AC Day 3: The Wrap
General | Posted 10 years agoHave I said yet how AWESOME everyone at AC was? You all rock! AC is over now and let's do a recap (Full disclosure, I already wrote this journal, COMPLETELY, once. But one of
Midnightdraven's cats totally walked across the keyboard before I could hit "Create" and hit exactly the keys necessary to delete everything I wrote.).
So, we spent the last day posted up again in Artist Alley. I was working like a madman trying to complete commissions. And I have to say that to you guys who I didn't have pieces for, it was just as, if not more heartbreaking for me. I just have to say, REAL quick -- I flew to AC from Germany. The flight alone meant I wasn't making any sort of monetary profit on this trip. But I knew that, because I'm one of those legit doin' it for the art sorts. The profit was exposure and just DOING art. So what I can assure you of, is that I'm not gonna be the dude that takes yer monies and you never hear from. PLUS, all of you guys I already spoke to about it, were super understanding about it, anyway. THANK you.
Anyway, met even MORE awesome people who happened upon my table. Happened upon and were REFERRED to (Again, THANK you!). Made new colleagues and potential friends and even got myself a bit of a commission queue. It feels really good to FEEL like a WORKING artist. After I'm done with this journal, I'll be gettin' busy! I was SO flattered by those who had me draw in their sketch books. Wow, that's like really a thing?! And the company you had me share pages with. Strype, Kae, etc! What a huge HUGE compliment. I was asked by many people, especially after telling them that it was my first year, if I would be coming back again and again. I think I can assure you all, that yes, I will be back.
After the alley cashout, we made one final rush through the Dealer's Hall. I wanted to collect up some business cards. Especially form this custom leatherworker. I own a kilt and have been in the market for a really cool Sporran. It will be like, a COMPLETE custom job, but I'd love it if she were up to it, and look forward to dropping her a line about it.
Then we went to that bar and grill on the corner... Ten Pennies or something? The service left something huge to be desired. Although, by the end of it, we kinda' gathered that roughly 85% of the blame could have been placed on the Hosting staff. Both of those girls seemed pretty new at it, and/or not communicating with each other, so stuff was getting missed. But the food? Awesome. We all got the signature burger, and those fries? Forget about it. They were perfect. AND, our server got herself some points with me, as they are forced to pour beer into smaller glasses. So for the next round, I ordered two and she brought them together. So would I go back? Yes.
We hugged and said our goodbyes and headed back to
Midnightdravens. We were all spent from a day of mostly sitting (hah), so didn't last long after unpacking. I spread out the business cards I had collected to make sure I Watched them before falling asleep. Plus, it was a means of trying to stay AWAKE til my wife woke up back in Germany to Skype. I fell asleep, BUT, here are a few artists that I think you all should show some love to:
Talenshi Love love LOVE her art. Period. So glad I found her work.
lemures Super friendly! Beautifully unique style. I see big things in the future. Go check it out.
fign01 He's a very cool guy. He brought flip books of his animation for his table. Fun artwork!
rudethefox Here's the perfect example of how BIG FA really is. There's a good chance you guys are already watching this gallery. However, for me personally, it wasn't until the day we were relative neighbors in the Artist Alley and I overheard our common-monster-related-interests that I was like 'I gotta see what kinda' art is over there.' I expected nothing less. Beautiful work. If you're not watching this gallery already, you should be.
And that's about it. If you really care about my opinion: if you're a furry, if you like furries, if you're CURIOUS about furries, and wonder if you should check out an Anthrocon? The answer is yes. Yes yes YES.
PS
Slushpuppy SO cool to meet you in person too! It was a pleasant surprise that you guys made the trip down!

General | Posted 10 years agoOh Em Geeee! I am feelin' the furry love. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to even just look at my work. And I love all of my new watchers and commissioners. You guys are the greatest! I hope to keep you guys comin' back for more arty-goodness.
Artist Alley started at 10 rather than noon today. Allowing more time to meet new friends, network, and have some amusing conversations. I tells ya, the furries are just too nice. You all rock!
For dinner we walked a ways off the strip... or somethin' like that. 'Bout 10 blocks, either way. We went to this place, the BEST Thai food I've ever had. Pumpkin Duck Curry. Yeah. I know.
Came back to the room, and watched Kung Fury again to fight off the food coma, and now I'm gonna bury my nose to my clipboard and get some work done!
Wish I could write more, but I've gotta' get busyyyy!

