So, I'm hospitalized and my dad's gone...
Posted 5 years agoThe year only began and it's already kicking my shit.
Doctors say it's nothing too serious, they wanna keep me for observation since they're concerned by how quickly it developed.
Wish me luck!!
UPDATE:
On this day, at 17:25, my dad passed away after months of torture from the lung cancer. He's finally at peace...

Beginning of the end
Posted 5 years agoAfter spending last week in hospital, my dad's being released home, and the whole thing is drawing to it's conclusion.
Stage 4 lung cancer, their prognosis is that he has mere few days to live, and there's nothing more they can do for him.
We'll do what we can for him until the time comes.

Dad's back home
Posted 5 years agoSo far he's weak, but holding up. The inhaler we have at home seems to help a bit, and he just had some soup for dinner.
While it's clear he doesn't have much time left, he himself says he'd rather pass on among loved ones instead of dying in hospital room full of strangers that refuse to do their fucking job.
We'll do what we can to make him comfortable.

My dad's situation is getting worse...
Posted 5 years ago...so, some of you may recall that journal from 2 years ago where I mentioned my dad was diagnosed with pulmonary emphysema.
Turns out, shit was far worse than we thought. Earlier this year, they discovered some benign tumors in his chest area and quickly began with the treatment. While it was mostly successful, there was one particularly risky tumor that was too close to the heart to be treated, so they left it be.
Fast forward to a month ago, and this tumor came back with a vengeance, spreading all over his lungs and throat, which is why his medications were becoming less and less effective. For past few weeks he was bedridden, and as time went on it was harder and harder for him to breathe and speak coherently. Last night however, was the worst. We had no choice but to call ER, and he was quickly taken to the hospital where he was hooked up to a respirator. It's obvious to all of us that he doesn't have much time left, and I'm trying to prepare myself for the inevitable. I don't know nor do I want to guess just how much time he has left.
I will keep you all posted on his situation.

Hollow Knight impressions
Posted 5 years agoAlright, since I only recently got my hands on Hollow Knight and finished it few days ago, I need to ramble on a bit about the game. I will try to keep it as spoiler free as possible but some details miiight slip in so if you still haven't played the game, be mindful of it!!
----
Alright, so, where to begin? It's hard for me to find proper words to describe this unique experience of a game. To say I absolutely love it would be an understatement because it quickly grabbed number one spot on my "favorite games" list. That's right, something managed to overthrow Super Metroid and Axiom Verge!! And it has earned that top spot for very good reason.
Major companies keep touting how high resolution, realistic graphics are the future of gaming and what everyone should follow, but this game completely shits all over that mindset with it's mind-blowingly gorgeous visuals. Everything, from character sprites to background elements is hand-drawn and beautifully animated, and at times I'd find myself just stopping and observing my surroundings in awe. If I had to pick favorite areas in terms of aesthetic, it would be:
-City of Tears: a hauntingly beautiful city that seems to derive it's design from baroque architecture (which is also present in varying amounts in other areas)
-Greenpath and Queen's Garden: lush, verdant areas overgrown with vegetation which gives them a very cozy, comfortable atmosphere.
-Crystal Peak: given my gemstone collection hobby, it's obvious why :P
-White Palace: platforming hell aside, the area's heavenly appearance combined with the beautiful, serene music really adds to the majesty of that place.
Character designs are quite interesting and cute; something that actually helps with establishing how serious things are story-wise at some points. If I had to pick favorite characters in terms of appearance and personality, it would be Elderbug, Last Stag, White Lady and Dung Defender (who's a big bundle of fun, goddamn)
Christopher Larkin absolutely fucking *nailed it* (get it???) with the spectacular, atmospheric soundtrack that further helps set up the mood of the game. It would be hard for me to pick ONE favorite track because each one is mind-blowing on their own.
As for gameplay, it presents the right kind of challenge that, while it *can* be incredibly frustrating at times, is still fair and makes you stay on your toes in the heat of battle; going dick-first into boss fights will only get you killed, so you need to strategize and adapt since each boss has a pattern that might be a bit difficult to master but once you get the hang of it, it's much easier to deal with them. As for White Palace.....*pleasegodhelpme*
And don't get me started on how well the game's lore and story are executed. Instead of basically dropping everything on your lap in huge expositions, the game instead peppers the details in via occasional log within the game or even with visual cues, and the player is left to piece everything together on their own. The way it pulls off the "show, don't tell" mechanic shows massive respect for the player and adds to the sense of exploration of this massive world. The tragedy of Hallownest and how it all fell apart is all up to you to discover on your own, and players have been making many different, but each well-sounding theories regarding the events and characters.
All in all, a game that is well-deserving all of it's praise and acclaim, and something that you can't just play once and drop. The story, the characters, the magic of Hallownest just keeps calling you back...
10/10, I am eagerly awaiting the sequel, Silksong...now excuse me gottamakeaHollowKnightcharacter~

