For Those Worried by the Fear Mongering

Once upon a time in the United States of America drawn, painted, sculpted and otherwise artistic creations of children not only in adult sexual context but in the nude was made illegal. It didn't last long though because back then the citizens of this nice little country had cahoonas about them. It went to the high court and it was determined to be unconstitutional, and that was that. These days some people confuse the Miller / Three Prong Obscenity Test with basically allowing the system a work around where authorities can be passive concerning the higher court determining that artistic creations of children in "adult" context are protected, but if one does a little home work they will see that its not only nothing to fear, but the Miller test in that it is so vague in parts or in whole that it struggles to be used for the purpose it was made for, and there is heavy consideration to just drop it from the legal system.
"But I've heard that there have been arrests in the United States." There have been arrests in the US but in those arrests the art content found on computers was not what those individuals where charged for, they were charged for the real child porn found there along with it. The media, God bless them everyone (/sarcasm) really likes to play up the artistic stuff though along with the real stuff, cause it adds to the sensationalism. In Canada artistic child porn, including furry/cub porn is illegal, due in part because they want to empower the police to search those computers they find out it is on, for the belief that where there is pornographic art there is also actual pornography.
Just like in every other kinda set up, some things fall through the cracks, and sometimes when these things happen people are wrongfully accused and sentenced. Everyone who knows about the lacking shining perfection of the judicial system knows that there have been more than a few people found guilty of murder and wrongfully sentenced to prison and even death. If a person can go through the judicial system and be found guilty of that then you can darn sure bet that they can be wrongfully accused and sentenced for pretty much anything under the sun, and truth be told... people have been. So, yes there have been very few instances where individuals have been convicted for creating and or possessing art of child characters in adult context, but, this doesn't mean the world is ending as far as those things are concerned, it pretty much means that the individual who ended up going to jail and his defense team failed to stand up for themselves.
It's not difficult to see that there are several sites who host cub porn and seem not to have the issues that Dragoneer and Friends (said like Fox News and Friends) have with it. Not only that but there are sites that cater specifically to only cub art, like cubcentral.org where the porn to no porn content ratio is a lot higher than the chicken little screamers on FA ever thought of in their worst nightmare wet dreams. Cubcentral has been up and running more consistently than Furaffinity has for more than twice as long. Not only that, but sites like hentai-foundry.com and y-gallery.net host, get this, LA GASP actual plain and simple artistic kid porn like shota and loli art, and they've been up for years! And ya know what, there have been more than a few sites on the internet that hosted plain and simple actual kid porn, and God bless them (not sarcasm at all) the FBI comes right along and takes em down, rather swiftly and rather effectively. You don't hear about that among the furry chicken little (The sky is falling, THE SKY IS FALLING!!!) crowd because they don't represent actual law, they represent conservative moral thought police that like to scare us into submitting to being their little puppets and only behaving in the manner that they wish. So long as a site is not hosting illegal content and holds to their responsibility to take down illegal content if its posted and report the perpetrators if its something like actual child porn to the authorities, the FBI and that bunch have bigger fish to fry. It will take a little homework to find out that some of the sites that host cub porn and / or shota do get freaks who actually post really illegal content to the servers, and admin and mod staff have had to remove it and gather info to report it to the authorities. It's almost really simple to figure out if you think about it, for all the dweebs who will report a site just because they think it should be against the law, and for all the fuck munches who post illegal content to those sites, sometimes deliberately just to get them taken down... When a site has been up for a few years, here's what it means.... They're doin it right! Know what I mean?
It's a fickle world indeed, and the lines are sketchy enough to not go at things lacklusterly and care free, but we don't have to listen to the scare tactics and fear mongering either. Do your homework a little and you will see that what's not against the law is allowed to stand, and whats illegal has been taken down, and not only that but the matter has been argued in high court in the United States and the decision has been made and that particular will not be reviewed again. The Miller Test may not exist in the near future, but there is a possibility that something will be written up to take its place. If its not acceptable to the artistic community then its their burden to stand up and say something about it and to make sure the governmental error is corrected, like they used to do when they had balls about them.
But as far as having balls about them when it comes to standing up and defending the right to true freedom of expression, don't expect Dragoneer and his butt buddies to be there for ya.

