Dash Connnections

Posted 15 years agoJust thought I would post a new journal and let you all know what is going on. If you know me, then you know I hit a bit of a rough patch recently. Nothing too bad thank goodness (yeah I can keep a perspective on it).
It has been kind of rough though. In a short time, I had my camera, which I need for work, break, my laptop crash, a tire blew out, had a medical scare, got close to a new job but didn't get it, phone broke, and got rear ended.
It was kind of rough, but I feel like I'm at the end of it I hope. Camera was costly but fixed, my laptop and tire were covered by warrenties, I'm healthy and fine, got a new phone (which I'm using now) that I like, car should get fixed fine soon, and starting the job hunt again with a positive attitude. So it's not a horrible patch but rough. Luckily, I have a wonderful mate and friends to help me out. Thanks.
Sadly, rough times are part of life and I'm just doing my best to look up.

Computer death
Posted 15 years agoMy computer started acting up yesterday, but I thought I got it seemingly back to working. But today it truely went splat. So I have to take it to get it fixed tomorrow. So I will be out mostly until then. Still got my iTouch, but won't be much. Hope it is a quick fix. Thankfully it still has a warrenty.
Art Backlog
Posted 15 years agoI was going to post up some photo from Wild Nights 2010 that were taken of me, and it caused me to notice that I had a number of art piece that never have been put in my gallery. So I figured I should try to get some of them up.
I know there is a lot, and I normally don't upload stuff this close together, but I figured do a few things a day instead of bulk uploading and swamping everyone with art. There is some nice work in there that I have gotten, including a few adult things. ^^
So sorry for the surge of postings, but I hope you like it all. Because after this, probably won't be much for a while other than if I do a bit of fursuiting.
Unless I start up on a furry project that I'm thinking about doing, which could be fun. But we will see.

What a Wild Nights...
Posted 15 years agoI just got back from Wild Night 2010 today, and I had a fantastic time. For those who don't know, it's an outdoor con in eastern Oklahoma, which is really different from a hotel one for sure. I'm going to skim over it all and hit the highlights. Had some rain, had some sun, had a lot of fun and memories.
I got up there at like 3 am Thursday night (technically Friday) with my new boyfriend Pondit, and we got hunkered down in a group cabin. Sadly, some people filled up the cabin with the rest of my pack before we got there, so ended up have to do a cabin next door, but that's the way it goes.
Friday morning came around and I got to meet up with my friends and start to meet new ones. They day was exciting and got to meet new people. The suiters all got together though and went into town on a fursuiting parade. It was so much fun, and had a lot of memorable experience and got lots of attention.
Saturday was a lot of fun as well. Got to make a collar in leatherworking workshop, went on a photo shoot in suit and will post pics soon, got to watch Oki Doki go repelling in fursuit which was awesome, and went up for auction in fursuit for a dance with the winner.
Sunday, the last day we were there. Its always sad to leave a con, but got to be the photographer for Predator/Prey, one a piece of Crys' art (will show in a pic for a reason, haha), and got to hang out with people before they left.
It was great to see everyone again, and great to meet everyone new. I plan to post up some photos on here, and already got some stuff on YouTube. So check them out if you can.

Furry Fiesta Recap
Posted 15 years agoWow! Just wow! Furry Fiesta was a blast. Last year I roomed and mostly hung around with 
texascoyote and shyly met a few people. This year though, I knew SO many more people and met and socialized with a lot more. I roomed with him again as well as 
okidoki and 
strykerwulf and we all head a good time together.
I got there late Thursday night; and from then on it was all go. I spent most of my time just hanging out with various friends off and on, met a lot of cool new ones, hit up some panels and just having a good time. I would list all the people I met and hung with, but it was a lot. Plus, I got a couple commissions and a lot of badges. I'm a badge whore now. ^^
Saturday, I went to the anniversary dinner of
imperiallion and 
kurisu-kitsune which was really nice to be there on a day like that. I got pretty upset that night because my fursuit didn't arrive on Saturday like it was supposed to, but I calmed down thanks to friends and moved on.
I also got to go to Kyell Gold's book reading for the first chapter of the Out of Position sequel. And it starts great. More than that though, Kyell Gold started to talk with me afterward. And Sabian, Kyell Gold, Kit (Gold's mate) and I sat around and talked for a while and that was a lot of fun and memorable.
The thing that made me go running down the hall, bouncing in excitement the whole way though is that my fursuit came in on Sunday morning. Apparently USPS will deliver packages on Sundays. No one knew I guess. I was ecstatic. I put it on and suited most of the rest of the day. Did some of the end of con stuff and hung out with some people and Jase Husky, doing some fursuiting stuff with some other suiters who were still there at night.
I didn't want to leave Monday, but had to. Little to say I can't wait for next year, and will probably try to go to another con before Oklacon if I can.

