2012-08-12 Update
Posted 13 years agoSure, may as well start putting datestamps on these things. I have a lot of updates. :P
Anywho, currently working towards getting half the apartment moved and shuffled to make room to replace flooring. This is not a good week for that. Plus, the lack of time to get to this ahead of time isn't very great either.
So, I'll be pretty busy and bogged down with renos, moving stuff, and stuff. So, I'm going to be a very tired wolf afterwards.
If you need me, I'm not here.... Much.
Sorry.

King's Island Stuff
Posted 13 years agoWell, I'm back in Canada now. Just got home under an hour ago as I write this.
I arrived in Ohio on July 27, around 3pm-ish. I made a surprise visit to
mr~morris, and we went around town for a while. On Saturday, I went to the first King's Island meet. Got to the IHOP a bit late, but still had a good breakfast. Met Neko, Kerk, and many others that I unfortunately forget. I also met later that day
Dexter_1983,
~ami~,
whitekitteh, and a few more. Again, my memory isn't the best.
After getting lost from the group, again, last seen was
KerkFikan and
Chayce in the que for Diamondback, I wandered for a few hours, and ended up having to go to the first aid station. After a little while there resting, I felt good enough to head back out. I made a few calls and eventually found Kerk. We got to go to a restaurant that I again have forgotten the name of, serves these great 3-way chili spaghetti dishes, very great.
On Sunday, I again met up with Morris. We went to a church nearby, which was quite a change for me. I typically go to a Baptist church nearby, but this was Lutheran, which I actually haven't ever been to. We later went to a game store to attempt to sell some game units, [if Atarii units with no extra parts included interests you, see
for info. They're near antiques, still look to be in great condition], and later to Speedway.
Monday, I do not recall well, but I believe I was working with Morris to upgrade my linux machines. That turned out pretty well, and am reasonably happy about that.
Tuesday, much similar, I don't remember a whole lot.
August 1st, the second King's Island meet. Finally got to meet
kenson,
RikkiRaccoon,
Punkcat and others.
Again, got lost. However, I was able to follow a tail the whole time. Or more lead it.... So, I wasn't really totally separated.
I got lots of pictures this day.
A huge thanks goes out to the furrs that donated some cash to help a hungry coon get breakfast. I'm sorry that I can't say who, because I don't remember, but you guys know who you are.
I also went on my first roller coaster that day, Backlot Stunt Coaster. Supposedly a very mild ride, I was barely able to pry myself off the front bar.
Doesn't sound near as bad as the one that
Mr~morris went on. Rikki managed to convince him to go on. I saw the start, and I have no doubt why he didn't want to go back on.
Thursday, spent a lot of the day with Morris, got pizza, saw Kenson, and played a few video games. More I watched. Kinda upsidedown. :P
And now being Friday, I spent half the day on the road. I will definitely have to go back. Plans are already incubating for me to move there permanently. It felt so much more like home than I do in Canada.
Pictures on their way, once I get a little more settled.

Coming to Ohio
Posted 13 years agoWell, I have the motel room, it's all set. I'm coming to Ohio next week. I'll be also going to King's Island in Mason, OH. for a furmeet hosted by the Ohiofurs group and a whole furpile of others.
Yay!
I got my cash converted, and I can say this to you Americans, you have very boring bills. At least Canadian currency has some color. :P
Anywho, I'm totally excited about all this, finally able to meet a bunch of y'all.
See ya in a week or so.

Lack of stuff calls for an "update"
Posted 13 years agoYeah, I have nothing going on. Summer gives me very little to do.
At least I have one thing to look forward to. A single furmeet. Yes, I have a very boring life. I'm going to all of 1 furmeets.
Anyways, stuff is happening that isn't worth mentioning, mainly I coast through each day wishing there was something interesting to do. Not much else.
I'll letchyall know the moment something interesting happens.

