My thoughts on Mass Effect 3 and its ending [Spoiler free]
Posted 13 years agoTo be fair, I wasn't all shocked by the game's ending as I had read the spoilers about a week before... unfortunately the ending sounded so far-fetched from those leaked details that I dismissed the thought of such a silly conclusion...
... Perhaps I should not have done that. Because unlike the endings to other games I have played in the past... This one did not make me smile.
Without going into detail, I will say that overall I enjoyed Mass Effect 3 greatly. The gameplay, story and side quests were all very well executed. I even enjoyed the DLC From Ashes because of the interactive segments it creates for the story after the mission is completed. However, the ending was a pretty hard let down for the end of the trilogy... Mostly because of the major implications EVERY ending choice created for the Mass Effect Universe following the Reaper incursion.
Needless to say this issue has me on both sides of the fence. Because I respect Bioware and the Mass Effect franchise greatly, I can't argue with their reasons in wanting to end Commander Shepard's tale this way... Mostly because we know that Bioware is going to continue the franchise with a sequel or prequel (hopefully sequel). I respect the creative right of storytellers to do with their creation as they see fit.
The die-hard fan in me would beg to differ, saying that Mass Effect 3's ending was a soul crushing disappointment due to the events that occurred in every end sequence. To me Mass Effect 3's ending mirrored the Deus Ex series endings, which while I think were appropriate ways to end those stories, shouldn't have been attempted with Mass Effect 3's complexly detailed universe.
Lastly, while this interests me to see how the Mass Effect story continues after Shepard, I have to say I am at my wits end with discussing the ending both physically and emotionally. Many people have some ingenuous theories on how to interpret the ending and I like that. But seeing how this seems to have had such a devastating effect on the Mass Effect fan base, my advice is to allow at least a week to go by before doing so more.
This being said, I'm going to spend the rest of my evening drawing Mass Effect fan art and playing multiplayer, focusing on the universe that Bioware has previously constructed for us, rather than allow a story's bad ending to get me down.

Quarter over... Let break begin!
Posted 14 years agoSo I finished my Fall classes with adequate grades. Not great just meh. Hopefully if not this week then the next more likely I'll be uploading some drawings. Been awfully busy with classes... and Battlefield 3... and Skyrim. < w <
Something I need to work on is my addiction to contour drawing. What brought my grade down in my drawing class was my poor figure gesture sketches. If anyone has any resources or tips for gesture drawing I would greatly appreciate it. Mostly because I'll be applying it to art I upload here too. :3
In other news, its my birthday tomorrow. I'll be 22. Not really a big deal. Hell I didn't even know what I wanted until today... a new computer screen because the one I'm using got all fucked up on the drive home from school. >:c
Anyway had been wanting to update this for the longest time. To all that read this have a Happy Thanksgiving!

UPDATE: New computer inbound...
Posted 14 years agoSo... Ive been due for a new computer for a while but until three weeks ago it want absolutely necessary. Its come to that the littlest of applications would cause my display to black out from Photoshop to minecraft. So i pretty much took about half the money i have in my savings, and chucked it for a new computer... AN ALL POWERFUL GAMING AND MEDIA DIY DESKTOP RIG. By next week I should be back in business and will definitely have more digital art up.
There... now you no longer have to see a journal from spring break. Yay :D

Fuck Spring Break
Posted 14 years agoJust posting some old art work I've scrounged off my laptop. Got so much to do and so little time.
If you're wondering about the title, I hate spring break... Coming from the person who isn't getting one. Not even the week off for Easter. It's cause I go to a school that covers 4 classes worth of work in the time period of about 10 weeks and we haven't a moment to spare. I'm also over worked though I wouldn't be if I just started assignments when I first got them but the grave is already dug. The only positive about this is that when I graduate (which could be in a couple more years cause I'm switching majors) is that I'm almost promised a job wherever with a diploma from it. Considering the job market, its worth every penny. Almost certian my GPA is going to be over 3.0.
Thus concludes my rant... about stuff. Well we're done here.
