For those unaware, the original dropbox link stopped working after a while because of too many downloads. It turns out I underestimated how many would be interested in giving the demo a try. My apologies to everyone for that.

And I wanted to say a big thank you to all those who did play it and left comments. I do want to get to replying to as many as I can when I have the time. But for now, thank you for your thoughts on the game!

For those of you unaware, today is my birthday. I am now 44 years old. And for some reason, it seems to be the first birthday in a long time that has not left me depressed, which is a very welcome suprised.

Anyway, I have decided to something a little different with this day. Many of you are probably not aware, but I am a player of the online game Final Fantasy XIV, it's a game I really love. So, today I am just going to chill out and play it, but with the added twist of streaming it, so that anyone interested can stop by to chat oir watch me play.

I have never streamed myself playing a game before, so it will be a new experience, and could possibly turn out to be a disaster, but we'll see. But be warned, I don't actually have a microphone, so you won't be hearing me speak. I'll do my best to keep up to date with chat and respond to people as best I can. Also, I will be starting a new character for this, so there shouldn't be any spoilers for the later parts of the game.

In my previous journal, I mentioned that I had been dealing with some stuff last week. So, I'm writing this journal, both to get what happened out of my head and written down, which I think might be good for me, and for the benefit of those who don't follow my twitter and don't know, or had questions that this might answer. Here's all the grisly details...

It started just over a week ago now, on Saturday the 21st. I suppose technically it started the evening before, when I began getting unusually short of breath doing simple everyday things. But at the time, I thought it was just my asthma acting up a little.

However, it was the Saturday morning when shit hit the fan. I got up that morning and the shortness of breath was still there, but with a new wrinkle: I started coughing up blood. Which was immediately extremely worrying. I called an NHS helpline and made an immediate emergency appointment to see a doctor.

I headed out, expecting to be gone for a few hours, just to my appointment and back again. It would actually be a while before I would go home again.

On the way to my appointment, I took a turn for the worse. I hadn't got very far from home before my shortness of breath became very bad and turned into severe breathing difficulties. I was gasping for breath and a little afraid I might pass out in the street. So, I stopped where I was and called myself an ambulance.

They arrived quickly and put me on oxygen and started doing some basic tests, before taking me to hospital. I would end up being in hospital for about five days or so.

Once in hospital, there were blood tests, a chest x-ray and eventually a CT scan. It all led to the discovery of what was wrong: a pulmonary embolism. Which basically means blood clots in the lungs. In my case, there were two clots, one in each lung, located in the main arteries.

And yes, it is as serious as it sounds. At one point, a doctor did tell me that if I hadn't got medical attention as quick as I did, it could have been fatal. This thing could have fucking killed me. That is a scary thought that I've been trying not to think about too much.

Because the important thing is, I did get the medical attention I needed. I was kept on oxygen for days and started on the necessary medication for the clots, as well as a course of antibiotics. They took blood daily to run various tests to see how I was progressing. At one point, they did a scan of my heart to ensure no damage had been done by the clots (there was none, my heart is fine).

What might have caused the embolism remains a bit of a mystery. After all the numerous tests and being asked an enormous number of questions about my life, the doctors didn't seem to know how this happened.

Anyway, after just over five days, I was well enough to be allowed to go home. Which felt fantastically good, to be able to finally leave the hospital and relax at home. Since then, I have been taking things easy, continuing to improve, trying to just rest and recover and rebuild my strength.

I'm still on the medication, twice daily injections, and will be for at least three months, probably longer, so that's something I've been getting used to. But at least I don't have to worry about work for a bit, I've been signed off work for the next several weeks while I recover.

So that's what happened. It was a hell of a week, the events of which are probably going to continue to have an impact on my life for some time to come.

But rest assured, I am fine now, there's no reason to worry. I'm doing well and recovering nicely.

I'm a little late to this news, kind of been dealing with some stuff this past week (which I might talk about in another journal), but the artist MuscleWolf passed away.

He was one of the first furry artists who's work I was attracted to back when I first joined the fandom many, many years ago, the first artist I saw who drew wonderful muscular furry characters. Thinking about it now, its fair to say his work played a big part in cementing my interest in furries and my desire to be a part of this fandom.

And when I started drawing furries myself, his work was a huge influence. I tend to draw mostly muscular characters, and MuscleWolf's art is a large part of why that is, he always made muscle furs look so damn good and it made quite an impact on me.

At one point, he even gave me permission to try colouring one of his pics. I believe at the time I thought trying to colour another artists work would be an interesting experience and help develop my colouring skills. Whatever my reason at the time, he was kind enough to let me do it. My contact with him back then was pretty brief, consisting of a few emails back and forth, but I remember he was so kind, both encouraging and supportive towards me.

The passing of MusleWolf is a huge loss to the furry fandom.

It’s been a while since I posted a journal here, or anything else, so maybe it’s time to change that, let you all know what’s been happening with me.