Site Status - 8 - Now Hiring (Updated)
Posted 13 years agoSURPRISE!!!
Well, believe it or not, we're still here! We've been here this whole time but secretly plotting in the shadows... Us little ones can hide in good places, like under bushes and under beds. Naw... Some major changes in the site owners life slowed things down a lot soon after what was supposed to be the sites grand opening. Hopefully all is at a more stable place and we can move on with our ideas. We did have a lot of discoveries happen where it was good that incompatibilities were found that will prevent unneeded drama flareups in the future, this opens up opportunities for admin, mods, and staff positions, so if you wanted to be involved before, now is an even better time to catch up to me and slip in an interview.
Right now there is something to do for anyone who wants to get involved. The following is a crude list of positions needing to be filled, in the order of the sites hierarchy.
NOTE: More important than any other positions right now we need to form a good Ops Team and Admin Team, so please check those positions out first and if you can fit into one and / or the other please email us at cubaffinity[at]gmail.com as soon as possible.
cubAffinity User Hierarchy
administrative staff:
11 Slots Available - 1 Taken
Direct extensions of the owner of the site. Governing body of the community, capable of handling most if not all duties. Put forth to hand most if not all duties as the site is just getting started, but consult, advise, yet follow the plan and structures set out as the owner decides and then last of all delegate responsibilities to there subordinates.
administrative support:
6 Slots Available - 2 Taken
Much like Admin staff but most likely answer to and operate under an administrative staff member assigned to a particular section of the site or focused duty. These individuals would most likely be able to handle a more general scope of duties but to a lesser degree and with a smaller time commitment than administrative staff. Also to some degree they would supervise mod staff and under more directly that the administrative staff team.
*operations:
Ops team handles software and hardware specific concerns. Our ops team has administrative staff level access to the site, but this does not necessarily mean that they would share the same duty structure. Currently we have one member who is almost purely hardware operations, but provides light advice concerning design and operations, and light software support, and we have one member who provides Drupal specific ops support and sits on administrative staff.
5 Slots Available - 1 Taken
(Available slots = 2 slots Boonex (Dolphin 7 - 8) focused and, 2 slots PHP and other site specific with possible Boonex or other similar software experience, and 1 slot mostly design focused with experience / or ability to learn skills necessary to implement changes as needed.)
NOTE: If you do not have any upfront experience with Boonex but feel that with your experience with other packages or just you having looked at it and thought, "hey I could bite into that and do something awesome", I'll consider allowing you a trial run if you can put some time into it.
helper:
This user role will be removed soon. It is just the general cover all role for anyone helping me with the site right now as I assign duties to the newly created user structure.
modstaff:
6 Slots Available - 0 Taken
Moderators often help out in a general sense especially so far as the site being new right now, but have a lesser commitment to duty than admin or admin support, as well as being individuals who answer to admin and admin support. As the site becomes more refined and staff roles more defined, moderators will most likely oversee very focused parts of the site, such as one or few groups or watching over and keeping on track a forum page and the threads there in, or tending to albums under one or more categories.
*deputy:
6 Slot Available - 0 Taken
Deputies are officers specifically given more authority to police for and "arrest" users who are violating site policy or otherwise utilizing the site maliciously or abusing other members.
They are not judge, jury, and executioner and are only meant to be the front line reaction to things going on that shouldn't. All instances where a deputy ends up needing to take harsh action, where it escalates to "arrest" / "suspend" the matters will be brought forth to modstaff, admin support, or administrative to determine more clearly what needs to be done. Deputies can not "ban" per se, unless you want to consider temporary suspension a temp "ban", but they will be encouraged to take down information where those above them can make a fair decision concerning the necessity for their intervention.
For more about this see... suspect, probation, locked, and troll users below.
security:
Non specific number of slots open - none taken
Much like deputies but not able to "arrest" / "suspend", they are encouraged to patrol and report and may be asked to help in more indepth investigations to support a deputies case and thereby may also be called to "observe" / "witness" deputy - member interactions.
helpstaff:
Non specific number of slots open - 5 possible takens
Generally speaking those given some extra access's in order that they can better assist modstaff.

Happy New Year
Posted 15 years agoDelicious Christmas Irony
Posted 15 years agoWell, it doesn't have much to do with Christmas, per se... Except for the date of delivery.
So you've probably heard the rumors that we're gonna be a "cub porn site". Brilliant minds even insist on saying that the simple combination of the words "cub" and "affinity" (especially when using quotes such as I just did) only solidifies logic that supports that it's not just a rumor that the site is a "cub porn site" but that its an "obvious" fact.
Okay, so I'll consider that these wonderful people know perfectly well what they are talking about. So lets apply the logic to "fur" and "affinity"... IF we are to take it that these people have any idea what they are talking about, such as I am right now, this should be seen by anyone who doesn't know otherwise as "obviously meaning that FA is a zoophile and bestiality site.
But just about the time I start thinking that the logic and thought put into these manners of deduction are flawless and completely plausible I get an email on Christmas stating this...
After reviewing you policies/ideals I see that I was mistaken about the site. I was only signing on for the porn... Y'all take care with your site and community, its a shame about FA.
This along with none of the information that was asked for in order to approve their membership. In other words, since we as furries like to fling the "o word" around so much, he obviously doesn't want to join our site because he looked things over and saw that we were not going to be the kind of site we are rumored to be.
The more you know.
I honestly wish this individual well in his endeavors, and hope he had a Merry Christmas like I did. Same for all of you out there, whether you're the kind smart enough to rant and rave about the site like all the rumors are true, or if you're the people witty enough to figure it out... or just ask (intelligently)... I hope you are having a safe, fun and merry, most wonderful time of the year.

