Atlanta with Jas...Heaven on Earth
Posted 18 years agoHeh, if you can't guess, I have been able to get away and spend some quality time with my Wolf! Well he actually had to go to work today and I am just impatiently *wink* waiting for him to return. It is just after 5:00 PM (EST) and that means he will be home within the hour and then our weekend will really start! Ye gods why is time like a snail sometimes?
Oh and also, I just want to send a shout out to a friend who is up at Fur Fright...hope you have a super fantastic and successful time!

My Jas' Paws
Posted 18 years agoI know it's been awhile, trying to get back to reality and missing my Wolf and I am so impatient to see him again. But funny one of things I miss the most are his hands. He calls them his "paws" because they are big and broad. "I could never be a surgeon." he'll often tell me when I tell him how much I love his hands. They are the hands of the artist and hard working Wolf that he is and I would not have it any other way.
If you want a comparison look at Michaelangelo's David. The hands are large in proportion to the piece, but they are facinating and so detailed they almost seem alive. Those are the type of paws Jas has...and when he strokes my face, sometimes it humbles me how gentle he does it.
Goddess how I miss him!

Bittersweet
Posted 18 years agoReturned from St. Auggie, FLA two days ago...had a wonderful time. Jas and I...well, he's...*blush* wonderful is too mundane a word. But as with all vacations...there was the parting, and though I know I'll be seeing him in a few weeks again, my heart wants to kick my butt for leaving...
I guess all of you who have that special someone know the feeling.
One must get through the sadness of being apart in order to again experience the joy of reunion...and all that comes with it.

America the Beautiful - Epiphany
Posted 18 years agoAs per usual, since it is just before the 4th of July, we sing the song America the Beautiful in church (we also sing it at Thanksgiving - due to the 2nd 'pilgrim's feet' verse). And yes it is a beautful song and one that sends a message for unity. But today, singing it during Mass, we sang all 4 verses, and when we began verse 3, something inside me 'clicked' and I knew that there is so much more...
Verse 3:
Oh beautiful for heroes proved
In liberating strife
Who more than selves their country loved
And mercy more than life
America, America, may God thy gold refine
Til all success is nobelness
And every gain Divine.
Yes this had always made me think of our men and women in the military, but that line about "thy gold refine" always seemed to throw me. Until today. When the words passed my lips, I understood that the 'gold' are the 'heroes'. Those willing to sacrifice so much for others, and through their strength and courage make us all a better people. Where the ultimate goal is Right. And like gold, these men and women are precious. And very hard to find just anywhere.
So to those of us who will be celebrating America's independence this July 4th, take a moment in your celebrations and remember all those who do their best to keep us in the way we have grown accostomed to...being free.
Happy 4th of July!

Passing from Behind will Get You Ahead
Posted 18 years agoFunny, this is what popped into my head as I was actually passing in my usually assertive - ok today I was more on the aggressive - style while commuting to work.
You see I am not one of those idiotic morons who feel that they absolutely have to race from behind you, pass you and then get in front of you only to get off at the next exit which is only seconds away!
No, you see I prefer to let one pass in front of me (or move over first) then get behind them, speed up and then move to the lane on the side, pass, and then leave them in the dust. It is so much more satisfying to know that their brief triumph of being 'head of the pack' has now been stomped on.
LOL, I know this has got to be some subconscious metaphor for something deep and dark within me. But I just look at it as a life lesson. After all, a person will display a lot more aggressive reaction if they see someone try to get in front of them first. However, if you bide your time and come up from behind, the results can be more...rewarding.
Or I just need to get into therapy for my latent maniacal tendencies...

Memories of Innocence
Posted 18 years agoWhile stuck in 128 traffic southbound (I had been in Salem, MA today) I was tired and grumpy and only focused on one thing...getting home. For those of you who drive on some man-made hell of a highway can understand, I was only seconds away (at least in my mind) of flooring it and smashing into the idiot in front of me that decided to cut me off to move forward a whole 3 inches...
Then, low and behold, in the clouds in front of me and the setting sun behind, a rainbow appeared. Slowly starting from my left and began stretching across the sky until a huge full arch was made. And while I watched (all the while my eyes were flicking back down to the car in front of me making sure I didn't actually run into it), a feeling of amazement flowed through me. But it was not one of adult interest, but the way I used to feel when I used to see rainbows as a child...awe that such a wonderous thing could appear in the air. Oh some part of my mind did the whole scientific explanation of light reflected off of the water droplets, but I kept on looking at the colors and repeating (I know you artists will appreciate this)... ROY G BIV...lol. Then another amazement, a single rainbow birthed a mirror twin! Smiling,I thought of how close it was so I could probably find the elusive pot 'o gold. And thought of all the pictures I had drawn of sunshine and rainbows.
Funny thing rainbows. As it slowly began to disappear now towards my right, I didn't feel as upset as I had been prior to Iris' bow. I was still stuck in traffic, and it still took me over an hour more to get home, but somehow life wasn't so bad.

Counting the days...
Posted 18 years agoYou know, June has really flown by. Can we have just passed the Summer Solstice?! But what ever the case, I can't wait until the weekend after the 4th of July. St. Auggie, FLA here I come! LOL Haunted lighthouse, dolphins in the water, lovely beach-time...but most important, 3 wonderful vacation days with my Jas! No family, no friends, no hassels!

A new place...
Posted 18 years agoHere it is just past 11:30 at night and I have found a new place that is just filled with an aura of life and adventure. Hmm...perhaps Spotty (that is SpotWeld) was right and this is a place that I'll be spending some time at.
I wonder about the locals...
