Update 2021
Posted 4 years agoHey everyone, sorry I've disappeared off the face of the platform, so I'll cut right to the chase. 2020 is really the year that a lot of stranger events happen, Puerto Rico got hit by multiple Earthquakes and now we have a worldwide virus killing a lot of people all because China refuses to take care of itself, but let's not talk about the bad news, let's talk about the good news that I have for all of you
2020 was the year I want to make a lot of changes that will affect every aspect of my life for the better. I would say, for a good portion of my life now, I've been stuck in a hole and haven't been pushing hard enough to get out of it. I want 2020 to be the year I begin to break out of the routine (or lack thereof) and work harder in every aspect of my life because it's clear to me now that the way I'm currently existing day to day is really awful for myself, but my life has not changed and it will not change unless I am the one to get that ball rolling
The reason I've been away is that... Well is because I FINALLY HAVE A JOB! :D
That's right your boi! Felix here finally got a job in a hospital as a janitor. Sure is not a job that everyone wanted, but a job is a job, and my job pays well. I started working at the hospital on June 30, 2020, and I been saving money, so I can buy stuff and help my mother financially. So ever since I have a job and my own money, I started to think to do some changes in my life
For one I planning to get into Digital Art! I love Traditional Arts, but I see digital to be the future of art. It saves trees since you're not wasting paper, and your art is already on the computer without the use of a camera or a scanner. And one of my other plans is that I am planning to build a computer since finding a computer is hard over the situation of the Coronavirus, so I am planning to build my own computer for the purposes of video editing, gaming, and digital art
So, 2020 may start weird for everyone, but I desperately want to be out of this hole that I was trapped in for years. I want to be one of the artists that posts regularly, gets involved with the community regularly, and generally is an artist regularly. So the reason I've been away is that my job keeps me busy and tire, they only give me one day off until they decide to change that, but other that than I am fine
So, I'd like to thank anyone who's miraculously still here with me, and I hope you all had a happy life, and most of all, I hope we all will have a fantastic Year.
I am Felix, and I see all of you later. :3

How to prevent art-theft?
Posted 11 years agoLet's face it. Art theft is a reality... We see it happen all the time... Once you post your work anywhere online, you’re immediately vulnerable to those who want to grab it and use it for their latest article such as t-shirt, to get views, etc. It's simply a risk you take by having an online presence.
And because art-theft are nothing more that cowards low life who have nothing better to do with their miserable life XD So, some artists choose to protect themselves by placing "watermarks" or just a "trademark" over there image. This means that they overlay a copyright notice of some form on top of their works to discourage others from using it without their permission.
So, does watermarks cause more harm than good? As an artists myself, I definitely understand the desire to protect one's work. After all, the images you create so hard are the lifeblood of your business, so why wouldn't you want to defend yourself from online predators who steal your art to win something when you lost?
In my opinion, the use of a watermark and trademark degrades the experience an Art Director or other potential client has when viewing your work, which is the last thing you want to do. But that is depend how you make your watermarkers.
So, what is a watermarker? Watermarking is when you imprint your name onto a piece of work. This can be to assert your identity onto the piece and it can be there to help prevent it's misuse for anyone steal it for you.
And what is a trademark? A trademark, trade mark, or trade-mark is a recognizable sign, design or expression which identifies products or services of a particular source from those of others. So, to get to the point of this I will give you a couple of recommendation to fight back against art-theft.
The first recommendation that I will give you is that if you draw something and you want to protect it for cowards art-theft. Then you need to post a watermarker or a tradermark, but both watermarker and trademark as to be a logo that people recognize as you.
In other word a logo a graphic mark or emblem commonly used by you to aid and promote instant public recognition. Logos are either purely graphic symbols/icons or are composed of your name like a signature. So, both watermaker and trademark as to be a logo that people can easily recognize a artwork as your.
The logo can be anything such like a signature (the way you write), a favorite faction that you like on a media, a mascot for a media like video game character or anime, your own account icon or a logo that you original made up aka a original-logo.
As long the logo it's recognize as your. You so use it so people can recognize your artwork as your, and if the logo is a original one better :=) People will easily recognize it and as long the logo is popular with your fans the better ;=)
With that out of our way the second recommendation is the size of your logo, and with that I mean that the logo as have to be not so larges or small it have to be the size that people can see it and you have to place the logo on a place where people can see not included the middle part of your artwork.
Also never make your logo transparent after all you want your views to notice your logo right? So, remember the correct size of your logo it's very important and the direction that you place it it's also important and it could be right or left in the bottom of the artwork.
Watermark and trademark your art many upload sites offer marks with their logo on it, or you can create your own in your art program by creating a new layer with at least 50% transparency with whatever design you want over top of the picture as long it recognize with your views as your logo may represent the perfect opportunity for you to showcase what defines your artwork and your account.
Monitor your art and speak up if you notice someone using art that you recognize as your own, double check, and then inform that person of what they've done, as they may not be aware that what they are doing is considered art theft, and if you see someone using art that belongs to a friend of yours, or even just someone you know, tell that person and then they can deal with it however they please.
Also cooperation is need on this like helping each others in this situaction to deal with art-theft in strength in numbers! And also evidence you want the administrators of the site recognize the original artist like provide a link to the original artist's gallery or webpages etc.
I understand that some people things that logo, trademark or watermarks whatever you call it can be ugly and annoying, but if they protect your art then it's a good thing for your artwork so make sure the mark it's in the correct size and it will not ruin your work.
I do not want this community to become a place where artists are afraid to share because they fear that their art will be used without their knowledge. All I ask is that as a community, we work together to keep an eye on this problem and make sure that it doesn't become something that we all regret.
Thanks for reading and hope this helps a lot and if you couldn't understand what I write... Well I'm sorry for that ^_^; I may one day make a vocal-video about this it going to be a little more easy for me to help you out.