About "morality" and drawings....
Posted 7 years agoSo, it was brought to my attention recently that a certain popular artist received plenty of flak on social media for making an animation of a teenage character caught by robotic tentacles, with swathes of artists and watchers alike dogpiling on them and calling them a pedophile just because said character was trying to wriggle out of the hold. With some even arguing "okay technically it's not illegal or sexual but IT HURTS MY FEELINGS THEREFORE IT'S WRONG!!"
Which has been my major pet peeve regarding the issue of loli/cub artwork, along with other more....controversial themes found in artwork. Where people use their emotional outbursts as an excuse to act like moral crusaders and police what kind of content other people should produce or view online.
Let me clarify, however, that ACTUAL child porn and bestiality porn has always been the things I spoke out against, as it involves actual children and animals being harmed in order to produce content for sick, abusive motherfuckers to get off to. So, some of you might ask "then why are you so defensive of drawn content?" Because no actual, living beings are harmed by this kind of stuff, and not -everyone- who likes, say, drawn loli/cub art is attracted to actual children in real life. That would be like saying ALL furries are secretly zoophiles who want to fuck animals IRL because they love to fap to drawn animal people, or in some cases, feral animal art.
My modus operandi has always been: "you draw/like loli/cub/feral art but aren't drawn to practicing that stuff IRL? OK, you do you, no harm done. BUT: if you watch actual child porn/zoo porn, or use said real child porn/zoo porn as reference material for your art? Get the fuck out of my sight, you deserve to be condemned."
All the people acting like some huge moral crusaders tend to fall into either of these categories:
-well intentioned, but misguided people, who either experienced personal trauma triggered by the content they find offensive as a result, or are overly emotional and act before thinking about consequences of their actions.
-assholes who use "morality" as excuse to just go around and harass others while pretending to be morally superior to them.
-actual offenders who try to divert attention to other people in order to hide the skeletons in their own closets (like the recent incident involving a certain popufur who shall not be named).
My final opinion on the matter: If you don't like it, don't look at it. If there IS, however, a valid, solid evidence that some artist is heavily interested into sexually abusing actual children or animals? Then, instead of acting like a moral crusader on Twitter, do the right thing, and contact authorities.
And to those of you hypocrites who condemn others for trivial shit while you yourselves have committed actual, heinous shit? Mind the skeletons in your closet, you never know when they might jump out and shout "I'VE GOT A BONE TO PICK WITH YOU!"

I regret that we never got to talk much as of late due to my busy schedule, and now it seems I will never be able to make up for it. She did not deserve this. My thoughts and prayers go to her family.
My little sister, wherever you are...I hope it's a far better place than this goddamn dirtball. Rest in peace.