AC Day 1
General | Posted 10 years agoWow, what a crowd. Had a great first day at AC. Met some really cool people. Had some fun conversations. Just in general, everyone is SO nice.
Yesterday we picked up our pre-reg badge dealies, then called it day. Today, spent most of the day in Artist Alley with
Midnightdraven AND
Slushpuppy . Lookin' forward to being surrounded by two of my favorite ladies tomorrow!
After the Alley closed and we cashed out (THANK you for all my new Custofriends (Customers+Friends)), we caught 2's Standup spot. He's pretty funny. Now, we're back at the room, MJ and I have a sketch battle to duel in for one commissioner. But we'll probably tackle that after our Chinesefood gets here.
If you guys are at AC, come find me tomorrow in Artist Alley! Don't be shy. Come say hi!

AnthroCon Meme 2015
General | Posted 10 years agoWOW it's JUST around the corner! How 'bout that!?
*****
Where are you staying?
Double Tree
What day are you getting there?
Thursday
How are you traveling?
WELL, I will be flying in from Frankfurt. Then driving to the con.
Who will you be rooming with?
The fine, fine and lovely people:
MidnightDraven
Zombie_Ben
exturkconner
How is the best way to find you?
Get in touch with
MidnightDraven OR send me a note on FA as wifi will allow. I plan to spend the bulk of my time in Artist Alley. However, if there's beer around, a Daddyfox can't be far.
Are there any panels you might be attending?
I don't knooooow. What would you recommend?
What do you look like?
Long-haired and beared (also long). Glasses.
Will you be suiting?
No, but I will be hanging around people in costume. A kittyhorse and zombie, at least.
Do you do free art?
Doubtful. Highly doubtful. And that's mostly because anything I make on commissions at the con will be going toward countering the plain ticket costs. Trades wouldn't be out of the question however.
Do you do trades?
Ah, here we are. Yeah, I'm open to it. No promises though, of course.
Do you do badges?
Yes. In fact I'd like to take some pre-orders VERY soon. (July is just creepin' up SO fast!)
What is your gender?
Male
How tall are you?
5'10" (where are these questions going?)
Can I talk to you?
But of course. More than money, I'm looking to make connections and friendships.
Can I touch you?
Don't make it weird, dude. I am a sucker for high-fives, though. I'll throw that out there.
Can I visit your room?
Anyone with a key or beer may enter the room I am staying in. And when I say beer, let's be clear that any of the big three don't even register to me as such.
Can I buy you drinks?
Yes. Yes you can.
Can I give you stuff?
Depends. Let's say "yes?"
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
I'm not gonna' lie, alcohol being a factor, my preference to high-fives does venture into the realm of hugs. However, rule of thumb, let's go with "no." On both counts.
Are you nice?
Super-duper nice! The NICEST!
How long are you going?
Whole weekend.
Do you have an artist table?
Nope just random Artist Alley. Testing the waters. In the years to follow.... we'll seeeeee.
Will you be going to parties?
We'll see?
Will you be performing?
Outside of drawing? Doubtful. But what else is there? I've been itching to karaoke for a while now.
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
However you'd like... within reason AND the restraints of the law.
Where will you be most of the time during the day/s?
Artist Alley or finding beer.
What/where will you be eating?
beer. ...I mean. Uhhh, I don't know. I like Indian food. I'm NOT a picky eater though. So whatever... ..... ...beer.
Can I come with you for food/fun/etc?
Yeah, I reckon. I AM just delightful. I can see why you're so eager to try and hang out with me. I'll be honest though, that question about my height back there -- a little weird. But otherwise, I can dig it.
Can I take your picture?
Sure.
What's your goal(s) for the con this year?
Meet up with and make friends. Strengthening and creating friendships that will last a lifetime!
And making money, that, let's be honest, will be spent that night on beer.
Oh yeah. So PS, when/if you approach me, kindly assume I have a hangover?

I'm Not Leaving
General | Posted 10 years agoBeen here over 10 years. Good for FA to get some funding. IF it turns into a non-porn site, I'll just make my gallery what it was up until a few years ago. No biggy.
There are a handful of other sites that still allow pornographic art, and I'll still draw naughtiness for monies. Sites changing ownership can't stop that. Moreover, I'm skeptical that this site would even put such a ban out there. That's what, at LEAST half the art hosted here?
Anyway, I think anyone who's talking about leaving before anything has even changed is kinda' jumping to conclusions and over-reacting. Just throwing that out there. ESPECIALLY if you just look at the Q&A already supplied by the staff: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/6592316
In other news, how 'bout this snow, huh?