Anyone who follows me on twitter or is on my Patreon will already know this, but basically at the end of March, things took a tragic turn in my life, leading to April and May probably being among the worst few months I’ve ever been through, and me struggling to get back to normal ever since.

It started at the very end of March when my mother suddenly passed away. It was a huge shock to say the least and really messed me up. The few months after in particular were very difficult, dealing with the pain and grief and trying to come to terms with things.

Making those few months even more difficult were illness and injury. During this time, I suffered a bout of flu, luckily it wasn’t covid, just regular flu. Then a few weeks after that I somehow injured my legs and knees, and it became painful for me to stand up at all. It took weeks to recover from that.

So, for a few months there, my life just seemed to be an endless succession of grief, misery, depression and lots of pain, both emotional and physical. June, July and now August have been spent mostly trying to get back to something approaching normality, and not always successfully. There have still been bad times, still dealing with the loss, life still throwing new problems and difficulties at me that I won’t go into here. All in all, this is turning into a really horrible year for me.

But I have still been working on art where I can and posting to my Patreon, even if the process has been a lot slower in recent months. I want to try and get back to posting the stuff that isn’t Patreon exclusive here, so look for some new stuff soon.

So that’s how life has been treating me this year, for those of you who might have been wondering what happened to me. Hopefully things will get better, but right now I’m not exactly optimistic about that possibility.

I recently posted a 3 page comic called ‘Mind Warped’ and after looking through some of the comments I received, I just wanted to clarify a few things.

I’m sorry to disappoint people, but the comic does NOT represent me making a move into 3D artwork. As I explained in the description for the first page, it was made using screenshots of a video game. I simply do not have the skills to create 3D models and art.

For those interested, the game in question is the superhero MMORPG ‘Champions Online’. And in response to some of the other comments I got, yes, the game is still going!

The characters in the comic were created using the game’s character creator. One of them was actually created many years ago. I then stood them in front of a suitable background, and used the game’s emotes system to get them into appropriate poses, sometimes having to quickly grab a screenshot mid-animation to get the pose I wanted. For the panels with both characters together, I had to cut one of them out of one screenshot and paste him into another. I also did some editing in Clip Studio Paint to try and make the characters expressions more appropriate (the game’s character models aren’t exactly very expressive) and to add some glowing eyes and hands.

And that’s all there was to it. The comic was a bit of an experiment to see if I could do it, after having had the idea for it while recently getting back into playing the game. If you’re expecting to see me producing 3D art in future, then I’m sorry, but you’re going to be disappointed. I just don’t have the skills for that, and I’ve no plans to learn. I already have many other things on my plate to spend my time on.

However, it is possible I might create more screenshot comics like this in future, if I manage to come up with something I want to do, that I think I can pull off within the restrictions of a comic like this. But that will be the extent of any ‘3D art’ from my for the foreseeable future.

Well, Hypno Bear Week, run by  talisment is upon as once again!

And once again, I am running behind on the stuff I want to produce for it. Despite this year planning and starting on stuff earlier than normal. But my life has been plagued by problems and distractions recently that have got in the way or made it difficult to work on stuff.

But anyway, there will still be writing and art from being posted throughout the week, and possibly a comic if I can get enough of it finished. I hope you will all like what I have to post this year.

So, I have noticed that I seem to have passed a couple of milestones here on FA without noticing.

At some point recently, I passed 5000 watchers, which is pretty cool. And I just wanted to say hi to all my new watchers, I'm glad you like my stuff enough to give me a watch and I hope you continue to enjoy the writing and art I post in future.

Also, it seems that my most recent submission brought my total number of submissions here on FA to an even 1000. If I'd noticed I was closing in on that milestone, I might have done some kind of special pic to be my 1000th submission. But that's a missed opportunity now. Oh well...

Well, today is my birthday. I've hit the age of 41.

Another year closer to the grave. Another year of loneliness and misery. Spending the day alone and feeling hopeless, in a seriously bad mood.

Just want to give you all a heads up that I have made a few changes to my Patreon.

First off is that I am setting myself a basic schedule. I am going to aim to produce one new comics page per week from on of my comics projects. I am also going to try and do at least two new pics per month. My hope is that having goals and deadlines to aim for will help keep me motivated. We’ll see how well this new schedule works out.

The other Patreon change is the introduction of a ‘Request Raffle’. Basically, paying patrons will be entered into a raffle twice a month, the winner of which will be able to request a simple pic from me. The full rules for the raffle can be found on my patreon page.

These changes are in addition to the existing benefits of being able to see my art, writing and comics early. The purpose of my Patreon is two-fold. For one, it’s going to give people another way to support me and my work if they want to, and in return will get early access to stuff before it’s posted here. The first two tiers are for intended for this purpose, one for writing and art, and the other for comics pages.

The other reason for my Patreon is to provide a new home for my two old previously published comic series, the non-adult superhero series ‘Furry Guardians’ and the adult and kinky series ‘The House of Lazarus’. Yes, after much consideration and many questions from people over the years, I have finally decided what to do with them.