Site Status - Update 8
Posted 15 years agoWWW.CUBAFFINITY.NET
STATUS = ACTIVE but "PROBLEMATIC"
Still being in "BETA" means that there will be glitches and problems with using the site. Features that we intend to implement my not be present or if they are they may not work correctly. We're still pretty much in the middle of configuration and setup, please be patient as we change a lot of things around very dynamically. We're currently overhauling the front page so that we can post current news, status, events, and other information there rather than depending so much on cA on FA. We've recently set up Facebook and Twitter accounts that we will cross post on and we've set up a Google account to offset and handle some features we will eventually be accommodating ourselves but feel we need now and will probably use to some degree later on.
As was announced by fair furred puppy thingy, we've been trying to develop a better signup process but this has been met with some delays. We're currently considering that its best that we close automated sign ups, deal with all our sign ups so far, and have people who want to join the community email us a form where we'll manually process these and create accounts until the registration process can be corrected. Currently not sure about that, but I'm just saying so so that members and those interested know what is happening and could happen here in the next week or two.
We're still on target for our Ground Hogs Day grande opening and the site has been stable with green lights across the board over 95% the time it's been up, which has been almost a month now. Currently we have some software conflicts giving us a red light but not impeding on the overall functionality of the site, or adding anymore dysfunction, if you would rather look at it that way. These issues will be resolved in a day or two, maybe even tonight. Finally there has been a recent release of our core software and a total software upgrade will be installed before or during the holiday weekend.
We here on the cA staff would like to thank you for your patience and enthusiasm. We appreciate it very much and think that it will be worth it.
Also...
Happy First Day Of Winter / Solstice
and
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Site Status - 6 - Now Hiring & FYI - cA User Hierarchy
Posted 15 years agoWell, its been jus over a week, an jus WOW!!! We started out with something like 15 page-views here and we're over a 1000 above that now. We went from 4 or so watchers, which were my buddies who helped me come up with most the initial ideas and concepts for the community, and now we're are pushing 70 watchers, a good 95% of which are enthusiastic about the project. Some are those evil lurkers and trolls that we cant live with and cant live without.
Speaking of dem nasty trolls, aside from them we've managed well over 100 members on cubAffinity.net that are actual legitimately interested critters who share a desire to see the site succeed. I've been dealing with an overwhelming positive response and despite some big names in the fandoms efforts to either deliberately or not care enough to not inadvertently hinder our efforts and the very little negative response from that, we're trucking on only a little behind schedule. If we've been able to accomplish all that with like 30 or so invites and not really even having a web page, imagine what's gonna happen when we're really up and running!?
As far as server and software are concerned we've tweaked out those red and yellow lights we had and we're green across the board. We're cleaning up our land slide of sign-ups, a lot of which were just people trying to be an undesirable pain under our tails, and it will take us a little bit to sort through that, so if you feel its taking a while for us to approve your membership, that would be why. When we've hashed through most of that we will move back to a more specific combined effort to work on getting us out of default more. To that regard we have a new site design working, which I'm enthusiastic about, but definitely admit needs some work. Just wanted to show that even with everything else we are dealing with, we are still trying to move things out of default. There still isnt much to do, but we are trying to lend some focus over to enabling a few features so you can start using the site for something. First on the agenda is enabling you to work on your profile. We're shooting for being very community focused, so a rich profile will be key. We'll announce when we're more ready to say GO on that, as well as some other features.
I've managed to pull together a good paw full of people to form my initial help team. I've got 2 ops people, but need 3 or 4 more, and aside from those who will be working mostly on hardware and or software, I've got 6 or 7 or so of a team of 30 or more that I need for anything from high level admin all the way down to help staff and content (site specific) contributers. To that regard I hope this list helps a little bit. I'll be posting something more about it, but as of right now its still anything you feel you can effectively and enjoy doing a lot, you dont have to be an expert, but experience helps, although that is not necessary either. I'll just ask in the interview chat why you think you would be good at it, if you don't have any experience, and we can toss around ideas and such and if I feel your good to go, you're in.
So where I list "slots available" don't count that as set in stone necessarily. This is all a work in progress and things can change, with notice. Also, I know I need to tweak the duties and such, but this is just a rough for starters WIP kinda thing, so throw me a bone.

Generally speaking those given some extra access's in order that they can better assist modstaff.
sponsfur:
Those few members who are given access to bonus or additional features because they have either paid for them specifically or they have donated to the site and we feel it only fair they receive something more to show our gratitude.
super memfur:
Those few who are granted honored artist / member accounts for being integral members of the community.
memfur:
Graciously and proudly accepted members of our community. Standard members are granted access to pretty much 95% of what our site has to offer.
authenticated user:
Software specific technical term for a user who has been approved / authenticated through the registration process. Authenticated users will most likely be able to view much of the site, but will have restricted access to submission and editing features until we can further confirm they are not gaining access to our community to troll, harrass, or other act out in other problematic manners.
anonymous user:
Software specific technical term for a user role that we will not utilize.
suspect:
Suspect members are those members where a situation has escalated to a point where we have determined it best that certain access's and use of the site must be blocked for said user for a time that it can be determined that they will not utilize said features to lash out against or otherwise harm the site or other members of the community.
Typically this means that they will be allowed to view all that they normally do, but they will not, for example, be allowed to upload content, and may be restricted from comments, and will be limited to correspondence with staff utilizing a simple text editor.
While matters are hashed out and dealt with, suspect members will not be flagged as such for the general membership to see.
probation:
Probation is more or less temp ban, highly restricted use of the site.
If a member has been escalated from suspect to probation because the matter could not be resolved the reason for their being put on probation will be posted for the general membership to review.
locked:
Locked members are completely blocked from access the site, down to as strict banning as we can manage. Locked members could prevent unlocked members of cA from viewing the site for we will most likely resort to IP banning. We will however first and for most never do this unless a panel of individuals has decided it necessary (unless of course its for some legal concern like they loaded CP), and second of all we will try our best to impose these actions only on those who need it and technically make all attempts to allows access to the site for those who had no part in the wrong even if they live in the same home as the offender or share the same computer.
Locked members will be flagged as such to the general membership along with a summery of why these actions where taken.
troll:
Troll members are the same as locked members but specifically tagged as troll for falling under that category. This will also take into consideration that in our intervention and investigations we've found that these users have consistently acted the same on other sites. This info will be included in summery for general membership to review at their leaser.
underage -18:
Currently blocked, and possibly restricted access in the future, user. Only for being under legally mandated age governing use of a website with adult content on it, such as cubAffinity.
underage -13:
Like underage -18, but blocked and tagged for even more stringent restrictions concerning possible future access.
cA on FA Mods:
2 Slots Available - 0 Taken
As we are quickly out growing my ability to tend to cA on FA and giving it the attention I so desperately want to and feel it needs to while still focusing on the site as much as I should I'm looking for 2 like minded individuals to help me man this boat over here.
Also, I know I need to tweak the duties and such, but this is just a rough for starters WIP kinda thing, so throw me a bone.
cubAffinity User Hierarchy
administrative staff:
11 Slots Available - 5 Taken - TBA
Direct extensions of the owner of the site. Governing body of the community, capable of handling most if not all duties. Put forth to hand most if not all duties as the site is just getting started, but consult, advise, yet follow the plan and structures set out as the owner decides and then last of all delegate responsibilities to there subordinates.
administrative support:
6 Slots Available - 2 Taken - TBA
6 Slots Available - 2 Taken - TBA
(Available slots = 1 slots Drupal focused and, 2 slots PHP and other site specific with possible Drupal or other similar software experience, and 1 slot mostly design focused with experience / or ability to learn skills necessary to implement changes as needed.)
NOTE: If you do not have any upfront experience with Drupal but feel that with your experience with other packages or just you having looked at it and thought, "hey I could bite into that and do something awesome", I'll consider allowing you a trial run if you can put some time into it.
helper:
This user role will be removed soon. It is just the general cover all role for anyone helping me with the site right now as I assign duties to the newly created user structure.
modstaff:
6 Slots Available - 2 Taken - TBA
Moderators often help out in a general sense especially so far as the site being new right now, but have a lesser commitment to duty than admin or admin support, as well as being individuals who answer to admin and admin support. As the site becomes more refined and staff roles more defined, moderators will most likely oversee very focused parts of the site, such as one or few groups or watching over and keeping on track a forum page and the threads there in, or tending to albums under one or more categories.
*deputy:
6 Slot Available - 0 Taken