General | Posted 10 years agoApparently there's a Facebook thing for furries.
https://www.furgather.com
Feel free to add me if you sign up or have an account already: https://www.furgather.com/Daddyfox I'm all about the networking. AND making new friends, of course. I mean, full disclosure, I don't know exactly how much I'll use it, since I've got this page here, and FB already. But, what the heck; I'll give it a go.

Would You Ever...?
General | Posted 10 years agoCommission me for a Con Badge?
Alternative titled for this journal was going to be "Con Badge Pre-PRE-Order Feelers."
Aaaanyway, I'll be going to AC this Summer, and I'm looking at doing Con Badge Commissions. I know there're those of you who like to pre-order them, and thus, have them guaranteed to be yours, come that weekend. I also know, it's not unheard of to get them done at the con itself. Either way, I'm getting a pretty respectable copic marker set, and plenty of India Ink pens. So, I'm thinkin' to help chip away at that upcoming flight cost, I might take some pre-orders. Y'know... soonish.
Basically, lookin' for questions, comments, concerns... interest, maybe?
***
Also, don't forget about my current sale: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/15927882/
And as per usual, open for normal commission stuff too: http://www.furaffinity.net/commissi.....ddyfox/manage/

General | Posted 11 years agoI'm open for Commission?
First off, let's get some shout outs:
MidnightDraven One of my oldest "online" friends. We've known each other for easily over a decade, and I don't know that I've had anyone be more supportive in keeping me going, posting my art here on FA, or anywhere really. Just a good person, who would bend over backwards for any of her friends. And I'm lucky to count her among mine.
NachT Another of my fellow Original FA'ers. We've been on this site together for its launches, shut-downs, re-launches, attacks, ups and down-agains. Another really cool guy, and has been an appreciated long-time supporter.
Sugarsweet What's in a name? How sweet this girl is. That's what. In the short time we've been friends, I can't decide what she journals about more, her own happenings, or MY artings. She's a great person, who I'm lucky to call my friend.
Hartless This guy is a solid dude. I'd share a beer with him any day. A kick to chat with, and I'm so glad I know him.
Why am I being a big softy right now? I know for a fact these guys have gone out of their ways to help promote my art when I'm open for commissions, doing Auctions, or just because they want to get my name more exposure. They didn't have to; I didn't ask them to (I mean, specifically), and yet, they did it. They continue to pimp me to their network of friends and customers, and I literally wouldn't be here on FA still if it wasn't for them, and at least a few others. They are proof that word of mouth works, guys. So, keep it up. Let's keep FA a community, as well as a meat market. AND, go show those guys I named above some love.
...
Anyway, going back to being open for commissions. Yeah, I'm open, and as many of my previous customers can attest, I give great deals on bulk art. I always give discounts based on multiple pieces: The more you buy, the more you save. And car accidents, Holidays and health, not withstanding, I like to think I'm relatively good at turn-arounds!
And spoiler-alert: I will be attending this years' Anthro-Con. So, I'm putting all commission monies I collect into that international flight ticket. It's not cheap. So, I'm really looking to be pimped for my arting goodness!

Digimon Masters Online
General | Posted 11 years agoAnyone playing this? I get the urge... once a year or so to play? I stop soon enough, because, as with any mmo, it's just not as much fun to play alone. Not impossible, if you like Digimon enough, which I kinda' do, I s'pose you could say.
Just curious. If you're interested, it's about as simple as mmo's go. As a game, I'm not gonna' lie, it's pretty barebones, whatever. But again, if you like Digimon, it's a fun little fix. "Ooh, I found a (insert your favorite digimon here). Now we can pal around and fight other digimon together!" Y'know, if you can successfully hatch it. THAT can be a pain in the ass. But, y'know, it's whatevs.
If you're still reading, I'm on the Leviamon server.

"Ooh, I found a (insert your favorite digimon here). Now we can pal around and fight other digimon together!" Y'know, if you can successfully hatch it. THAT can be a pain in the ass. But, y'know, it's whatevs.

My God! There's Blood Everywhere!

Seems legit.

General | Posted 11 years agoFeelin' under the weather these past few days or so. Won't go into detail.
Just wanted to apologize to those awaiting art from me. I'm on it. It's all I can do to get out of bed, presently, though. So, it'll be a weeeeee bit slow coming.

