Take Me Somewhere Nice.
Posted 2 years agoA place in a far away time.
Somewhere between now, then and "some day soon".
A seaside village
cradled by the mountains
shielded by innocence.
Where the sun can never beat the horizon in a race
Where tomorrow is an eager continuation
free from the addiction of worry
Where we can grow young forever
Where we can daydream
Where we can dream
Where we can daydream
and never ever have to wake up.
Tunesday #5: "Tired Boy"
Posted 6 years agoSince I'm hot garbage and kept up with the original schedule for about a week, I'll be changing Tunesday to simply one day a week on whatever day I can get a round to it (probably Wed/Thurs/Fri as I'm off these days). Once again I'll post a song that I've had on repeat or have always had a special place for.
My musical interest span multiple genres and artists, its going to be inevitable that I post songs you don't like and songs that you . I encourage you to discuss what it is you do or don't like about the song or type of music. Be civil, we're all just here to jam -- music shouldn't be a volatile topic.
I was turned on to Joey Pecoraro by my roommate and immediately knew he was going to be one of my favorites. I like to call him the "Coffee House Nujabes" because of his emphasis on the use of softer synths, standard pop bass lines with lo-fi horn riffs all wrapped up in a cozy slow tempo. If you're looking for homework music, check out his albums "Tired Boy" and "Music for Happiness". You wont be disappointed.

Monday, I go into work to find out one our team members had died. She was my age, we were in the same hiring class, we saw each other every day for about 3 or so months. We weren't all that close, but she was part of the pack - as you are when you spend time with a group learning and training. I hardest day at work I've ever had, I cried and kept it together until I cried again and then put it back down until I couldn't again. I couldn't stop thinking about how her husband must have felt, how the rest her family felt, her friends. When I walked into work Monday morning, she was alive, when I rounded the corner to the briefing room she wasn't. That broke me...Christ, what it must have done to them. I was going to ask her for some advice about being in the army as my little cousin will be shipping of to basic in a few short week. She was a strong, forward and admirable human being. We have no information as to how -- but that doesn't really matter to me, she's gone -- thats only message that matters. Life doesn't make sense.

David Maxim Micic is a Serbian composer and guitar/piano player who's been at it for years. He makes larger-than-life, guitar-centric concept albums that always blow me away with how deep and complex they are. This song is from his Bilo 1.0 album that is now 7 years old, but just as great a listen now as it was back then. If you're into sweeping jazz-fusion and/or highly technical music, David is a shining star right along side the likes of Plini, Owane, Jakub Zytecki, Aaron Marshall (Intervals) and Sithu Aye.

Dirty Three is fantastic and has long been one of my favorite musical groups.
