ID - Imperial Security Bureau costume specs
General | Posted 17 years agoFor those of you out there who are interested in making an Imperial Officer outfit, here's some information that may help you out.
An Imperial Security Bureau Officer must have the following:
(These are required items for any Imperial Security Bureau uniform.)
Tunic:
- Fabric should be a medium weight, ecru/cream suiting material. Gabardine style weave is most accurate.
- Tunic is double-breasted with a left over right closure on the tapered yoke.
- Yoke comes straight across from the collar center not coming up to the shoulder seam.
- The standing collar has square corners and is about 1.25" (31.8 mm) tall and closes snugly and includes a modesty panel.
- The ISB uniform is lacking the standard code cylinder pockets.
- The back of the tunic has princess seams that run vertically and turn outward to intersect the arm-hole seam at the vertical center.
- Sleeves are long, and without decoration, cuffs or buttons, containing 2 seams, one along the bottom and one along the back.
Pants:
- Fabric should be a medium weight black suiting material exactly matching the hat. Gabardine style weave is most accurate.
- Straight-legged trousers are canon for the ISB.
- Pockets are acceptable, though they should not be visible with the tunic on.
- There are no noticeable cuffs on the pants.
Hat:
- Fabric should be a medium weight black suiting material exactly matching the pants. Gabardine style weave is most accurate.
- Base of the hat should be conical, with a crown about 4" (101.6 mm) tall.
- Front and rear "flaps" should overlap on the sides and be about 4" high.
- Front bill extends 3" down, decorated with 6 or 7 concentric stitches.
- Imperial issues disk positioned in the center of the front vertical "flap."
Belt:
- The belt should be constructed from a non-textured, black leather or a leather-like material, approximately 2 inches in width (up to 3" is acceptable)
- A single large snap or rivet should be visible about 1" (25.4 mm) to the wearer's left the buckle.
Buckle:
- The buckle should be constructed from a horizontally brushed metal, or metal looking material.
- The size should be 2 5/8" (66.7 mm) high and 4 1/8" (104.5 mm) wide with 0.5" (12.7 mm) radius rounded corners.
- Buckles are adorned with a Imperial Code Disk at the center.
Imperial Code Disk:
- A stepped cone shape appearing to be 3 disks stacked on top of one another.
- The bottom disk is 1" (25.3 mm) the middle disk is 3/4" (19.1 mm) and the top disk is 1/2" (12.7 mm.)
- There is an indentation in the center of the top disk about 1/4" (6.4 mm)
Boots/Shoes
- Lace-less, calf/knee high boots with a conservative heel and no buckles, Velcro, snap fasteners or decorative stitching (Examples include German "Jack" boots or English riding boots.)
- Lace-less, ankle high boots/shoes with a conservative heel and no buckles, Velcro, snap fasteners or decorative stitching (Examples include jodhpurs boots or Oxford shoes.)
Rank Bar:
- Worn on the left side of the tunic over the heart.
- Rank consists of colored plastic tiles mounted on metal bar.
- Bar dimensions: 1" (25.4 mm) height, length is determined by chosen rank
- Rank tiles are "clear" red, yellow or blue made of some type of plastic (i.e. plexiglass, acrylic, etc.)
- Rank tile dimensions are 1/2" (12.7 mm) width by 3/4" (19 mm) height and about 1/8" (3.2 mm) thick.
- Tiles should be mounted with 1/8" (3.2 mm) spaces between them.
An Imperial Security Bureau Officer should have the following:

- There is a dart of about 2" (50.8 mm) in the top center of the yoke.
- There is a seam running the entire circumference of the tunic, dividing it along a line hidden by the uniform belt.
Buckle:
- Canon buckles have a slight horizontal curve around the body.
Belt Boxes:
- Dimensions are about 2 1/2" (63.5 mm) by 4 1/2" (114.3 mm) by 1" (25.4 mm) thick.
- Boxes can be worn either vertically or horizontally on either side of the belt buckle.
- One or two boxes can be worn on either the right or left side of the belt, and symmetry is not required.
An Imperial Security Bureau Officer may have the following:

Pants:
- Jodhpurs are optional for the ISB uniform but as with any jodhpurs they must be worn with high boots, not low shoes.

- Semi-stiff flares to the hip/thigh area.
- Pockets are acceptable, though they should not be visible with the tunic on.
- There are no noticeable cuffs on the pants.