You can also find me on Newgrounds!!+Tumblr: final thoughts
Posted 7 years agoSince Tumblr decided to shit into everyone's breakfast, I will be moving to FA and Newgrounds.
As you're....already on my FA (no duh!), you can also find my NG account here: https://cr0nicallyinsane.newgrounds.com/
As you all know, as of yesterday the Internet has been shaken up *thoroughly* when Tumblr announced they will be banning all adult/NSFW content, effective December 17th. Many people say this is in direct response to Apple removing Tumblr app from their store due to a rampant issue concerning porn bot accounts which were spreading child pornography. While it -is- a major factor in this "scorched Earth" scenario that Tumblr staff is pulling, it isn't the main reason. Tumblr (or should we say, Yahoo, as they own it) has been planning this for a long time now.
How so, you might ask?
Some of you might remember when, upon Yahoo purchasing Tumblr in 2013., Yahoo CEO bragged how they will be "purging Tumblr of all "undesirable content" in order to make the site more marketable and accessible to wider userbase". Which, naturally, triggered a gigantic wave of outrage from NSFW content creators and consumers. This decision forced Yahoo/Tumblr to back down, and instead of a full-on ban, they began implementing more and more frustrating features that made it difficult for NSFW artists to use the site; they had to constantly be up to speed with all the shit Tumblr staff was pulling and accordingly adapt their account, or risk losing it. What also didn't help was Tumblr staff's (most likely purposeful) lack of cooperation and communication with NSFW artists who did end up losing their accounts.
Fast forward to November of 2018. and the shitshow with Apple store occurs. Due to Tumblr staff's negligence, the porn bot issue becomes so overwhelming that Apple (notoriously anti-porn) decided to remove the app from their store. While it's partly reason why Tumblr went on a much wider purge, it also gave them the big opening they were so desperately looking for:
Now they have an excuse to pull off an all-out ban on adult content.
And of course, without consideration for the consequences, they grabbed onto the opportunity and used it to it's full extent. Now we're witnessing the fallout.
What will happen to Tumblr at this point? Some say it will still keep going because "people were angry before and protested and the site was still up". Which is true, but the shit Tumblr pulled back then pales in comparison to this latest stunt, which has effectively booted a significant portion of Tumblr's userbase. At this point, all we can do is sit back and watch the events unfold.
And some final words: #fuckTumblr.

Fuck this life.
Posted 7 years agoGotta love how just when you think things are calming down, life finds a giant fucking curveball to throw right in your face.
For past few months, my dad's been having some respiratory issues, and his stubborn ass refused to listen to our advices to go see the doctor, until the situation got progressively worse. So, just recently he got the results and while it's not lung cancer, it's something just as bad.
He was diagnosed with pulmonary emphysema.
According to what I read about it, there is no medication that can remove it permanently, only soothe the symptoms; the only permanent solution is to surgically remove the damaged lung tissue (only doable in early stages). The problem?
My dad's got some serious problems with his heart (he had a pacemaker installed last year), and he would not survive the surgery.
With proper medications, we can expect him to live for another 5 years *at best*. And knowing our luck and how some of our past family members wound up when they were diagnosed with some terminal disease....I am unsure what to do or say anymore.
I guess I can just, make peace with the fact and be prepared for the worst?

Question: should I post NSFW content here?
Posted 7 years agoThis is a question that has been eating away at me for quite some time, so I would like to hear the opinion of you, my friends and followers.
After that infamous database wipe, FA has reset everyone's passwords, and as such, I lost access to my NSFW account
siplelpis since I -also- lost access to the email account that was tied to it. With it now effectively dead, I was pondering if I should start posting more risque NSFW content on this account. I am pretty sure some of the people following me wouldn't exactly be comfortable with such stuff, although fortunately FA has a neat built-in filter option for such an occasion, right up there in top right corner of the page.
Most of the stuff I do is pretty vanilla, so you won't have to worry about more.....ahem, crazier stuff like hyper genitals, scat, watersports etc.
So....any thoughts? Yay or nay?

