Posted a year agoSo... my birthday happened on 12th and I'm officially in my 30s. Man, I can't believe I've been around for that long, and in internet years that's EVEN LONGER. But I'm pretty happy about where I am in life so... here's to another three decades!

New 2022 Update!
Posted 4 years agoHey, I hadn't done something with this place in a while! So I'm going to post some updates since they ARE pretty important!
1. My Discord account got hacked near the end of 2021, so I've been trying to get it back. Because of that I lost the ability to change up my own server, so I made a back-up server. If anyone is interested about this, note me, and I will add you on Discord.
2. I have a lot of commissions to work on, and I do thank everyone who asked for a commish! I've closed commissions until I get through the ones I have done. Now, if I owe you a commission or if it slipped my mind, note me here or on Discord.
3. My Patreon is still going! I know it's a bit much to ask, but if you could and have the spare cash, I would appreciate any new patrons. This way I could work on art more often, since I currently have to work on a new job that takes a LOT out of my personal life, so the more patrons I have the easier it is for me to be able to work on something I prefer. Again, it's just something to consider. I appreciate all of my current patrons a LOT for their support, it really means a lot to me! Dan's Patreon

Posted 8 years ago1. Alright, this isn't the best way for me to open up 2018. I don't know how many of you have been wondering this but allow me to point it out. So, I haven't been posting much artwork at all this month. Is it because I'm busy? Well, yes I am, and I'll mention that reason later, though the main reason why I haven't been able to do anything is because my old laptop finally kicked the bucket. My old laptop hasn't been too healthy and just recently died from a fried motherboard. Yeah, that was just about the wort thing it could have happened to it. So, since the day I came back from vacation until about a week ago I had no way to draw anything. The worst part is that I was not able to recover all of my files from the old computer, which included just about everything I did from December-January. So everything from my To Do List, to the work files for the YCH I did, to the final 2017 weekly sketches, to the two drawings that I posted at the very beginning of the year? Gone forever. This may not sound like much to you all, but I'm not very happy about losing work that I spent a lot of hours of my life putting a lot of work into. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised, as that laptop was pushing to being six years old. Still, I wish I didn't lose those files forever. Now this isn't all bad news, as I have been able to get a new laptop, and managed to install all of my programs, as well as an upgraded and improved Sketchbook Pro. This means that I'll be able to do some much more dynamic and experimental things to my pieces- different widths to the linework, being able to make my own custom brushes- this did open up a new world of possibilities for me, so I'm happy that something good did come out of this. What will this mean for my productivity? I'm not quite sure as I do have one major obstacle standing in the way of the artwork that I can produce for you guys.
2. College. Yeah, I'm still in college, though that will hopefully not be the case for much longer. Why is that? Because this is my last quarter and, should everything go according to plan, I'll be graduating on March! That's right, my long and arduous journey on my quest to become a professional animator will be coming to an end in just a mere month and a half. That does mean that I'll be needing to work my ass off to make that dream a reality for the next eight weeks, so my output may still be pretty minimal. I'm saying this mainly for those of you that I still owe commissions to, I'm only asking for a bit more of your patience. I haven't forgotten and, if I did, that's what the Notes and Comments are for. Just remember to be civil about it- I've got a lot of heavy-duty work to do for these next couple of weeks, but once I'm free from all that, that will mean more time I can spend on working on projects for the rest of you all! So very soon I will no longer be just a "student" I'll be a real pro!
3. I've been trying to play a lot more video games lately, if that hasn't been apparent. I streamed Yooka-Laylee last month, and I've been trying to play more of that game on my own time. That's not all, I've also been playing through my old library of PS1 games including, of course, Crash Bandicoot. I don't have the N. Sane Trilogy, as I'm too broke to own a PS4, so I stuck with the original trilogy. My most proud achievement? I beat them all in the span of nine days. Yes, that includes the super-ultra-duper-tough Crash 1! I won't elaborate on them... at least not here. If you guys would like me to talk about my favorite game series, then maybe I will at a future date. But let me just say, those games do not get old... yes, even as dated as Crash 1 is, I honestly find the challenge to be pretty fair. Alright, mostly fair(Grrr, The High Road, Fumbling in the Dark, Slippery Climb). Now I'm sure you're all pretty familiar with how much I love the series, so that probably won't surprise you all too much. That's not the only trilogy I played during my holiday break, though.
