I'm opening for "Keep it simple" commissions, i need to build up my rainy day fund; I've been without a decent computer for a while now and my dayjob just isn't enough to cover my expenses AND for a new computer, so... Posted 14 years agoThis probably requires pictures, but since i don't have a decent camera; i'll just go ahead and describe what i just did.
At this time, my tablet (an old intuos3) has aged and survived many, many hardships. It has a spliced usb cord, it has no drawing surface (since there is no official Wacom supplies in my country), so i use an acrylic scratchpad instead, and the nibs were long gone, so i make my own, (i used to use sanded toothpicks, and later on i made them out of resin which lasts a lot longer and when sanded properly run smoothly).
Now, i wondered if my strokes would improve if i actually had the visual input like i do on normal paper, and saw some people converting and retrofitting their old tablets into lcd displays and stuff, but then i figured that with the experience i had with making my own "wacom supplies" i could try making something that would serve the same purpose.
Now, it's not quite what you're thinking. it's nothing too technical, and i believe you can do this yourself to try it out. it works like a charm!
I simply retrofitted a graphite drawing lead in my stylus (replacing the nib), and fixed a sheet of paper (cut to the size of the drawing area) and placed it instead of the scratchpad.
Turns out it mimics every little detail you do if you set your brush settings right, and it looks awesome.

Posted 14 years agoSo, i finally got a torx 6 screwdriver and managed to extract my hard drive from my old dead mac.
Been finding some doodles here and there while backing up, Some of them are KINDA post worthy, but still old. i'm thinking about uploading them; so don't get scared if you suddenly see a lot of suckage coming from me.

Posted 15 years agoAs of late; i met some people over at my university that happened to own MW2 for the Xbox.
So, as it was normal; we added each other to xbox live and played through XBL.
For the time i had been playing in XBL, i had NEVER faced any problems with racism, or mistreat of any kind. Why? because i spoke english.
As soon as my pals and i began chatting in spanish (we all live in Mexico, and only a few of us are fluent in english) we were bombarded with ignorant and racist comments about our language, customs of those who live abroad (which are mainly different from ours), and even to question our "validity" as human beings.
I can take trash talk, i can take nicknames; i talk a lot of shit too. But this is ridiculous.
Almost EVERY lobby we got into; there was at least TWO people that were not only hateful, but Ignorant; tossing insults and ignorant statements as: "You're in America; please speak english in our COUNTRY!" Jokes about greencards (whatever the fuck they are).
I know about muting, I know about "Avoiding players" and i most certainly know my way around ignorant people like this.
What baffles me is the amount and level of hate present for foreigners in people from the US, and how enraged they can get only because you speak a different language; let alone, come from a different country.
Why so much hate?

When i signed up i was overwhelmed by the amount of people that actually stopped for a minute to look at my crap. When i started surfing around the site i was blown away by the great quality of the artists that populate FA, i was THRILLED to be part of this. It may not look like it; but i love you guys.
I've learned lots from you, and met some amazing artist and all kinds of interesting people; i hope you continue to grow as the heartwarming community you are (and to keep meeting more of you guys; you rock!).

so i turned my laptop on earlier like i usually do on weekends, except... it didn't turn on.
Not that i'm very active these days on the internet, but i was going to check DA, FA and the usual suspects, since i haven't done so in a VERY long time.
Apple's website says i'm ellegible for repair or replacement, but i haven't been able to contact their support hotline (since it's sunday) but oh, well... see how that goes.
The real reason for this journal, though (those who actually read them, if any.) is to ask you guys: "If i opened commissions, would you buy one?"

THAT time of the year again.
Posted 16 years agoSo... being october and a few hours away from day nine, i couldn't break my promise (even though i don't remember who i made it to...) to "tell in advance WHEN my birthday is."
I'll be 21 in a few hours. Legal and totally rapeable. RAPE AWAY!
In other news: i haven't been checking FA for a while now for various reasons, mainly because i have been frantically looking for a job even if i ended up as a "Tech support guy", "IT assistant" or "Secretary's Guru (xD)"
... That and that i've been enrolled on a design and motion graphics project for ITESM; for an event called "Sessions México" which mainly consists of a concert/musical portraying the musical richness of my beloved country.
s'been taking up most of my time; and even though the payment is VERY low for the amount of work; i love this project.
Well, that's it. Just leaving you guys a short update on my boring life.

About the sketch giveaway? well, i didn't get to draw much on the bus; but i did do a couple of sketches for the people who won them.
Thing is: They're half-assed, and down right ugly. And then i lost my folder, along with my paper portfolio. (ha, double PWNT. So much for taking that shit to the beach.)
Anyways, the offer's still up for you guys; i'll cook up a little something. Just don't know WHEN, but don't despair.
