i have restored all the missing images from my gallery - even the bad ones ^.^

i am restoring my art to FA - when i took it down i did so in a way that allowed for restoring it later - and it seems the future is now

my feelings about how FA is run havent really changed - but i have to maintain some human contact - and i need feedback on my work - in a vacuum i get hung up on its shortcomings and cant see its positives ^.^'

my archives are not available to me at the moment so i wont be able to upload everything immediately - but i have the good stuff ^.^

sorry guys - i am really not thrilled about taking down my art but i simply do not trust the new owners - corporate types play by their own rules - its not just the porn ads - i got to thinking about this:

historically when a company is bought out, the new owners do not regard themselves as beholden to any agreements made with customers by the old owners - let me spin a scenario for you - lets say IMVU claims that it purchased FA's art assets along with the company - in theory we are protected by copyright law - but in order to stop IMVU doing whatever it likes with our work, each of us would have to engage in legal action against it - and i dont know about you, but i cant afford a court case - i guess what im getting at is that if the owner is a member of the community, and has at least some minimal participation in it and/or is concerned about their reputation in fandom, then a contract based on trust is fine - Dragoneer may have been a crap admin, but there were good sociological reasons to expect him to stay basically in line - but FA has been taken over by a business - and business only has allegiance to capital - what we can reasonably expect from IMVU is for it to do whatever it deems necessary to extract money from the site - right now we continue to behave as though FA is run under a trust-based contract, when we have no reason to expect that contract to be upheld - the site is now owned by a business which has nothing to do with the fandom and which has no interest in furry whatsoever, except as a source of revenue - if it cant extract value from us while simultaneously respecting our concerns, then too bad for our concerns - they own FA and can do whatever they want - so i'm not saying IMVU will definitely screw us - but there is no reason to believe they wont.

it is also fair to say that, for better or worse, FA defines fandom - it is by far the largest and most visited site for furry art, so far as i know - whatever FA does will reflect upon the fandom at large, and to a great extent will SHAPE the fandom - so if FA acts in ways contrary to our interests, and there is no reasonable expectation that it will be responsive to our concerns, then we must no longer grant legitimacy to the site.

[oh and you know something - as i look back, it looks like the FA admins deleted my commentary on the last controversy a year ago - with no warning of course - they can respond quickly when it comes to covering their butts - just to confirm im doing the right thing by leaving - expect them to delete this too]

the main issue for me is not ME seeing these porn ads - it is people coming here and seeing my work associated with these ads - my installing an ad blocker isnt going to fix that - and i cannot envision any probable sequence of events where the porn ads go away AND the site stays up

i am seriously considering closing out my account here - which is to say ive already decided and am just building up the nerve to do it since there is pretty much no other option

i dont want everyone who replied a couple of posts ago to think im blowing you off - but when i open up like that i have a real anxiety about what people say in reply - so i kind of havent read any of the replies - im kind of afraid to - but i will probably read them when i am not all crazy like i am now n.n;

the way i feel isnt really about popularity because what is popularity but an erogenous reaction? it takes place inside the fans - wholly independent of what the artist is doing - and this is something happening in me - i see what the work of other artists is, but for the most part i only see what my work isnt - so yeah i can tell myself im being irrational but that doesnt make it any easier

whenever i do a commission for someone i find myself looking at the art other artists have done for them and every other picture looks better than mine and i imagine they feel ripped off and that makes me even less interested in taking commissions

i really dont like my art but that is what comes out of my hands so im stuck with it - i used to think iwas pretty good but i dont think that anymore

i think  herro is awesome because she replies to EVERY comment ^.^ and she gets tons of them n.n; i aspire to that and i know how difficult it is

here you post your basic commission idea and link to any materials you feel are relevant - if you would rather not have everyone read your idea or otherwise want to keep it stealthy you can note me instead - THEN - i choose two commissions from the bunch - if i pick yours i get back to you with my payment info and you shall PAY (shake fist)

i will paint your single character, full-body, linework w/full color, in opencanvas - i will not slavishly replicate your characteristics down to the molecule - this is an interpretation so loosen up a little

when the linework is done, i show it to you - you tell me if there is anything glaringly wrong with it and i fix it - no micromanaging - and i paint it and you deal with it <3 i send you an image file of as high a resolution as I start with, and i work pretty big

it is not first come first served - it is first of interest to me, first served - i know that seems 'special' but i am still testing this out and we are likely to have better results if i am interested in what i am doing - and needless to say any subject matter which falls within my comfort zone will lend to better results - see my gallery for the typical aldebaran nonsense

typical boilerplate stuff: i retain publication and distribution rights, except in as much as you can show it to friends and post it on your web pages and tattoo it on your butt and so forth - if you paint it on the hood of your trans am or side of your custom sex van i would like a photo ^.^
