UPDATE: July 18th 2013
Posted 12 years agoTrying out a new style of journal, gunna have 'Updates' which are pretty much just me talking about changes in my art life, or just life in general that I think you might find interesting. This mostly deals with how I hate making titles.
There will also be 'Rambles' which are just me kind of spilling my mind. I will likely add more categories but not now.

ANY HOW.
I have been in a massive art slump as of late.
I've barely been in the mood to draw, but I want to draw.
When I do manage to draw it's either ponies or Yogscast, or sometimes both...
I just don't know what to do with myself really.
On a bit of a brighter note, my Birthday is tomorrow. Hurrah. Not really that excited to be perfectly honest.
I bought myself a bunch of stuff, but it was more... void filling things. (And Steam Summer Sale)
Got eight new games, a cute creeper vinyl figure and I'm probably going to order some Yogscast shirts.
In order to celebrate I'm going to play Dead Space for the first time. Or at least that's the current plan.

Posted 13 years agoI just wanted to say, Merry Christmas every one! I hope your days have been better than mine.
Unfortunatly my Opa passed away at 11am today, because of that my Mother is no longer doing a turkey dinner as he was her Father.
It has been a rather sad day.
However my family has been there for each other, and Anza has been here for me.
The gifts have been a wonderful distraction, and petting the cats has been a nice break.
I probably wont be doing much person art (or should I say uploading of it) until after New Years. Haven't been in the drawing mood really, and I'm going to be rather busy before then.
Anyways, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Have a great New Years, and all that!

Posted 13 years agoSorry guys, another bit of a rant.
I'm still sick, and I'm pretty sure by this point it's a combination of our crappy living conditions (the air vents are constantly disgusting and since they are connected to other apartments I'm pretty sure a simple cleaning wont make it go away) and the overall stress of school.
At this point, I'm not quite sure that I'm ready for college, or ever was. And even if I was, if I chose the right courses.
I wont whine about that too much, but pretty much I am considering taking a year off from school to get my life in order, and get some money.
On a much brighter (or maybe not so much) note, our kitten is doing very well! He has become quite the dominate man in the house, beating up Billy (kitten is 11 weeks, billy is 4 years). But he is also destructive. He knocked over one of our cacti, thankfully it wasn't one of the spiny ones.
He's an adorable pest, but he seems to be keeping billy company, when they aren't hitting each other in the face.
And my last little blurb, sorry I haven't been posting much!
Life has been trying, and between sick, sleep and commission, I haven't had much time for personal artwork.
After the Holiday season you will likely see more art, because after New Years hopefully most of my stress will be gone!Kitten Journal

Originally we were going to look at one kitten, somewhere in downtown hamilton. But the owners phone was unreachable.
So we went to the area we thought we might find them, but found some one else who KNEW of kittens her mother had or something. We then called the mother, who said would call us back (but never did)
Giving up, we headed back to Anza's house. Upon checking Kijiji again, I noticed an ad, posted only a minute ago. We instantly called, the ad poster was quite shocked at how fast we replied.
And then we went and picked up or new little buddy.
He came with the name 'Chief' we just upgraded it to Master Chief.
He uhm, didn't QUITE get along with Billy right away (the kitten asserted his dominance and it was really unexpected)
December 3rd
They seem to get along better now, the kitten still chases Billy, but Chief isn't hissing any more.
Keep in mind, this is good since we got Chief as a Christmas buddy for Billy.
Anyways, Chief is 10 weeks old, his family had to get rid of him because their father had severe and sudden allergies appear. He's a pale brown tabby, with matching little brown eyes. He is just adorable, and I'm so happy right now (I'd be happier if I wasn't still sick but we can't win them all)

That awkward moment when said alarm is Eggs and you panic to turn it off before it gets to any lyrics.
An update on commission prices:
I'm considering making canon MLP alicorns more expensive than regular ponies. While I still enjoy drawing them and such, they are a lot more effort than regular ponies and thus I think should be charged a bit more for.
For now fan alicorns are the same price, as I'm not sure if I'll get any commissions for those, and they aren't all Celestia level detailed. (If they are more detailed than Celestia I might die.)
Otherwise everything is the same.
An update on my life:
Sick. There, you are up to date.
But in all seriousness, I think I got the flu. Had it for about... 2 weeks now? Roughly. It's been rough to say the least. I only just now saw a doctor about it, he gave me some GIANT pills as a prescription. They make me cry inside.
I was never good with swallowing pills, in fact I COULDN'T until recently.