The plan is that the two series will be Patreon exclusives with the third tier. They will not be posted anywhere else. My intention is to redrawn the existing issues and post the new pages there as I produce them. I will also be gradually posting the original pages there as a bonus. And once I have redrawn the issues, I will be moving on to producing new ones.

As usual I plan on contributing to the event, but exactly how much remains to be seen. I have plenty of ideas, hopefully some are interesting and and/or surprising, but we’ll have to see how much I get around to doing.

I have a few stories I had intended to write for last year’s event that I didn’t get finished in time, as well as a simple 6 page comic that I was close to finishing but didn’t. So, I should at least have those done. And I already have some new short stories written for some more hypno bears editions of ‘Mind Control Tales’, so there will definitely be that as well.

I am toying with the idea of a hypno bear related ‘Your Character Here’ auction. Possibly two, as I have two ideas I could do. The plan would be to run the auctions in the week or two before the week, and then finish and post the pics during Hypno Bear week itself.

There isn’t going to be a ‘Working Bears 3’ just yet, in case anyone was wondering. The ideas for it haven’t quite come together enough for me to write it yet. Maybe next year. However, I do have an idea for some Working Bears related stuff I can maybe do this year. We’ll see how it goes.

I’m hoping plenty of other writers and artists contribute to the event and I’m looking forward to seeing what they come up with…

Well, today was my birthday. I am now 40 years old. And the day was even worse than I had been expecting.

It has been a day of feeling old and broken and miserable, a hopeless and useless unloveable waste of space. And on top of that, I've been feeling ill. So I got to spend my birthday feeling sick and depressed. Just my fucking luck.

But thank you to those of you who wished me a happy birthday, I do appreciate it.

Well, here we are, now in September, this year really seems to be going by so quickly.

Anyway, what September mainly means for me is my birthday at the end of the month on the 27th. And this year, I’ll be reaching the age of 40. Yes, I really am that ancient.

I’m not sure how much hitting this particular milestone is going to affect me. I mean, I tend to get somewhat down on my birthday as it is, but to be hitting 40 and still be single and lonely… Well, suffice to say I’m not exactly looking forward to it. I’m currently doing my best to not think about it too much, with varying degrees of success.

Beyond that, I’m hoping that I can continue to be productive this month. Summer was a bad time for me for various reasons, but I seem to be doing better now. I’d like to get much more writing and artwork done this month than I have over the summer as well as finish off some commissions so that I can maybe take on some more.

It’s just a matter of seeing how much I can manage and how badly my approaching birthday screws me up…

I've just been wondering.

If I were to start doing the occassional 'Your Character Here' auctions, would anyone be interested? If so, what kind of thing would you like to see, in terms of themes or situations, etc?

I should stress, that I currently have no plans to do any YCH auctions. But it is something I do consider now and again, so I was just curious. Maybe I will in future.

At this point, I’m not sure exactly how much I’m going to contribute. I haven’t been able to do a whole lot of creative stuff this year so far due to battling regular bouts of loneliness and depression. I seem to be doing better now, but it is still proving challenging getting back into the swing of things. On top of that its looking like I’m going to be moving to a new flat in the next month, so I have a lot of preparations for that to distract me.

One thing I can say for certain is that if anyone is expecting more ‘Working Bears’, then I’m sorry, but you’re going to be disappointed. Ideas for further stories for the series haven’t really come together yet. Besides, after doing ‘Working Bears’ stuff for the past few Hypno Bear Weeks, I feel perhaps doing something different would be better.

I do have plenty of ideas for stuff I’d like to do. My main idea was to do a series of brand new short stories, and try to make each one different. So, there’s a sci-fi one, a fantasy one, a superhero one, etc. I have started several of them, but it remains to be seen how many I manage to finish in time. I might very well do some more Hypno Bears editions of ‘Mind Control Tales’, but I definitely will not be doing one per day as I did last year.

Beyond that, I already have a number of unfinished sketches and pics from last year that I can try and complete, perhaps in some livestreams.

So yeah, I don’t what or how much I’ll have for Hypno Bear Week this year. I will definitely have some things to post, but not as much as in previous years. We’ll just have to see how things go.

Well, I have now decided that I definitely will NOT be using that and will be doing nothing more with that design. I really had just intended to make my fursona a little more like the real me. But a lot of the comments it has received have really hammered it home that this is apparently a 'daddy' kind of a look, which was definitely not what I had intended.

The thing is, I am NOT a 'daddy'. I personally have no interest in being one or being thought of as one. Nothing against them, it's just not who I am. And the thought that this fursona design will lead to people jumping to the conclusion that I am some kind of 'daddy' is just very off-putting. Having to correct people who make that assumption will get annoying and old very fast.

So, that design has VERY quickly become quite unappealing to me, so I will not be using it or doing anything further with it. Apologies to those who liked it, but you will not be seeing it again.

Well, we’re now more than half way through January, so its probably past time for some kind of journal post about the new year. Better late than never, eh?