OMG! Snow in central Texas!
Posted 15 years agoLol, it's actual snow! That actually collects and stick on the ground. ^^
Man, the Texans are going to lose the minds probably with this. But, since I'm from Kansas originally, I'm used to having snow around. It just will be tricky since they don't know how to handle the roads with snow. And they already get slick from just rain. But, it's ok. I'm going to enjoy it still. Will probably put up a couple journals tonight about Furry Fiesta and something else. But first... *goes and romps in the snow*

2009 down, onto 2010
Posted 16 years agoWell, amongst all the new year journals that people are doing, I figured I would do one as well for all of you out there. But of course you all know that mine is better, just because it's mine. Hehe. Well, I broke this into two parts, the past year events and the future resolutions.
The future: 2010 resolutions
- Find a better job, hopefully in Texas too would be cool
- Finish writing Pennywize Life
- Try to build my knowledge and skills in fursuiting

Banged up Doggie: ER Visit
Posted 16 years agoYep, the doggie is kind of beaten up. The good news is that I should heal up alright. Just probably not going to working for a couple weeks.
Basically, I was photographing a football game and they forgot we were in the press box. When we went to leave, we found ourselves locked in. So tried to climb the 6'-7' fence, I got to the top and tried to hop down when and my foot got caught. So I fell hard on asphalt. I ended up with a gash near my left eye, sore ribs, bruised knee, sore wrist and fracture in my elbow. That's the short version of things.
So went to the ER and got checked out. So now just working to get better. Going to try to get better.