On my breaks from working I will be doing some marker doodles, so if you want one just post a ref and I'll see what I can do!

Apartment, Cat, Money, & Fund Raiser
Posted 13 years agoOkay so it seems our apartment is finally working out, slowly.
Fleas are for the most part gone, but we had to do it ourselves.
Because the treatment was a dust, I couldn't be in the apartment due too asthma.
I am now potentially sick from it as well, but I can deal.
We are managing to actually clean it up now, it looks like a proper home.
Not just some storage dump.
Billy is gaining his weight back, but he still needs his bi-daily pills.
In another week he needs more vaccinations, and then two weeks after that more.
Each of which is going to cost a decent chunk of our funds.
Right now money is an issue, we haven't jobs yet as we wanted to deal with our apartment first.
No one seemed to bite the vectors, so I'm going to suggest an incentive.
$1 - $4, a small one character sketch
$5 - $7, a one character vector lineart or anything below
$8 - $10, a one character vector colour or anything below
$10 - $15, a joint pixel icon shaded or anything below
$20 - $25, your choice of any two or anything below

New Apartment & Fleas
Posted 13 years agoSo, we finally moved in to our apartment. All four of us where here for the first time, one of them brought her cat.
First of all, I want to clarify that my friend washed everything, all of her stuff, and the cat, no fleas. My girlfriend and I didn't notice it but, as soon as they moved in one of my friends noticed some bites on her.
No long after, did the other friend notice fleas in the carpet.
A few days before we moved in, our carpet had been cleaned. So we weren't worried. But now we really don't want to be here.
We have school starting in just over a week, but now have to clean everything that has been in our rooms.
We are going to try and see if the landlords will help with this as it was the previous tenants fault, not ours. And infact it may affect the landlords as their cat frequently visited our former tenant, and was let in the house.
If they refuse to help, we have to deal with it entirely on our own.
We don't have much money due to college and this apartment, and I'm not sure we will be able to bomb the room, clean all our stuff, and the cat (whom also needs to be neutered), as well as afford food, school supplies (we are all art students) and hydro.
Not to mention, this apartment is well... to say the least a disappointed. The last tenant left it with the stench of cat urine everywhere, broken screens in every window and door, a broken sliding door lock. Nothing was ready for our move in date. But we can't leave. Everywhere else is full, we've paid the last months rent. We're stuck. I don't know what to do, I'm stressed beyond belief and my one friend doesn't even want to be in the apartment.
It's ridiculous, I'm literally loosing sleep over it. Anza went to sleep but I just can't.
I will be offering vectors, which I normal would not do commissions for, you get 4 different sizes and the .svg file, of a character of your choice. Here are some examples, [x] [x] [x] [x]. I will do them for a minimum of $4, but if you want to donate more you can.
With school coming up, they will be done quickly through this week but after that it will slow down.

Posted 13 years agoI have really taken a liking to Vectoring, it allows me to have nice smooth lines even with out a tablet.
I want to learn more techniques with it, but all the tutorials are rather, bleh.
If you know any really good ones, can you share? Or if any one could teach me themselves that would be grand!

Posted 13 years agoUhm, so if you didn't gather from that title, which if you did I am impress. Came home from Con: Blue. In short, it was amaaaaaazing. I definitely want to go again. And again.
Twas my first Fur con, and I didn't really know what to expect outside of fursuits and stuff. It was certainly quality, I had more fun than I have at any of the other Anime/Comic/Whatever cons I've been too. Every one was awesome, met a bunch of awesome people, got awesome advice.
I pretty much have my tail figured out now. HUZZAH. It's going to be a monster, and I really hope I can find some more friends who would go with me out of suit to be handlers. I wont need one seeing, we plan on making massive eyes buuuuuut. I wont be able to see my tail. I will need some one behind me to make sure I don't take any one, or anything out.
ANYWAYS back to the con, can't wait for next year and any future fur cons! Need to update my list.

