Updates ‘n Stuff

We’ve moved! We’re still in Southern California, but we’re in an actual house instead of the trailer! AHAHAHAHA!
Soon I’ll be in the portion of unpacking where I can get my drawing setup properly operational. I’m going to do owed commissions first, and then I’m thinking about opening one or two monthly commission slots. We’re sorting out a restructuring of comic production and it requires a little extra income, so stay tuned! I’m dying to tell more of Henry’s story, and fill you in on the Bloodhounds, too.

Dragoneer and FA

Though I never got to know or speak to Dragoneer, I have seen the outpouring of love and grief from those who did. He seems like a wonderful person if this site is anything to go by. I am grateful for the opportunity to enjoy and find artistic release in what he has created. My prayers go out to his family and friends, both irl and virtual.
If FA does close down in his absence, I still want to keep in contact with my dear marvelous friends here. I have an X/Twitter where I am quite active if you wish to visit, but I also have my email, dearshuldraws@gmail.com. Apart from that I do hope to stir some life back into the Nascosto website soon. And a very happy New Year to you! Here’s hoping that we get a better model than the last year. I have sent my complaints to the manufacturer… I’m pretty sure the warranty should cover the mess that we endured. At least, partially.
So, to cut to the chase, I‘m tipsy and in the mood for oversharing. I think that’s the best trigger warning I can give. Ready? Here we go. Chronic hives suck. Angioedema sucks. I have both and we don’t know why, but our best guess is stress. You know what doesn’t help stress? 24/7 itching and painful swelling of the face, hands, feet, and digestive system.
I spent the days around Christmas looking like a denizen of Whoville. Go ahead and laugh. I certainly did at how ridiculous I looked. But according to my doctor parts of this have been going on for some time and I didn’t know it. That’s why Twiu/etc. has been on hold. I haven’t been able to handle it. I’ve just felt too sick and tired to function. It’s depressing, if I’m honest. I don’t want to let anyone down or lose traction, but here we are. My gratitude to those who have hung on through the radio silence. You give me hope and drive to keep telling stories. It isn’t in vain. I’ll make it worth your patience soon, I promise.
Anyway, I hope that the Master of Fate deals you favorable cards this year. We could all do with a bit of hope, I think. I love you lovelies and am very grateful for those who stick around.

There has been a lot happening in our lives —much of it health related and terribly draining— so online upkeep has been put on the back burner for a while. That said, I very much appreciate all of the friendly checking in from our online buddies (you know who you are, and I am so grateful for you)! We’re okay, and okay is enough to get by for now.
On a much happier note, happiest of Christmases from Team Nascosto! We hope the end of your year is blessed, the fae and nightmares don’t get up to any unwanted mischief, and the next year is a heck of a lot better than this one for everybody!

DearshulDealing With Some Stuff (Life and Commission Update)

This month has been difficult. We had to say goodbye to the family dog yesterday. Three of us went to see her off when she was put down. Around the same time my sister and I have been fixing up our childhood room for our grandma to move in with my parents. It's bittersweet knowing that she'll have a comfortable and safe place to be, but that a place where we've made so many memories together is about to change so drastically. My grandma's house --which she rents-- is about to be sold, so that's another hard goodbye. This house holds so many memories. So many of my dates with Mr. Lab were there before and after we got engaged. It's just a lot of goodbyes. It's hard.
Another facet of difficult has come from finances. I'm still working multiple jobs and struggling to keep up with commissions, which are making up a much bigger portion of our income than Patreon is at the moment. Because of this, TWIU has been put on hold for the month and we'll be refunding our supporters on Patreon. We're also going to be restructuring perks so it will continue to be possible to make headway with our comics/projects, but it will be unlikely that we can crank out an issue a month like before. There's just not enough time in the day or fight in my body to keep up with everything at one time right now. I apologize that YCH's have taken so long, friends. I'm working on them whenever and wherever I am able.
Thanks for all of the support, both emotional and financial. You lovelies are the best!

How have we bent the flow of time for him to be communicating in the present day? Honestly, I haven’t a clue. I doubt however it happened is good, though. Anyway, I’ll just leave these here… *places a stack of ten playing cards on an end table* maybe less obvious… *puts them in the end table drawer* Hm…maybe less obvious than that. *shoves the end table into another room and locks the door* Perfect. *wanders away, whistling innocently*

We’re in crunch time for “That Which is Unseen: Issue #3”, so unfortunately I will need to focus my energy on finishing by our early access deadline. (So much for weekly commissions. ^^’) That said, weekends will still be devoted to commission work in order to keep you from waiting too long. Your ideas are far too fun for me to keep on the back burner! I apologize for the wait and inconvenience, and thank you not only for your generosity in commissioning me, but also your patience.
I do have good news, however. Next month I’m only responsible for pose sketches, so I will hopefully have more time to tear through commission work. It’ll be nice to have some breathing room for a bit.

We are in dire need of funds while Mr. Lab goes to school, so I will be opening up two slots weekly for commissions while I continue to work on our comics. Unfortunately, due to time constraints I am strictly keeping to what is in my commissions list here on FA. I apologize to those who were looking for a sequence or comic from me. I just don't have the time for those labor-intensive types of commissions anymore. ^^'
I must also apologize for having to change my pricing. In the past my prices have been very low due to my view of my own artistic ability and my stance about making art accessible to everyone. The latter is why we make our comics available to the public after early access. Good storytellers speak to anyone who wants to hear. But, if we're going to keep a roof over our head (which is a legitimate concern in the near future), I can't feasibly afford to do that with commissions anymore. Again, I apologize.
If you have interest in reserving a slot, please contact me at dearshuldraws[at]gmail.com to ensure that I see your message! I'll be thrilled to work for you. And please, don't be afraid to let me know that you want a commission if my slots are filled for the week. You'll have a place on my waitlist and I'll get to your commission as soon as possible.