4. I've gotten into Ace Attorney a LOT recently. I played the Phoenix Wright Trilogy on my 3DS and- yeah, I know I'm pretty late on that boat- they're awesome games. I absolutely love them- the cases are a lot of fun, they can vary from tense, to hilarious, to really, really sad, but they're pretty amazing. I'll just say, I'm definitely a fan now, and I'll be playing through the rest of the series when I can get the chance. So yes, I'll be playing through Apollo Justice pretty soon. Also, just to throw this out there, Maya is incredibly adorable, and they made her even cuter in the anime (yeah, I've been watching that as well- I think that's moved me from being "a fan" to "complete and total trash").
5. I am going to be writing a new fanfic pretty soon. Some of you may have already picked up on it, but that will be my "buffer project". One of them anyway, as a way to at least have some work done in the periods in which I can't draw anything. Fanfic for what? Oh, you'll see, hehehe...
6. Timeless. Because of those damn computer issues I haven't been able to capitalize on my own series as much as I would have liked. However, that doesn't mean that I can't do that now- new year, new opportunities, or something like that. Not only that but my NEW challenge for the year will actually involve Timeless! What will it be? You'll find out when the first part of that project gets exposed to you all. I'm pretty sure you all will like it, and I'm looking forward to getting that started as well!
7. My last bit of news for now is that I'm now on Discord! Not just that, but I've made a large server of my own that will involve a lot of different kinds of news about my own artwork, talks about games, movies, and music, and any other sorts of shenanigans that are par for the course on the BluMoonToons line of work! Art Jam Jam Hype ?!
Posted 8 years agoI've talked about this with a couple of a friends and I've finally decided to do it- my very first art jam! So, I'm going to host one based on a game that I find doesn't get much attention- Go! Go! Hypergrind. I have a good feeling a good lot of you probably learned about this game's existence through me, and even if you didn't, this game is still incredibly obscure and hard to come by. So, to help boost its popularity a little bit, I'll host this art jam that will go on from today, July 17, 2017, all the way until September 30, 2017.
Anything's allowed so long as it features any of the characters from the game, the stages, the Negative Appeal gimmicks, etc. I'm pretty lenient with the kind of content that can be featured in it, that includes nudity, though I would implore for the piece to stick to the tone of the original game as much as possible, so it can be cartoonishly wacky, showing off awesome skateboarding tricks, or it could even be just the characters interacting with each other.
If you wish to submit porn, you can. I'd want for it to fit the nature of the game as much as possible, but if you wish to do regular pornand be lame like that you can.
If you want to submit a piece to the art jam, just submit your link in the comments of this journal. I'll pool all of the links in this journal. Keep in mind though, the piece must be NEW. As in, I will only accept it if it's created after this journal has been posted. You can draw it however you want: traditional drawing, digital, charcoals, clay- whatever you want, any method is fair game so long as it's art that you created.

Danny's 2017 Birthday Thank Yous + NEW PROJECTS!
Posted 8 years agoOkay, I have a genuine question for everyone: how do you feel about these journals? I'm only asking because I've thought about how this might seem like just a big blanket way to just say "thank you" to everyone for all of their wishes and gifts rather than do it individually. I don't know if I'm just thinking too hard about this or what, but I do want to show that this is at least an acknowledgment to show that I do pay attention to what you guys send me and I am genuinely grateful for it. I just don't have the kind of time I used to to reply to everyone. I don't know what you all think but hey, that's what the comments are for, right?
In all seriousness thought, thanks to all of you for the great birthday wishes. Now, I've only done these "thank you" journals over on DA, but I felt it's about time I did one here to finally at least give you guys some acknoslwedgment that I'm not just ignoring comments and not replying to people- I'm just that busy. X_X Anyway I do have to say that I didn't think I'd get to the point where I am with my FA now when I first started it. I mean, I'm being followed by 1,330 different people, which is just crazy to me! The fact that I managed to blow past the four digit mark is just insane, and this more than anything tells me that I MUST be doing something right to have so many of you sticking by and following the work of a 23-year-old college loser who loves cartoons. Seriously though, I can't stress enough how much I love and appreciate all of you for putting up with me for another long twelve months. Things are only going to get bigger and more ambitious, though, last year I started a fanfic that didn't wrap until April of this year, which was a pretty big thing to do aside from just regular fanart. This year, something even bigger will finally make it's long-awaited debut, and it will be AWESOME.
Just before getting to the BIG project news, I will do the same thing I've done for the last two birthday journals and share the gallery of awesome pics made even more awesome people, though just before that I also want to plug in my birthday stream.
If hearing a bunch of guys talking about random BS is the kind of thing that strikes your fancy, then this is the Hangout for you! I really want to thank everyone who participated on the stream. So thanks a lot to