Rumor Control: cubAffinity is a "newly registered art site"
Posted 15 years agoLIE: "cubAffinity.net is a newly registered domain name, site, and user account on FA, obviously created in response to the cub porn ban. LOL WTF"
Truth: The cubAffinity account was created here on FA shortly before the purchase of the domain name just over a year prior to the November 24th announcement on FurAffinity concerning cub art with explicit adult themes. Technicaly speaking though, just for the sake of being totally truthful, cubaffinity.net domain name was registered/purchased 11-25-09. Trial run sites where attempted on ning and grou.ps no less than 6 months ago and safely no more than 9 months ago. See cubaffinity.ning.com and cubafinity.grou.ps . As per the failure of those two services to meet the needs and desires of the cubAffinity team we decided to seek out a smaller more dedicated provider. We sent out notice and such and around the beginning of November we were contacted and opened up communications with a provider who felt that they could handle our needs and wants and were enthusiastic to do so. Agreements concerning the servers and hosting services for handling cubAffinity were finalized on the evening of November 13th into the morning hours of the 14th, 10 days prior to FurAffinity's announcement that they could no longer host cub porn.

Posted 15 years agoWWW.CUBAFFINITY.NET
STATUS = YELLOW - Active but "PROBLEMATIC"
We are still mostly "out of box" aka default and in the middle of configuration and setup, please be patient as we change a lot of things around very dynamically.
We are experiencing difficulty with members signing up and using msn, hotmail, or any other Microsoft associated service, if you did this yesterday and for some reason have not received the email to approve your account PM us and we will take the necessary steps to resolve this. Otherwise right now we ask that you utilize any other email service such as gmail or yahoo. We apologize for the inconvenience and complication.Well, what a day Wednesday was, finally got our drama cherry popped, should have raffled how soon that was going to happen, but oh well.
LOL
Talked things over with my team, and no surprise although I'm still pleased as a peach, they don't see any validity in the conclusions that have been jumped to, the assumptions that abound, and the accusations that have been made. Give a guy a warm feeling and all inside to see confirmation that he's picked some critters with good heads on their shoulders and who have faith in that this can be done and it can be done in compliance with the law. That's not going to sit well with a lot of furs, even in the cub community, but that's not gonna slow us down much if any at all when all is said and done. Thanks team for showing your support and strength.
Aside from getting a yellow light concerning a technical concern, and a red light concerning a hiccup with the text editor module, the site is still stable and has been up and running since it was turned on.
We are looking to resolve the aforementioned issues as well as installing and configuring some more modules to make profile creation more fun. Considering some direct concerns with what happened earlier today (Wednesday) we are also looking to install and tweak the sign up process to where we will require some information in order to better determine if someone is creating an account to troll or if they intend on actually being a contributing and otherwise welcome participant in our community. Later one members will have to furthermore agree to use of the site compliant to what is pretty much the same as what every other site asks in order to use their site. As this is somewhat of a gated, guarded, and focused community, we feel it necessary to mention here that you need not worry about security matters with the current "open door" policy where everyone is getting an account.
Current priorities are...
1... Sorting through the modules (feature sets) we want most, upfront (meaning that your fav lacking now does not mean it wont be added later), and implementing them and tweaking any issues out of them so they are usable with as little problems as possible, while also preserving site stability.
2... Keeping up here (cA on FA) and managing transition concerns for people who are trying to make the switch but are having problems or just need questions and curiosities to be answered for. Also still recruiting and forming the Admin team to better pull it together for you guys.
3... Looking to have a rough site policy up in a week or less.
4... I intend on making an official announcement as to a few staff members in a few days or sooner, and have the vague list as to positions that need to be filled or rather those that need to be filled ASAP up within a week or sooner.
5... Had intended that the site be mostly out of default by now and a beta version of the site as cubAffinty live by the weekend, but this looks to be now like we will be out of default by the weekend and hopefully beta cA in a week.
All other concerns as there are many ins and outs of managing this situation aren't really being disregarded its just those I just listed are top on the list. Number 5, the look and feel of the site, will rise from its current last priority as the others are tended to and gotten out of the way, and we look to have what we are calling an actually "beta" version of cubAffinity by this time next week.
Things are only going a little slower than planned and in one day we could take a sudden leap in progress and surprise us all, so don't get discouraged.
We appreciate your patience and enthusiasm, keep up the hope, we can do this.
[EDIT]
We will also be installing language support over the next few days for the following...
Czech - Čeština
French - Français
Hungarian - Magyar
Portuguese, Brazil - Português
Portuguese, Portugal - Português
Spanish - Español
Please don't feel too discouraged if your preferred language is not listed as we will be adding more as we see a need. You can also message us with a request and we'll consider implementing it on the site.
FYI - MICRO RANT - Summery
Posted 15 years agoIn the land of "Sword-o-Lupine" they aint gonna be any bookstores that sell both "adult content" and children books - So Barnes and Noble and the like are out, and all those local grocers who sell those dirty nasty magazines that share a rack with teen centric comic books and / or Dark Wing Duck... not in his nation, not if his congregation has their way. And so as it is "offline" so shall it most definitely be "online"... Like in China.
All praise the child like lupine and his sword!
And his army marches on.