Recent Immature Act - Please Spread and link
Posted 13 years agoFirstly, to those that are involved in this, if you wish to have this removed, I will do so immediately at your request.
EDIT: Please DO NOT comment any additional information about this. This is not about what happened. This is asking people to use some common sense and understand what your actions might do. Don't be careless, don't be stupid.
Seems the news has gotten out. Two dimwits figured it'd be a good idea to show the dark side of the fandom on a vehicle in broad daylight in front of people.
That's probably the dumbest thing I've heard.
Firstly, this not only looks bad for the people involved, it also shines the light on the fandom as a whole. Because these two wanted to be stupid, we're all threatened by it.
There are also reportedly five others who's jobs may be on the line.
I understand everything is being done to identify the parties involved in this public indecency. Hopefully after about two minutes talking with the boss, everything would be fine job-wise.
That doesn't fix the big problem tho.
All these conventions have been doing everything they can to put the fandom in a good light. That can become very difficult when people are showing the opposite of what is being said. This will take a lot of time to recover.
I ask everyone to understand the seriousness of this.
This is not only a violation of the law, but it is also lacking any common sense.
Please, before you go off and do something dumb, consider what it could do to the rest of us.
When you're out there in a fursuit, or with ears and tail, you're representing us. Don't mess it all up for everyone else. Just because no one knows it's you, doesn't mean it won't have any effect.
You want to yiff someone on a car? Do it on a bed where it belongs, behind four walls and a closed door, then photoshop it. Five years from now when you find that sitting on your hard drive, it won't make a bit of difference to you if it was on a bed or a car. It will to everyone else tho.
There's a reason why FA has content filters. Adult stuff is adults only. You're outside doing this, it sure isn't adults only out there.
We don't need this type of negative press. We have a hard enough time with them looking for it. Don't hand this stuff to them on a silver platter. Or a car hood.
TL;DR - We don't need more negative press. Think before you go all stupid and break the law and mess everything up.

*falls over panting*
Posted 13 years agoSeems no one here likes temperature below 74. It's cold in my den, and 79 in the rest of the apartment.
Yeah, I like my den cooler than others would be comfortable in. This is probably because any warmer, my eyes start to burn with the heat.
Of course, no one seems to care that I need to be cooler than everyone else. If needed, you can put on a sweater. If it's too hot, not much you can do.

Update
Posted 13 years agoWell, first thing to say is that I'm liking the new FA layout. Great to see that it's up.
As for my life, well, it's slow as normal. Waiting for summer to roll around, and hoping I can get my den cool enough to be comfortable. Biggest problem for me is that I still live with parents, which is terribly annoying, and so I have to work with them. If I had my choice, it'd be around 70 most of the time. They like 75 to 78. Yeah, I'm hot-blooded.
Anywho, stuff is happening that isn't really anything worth noting, I'm mostly waiting to go down to Ohio for the KI Furmeet at King's Island in Mason, OH.
I hope I can make it there.
I'm starting to go a little crazy with organisation and paperwork too, but that's just how I keep a small amount of my sanity. For the most part, I'm pretty crazy.
Typical me.
So, I'm alive, just bored.
Feel free to send me notes or emails.

Recent Events
Posted 13 years agoSome may have noticed that I'm not exactly myself.
I feel you should know why. Unfortunately, due to my privacy policy, I am unable to explain exactly why.
Let's put it this way. Stuff happened to someone I know, and I'm worried sick. I spent the past weekend feeling like someone blasted a hole through my chest.
More information should be coming in today, I can only hope it's good.
I just want to be done with all this....
If I seem sad, worried, or not myself, that's why.
I won't say more, and I ask that those that do know don't make it public. Not saying anything else.
TL;DR - I'm worried sick about someone and it hurts.

"April Fools"
Posted 13 years agoOk, so it's a day where people are stupid. They do dumb things. Lovely.
But can we do it in such a way that those that don't observe this "idioday", can be left out of it?
I've seen some really dumb things in the past. Some people just take it WAY too far. Honestly.
Gotta wonder how many people have gotten arrested for their poorly thought "practical jokes".
Can we at least do this in moderation? Maybe just upload some art that's been flipped up-side-down or something?