Well, even I'll admit they look good together, and despite my tormenting of whether or not they will or won't be canon in the proper series, I do love seeing how they're drawn by other artists. They're both my most popular characters for a reason, I suppose, and I thank you for ordering this piece! :-D

Seriously man, these guys look really, really cool in your style, and you did amazing at capturing their personalities here, from the dorky but cute Danny, to the total beef landmass that is Cassius, to the cool goofball that is Jackson, to the sweet mom that is Gretchen- absolutely nailed them, and I'm also really happy that you like these guys so much. This is a really great piece of them! :D
Last, but most certainly not least, is a piece done by another really great friend, and one of my early influences in the world of furry art when I started out in both FA and DA,
shinragod. Shin, this is just amazing! Violet and Cougar look like an absolutely hot couple together, and they pull off the "naughty teacher/student" getup deliciously. I love your take on Violet, and I'm also happy to see you keeping Cougar equally plump in all the right areas. Let's hope there's an after-school session with these two! ;D But in all seriousness, thank you so much for this, and it was great seeing you draw this on stream! :D

Now that I covered the gallery, I can announce my big projects for the year. There's three of them, and this is the order on which they'll start up (though I'll still work on all three at once).
1. Go! Go! Hypergrind: Take Two!
This project has already been kicked off by delivering updated designs to the main competitors, but that won't be all of it. I will also draw concept designs for all of the skate tracks featured in the game, and finally end it off with a good, ol'-fashioned instruction manual. Yeah, remember those? Back before you downloaded them digitally you got this big pamphlet of info inside the disk telling you all about the game? Well, that'll be the final step for this made up sequel to a non-existing video game, which is a pretty cool way to wrap things up if you ask me. ;D
2. By Your Side
Now, I know what you're thinking: "But I thought that project was over!" It is! The written part for it, that is, but that's not all I had in mind for this fanfic. There will be illustrations to go along with it, including a character line-up featuring the main, secondary, AND spoiler characters featured in the fanfic, an update to the cover of the fanfic, covers for ALL of the chapters, and maybe some illustrations for some of the highlights of the fanfic. I also thought about adding one final chapter, one that doesn't really have anything to do with the story but more of a long detailing of my writing process when it came to actually writing the project, how everything went in the writing stages, some of the blunders that I suffered along the way, all the way to the completed fanfic that is there right now. All to just make it a bit more "official" as it may. ;D
3. Timeless
This is the big one. For those of you that have followed me from my very first account will know that this has been my dream project for an entire DECADE, and now it's the time for this project to finally come to fruition. Part of it has already started with updated designs of the characters in a brand new line-up, but that's only the beginning. There is SOOOOO much I have planned for this project that you all have no idea just how much more Timeless will be clogging up your notifications. After the line-up, the next thing will be another line-up for the secondary characters, followed by concepts of some of the most important objects in the series, followed by a teaser poster, which will then be followed by a proper pilot comic to set the series in motion, before officially taking off in mid-November. It seems like a long time from now, but we're almost halfway done through the year, and I have a LOT of work to do. Trust me, it will be BIG.
It sure does sound like I have a lot on my plate, and that's just three big projects, that's not even including things like my commissions, other fanart, my Weekly Sketch challenge, other gift art, and more. AAAAAND I will also be finishing with college this year, so 2017 will be a very, very, VERY big year for ya boi Danny, but it should be also a lot of fun, very productive, and full of so much new stuff that I think will take BluMoonToons even bigger heights than before. Though I have to thank you all for your support and loyalty. I do feel very grateful to proudly say that I have a good following, especially with all of you being very kind, respectful, and (most of all, especially for me) patient. I probably don't say this enough, but I feel lucky to have all of you watch my progress as a novice startup trying to hit big, but also enjoying everything I do.