Tera Rising
General | Posted 11 years agoAnyone play this? Is it good? It looks good, y'know, speaking purely visually. And even with the massive DL, gotta' love the F2P games. I've been in the mood to hit up an MMO, but just CAN'T go back to WoW (Especially after looking at the racial changes... err I mean, racist changes).
Anyway, yay? nay?

Secret Santa
General | Posted 11 years agoThe idea occurred to me, that this year I might trying to host a Secret Santa or the like. And wouldn't you know it, someone already got the ball rolling. One o' those few times, I will eagerly jump on the ol' bandwagon. Join me, won't you?
Entering
secretsanta2k14's Secret Santa:
Dear Secret Santa,
This year for the holidays, I want you to draw...
1. Name: Daddyfox
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/14350406/
http://misterferv.deviantart.com/ar.....2013-422007268
Personality: Quiet, Stoic, Gentle, a protector at heart, and often playful with fellow friendly creatures.
Notes about your character: He's big, roughly 10' tall. He has an intricate tribal along his upper body of a Thunderbird, but please don't sweat getting the details spot on. The most important feature would be the mark on his forehead, which glows like his eyes (Best pictured in the second reference link)
Ideas you can suggest: I love seeing other artist interps of the big guy. So, have fun with him. I've even had a friend or two draw him as a chibi. Free license to play with him.
Or
2. Name: Fervayo
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/14339230/
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/14171917/
Personality: A fierce, imposing hunter, but a big teddy bear.
Notes about the character: Lumbering, bear-like, just a mountain of muscle, fur and horns. His hair is almost always flowing, like he has a constant wind machine on him. In reference to his paws, think "bear" when you tackle them.
Ideas you can suggest: Think cuddle-bug. Feel free to draw him being a chair, or blanket or whatever for one of your characters, if you're so inclined.
Or
3. Name(s): Queen V and/or Miss Wicked
Queen V (All references are Black and White, but her colours are the same as Daddyfox)
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2122575/
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2256438/
Miss Wicked
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/14611039/
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/14171929/
Personality: These are literally the female versions of the two males Daddyfox and Fervayo. The only difference is Miss Wicked has a bit more of a naughty streak in her than her male counterpart.
Notes about the characters: Both females are pretty beasties of a more normal size - 6'ish tall. In terms of colour, the most important aspect would have to be, that both girls' white-of-their-eyes are black. And their irises are luminescent. QV has green, and MW has yellow.
Ideas you can suggest: Totally up to you. Draw one, draw both. Draw one with their male counterpart. Dealers choice. I include them, as I know some of you out there prefer drawing females over males. And while all of my Superbeasts are typically naked, these ladies, at least, have body types more suited for clothing, if you prefer non-nudes.
Thank you for being my Secret Santa!
Love
Daddyfox
P.S.
I will draw... anything, as these are SFW gifts. I do anthros, monsters, human(oid)s, robots, dragons, etc.
I will NOT draw... anything TOO cutesy -- MLP, Mobians, and the like. More because I rarely pull off "cute." I find the cuter I try and make something, the creepier it comes across. SO, if you want your cute character looking a bit... wicked... then sure. I'll give it a go.

Do I the secret santa host have the permission to repost your
drawing to the
SecretSanta2k14 account?
Of course, with credit given, where due. But I reckon that goes without saying, yeah?
Would you rather Draw or Write? Draw.
And in case you missed it, Ask me anything:http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/6225062/
Commissions are open, especially as we get closer and closer to the Holiday Season: http://www.furaffinity.net/commissions/daddyfox/

Ask Me Anything!
General | Posted 11 years agoSeen a few of these floating around. Haven't done anything Meme-y in while.
So, pretty simple, ask me anything and I'll answer it. For those of you that chat with me off-site, you know I'm a pretty open book anyway.
And as a bonus question for all of you: What's everyone doing for Halloween?

Hey, thanks.
General | Posted 11 years agoThese days, most people seem to not want to have people shout on their walls "Thanks for the watch" and so on. Honestly, I get it. It always felt a little tacky to me anyway. I mean, to each their own, and all. But I'm just as happy not to do it. THAT said, to be clear, I DO appreciate the +Favs and the new Watchers. You guys are awesome, and a definite motivation boost. I'd especially like to give a special thanks to
Sugarsweet . I think she gets me more watchers than my actual art does. She's a real peach, and I appreciate her pimping my page, auctions, and being just a true, blue friend.
Oh, speaking of auctions, this one ends in like... a few hours? http://www.furaffinity.net/view/14797689/
Aaanyway, hope everyone had a great weekend. And thank you again, to all the new watchers.