One of the best times of my life.. 7 Deadly Sins, Oklacon 09
Posted 16 years agoIt took me a few days to get set to write about Oklacon, but so much fun stuff happened while there, I just really didn't know what all to include. But, let me tell you, one of the funniest times of my life. And I can't wait for next year already. I know it's long, but so much happened, I don't want to leave the great parts out, so bare with me on the length.
Let's start of nice and easy though...
Thursday: While the con started on Thursday, this dog was stuck working, so I didn't get to go up. But, to save some time driving on Friday (a 6 hour trip if I did it in one trip instead of two). So, I went up to the Dallas/Fort Worth area and stayed with a furfriend, Fenrir, after shooting a high school football game, getting me there at like 1 am. We hung out for a short time before we hit the hay.
Friday: After a quick breakfast with Fenrir and a drive of about 4+ hours, I get to Oklacon and meet up quickly with imperiallion and kurisu-kitsune. After parking and registration situated, I got to hang out with them as we started to mingle together with all the furs and start to investigate the surroundings. I spent some time looking at the items and wanting to get a lot of things, but only had a little cash so figured out what I want. (Sin: Greed)
Not long afterward though, we headed back to the cabin where I really got to meet and talk with my other cabinmates okidoki, 
foxglove, and Ravennon over burgers on the grill. Oki did a pretty epic job of cooking considering our spatula broke on the FIRST flip of a burger. We also had 
harvestthehusky over to chat with us. (Sin: Gluttony)
Back to the camp for the dance where we all hang out and mingle, and find out that a 19-year-old girl was drunk and swinging around a wooden sword. So Leo goes and helps with that and shortly after coming back and hanging a bit more, we go to leave. But, before we manage to get out, police and an ambulance show up to take the girl to the hospital because she passed out in the cold and got hypothermia. So, we were stuck in the parking lot for a while, sitting and watching. (Sin: Sloth)
Fastfoward a bit past the Airsofting, drinking and and partying in the cabin with a lot of people and a hooka to when I go to get in the shower. While relaxing in the shower, I hear the door open and see a glass of ice cold water appear over the shower. I dodge and only get a bit of it across my side, yelling out in rage "MOTHER...!!!" Causing the tricky coyote to slink out of the room before catching the blunt of wrath. But, he still got a taste it as I got my vengeance shortly after. (Sin: Wrath)
The coyote stepped outside in the cold to look for his blanket in his pajama bottoms. I just locked the door on him and let him chill for a bit before going to let him in, and surprised him with an airsoft shot to his gun, which freaked him out. Making me proud to get him back so quick. (Sin: Pride)
Anyways, went to bed after, bunking with Foxglove on the pull-out Bed-o-Spring-Filled-Death. And did our best to sleep.
Sat: After a rough night of sleep, get up and mingle with the cabinmates for a while before going into camp. So, while some furs went fursuting in town, I looked around at the artists and in the dealer's den for what I wanted to commission and wishing I could draw like they do. (Sin: Envy)
But I settled on some stuff and got them commissioned. Shortly after that I got to meet up with and hang out with the great strykerwulf. And we hung out on and off together having a pretty good time. (Sin: Lust *blush*)
But, we stopped for a while to play Predator and Prey, which was a blast. I lasted to the end, but technically didn't survive, by one point, but screw technical, I lived.
Anyways, met back up with people and hung out with people some more, and just having a good time, which included finding Oki's car saran wrapped by Calamity Cougar. Fast forward some more, and we are hanging out in the cabin and decided to treat Oki's fan boy to a treat. So we have him come inside, where Leo, Silver and I place him "under arrest" and secure him to a chair where Oki comes out and gives him a lap dance. Hehe... I swear our cabin neighbors thought someone was getting arrested.
Sun: A lot of fun things happened on Sunday too, but mostly spent it hanging out with Silver and all my cabinmates. But, the greatest parts of the day happened in the evening. We got tired of being at camp, so as we came back, we see the door to our cabin open and the lights on. As we come in, we find Calamity Cougar trying to sneak out after pranking Oki by saran wrapping his fursuit truck shut and wrapping his head in papertowels. Foxglove quickly shut and locked the door and I tucked myself down against it and the couch. Leo used his airsoft gun to make him cut it all open again and everyone gave him several rounds for it except me as I was wrapped up in my jacket as I kept the door shut as Cougar tried to escape through it. But, we had a plan.
Several people showed up to the cabin and we organized a secret plan to get him back. *CLASSIFIED* But, after all that and we were back, we spent some time hanging and having a good and chasing down and arresting Jase Husky as well as other things. All good times, but less interesting in text.
Mon: After a wonderful singing wake up call of "Sesame Street" theme song by Oki, just spent the day cleaning up and saying goodbyes to everyone, which was sad as I had a great time. But, it must come to an end. So Leo was nice enough to ride back with me so I wasn't alone for most of the trip until Arlington, where he went the rest of the way with Kuri, and I headed back here for my normal life.
Anyways, if I got everything organized right or not. Greatness. Pure greatness. Good new and old friends. Pranks on me and of my hand, and on my friends. Meeting a great friend. Got some nice art. Fun games and nice weather. What more could you want?

Off to Oklacon
Posted 16 years agoWell my friends, I'm heading off to Oklacon here shortly. I wanted to leave today with Kuri and Leo who took off this morning, but I was stuck working (which I have an issue about, but that's another story in itself). But, I'm excited to get up there and have some fun for a few days with everyone. I'm stopping part way and staying with a fur friend instead of getting there way late and having my internal clock all messed up for the rest of the con.

I can now get a rental car! 25th Birthday!
Posted 16 years agoYep, I'm becoming an old dog. I turn 25 today, so I can easily get a rental car and my insurance costs should go down. Yay! Not much else cool about 25 though. Well I guess a 1/4 of a century of life.
Had a party last night with some furs, instead of our regular furmeet, and will probably be doing something tonight as well. So far it's been pretty fun day and I'm excited to for the rest of it.