FYI - You Know What Happens When You Assume, Right? ;-)
Posted 15 years agoAnyone making assumptions or jumping to asinine and unfounded conclusions that we intend for Cub Affinity to be primarily focused on being a "cub porn site", and that among other rather hasty accusations, we are going to create a part of the site that we are only considering without first seriously thinking it over, even if its already been done on other sites and offline establishments who never had to deal with "trouble" for doing it...
Does not know what he is talking about.
Contrary to what it seems they would have you think, there is just no way they can know enough about what cA is going to be and what we are trying to do, to even pretend like they have much of any their facts strait.
No matter how they take what I have said on the matter out of context and no matter what the sensationalist Nancy Grace spin they put on the story for what ever reason their undies are in a tissy and they just cant seem to understand...
Trust me, I / We / cA are the better source on the subject.
Further more and more specifically since it seems that there are some brilliant minds who keep missing the facts and feel they are smart enough to fill in the blanks with something they think is fair and sometimes completely logical assumptions...
1: Since I guess it can not be emphasized enough even considering the multitude of times it has before... Cub Affinity is not being set up to be the definitive cub porn resource on the web, not any where close to it. Period, PERIOD, PERIOD... Call in all your high profile spokespeople like Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin and they can rant and rave till their throats are bloody and it still wont make your assumption concerning this matter a truth!
2: Yes the goal of cA is to cater to a cub centric community, this does not mean that its intent is to limit content and media to that only directly relating to cubs, and it if you are anyone else but Nancy Grace or people like her, the words cub and affinity, taken apart or put together do not automatically equate to something that means cub porn.
Its a fact, that.
Also, a repeat of what I've said before.
3: Although it is mentioned to start with in the rough draft description of what the site is going to be and some of the goals we are considering, cubAffinity is not an idea spawned by the November 24th announcement on FA that cub porn "had" to be banned. The idea's for such a site have been in the works for nearly if not more than half a decade, spurred on by the fandoms reaction to cub in general and indeed in part to FA's reaction to not only cub porn, but in no way shape or form is it born of what happened on the 24th of November. How can this be when the domain was purchased a year and a day prior? How can this be when agreement for the server that would host it were hashed out several weeks almost a month before FA made their announcement.
Honestly tell me oh wise and all knowing friends who think you are authoritative enough to preach such things as what you are saying as gospel, how is it that these things can be facts pertaining to red flags concerning our site and community and it can be said that we can have faith in you to be telling the truth, and that you are ones we should trust in actually being capable of weighing the actual facts and making logic out of it rather than talking out your ass?
4: Actually sort of a fresh concern cause I'm not really too sure I've mentioned it before but it was not my intent that that terrible rough draft and expression of some ideas we would be tossing around concerning what cA was going to be, was meant to be taken as written in stone what we were going to be, period, never to change or waiver till death do us part.
I thought I had expressed things in a manner where as it was to be taken more like an expression of the possibilities and maybe the intents, but as far as this recent "controversy" and highly uncalled for drama is concerned pertaining to a small statement where I expressed the possibility of having it set up so that children could use the appropriate parts of the site, with adult guidance, its being made out like I said it as a for sure thing, and that I'm some kind of nut job for setting up a site so little kids can get on it and look at cub porn.
To be blatantly obvious I don't appreciate those members of our cub fur community who seem now to be proud of the fact that they are so blinded by ignorance and thinking so highly of themselves that they don't have the intellectual capacity to interpret or just really feel it makes them look good to disregard and blow out of proportion the following paragraph...
We are looking to having two major parts of the service, Adult and Under 18. This is not of particular concern at start because of the complexities of pulling it off and still covering our asses, but I really want to offer a chance for a broader scope of membership and I've had many requests to facilitate something where furry parents can create accounts for their children monitor their use and even upload their art and read back the wonderful feedback they get so they can feel more validated for their skills from the early get go.
Plain and simple, its no where close to being as big a deal as you are making it out to be. This is why I equate it to Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, and Nancy Grace... Honestly if you don't want to be called out for sounding like them, don't go on sounding like them. Also, I'm not pointing a finger at you and saying something like you've mislead the community into thinking that you support us while really being a Nancy Grace infiltrator who is now imposing conservative agenda and views on the cub fandom, I'm meaning to simply point out that what you are saying and at the point you are saying it, without getting your facts strait, and the manner that you are going about saying it... "GRR" - RAAGE - Sensation - DRAMA - sounds to me and a few others within my proximity like Nancy Grace does even on her good days. Get that woman going, and OH MY GOD... I honestly am amazed at her how she can pretend to damn near stroke out and somehow always seems to keep from busting a capillary in her brain. And boy does it seem like you're on a similar path.
I still have faith that you are not radical conservative or a close minded crazy, this would be one of the key reasons for pointing out though that you are sounding like one.
Here's a chill pill...
I got ya orange sickle flavor chewable, hope you like, hope it works.
5: We're not being careless, ignorant, or otherwise disregarding the complexities involved in access limitations in so much as how they apply to our project and features we may or may not implement. One of our key concerns is offering a stable place where all the legal things we can and want to do can be done without an overwhelming fear that sooner or later the site will bend and comply to the rantings and demands of the thought police. No method, procedure, or policy that we put on the table for mulling over and consideration will go live without first making sure it's feasible and we can do it. Even if successful at our peak we really do not see out sight being anywhere near the size and requiring the effort to run of FA. So, it's not really that daunting of a task, and there really isn't any factually relevant argument that speaks so much impossibility and insanity as it seems you and your posse feel necessary to impose concerning the things we are considering doing in our community and on our site.
6: Nothing I have said and nothing we mean to be comes close to being something akin to okaying real parent child sexual interaction... Why are you of all people making statements like that? Wait, cause you're off on some wacked out strange tangent cause you almost seem to be deliberately misunderstanding what's been said already. It's almost sounds like you're getting off on sounding as much like Nancy Grace and the like as possible.
Maybe you've watched too much spin and its rubbing off on you or something.
Here's another chewable chill pill... Don't worry, you sorta cant od on these.
OH YUM... I didn't know they made these in cherry cobbler flavor... Live and learn, rrrrRIGHT?
...
Wait there's more...
Actually, nawwwww... I'm done, with this, dis discussion is like having a conversation with Fred Phelps or the Grand Fucking Nagus of your local Aryan Nation chapter, they're so convinced in their narcissistic ignorance that they are right about something that is plainly not as cut and dry as they want you to believe and what they are convinced to believe, its all rather futile, and a waste of time. If they really need to have that thick of skulls and demand that things are some way they are not... Pssshhh... let em, hell I dont care if they fap over derpy ignorance... Go at it boys or girls, different strokes for different folks. Just felt that I needed to point out how wrong they are to those that would listen and can read what's been said over and over again and not obsess over all the negative and rain unnecessary fear mongering down on us.
PS: For all you people out there derpin out, I didn't just accuse the leader of this pack of being a Pope of Westboro Baptist Church or captain of the skin heads, I simply equated what's been being said and the way its being said to sounding akin to how those people do it. Don't go all aneurysming out and all on us.
Jeesh.
Ending on a more friendly note as to show that I have at least a little bit of faith left in a little wolf who I once thought was rather wise... He's right about at least one thing...
I ain't no lawyer, DERP!!!
Though just for funs sake and a heart felt nod to "Father Quack"... Can I at least pretend that my car is a black helicopter?
LOL
Off to build a nice community for a fair enough portion of the cub fur community to make it worth it. It's not gonna be for everyone, and even not for all the cubs and those that love them, but it'll be a nice and right to a few and since we're not trying to be huge, we like that idea.
Does not know what he is talking about.

