Well I posted the first of my newest art today. It's my first foray into anthro artwork, and it definitely wasn't easy. I practiced for a long time (and have no intention of posting my earlier attempts and WIPs) and after some help from friends and a lot of references, I've finally got my first drawing done and colored, so I hope you all enjoy it. I'll try to draw more, but until I can really get better I'll just work on my writing first.

Now, the second topic of this journal concerns a longtime favorite of mine: Chiptune & Videogame Music.

I LOVE chiptune.

I've grown up playing on old-school gaming consoles like the Gameboy, NES, SNES, and Genesis, and loved the music immensely from their games. My favorite soundtracks are from Super Metroid, Top Gear, Sonic the Headgehog, Pokemon Red, Super Street Fighter II, and more. Because of this love, I enjoy listening to chiptune music, whether it is an "8-bit Remix" of a modern song or just a remix of classic game music, I love it.

And since I recently discovered more chiptune artists on FA, you can bet you'll be seeing more of them in my Favorites!

First off, I love writing. It's one of my biggest passions. One day I hope to become an author with many published works that people enjoy. Until then, I'll write stories that appeal to a much smaller, but still widely open audience, which is why I have my stories now.

However, one thing that concerns me, is when I post a story and get zero feedback on it. I'll see the page views go up, but no one says anything. Did they like it? Did they hate it? Is there something that needed to be improved? Was it fine just the way it was? Things like that race across my mind and drive me mad. I worry that no one enjoys my work because no one takes the time to say anything about it.

Even something as simple as "Awesome story, keep it up!" or "Nice read, I liked it", or even "Meh... it has potential." is better than silence. I thrive on feedback, as I'll never become a better writer without it. Constructive criticism is another big thing for me, because if there's a way my story could be better, tell me! I know that a majority of my readers won't comment, and that's fine, but when no one comments on a story, or the page view-to-comment ratio is way, way off, then I have a problem.

For example, on AGNPH my current statistics for "The Ongoing Adventures of Krad Dashow" is as followed:

Alright, so no one really enjoyed it enough to fav it, but two people were kind enough to leave a comment. I'd consider that fair enough if it weren't for the large number of people who read the story and said nothing about it. Perhaps they just didn't like it... After all, it only has a 4 out of 5 star rating.

What this tells me, is that only 4 people liked it, but only one liked it enough to comment on it. It has a better rating of 4.5 stars out of 5, yes, but it's still not a very good story.

Is it the pairings? The plot? I don't know because no one tells me! If my stories are that terrible, then by all means, I'll quit posting them and move onto something more worthwhile, and if it's only porn that you're looking to read... then I guess I'll just have to swallow my pride and write more smut. If this is the only way to get my writing noticed, then perhaps I shouldn't even be writing at all then.

Again, I love writing, but I see no point in writing a story I know no one will like nor read. There's even a saying I came up for this:

"For many, ignorance is bliss, but for me... it's torture."


The ignorance? Not knowing what people think of my stories...

I'm thinking of creating a "Human Furry" club/group here on FA. As of late I've come across a lot of "furry" artists and writer who rather than listing an animal or fursona as themselves, are instead declaring their humanity, just as I am. I almost feel like we're a minority here, as mostly furries are welcome and humans are, well... shunned. So I would like to make a club to not only welcome Human furries, but also to act as a gathering point for us so that we can find each other and share stories or whatnot.

I don't have the faintest idea on how to start a club, so help would be appreciated. Also I'll need help on getting it started, so are there any takers?

To be honest I'm dissatisfied with most of the drawings I've posted and wish they could have been better. Even my story that I spent hours on working could have been better.

I don't believe I've introduced myself yet, so I think I shall. My name is Derek Jeremiah Stevens, age 19, and I'm here due to my fascination with Pokemon (and by "fascination", I mean the NSFW kind).