Next commission I get I'm going to go all out (if it allows me too) and try and expand my abilities.
Oh, and I'm back on Furcadia, I felt like dream weaving again. I have my regular username on there now, Crystal Blackpaws. My old one was dumb and I only had it because my user was taken.

Atomic Lollipop
Posted 13 years agoYup yup, I'm back now. We only really went for the one day. In fact we only had planned on one day, then we found out Renard's set was at 1am.
Thankfully we found a friend on the bus who let us share their hotel room.
She apparently took pictures of us sleeping...
anza bought me an adorable, and walleyed, lemur plush.
After many stupid names and puns, we settled on Eve, or Eva, which ever I remember first.
Later that day, while sitting down I became part hound dog. I saw a who I thought to be Renard, and was about to tell Anza, then someone walked in front of him and Renard was gone.
Then began the hunt.
Sad thing is, him and Squeedge found us before we found them (or at the same time... I don't quite know)
I really don't want to go into weird detail of analysing their behaviours cuz that's weird and they can see this too if they found it. But Renard seemed happy, but more, I dunno, use to it kind of thing? Like I'm sure he's met many fans over his cons. Squeedge seemed super excited, probably on par with me, except much less awkward.
Over all it was a great time, my legs kind of killed after like, 15 minutes of raving/dancing.
Likely because of asthma and lack of activity.
OH WELL. TIME WELL SPENT. Now excuse me while I hibernate.

We are working on sharks right now, (Mischief and Mayhem) to wear to Atomic Lollipop, we heard Renard will be there. We did a mad rush to get them done in time, and I'm not sure we will even get it entirely finished in time.
They are close enough you can tell who they are, which is what we want.
I really hope that he see's us. Sure we did the outfits for ourselves, but it's always nice to have the creators (or one of them) approval with things like this.

We died my wig with Sharpies alone and it looks GODLY for a first dying attempt. In my humble opinion.
I have decided for any wig dying in the future we are using Sharpies again. I love them now. For dying at least, they still suck for art.

I don't have money to travel, otherwise I would go to some other ones! Each one will be updated as it gets closer to the day as to what I will be wearing, and what day I will be wearing it on!

Posted 13 years agoI've been getting random bursts of motivation to get things done, but otherwise I feel like I'm just wasting away.
Not to mention, I miss my friends. And Anza, like holy shit. I want a hug really bad.
I don't mean to be so emo, but I dunno. Sitting in my room each day, hoping I get the insperation to do something isn't terribly thrilling.
I think tomorrow I'm going to marathon playing Silent Hill 2. That'll give me some motivation maybe....
On a brighter note, I'm going to start using Vectors for my pony style commissions, so they are more show accurate. I have Inkscape figured out to the point I am comfortable working with it. It gives a nice crisp result.
Not to mention, I miss my friends. And Anza, like holy shit. I want a hug really bad.

Of Suiting And Cosplay
Posted 13 years agoArgh. I'm so poor, so it seems like Anath and I wont be getting all of our planned cosplays done for the times we want.
I know I have to make an add, but every time I try it flops. I've never made a small advertisement before. I'm use to big ones you post on forums. And it has to contain our different art styles.
I'm so nervous I'm going to mess up.
Anyways, now that the bit of emo is out of the way, I might as well let you guys know what we had planned!
For Con: Blue we had wanted to have Sona ears, tails and paws done, which will likely happen since we don't actually have to buy anything (except maybel tails because both of ours will need wire bases due to size, and mine would require much longer fur). We had also wanted to get the clothing part of two secret suits done. But that requires money for fabric, and likely fabric paint.
For Fan Expo we had wanted to finish of the actually fursuit part of our secret suits, or at least the major parts. And then we would revamp/finish current projects on the go, such as make my Bec head eyes bigger, fix the moving jaw mech. and the jaw in general and finish her God Tier Vriska (yeah, were are both homestucks). I also wanted to try and start/finish my Heather Mason cosplay, since she was the first character I ever wanted to cosplay, and not to mention potentially my favourite character of all times. Next to Wheatley.
SPEAKING OF WHEATLEY, I'm getting a mini-Wheats for my birthday aaaaaaaa. So happy.