No, my work will still be free, and you'll pretty much have access to 95% of it. It's not a solid way for me to make any profit to support my lifestyle or anything let alone pay for all of my college fees, but any little bit helps.

Seriously man, these guys look really, really cool in your style, and you did amazing at capturing their personalities here, from the dorky but cute Danny, to the total beef landmass that is Cassius, to the cool goofball that is Jackson, to the sweet mom that is Gretchen- absolutely nailed them, and I'm also really happy that you like these guys so much. Now that I covered the gallery, I can announce my big projects for the year. There's three of them, and this is the order on which they'll start up (though I'll still work on all three at once).
1. Go! Go! Hypergrind: Take Two!
This project has already been kicked off by delivering updated designs to the main competitors, but that won't be all of it. I will also draw concept designs for all of the skate tracks featured in the game, and finally end it off with a good, ol'-fashioned instruction manual. Yeah, remember those? Back before you downloaded them digitally you got this big pamphlet of info inside the disk telling you all about the game? Well, that'll be the final step for this made up sequel to a non-existing video game, which is a pretty cool way to wrap things up if you ask me. ;D
2. By Your Side
Now, I know what you're thinking: "But I thought that project was over!" It is! The written part for it, that is, but that's not all I had in mind for this fanfic. There will be illustrations to go along with it, including a character line-up featuring the main, secondary, AND spoiler characters featured in the fanfic, an update to the cover of the fanfic, covers for ALL of the chapters, and maybe some illustrations for some of the highlights of the fanfic. I also thought about adding one final chapter, one that doesn't really have anything to do with the story but more of a long detailing of my writing process when it came to actually writing the project, how everything went in the writing stages, some of the blunders that I suffered along the way, all the way to the completed fanfic that is there right now. All to just make it a bit more "official" as it may. ;D
3. Timeless
This is the big one. For those of you that have followed me from my very first account will know that this has been my dream project for an entire DECADE, and now it's the time for this project to finally come to fruition. Part of it has already started with updated designs of the characters in a brand new line-up, but that's only the beginning. There is SOOOOO much I have planned for this project that you all have no idea just how much more Timeless will be clogging up your notifications. After the line-up, the next thing will be another line-up for the secondary characters, followed by concepts of some of the most important objects in the series, followed by a teaser poster, which will then be followed by a proper pilot comic to set the series in motion, before officially taking off in mid-November. It seems like a long time from now, but we're almost halfway done through the year, and I have a LOT of work to do. Trust me, it will be BIG.
It sure does sound like I have a lot on my plate, and that's just three big projects, that's not even including things like my commissions, other fanart, my Weekly Sketch challenge, other gift art, and more. AAAAAND I will also be finishing with college this year, so 2017 will be a very, very, VERY big year for ya boi Danny, but it should be also a lot of fun, very productive, and full of so much new stuff that I think will take BluMoonToons even bigger heights than before. Though I have to thank you all for your support and loyalty. I do feel very grateful to proudly say that I have a good following, especially with all of you being very kind, respectful, and (most of all, especially for me) patient. I probably don't say this enough, but I feel lucky to have all of you watch my progress as a novice startup trying to hit big, but also enjoying everything I do.

Posted 8 years agoThaaaaaat's right! Danny here is about to turn 23 years old! I... honestly can't believe it. I feel like I should act more like an adult... than I actually do but, ehh, what are you gonna do. A LOT has changed since last year, but I will say this- something that isn't going to go away is the yearly hangout! That's right, I'll be hosting a hangout for my birthday, though it won't be on the 12th, instead this Hangout will happen on Sunday, May 14th at 6 PM, Central Time! The reason why this is it's because I'm actually busy on my birthday, so it'll be on Sunday. Just like with the last hangout sessions, if you'd like to be a part of it please send me a note with the headline "Birthday Hangout" and give me your e-mail (preferably a gmail account) address so I can add you to the roster of people to be part of the hangout!

