, but I'll try to check back on facebook and FA when I get a chance.
I was planning on finishing up a story that I was going to post here, but packing for this trip plus neverending arguements with my mom have pushed that back to when I get back from Kansas. XP Sounds ridiculous, I know...but it's my life nonetheless.
So I'm here for the rest of today in case anyone wants to talk and whatnot. After that, hasta luego. =]

Furry?
Posted 15 years agoYou bet I am, and now this fact has been enhanced by the fact that I have a collar now. I bought two collars and Rakkenteki Coyote bought two tags, and we love them. My name's engraved on it. :3 Oh happy days. It was even more fun when we put on the collars in front of a non-fur. Awkward looks galore, but who cares? I'm so happy right now. =]
I'm Home
Posted 15 years agoAnd I'm so relieved to be back. I've been in Alaska for the best 12 days and it was fantastic. I felt so much peace there; the wildlife and overall atmosphere was really tranquil. But nevertheless, I'm back in good old Sothern California, and I can already say I never missed the traffic one bit. The 405 northbound was shut down right until we got there, and everyone decided to go on it at the same time! :D
Anyway, one of my goals when I went to Alaska was to see at least one wolf. In Denali national park, out of the 59 wolves in 6.2 million acres, I saw one for half a second. Not too much time to take in the moment, but it was worth it. I saw it while I was on a bus and it ran across the road really quickly. Everyone was arguing about whether it was a wolf or a lynx, but it looked too tall for a lynx in my opinion. Other than seeing that wolf, I think I bought about 10 lbs. worth in wolf-related memorabilia and such. I was quite the happy camper when it came to that stuff. =]
And then I got home...and found out that Paul Gray, the bassist of one of my favorite bands, Slipknot, died two days before I graduated (four days before I left for Alaska) and I never knew about it...and now I'm feeling quite depressed. I may have never met him but I've seen what an awesome guy he was, and I will definitely miss him.

Fursona Meme thingy
Posted 15 years agoSo I'm still in Alaska and I was just browsing FA for the first time in days, and I just came across a meme that Xale put up in his journal. So, since I'm vacationed-out, I'm doing it.
1 – Do you and your "fursona" look alike?
We do look alike. We have glasses, the same weird eye pattern (weaving mix of green and hazel, which a friend of mine dubbed "dragon eyes"), hair style, etc. The only real differences are that Cross has "markings" on parts of his body, whereas I myself am not fond of tattoos at all.
2 – Do you and your "fursona" share attires?
Cross likes to wear gothic-style trench coats every now and then, but other than that, we share the same attires.
3 – Do you share the same sexuality as your fursona?
Yup. Straight but necessarily looking for love.
4 – If you hadn’t already made your fursona look like you, if you would to change how he/she looked like to make him/her look more like you, how would you think he/she would look like?
Hmm...I /kinda/ understand what this is talking about...I'll give it my best shot though. Cross and I are the same (pretty much), so it is either impossible or really hard to make him any more like me.
5 – Did you work hard to develop your fursona? What is the (brief) history of your fursona?
I didn't work too terribly hard. It took a while for me to think of some specific details, but it wasn't necessarily hard to do. Let's see...history...Cross is Mexican like me (viva, bitches) and...ok, screw the background story, it's too much for me to think about right now.
6 – Do you and your fursona share relationship status?
Yes, single and ok with it.
7 – Do you find yourself jealous or upset if you get paired with someone you don’t like or your partner does?
Well since I'm not with anyone...this doesn't really apply.
8 – How would you like your character not to be used?
Nothing sexual, or doing something that I would find morally wrong. Trust me, I find a lot of thing morally wrong.
9 – What’s your fursona’s specialty?
He's a good musician (particularly in orchestral and jazz music), and knows how to solve Rubik's cube type puzzles. In fact he spends quite a bit of his alone time solving puzzles over and over again...ya, we're working on getting him out into the real world more often.
10 – At a score of 1-10 how much are you and your fursona alike?
I'd say the minor differences don't count for much, so I'll give our similarity a Diez of Ten.
So that finishes the meme. Hooray. *mariachi music* I'll be back from Alaska on the 9th, so if you want to say hi, please do. I miss all my friends badly. =[

All that jazz
Posted 15 years agoHey there miscellaneous furs, I'd like to make a little advertisement. Who here likes jazz music? If you said yes, you might be interested in watching a jazz performance (I hope). If there are any local SCV furs interested, I'll be performing in a local school district-wide honor jazz band, and everyone who's performing would really appreciate some support from the community. Sorry it's not exactly related to the fandom in any way...but, I'm sure everyone here enjoys music nonetheless.
Also, if any of you out there have any music performances/theater productions/art galleries in which your skills are demonstrated, I'll be more than happy to come and see!
Send a message my way if you're interested, and I'll give you the rest of the details (time, place, etc.).
...also, I'm playing lead trombone. There aren't many cooler things out there than that. :3