Posted 15 years agoGirls and Boys, Ladies and Gents, those in between or on either side...
For some reason we're getting both pro and con, positive and negative responses concerning our project being primarily geared towards being a cub porn free for all. Completely contrary to everything that I've said concerning the matter in the user page where I describe the site and in journals where I address it more directly, and for no other reason than probably undue and unfair fear mongering and panic, this is not our intent, and further more it is our direct intent to actively keep cA from "accidentally" becoming cub porn central.
Believe it or not, the conservative minded furs and those on the left that lean sometimes a little to far to the right are wrong as far as cub porn being something that will take over your site should you allow it, or that should you allow it and it not really creep into all nooks and crannies of your site and show up everywhere it can not exist in a capacity where it enacts secret agenda to impose itself on all it can and turn them into kid fuckers. There is no evidence or so little that its not as simply obvious as its made out to be, that supports these beliefs.
We are no more going to be a site specifically geared toward cub porn than the furry fandom is geared specifically for gays and lesbians.
Like I said before, at the starting line when we initiate content uploads our adult section may be inundated with a lot of cub porn content and our member base may be primarily those coming here to view and or post cub porn (similar to what is happening on Ink Bunny and the slight reawakening on sites like Cub Central), but this will die down and average out later on down the road, especially considering things like active attempt by cA to encourage g and pg content so that the site is as enjoyable to those who will be restricted from viewing adult content as it is for those who can access adult content. That's not all we'll be doing, but WOW people!
That being said, just for balance and spite, I feel like going to go to a KKK youth rally and burnin some pedo bears or attend Sunday service and listen to Fred Phelps and shout amen a total of 5 times before I leave, no matter how ridiculously similar what he says is to all this hog wash about cA.
Please please take heed of this information and consider it before you advertise praise or scorn the site for being made to be something it is not.

STATUS = ACTIVE but "PROBLEMATIC"
We are still only "out of box" - default, and in the middle of configuration and setup, please be patient as we change a lot of things around very dynamically.
We apologize for the inconvenience and complication.Wow! What a day yesterday was, and I'm not sure the next few days will be any less exciting and busy.
First and foremost to those of you who were clawing and pawing (no not like that silly perv monsters, not that we mind) at the door, when it wasn't even there, because you were so excited about this project, and flooded in at the first chance you got just to sign up... I want to offer you my heart felt thanks. You are a special group who will be at the minimum without much effort from yourself forming the foundation and backbone of what cA is to become. We feel its not really a matter of being a slight chance that we will be successful, with all the minds we are gathering together to do this, and with the creativity, skills, and passion of those getting involved from the get go, we will be very successful in being a cyber home for a nice enough group of littles and those who love them to make it all worth while. We're not aiming to take down ruPadded or the like, we're not looking to replace Ink Bunny, nor even smear FA, we've got a good idea, and all we are looking to do is hold our place in the fandom, and we calculated that there was a place but up till this last weekend and especially yesterday we didn't know for sure... Now we do.
Rah Rah and tear jerker (at least it was for me, there at the end) speech aside, around now or here in a little bit the site will have been up and "stable" for 24 hours.
We decided to go with drupal software package so once again if you know some of PHP and drupal specific and you would like to put that to use with this project, please pm me ASAP.
3... Still trying to get site policy written up and will be working more on that.
4... I'll not only be hopefully getting a vague list of positions to be filled, but looking to officially an announce 2 new staff members.
5... Making the site look more like what we want cubAffinity to look like other than a very generic site and getting things up and running so you have some activities to do other than just signing up and signing on. I plan on giving the editor and profile module a priority here so you can play around and create nice profiles in order to claim your identity in our community.
All other concerns as there are many ins and outs of managing this situation aren't really being disregarded its just those I just listed are top on the list. Number 5, the look and feel of the site, will rise from its current last priority as the others are tended to and gotten out of the way, and we look to have what we are calling an actually "beta" version of cubAffinity hopefully by the weekend or at the outside, this time next week.
We appreciate your patience and enthusiasm, so many of you are being so exceedingly kind and helpful and it feels rather nice to bask in that warmth.