An update.
Posted 9 years agoNow, after I posted the last journal I had some people worried about what happened. I don't really plan to say it- some friends know, but I'd prefer to stay quiet about that; let's just say it's related to college and leave it at that. I'm making this update to clear some things up in regards to what's going with me and places like my DeviantART, FA, and Tumblr. I won't be... "gone", but me doing anything with these sites is going to be more uncommon as I go out and find jobs, hopefully land a job, and work, and have to build a professional portfolio, that will REALLY eat away at any free time I may have to work on art projects. So, I will post things, probably for what may seems like I normally do, but they'll be coming by a lot slower than normal. I can't say how long this is going to be the case for, but that's how things are right now.
I hope you guys understand, and I know you will- you guys are pretty reasonable and patient, which I'm definitely fortunate enough about. But yes, that's going to be the case for now. So thank you all for reading, and I'll see you all later.

I've thought about opening up a Patreon account... and I thought about this for a while. The Big 500th Pic + June Schedule
Posted 9 years agoAlright guys, I'm almost getting to the big 500. With any luck, we should get there by Sunday. My super secret big project is about to be revealed, but we still have a few things to do to get there. Also, once I get to the 500th pic, I'm going to pull back on my output to just one pic a week- which I've kind of been doing anyway, but that's only because of other things getting in the way. I really want to get to my big project quickly, and once that's out of the way, I'll do just one drawing a week. I don't want to wear myself out and make drawing feel like a chore to me, because it's not, and you guys know I really love to draw. With that said, I think I'll start sharing my schedule for every month from now on, just to keep track of these projects.

Danny here, and by the time of writing this, I'll be out on VACATION- so, that means I'll be out and away from the computer for two weeks, and won't be back until January 4th. So, I'll just say this right now: Merrry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanza, Happy Holidays, and if you have a problem with any of those, then you can kiss my- [CENSORED due to PG-rated holiday journal]
Anyway, it's been quite a year for a lot of us- some good, some bad, some wanted this year to be done and over with since July, others have pushed themselves to the edge of productivity- or maybe you had all of he above. This was not an easy year for me, but I feel like I produced a LOT more good art than I did last year- I feel I've definitely improved quite a lot over these last 365 days and I'm really proud of myself for that. Plus, at this point, I'm less than a year away from graduating, so, next year is going to be a big year for me. I hope you all had a really eventful year regardless of what happened, and that you all got to enjoy yourselves with whatever came through, and I'm very thankful for all of you to have stuck around with my shenanigans for this long, and there will be plenty more insanity next year- I can promise you THAT.
Anyway, enough sentimentality, there's STILL some good art stuff going on, even when I'm away, I've decided to do something special for you all. I brought a LOT of Which Wich bags with me, so I can draw some gifts for you guys who want some gift art from me- I'd almost call it my 12 Days of Dan-mas, but... I only have 11 bags... oh, well! Let's say my Joy is the 12th bag, and let's not get caught up in the technicalities. Anyway, here's a list of those who are getting a bag, and open spots for anybody who wants any:

Posted 10 years agoHey guys, this is pretty... very short notice, though I did mention it in my newest pic- I'm going to San Francisco! Yeah, for the next six days, I'll be in both San Francisco AND Los Angeles to visit some family and enjoy 4th of July weekend. So that'll be a barrel of monkeys of fun!

And in case you're wondering what happened to the whole "question podcast" idea, that'll have to be on hold to do, as it's been kind of a pain to render out, so if any of you out there use YouTube to upload original videos, or better yet, use Premire to edit your videos can give me a hand in the rendering process.
so, in the meantime... why not ask even MORE questions? Like I said before, you can ask as many as you want, even if you asked them before, but please try not to repeat your questions and please don't be vague about what you asked. So please, don't ask me: "What's your favorite character?" Ever? I don't know! That's TOO broad of a question. It never hurts to be specific.
The limit on this will be until I update with a new journal- so don't be shy, and I'll talk to you all when I return to Texas- later!