Yeah, I'm alive
Posted 13 years agoYes, some might wonder if I'm living. I am.
I'm still here, don't worry. I just don't post much.
What's been going on lately? Well, I'm approaching second full year of furry-ness, which is good. I think.
I'm slowly working on a few stories, which may or may not be published.
As for general life, well, it's life. What more do you expect? My back hurts like I was run over, and I have to check a wheel bearing on the car. It squeaks. A lot. I'm a bit concerned, so I'll be checking that in about two hours from now, once I get home.
I also got my websites transferred to a different hosting server. If you check and it gives you a 403 error, flush your DNS cache and try again.
My email is kinda weird now, not that anyone really talks to me anyways. :P
Not much more to say right now. If anyone wants to talk or ask me something, feel free to post a comment on this page or send me a note. I don't bite - hard.... :P
Edit: Got the car fixed, turns out it was a little stone stuck between the brake rotor and a metal cover plate. Took the wheel off, ran a knife through the gap, done. The only problem left now is the idle speed. It's running a little high. Put it in drive, it tries to fly forward. Going to have to take a look at that later. Just need to ride the brake a little harder when stopped. Or put it in neutral when stopped. But, shouldn't be too hard.
Also, huge thanks to one of my good friends for getting my email working again. I really greatly appreciate it.

Users Being Spam
Posted 14 years agoI'm sure many people have heard of someone over the years pretending to be someone else. Typically, a successful artist. They do a horrible job.
I just reported a user on DA, trying to be a user here on FA. Must admit, they were really quite pathetic.
"Hello My name is [[user]] and I from New York . I hope U will like my arts. And I please for more watch. I'm verry happy :D
I do comic [[name]] - U can find it there - [link]"
Seriously? This sounds like it was written like a 5-year old trying to sound smart.
If you're going to pose as someone, at least do it properly.
"I'm actually the president under a less-known name, trying to avoid the popularity. However, news has gotten out, and there's no point in hiding any more."
That sounds suspicious, however stupid it may be. At least it's not totally stupid like the other. "I'm a popular artist with severe brain damage and lacking ability to use proper english correctly." Needless to say, I'm NOT the president, I don't even live in the same country.
Basically, where I'm going with this, is that some people don't understand that it's really stupid to try posing as someone else. Granted, no one has any idea who I really am because of the anonymous-ness of the internet, however, I am me, and no one else is. You also can't try to be someone else. It just doesn't work.
I think the main reason people try to pose as others is because they;
-Lack a life to do useful stuff with
-Want attention that they see others getting, the "fanfare, red carpets", etc.
-Admire such people, and want to be like them.
I think it's safe to say most just want the attention.
Let me say something about that. I've been "popular" at one point. It looks great, feels great, until the euphoria wears off. Then it's just hassles trying to deal with tons of people talking to you all the time.
I find there's a difference between being popular, and being the only secretary of a massive corporation. One gives you a whole lot of people just wanting to say 'hi' and wanting a response from a popufur, the other involves business information.
Honestly, I don't care to be popular. Just give me a business to run. I'll have some "CEO" being the face of the company, looking happy, working well with the media, but the unnamed manager in the back room running the whole party, that's what I'd want to do.
Seems I've gone a bit off, but I don't think you'd mind a whole lot. This is just my train of though.
Anywho, back to original idea, users trying to pose as others, please, just stop. It's a waste of time, you'll get banned for it, people will hate you for it, and you won't get the "positive attention" you're looking for. If anything, you'll get a whole lot of negativity.
Want to be popular? CEOs, successful artists, all them, they didn't get to where they were by playing around. They did actual work. It took them a long time. Me? I'm still at the bottom. I'm simply doing what I do, and if I get popular, great. I really don't care. [Just use my email to contact me. I'll give that out later if I need to.] If I'm on the bottom my entire life, alright, that's fine too.
Anywho, enough from me.
Time for me to sleep.