Posted 15 years agoPlease be patient as we take the site out of default and set some things up.
I ask that you wait till later to sign up, but if you cant wait, and I love you being that excited about it and you do sign up, if there is any trouble or hick up with the sign up, stay calm till later on when we'll be addressing the issue to make sure people can access the site.
We're really working hard to get things up and running for ya.

*dances around and wags happily*
Keep in mind that we're only default, raw, and fresh out of the box. We're working on a beta version of something that can actually be called cA being up by the weekend still.

Site Status - Update - 3
Posted 15 years agoWell as some of you may have noticed, the site isnt up yet. Then we've shifted from a parked domain name to being "server not found". This in essence could be called progress as it means we've pointed the domain at the server but the server does not have anything to offer back as of yet. I'm hoping with the holiday hubub and remodeling out of the way server side can initiate the site today, but I'm hoping no later than Wednesday. I think we are looking to try out Xoop or Drupel for our software.
Another thing that I was really excited about doing before today was officially announcing my first staff member but I have not heard from him since last we talked so there is going to be a delay concerning that matter. I hope he's okay and that nothing bad happened.
Some of you, actually most of you are expressing a lot of enthusiasm not just about the site but about having something to do with it, but with recent events on FA are left feeling a little hopeless and then that tends to cast a shadow over what is already a touchy territory... our egos, and you express a sense and feeling of really not being able to amount to much that would help with the site here. There are other things that muddle the situation, like the big one... there not really being a site to look at right now... But for those of you who I sent notes out to this first go around, it was because I really really felt that after watching your part in the community for the last decade I thought you could be integral in having some part even if only you gave the slightest effort, into making this community project a success. You don't have to be the most genius and experienced admin like Dragoneer, you don't have to be popufur like Uncle Kage, and you dont have to know PHP or HTML in and out so well you hold 5 degrees in it or some obscure technical PHD. Most of you that I sent notes out to express a passion and depth of character through your art, some of you are show very strong conviction in your presence and ideals concerning the community that we are shooting for and just a glorious stance as far as the general well being and freedom of everyone. As far as I know, I didnt send notes to anyone who was superficial or could care less. Now, that's not to say that in the moment the wounds could be fresh enough and sore enough that the biggest part of you on the outside could give a fuck if the world collapses in on its self, but what I'm talking about is the real you, the core you, the average you that has been seen over the years or for a few of you months.
Another things related strongly to that, that I think is making it hard for you to decide what part you could help in, is that there is such an overwhelmingly open call of parts to play, and I'm being rather unspecific when it comes to you asking what I would like you to do.
First and foremost I do not want you to have to do anything that would place too much of a burden on you unless you feel that to some extent a little added motivation can be achieved by doing so. But key to what I'm trying to do here, I'm looking for as much stability and consistency as I can manage for the site, so I don't want you to get involved and then a few weeks or months down the road suddenly disappear and when I finally get in touch with you and ask what happened you say it just all got to be too much and you got burned out. See, here at the start when everything is dark and without tangible form, there is everything to do, there are large tasks, a lot of in between tasks, and there are smaller parts to play, there is so much that there is no reason you should pick something that you would not enjoy doing for a long term and there is so much that you can literally pick anything, except pretty much site owner... I beat ya to it. If you dont know what you can do, I cant know what to put you to that would be best for you and me and the community we're trying to build. I'm pretty good at hashing things out with people in chat, if you can give some time to it without attempting to multi task... which typically means playing games at the same time as trying to figure out something with some seriousness to it. So if you can find a save point, or just put down the controller and focus for a fair amount of time, it always turns out that we can figure out a pretty good part for you to play and sometimes the "perfect" task.
Never the less it seems that maybe a stronger sense of structure will help us along so one of the things that I'll add to my priorities is attempting to write up a list of positions that need to be filled.
So just to give you an idea of what I'm working on most right now... In this order...
1: Tending to technical matters with getting the site live, if even in a "raw" state.
2: Forming my team - Chatting with and otherwise keeping up with the overwhelming positive response here on cubAffinity on FurAffinity. In the last few days I've handled almost 100 correspondences.
3: Writing up a rough draft of what will be our site policy.
4: Writing up a rough draft of positions I need filled.
5: Managing some creative content like the pictures uploaded here recently, so there is something fun in the midst of all the seriousness right now.
I hope you all will remain enthusiastic and patient with me while we work hard on making this happen.
PS: Any of you catch a glimps of our first troll before I nabbed 'im?

Posted 15 years agoJust sent off a note asking server side to give a serious look into xoops and drupal to run the initial stages of cA on, rather than dolphin. We'll still be looking over other softwares and such as we go, and could very will stick with one of the choices that we end up using. Also looking, but not so seriously, into impresscms, tiki groupware, and elgg.
Still working on a goal of having something up other than a parked domain and walls of text here to be available tomorrow (Monday morning) but holiday hubub and such has slowed things down for all of us especially when you throw in the sudden urgency caused by changes here on FA.
If you are experienced with PHP and or any of the packages I mentioned, or know of and favor a better software to run a site like what we are trying to do with cA, please speak now or forever hold your pee!

