On commissions and my future as a furry artist.
Posted 9 years agoInitially I was going to wait to begin commissions sometime in mid-February, but this morning I had some bad news from my best friend. To make a long story short, he had a house fire due to an accident with a space heater. I have money to help him, but I would like to do more for him. The best way I can imagine making money is by putting work in as an artist.
I feel like I have improved a lot in the last couple years, and I think I have gotten good enough and quick enough with my art that there is a real possibility of me offering commissions that will make people happy! The cash motivation, as well as requests to draw a wider variety of characters and situations can only help me continue to grow as an artist.
I am not certain about pricing, but I know that I want to price based on how valuable I feel my time is, and the demand for my art. So if I set my price and people buy it, that is what I am going to stick with. If I can’t sell anything, I will lower it until I don’t feel that it is a valuable use of my time to charge that low.
Either way, If you have ever wanted a commission for me, this month and the next month will be the beginning of my time as an artist who does things for money. Keep an eye on me!