Meep! Tagged!
Posted 14 years agoRules: Bleh
1. You must post these rules (DO IT).
2. Each person must post 11 things about themselves in their journal.
3. Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post, and create eleven new questions for the people you tag to answer.
4. You have to choose 11 people to tag and post their icons on your journal.
5. Go to their page and tell them you have tagged him/her.
6. No tag backs (unless it's a booty call).
7. No stuff in the tagging section about "you are tagged if you are reading this." You legitimately (AKA, really, truly, with all honesty) have to tag 11 people.
-
1) Do you own a tail of your fursona? If not, would you?
Do I? No. Would I? Sure! I just need the funds for materials, or to commish someone. Probably the latter, I'm not that good yet.
2) How likely or often do you wear a collar?
Likely? I would if I had a proper one. My home-made ones look dreadful.
3) If you had the choice, and money wasn't an object, what car would you drive?
Car? No no. TRUCK. Either a Kenworth or a Ford Ranger.
4) Who knows both you and your secrets the best?
Dunno. Who knows me? I keep to myself, for the most part.
5) Not including your own fursona species; what species do you find the most physically attractive?
Which looks best, apart from wolf? Canid?
6) If you had the ability to "live" though/experience a TV movie; which would you choose?
If I could be in a movie real life thing, like if the movie was real, which one? Dunno. Pirates of the Carribean sounds like a fun life to live.
7) Play tf2? Then what's your favorite class?
Yup. Sniper. I'm seemingly good with soldier too, demoman, I range a lot.
8) What job do you want to be doing in 5 years?
Security guard or heavy machine operator. Lurking buildings at night, or playing with oversized tonka toys in a giant sandbox.
9) What will be the next furry convention you'll attend?
Hopefully Anthrocon 2013, it'd be my first.
10) What's your favorite computer operating system?
Windows XP.
11) Who's your favorite furry artist, and, what's your favorite piece they've done? (link)
Um.... there's a lot of good work out there. To choose my favorite, I couldn't. Sorry.
I'm going to break this a bit, not add taggees, but I'll add some other questions that I like from other stuff.
"Not adding taggees!?" Yeah, everyone I know would have been taggied already. [Don't worry, I'm only mostly insane.]
A1) If you were given the choice to turn into your fursona, and it would be permanent, and the general public wouldn't react or care, would you?
Where do I sign?
A2) Do you prefer to use your given name, or your fursona name?
Fursona name, fur sure. Please, if you come up to me, just call me Silent.
Questions? POST COMMENT. Please!

Update
Posted 14 years agoBeen a bit since I've updated.
Not much to say, I'm bored out of my brain, and I'm not doing much.
Someone want to hire me? I work well.
I've been planning on going to Anthrocon 2013, hopefully I can still manage that. Donations are welcome, note me for mailing information since I don't have paypal or anything like that.
For the most part, everything's about the same. It's getting colder, and I might have some pictures to put up soon. =^.^=
That's all for now.

Help Send me to Anthrocon 2013
Posted 14 years agoI'm starting to save money for AC 2013, which I hear a lot of people I know will be at.
My target is 2000 dollars, which will cover transportation, registration, and other various convention costs.
1000 will get me there, 2000 will make me happy, and I'll do a bunch of free stuff for a while, 4000 should put me in Europe for a while.
I'm also open for comissions, not sure how that'll work, but I can do icons like what I have up now. I can't draw, but graphic design stuff I can do - logos, text-art, paper pads, I can do stuff like that.
Donations always welcome, unfortunately I don't have anything online. You would have to send a cheque in the mail. Note me if you are able to help. I'll see what I can do for something like Paypal or something.
Until then, all donations welcome, note me or send an email to silent (at) dects (dot) ca for mailing address.
Thanks for doing what you can, even if it's just keeping me sane.
Summary: Accepting donations, send note or email to silent (at) dects (dot) ca - Comissions open, text art, logos, paper pad (Digital, you must print), etc.

New Icon!
Posted 14 years agoDecided it was time for a new icon.
Went for a trend of mine lately, Binary Code! =^.^=
When converted, it would show my name, 'Silent Paw' and my website URL. Of course, it's so cropped that it only shows a few characters. Either way, looks good I think.
If anyone wants a custom icon, not drawn, let me know. I'll see what I can do.