Posted 15 years agoStill haven't got Dolphin set up yet, and I think I like the idea cause that means I can focus a little tomorrow at looking over some other site software packages. I'm really hoping to find something that is more like a cross between art site and social networking site and easy to make look like FA, out of the box, more than the work it seems it would take to make Dolphin look right. Still may end up doin Dolphin, but I'm gonna shop around tomorrow before we go live with anything.
I'm very excited about the resounding positive responses I've been getting from people about wanting to take part in being members on the site and participate on working side by side with me managing on the Admin team.
I spoke at some length with one of my most positive and enthusiastic leads today and boy am I excited about having him on my staff. We got a little bit more talking to do, but I think by tomorrow or Monday I will be officially naming him as my first staff member, and I think everyone is going to be as pleasantly amazed and excited as I am... or at least they better be. LOL.
I'm hoping to discuss things with a few more people who have responded to me sounding excited about being staff to. If you are them or someone who has yet to express interest in helping with the site at a administrative level please Please take some initiative and set aside a nice chunk of time and send me a shout out on gtalk or MSN so I can feel ya out and figure out a place for you on the team.

I mean it, butt right in and state your enthusiasm to me, otherwise you have to understand I'm trying to keep up with all the private notes and emails I'm getting and tend to technical matters concerning getting a physical site up and running.
I love hearing that you want to have a part in making this happen, I really do, but if you're someone who I'm gonna have on my team, I need some more dynamic communication other than pm's and emails. So I can discuss things with you in real time and gage your response and feelings.
---
Before I go I would like to ask that suggestions and concerns be sent to me in PM or email, or better yet discussed in chat. I have no problems hashing out details and answering question, or even a good healthy debate, and there will be a special place for those things when we get the site up and running, but for now extended discussions don't really fair well muddling up status reports and what we are limited to here.
On the other paw, if 3 of you and or just my to be announced first staff member says so, I'll open a journal or two especially for the purpose of airing concerns or mentioning suggestions, sort of like a mini forum to last us till we can get those things going on the site.
Thanks so much for your understanding concerning this.

Just to let you know, I'm all for IB, so long as they can stay up and running. There are some concerns as far as staff being pretty much the same bunch that runs in Dragoneers circles and then the whole thing that if there is really much to believe about Dragoneers reasons for not being able to host adult themed cub art or seemingly any "controversial" art on FA anymore, when this great site was built on artistic tolerance and diversity, how IB will be able to do the same when they use the same system for handling donations that FA does. All those loosely founded concerns aside I like Ink Bunny, and think it has a place in the fandom and hope that it prospers and grows to be a rock for the foundation of the fandom, even past being an art hosting site.
I understand peoples concerns as far as there being a cacophony of sites available to utilize for the purposes one utilizes sites like FA for, and that its become somewhat of an undesirable pain under the tail to keep up with having a part to do with all of them. We do intend on offering our members a choice to use us as an all-in-one kind of site for them, but we are not trying to put push any other site into uselessness or obsolescence.
Much like, if done right in tight nit communities two grocery stores in close proximity to each other can actually compliment one another, this is what we would like to do with sites like FA, IB, CC, RUP, and the like.
Just because there are so many choices for sites does not mean that you need to have memberships on all of them. One should give each of them a peek and then afterwards decide which of those choices seems to be what would best serve what you're trying to do, pick one or two, or three, how many you think you can participate in fairly, and for that matter choose wisely the ones who seem founded and stable enough to be there for you for the run of things and stick with them. Don't overbear or burden yourself with spreading yourself too thin.
So to all those critters looking my way with a scrunched up face because there is one more up and coming furry community, please understand that its not my intent to muddle things up for you more than they already are, and when they ask "JEESH, WHY NOT INK BUNNY!?", please understand that I'm not even trying to put up a front of friendly competition but hopefully to offset burdens on them and supplement them later on, this even applies to FurAffinity.
FA is very right or mostly right for some people and for that I applaud them and encourage people to stick with it, but in all logic it cant be a coverall solution for everyone, period. To some regard I think a lot of the people who were upset over recent policy changes that have been a long time in the works on FA, are unfounded in their feelings simply because they expected so much of FA to appease their every whim and want, and to that regard they are being unfair to FA. This will hold true to IB and even my site cA, but I feel our attempts at cA will be to cover a more full service kind of site than what IB and FA are, then again only for the broader scope of a small part of the fandom. Say for instance you're a bigger macrofur than you are cub fur, we'll offer content and such for you to enjoy and even resources in hopes to enrich that part of you, but we're not about to disregard how refined already existing communities like Bigfurs are, and we are not going to try to out do them in any way, and we wouldn't be afraid to point you in their direction.
So ya know, if we were face to face and you asked me "Why not Ink Bunny?", I'd honestly probably just smile and shrug softly and say something like, "I don't know, why not Ink Bunny?"
Please, check them out, and stick around and give us a good look over when we have something for you to chew on other than big walls of text. I know we'll be good for a large enough group of people to make it worth it for them, and I would be more than pleased to supplement everyone else's enjoyment and involvement in the fandom.
So... Rah Rah Rah to Ink Bunny...
GO Fur Affinity...
and...
We're rootin for ya cub Affinity!!!
I mean we are all sort of in the same boat together, why not make use of each others gifts, skills, and resources be friends, work together, frolic, and have lots of fun?

Site Status - Update - 1
Posted 15 years agoMore details to come but in summery as for todays efforts it looks like 3 solid leads for team / staff members. Duties and responsibilities are still in the works. All responses were enthusiastic or the least of which was interest and curiosity.
I do apologize for the lack of anything but a wall of text that gives a fairly abstract and almost vague idea of what this site is supposed to be, especially in comparison to FA and any other furry and / or cub site.
I assure you though that this is being worked on this weekend as we will be installing and setting up the site on Dolphin, if you have any experience with PHP or Dolphin in specific, or know someone that does and would be willing to take part it the project please notify me in PM. We are hoping to have a fairly well working and stable starter site on or before next weekend.
If you just came across this and feel like you can contribute and you would enjoy doing so, please contact me in PM or email or IM me.

Thanks to everyone today that really got me excited about getting this started and I very much look forward to working together with some passionate furs and making a real nice site for our little niche in the fandom.