Pennywize Life
Posted 16 years agoI finally started on writing a story that's been in my head since Furry Fiesta last February, called "Pennywize Life." It's based off a short-lived webcomic series that I was a part of under the same name, but since it has completely halted with no plans to begin again. I decided to take up the plot and use it as the base for my story. If you've looked through my gallery, you will see some of the strips, which I used as part of the base story, as well as a piece of art from another scene.
The story primarily follows me as I'm pulled into the life of a gang member along with three of my friends. I'm the main character because I was apart of the original webcomic and because I figured I would write what I know, so what better than a personality based around myself. After all, I'm not a great writer, so I need breaks where I can get them.
I had started writing it a while back, but I stopped because I had another story series I was in the middle of and found it difficult to juggle the two separate stories. And I felt both deserved full attention.
I really hope that you will all take a moment to read my story and support me and furry literature. I plan to write additional chapters in the near future. I really would like to get feedback and let me know what you all think. The more I get, the easier it is for me to want to write if I know people are out there reading. I hope you all enjoy. Thanks.

Update on my dog story
Posted 16 years agoIf you read my last journal about the possible puppy mill in my town that I had to go cover a story about, then I figured I would give you an update on what was found out from that so far.
They are doing an investigation on the woman who owned the home and dogs. They don't think it is actually a puppy mill, but instead was a "good Samaritan" who rescued more dogs than she could care for until the dogs overran the property. They said the dogs possess good health, but are in potentially hazardous conditions.
The injured dogs were suffering from either pre-existing conditions or injuries not caused by owner or collision with a car.
The investigation is going to continue and they will review each dog and its health. The owner reported 21 dogs at the home. The owner will be required to bring the house up to code, and during this time they will see if any charges or more violations against the owner.
The owner told the investigators the bones came from other dogs unburying the remains after they died.
I just wanted to let you all know what was up. Still crazy and sad though.

One of the saddest stories I've covered and it's about dogs
Posted 16 years agoThis was really one of the saddest news stories I've personally had to cover. I've covered some pretty sad stuff too. It isn't the top of the list, but it's sure up there on things I'll remember. Yesterday when I was working in the office, a person called in and gave us a news tip. So the cops reporter and I went out to a house in our town. While walking up to it, nothing seemed to wrong, but the house and yard was blocked by overgrown trees, brush and a fence (which part of it had fallen over). The house back away from the road so we started to walk up the drive way and, as we start doing that, we start to see a number of dogs around and trash littering the yard. As we got up the house, there were at least 8 cars parked about and 2 boats, stacks of discarded items and trash piled in one of the cars, and yes more trash and old dog food bags and cans everywhere. Animal control was there as they were trying to capture three dogs who were loose and were seemingly injured. There were even more dogs free in the yard and several tied to fixed points and in a fenced in area.
The loose dogs had run out into the road and motorist had tried to help capture the injured ones in the road and wrangle the loose ones back out of the road when they found this and called Animal Control. They said when they first arrived they saw as many as 50 dogs about, but several ran off into an area behind the house where there is thick brush, so I didn't see that many when I arrived.
As shocking as it all was, that wasn't the worst thing. They found bones in the yard. And not just any bones, but what I'm almost sure are bones of at least three small dogs. Their were at least 3 skulls that we found. Plus, a patch of unidentifiable animal fur in one of the boats. I literally shook with disgust and anger. I really felt bad for each of these dogs. They are looking for the owner last thing we knew. They thought it might be a puppy mill. And I'm hoping charges will be filed.

Looking for some goggle help
Posted 16 years agoSince I'm getting a fursuit done, which I was told would be done by mid-November hopefully, I'm looking ahead to some of the things I'll need once it gets here. And one of those things I'm needing is my trade-make blue goggles. SO, I'm needing a bit of help finding the exact right ones, since I'll be a little picky about them. As you've probably all seen them in my commissions and my ref sheet, they need to be black with oblong (not round) blue lens and preferably strap in the middle.
I was told to look for rave goggles since they would be larger than normal goggles and would better match for the larger head size of my suit. I did find one pair that were pretty close, but the nose bride isn't right.

I'll be chilling with any of my friends who make it up there. Not fully sure who is making it there. I'd list some, but then I'd miss a few I'm sure, then they'd feel hurt and unloved. *eyes Pensive for leaving him off*

Since I won't have my fursuit yet, I'll just be enjoying whatever activities I can. Other than that, just hanging out with people.

If you want me to draw you something, I can try. But, I doubt you will want. Only thing I'm good at is photography, so could do that maybe.