Bad Dream (9/11 Related)
Posted 14 years agoI think with all the talk of the 9/11 attacks ten years ago, my mind went into overdrive and decided to make the experience real.
Keep in mind, this is a work of fiction based on real documentaries and firsthand eyewitness stories that I was forced to watch and read.
Inside the WTC, I think it was the second building that got hit, or the second to go down. I'm not quite sure of the order. Either way, the other one had just gone down. We were listening to the news in the stairwells, which I don't think could have happened because of the noise, and the fact that I don't think they put news speakers in the stairwells.
Anyways, we were going up several floors, I was in a group of about ten, a rescuer, two lawyers?, and a bunch of other workers at the WTC, many of them had some injuries, probably had been near a fire when it started, but they were cut up pretty bad, burns, it wasn't good. We were all going up, which made me immediately assume that we had already received word or found first-hand that there was a blocked area below us. I was trying to get everyone to hurry, but maybe it was just me with an excessive amount of energy, as I had just appeared. I think I was the only one that knew that the tower we were in was going to collapse soon. Exactly when, I wasn't sure.
We traveled a few hallways, stairwells, and eventually ended up going back down, a clear path. I can only assume we were one of the first groups out, maybe 10 others before us, about the same size. One man I was accompanying, wasn't getting the idea that the tower was going to come down. He was travelling slowly, which I can understand. Going as far as he did, would be a hard task.
"The door's right ahead!" I called to him. He just saw the landing, didn't think we were actually on the ground floor yet.
"Great." He said sarcastically.
"No, really! Out this door, and it's right there!" I called back. I went out, pointing to the door. His pace quickened a bit, eager to finally get out.
I ran out the door, thinking the tower was going to come down any second. We were the last two of our group.
Thinking of it, dreaming it, never can fully understand what it would have been like to be there. Waking up was a relief to me, knowing that I wasn't actually there. Unfortunately, being there, you can't wake up. What started as a normal day at the office, turned to tragedy. I hope that those that survived are able to live, and continue with these horrific events burned into their memories.
The rest of the rescuers and workers, and whoever else may have been there that lost their life, rest in peace.

Upcoming Events
Posted 14 years agoJust to keep y'all updated, there's a birthday night thing tonight, so I'll be gone for that, then on Aug. 30, I have to go to some registration thing for upcoming year, then I loose much of my time on Sept. 6 and on.
Lovely.
Anywho, if anyone's willing to do art for me, I'd love to see it. I'm just putting it out there that I'm accepting gift art if anyone wants to do it. If not, no problem.

Ask Me Questions
Posted 14 years agoI've seen stuff like this around, may as well give it a try.
Ask me whatever.
Note: I'll try to answer every question, but I do reserve the right to remove stuff if I don't like it. Won't do it unless I really have to.

'New' FA Fad
Posted 14 years agoSeeing this, thing, as the banner here on FA, just makes me want to hide. Honestly, it makes no sense at all.
Can we all just keep this stuff to ourselves, and stop making such a big deal about deathly obese oversized rodents? No offense to rabbits or bunnies, but really now.
Let's stick to the actual cute stuff, that last banner with the fireflies, which I still have cached in my browser [It JUST changed :P ], was nice.
That's all from me, nothing else to see, just go back to your knitting.

Recent power failure
Posted 14 years agoAs recently posted on my twitter page, the power was out for about 26 hours. It went off at about 20.00EDT Saturday, flickered a bit, then stayed off.
The apartment was totally dark, with the exception of doors and windows and such. Fortunately, many had lights, and even more didn't use the hallway.
Everything is back up for now, but I think we're on a different power grid until the damage can be repaired. I heard there were downed lines, trees, towers, etc.
I haven't heard of any injuries, but apparently one family lost their barn and part of their house.
We're fine, nothing hit the town here, I just saw a few branches down here and there, nothing major.
As for now, we don't expect any major outages, unless they want to take off the power for a bit to change the grid that we're on.
Anywho, enough from me.

Moved in
Posted 14 years agoYou may have noticed I've been around lately. Yes, internet came early, and I'm happy.
Everything's all set up, and I've already started working with the superintendent. The best job so far is mowing the lawn. We also worked on some other stuff in unit 9, getting that ready for new tenants in august. I'm looking forward to doing more around here.
Anywho, I'm tired. Enough from me.