In other news; PC arrival (sort of) and Samus Returns
Posted 7 years agoSo, after months of delay after delay, one after another, my dad finally brought the PC over....sort of.
I spoke to him on the phone multiple times over the course of few days, as he wanted to make sure everything is accounted for. So on the D Day he brings...
...only the PC tower and keyboard, while leaving monitor and mouse at home. When I asked him why, his response was: "you said only to bring the PC, nothing else!"
Me and my mom did a collective facepalm at that statement. Since he is going back to Croatia for some checkups later this month, he will be bringing the monitor and mouse with him when he comes back here, in the meantime I will look up for a new power supply with my cousin, and install it at his place hopefully. He said we can use his monitor to make sure everything is okay once we hook up the PSU.
In other news, I may be 5 months late, but thanks to a friend of mine I was able to get my hands on Metroid: Samus Returns, an official remake of the Metroid 2 game for GameBoy. So here is a short review!
Much like how Zero Mission was a remake -and- expansion of original NES Metroid, Samus Returns is pretty much the same deal for the GameBoy sequel, and (unsurprisingly) is superior to the original in every possible way. While the game uses 3D models and areas, the view is strictly 2D (with some minor forays into 2.5D from time to time). The controls are incredibly smooth and responsive, as you guide Samus throughout hostile terrain with zero delay, any wrong step, jump or misfire is entirely your fault. Compared to the original, there are fewer wildlife enemy variations, but instead of just idly prancing about, they are much more aggressive, and will attack on sight; threat that can be most easily dealt with thanks to Counter ability. Many people seem to complain how the game makes you rely on it too much, but I personally feel like it's merely optional, easier path to take, as enemies can still be dealt with the old-fashioned way-dodge and shoot, which may take some time and reflexes to learn how to implement in best possible way and gut those sons of bitches before they even reach you.
Although I will admit, the one part where Counter is incredibly vital in order to succeed is dealing with the game's main antagonists: the Metroids themselves. While it is possible to just mash the fire button and kill them with plenty of missiles, Metroids now have much trickier attack patterns, and the best way to deal with them is to use Counter. Otherwise, you'll be left with plenty of wasted missiles, lost health, and a -lot- of frustration before the Metroid is down for the count. And don't get me started on Zetas and Omegas...
While Sakamoto left a lot of bad taste in people's mouths with Other M and it's seeming disregard for Prime series as part of continuity, he seems to have decided to make amends for it, as one particular part of the game effectively clarifies Prime's status as part of official canon.
All in all, despite some minor issues, this game is a welcome breath of fresh air that was needed to revitalize Metroid franchise, and I hope we get to see more of good Metroid games like this one. 5 stars out of 5!!
(Which brings me to something funny I saw the other day; someone on Metacritic gave Samus Returns a bad score only because Nintendo shut down AM2R. Do you want some cheese with that whine, buddy?)

Ditching Skype.....finally?
Posted 7 years agoSo, I guess everyone has that "tolerance threshold" when it comes to certain stuff, and Skype royally pissed all over mine finally. After days of having non-stop connectivity issues, it later switched to not showing anyone on my list at all, and today it flat out refuses to connect. I just said "enough" and deleted the app.
I will be making a full move to Discord, as pretty much everyone I spoke to on Skype has moved there.

Oops, status update
Posted 7 years agoSo, I got so preoccupied that I forgot to make one of these!!
So, long story short, I've been back at work since 18th, as my toe recovered enough that I can walk normally again. Got myself some proper shoes this time around so it doesn't happen again.
As for PC and Internet, unfortunately I had to delay it again until my dad arrives around February 1st or 2nd. This poor laptop really can't handle any proper arting, even had it shut down on it's own at one point while I was testing how far I can go. Sooooon....

Posted 8 years ago....all I can say to this monumentally shitty year, is this:
-cough- .......Lick m' sack, you fairy. -drops mic-
Seriously, excluding last two months, this year has been nothing but a gigantic shitshow. Here is to hoping 2018. at least tones it down a notch.
