North Carolina Trip Report
Posted 12 years agoA month or so ago I put in for some time off to get out of the hell hole that is my job. Words can not describe how excited I was to find out I got approved without issue; especially since I haven't acquired vacation time yet (which means no pay during that time, but eh, I get away from work). I counted down the days and all my co-workers knew how much I wanted to get the fuck out of there and get a decent vacation since I haven't had any real time off since I started 9 months ago.
Anyway, the time came (20th) for my last day of work before vacation. I prepped in the days prior (oil change, clean car, recharge filter, etc), packed after I got back from work at 7 am and then slept the whole afternoon to get ready for some night driving (soooooooo much better than CT -> NC during the day). I went with
to grab some chinese then hit the road. In total the trip took ~8.5 hours, and had no problems the whole way down. We stopped at Denny's to get some breakfast and kill time (since we were a little early).
Afterward we headed to my parents and just sat outside until my mom let the dogs out. I had the keys, but since my parents had no idea we were coming down I did not want to get shot (dad sleeps with a loaded pistol....house has been broken into a couple times) We sat outside chatting for about 45 min before my mom let the dogs out, and she was ecstatic to see us (more so when I said we were staying for 9 days). Both my parents skipped church that day so we could spend time together. My brother was coming over around lunch to help my mom with something and she didn't tell him about us being there. Once he came he texted his wife telling her to come over for dinner after work, but never gave a reason. So once everyone was there we had a nice family dinner (something I miss a lot now that everyone lives so far).
The following week we were there was full of happiness, fun, adventure, and southern hospitality. Everytime I go down there I enjoy how simple, laid back, and cheap everything is. The pace is so much different from the northeast. Also despite being on vacation, I ended up waking up every morning @8:30 being refreshed, unlike here where I hit my snooze button for a couple hours and get out of bed 11 on my days off.
(cutting this a little short since I am writing this before work and realize I need to get ready )
While down there we shot a bunch in my backyard, went to a beer class with my brother, chopped down trees using bother an ax/chainsaw (this eneded up with me getting poison ivy on my arms, legs, chest, back, and a bit where a guy doesnt want it....but on steroids now and it is starting to clear up), even got lifted up in the bucket of a backhow to cut down branches with the chainsaw (my inner redneck was happy), had a bonfire, and went to the arcade a bunch of times to play some skee ball, mini golf and ddr.
We also went to the Raleigh Flea market where we ran into
&
who happened to be suiting there.
I could go on but need to get dressed for work, go pick up my chinese food, and start by time back at work with a wonderful 16 hour shift >.<
God I need to get out of this state. If pay was higher in NC I would move down there.

Posted 12 years agoAnyone here play free WoW servers, more specifically Molten WoW?
As those who have played WoW know, it is like a drug. But like any good drug addict I try to find the cheapest way to fuel my addiction. I played WoW back in the day (before any expansions) and quit after the WotLK beta (YAY LIFE), but about a year ago I found myself a dealer that offers my fix for free.......Molten WoW. I stopped playing for a while but feel like getting back into it. Have a couple high levels (85 Worgan Rogue, 80 Goblin DK), and working on a Tauren druid right now. Looking for more people to play with since private servers aren't as populated as official servers.
BTW the server I play is Frostwolf.

Posted 12 years agoNew Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Texas and Virginia.
What are states I am considering moving to?
That is correct! You move on to final Jeopardy.
Any information people have on these states is greatly appreciated.
What I am looking for:
1. Low unemployment
2. Lower cost of living than CT with a livable wage.
3. Nice people (hard to find in CT)
4. Gun friendly (past/present/expected future)
5. Activities (not boring like CT)
TMI Tuesday (eh, why the fuck not)
Posted 12 years agoI probably wont really get many questions (if any at all), but why not. I mean, everyone is doing it, so why not be a sheep and join the flock?
You know the drill. Ask me anything and I might answer it, expect most answers Tuesday into Wednesday since I work third shift and get really really bored.ATTN: Military Furs
Posted 12 years agoI am looking for some advice. Some of you may know I have been contemplating joining the military for some time now. What has stopped me from doing this in the recent months was my progress in the hiring process for 2 police departments as I did not want to get accepted to the spring academy if I set a date to go to basic training during the summertime. Well I am sad to say that the department I was furthest with fell through and with the second department, lets just say the edge I had over others in the process was lost. Anyway, this brings me to my point. Now that there is nothing tying me to any obligations this year (hiring process for police takes a while so I am not worrying about the academy anytime soon) I am able to push forward with my desire to join the military.
This brings me to my question I would like to ask all you military furs out there; what branch? My choice over the recent years has been the National Guard, but more and more I am contemplating the Army. One of my main reasons for the Guard was the "luxury" of staying in state (wherever I decided to live since I do not plan on staying in CT much longer), and not being moved around the country. But I can't help but feel I am a bit misinformed on this. I have always thought that by joining the Army (and therefore being under the control of the federal government vs state if I were to be in the Guard) they can move me around the country as they see fit. For example, if they wanted me to go to a base in Texas/Alaska/Kansas/Utah/etc for whatever reason they want, that I can be sent there for a undetermined amount of time. This is partially what drives me away from any federal branch of the military. Is this correct? What kinds of reasons would I be sent to random states? Would I have any say in the decision?
Also, join as enlisted or go OCS? I know if you have a B.A. you can join as either, and it seems some recruiters strongly suggest people with 4 year degrees to go to OCS rather than just simply enlisting. Is it wise to go this route, or is it better to start off as enlisted, then down the line if I chose to pursue OCS I can?
I know I can take these questions to a recruiter, but I feel they will just tell me anything I want to hear just to get me to sign since in essence that is their job.Just noticed I have been on twitter for ~1 year and only have 13 followers. I have come to the conclusion that I am a boring person. The State of Furmeets
Posted 12 years agoToday proved that young furs are ruining the fandom, as well as fur meets. When you are in a public place, be respectful of those around you, and keep your voice to an appropriate level. If you are inside, do not scream. I remember when I started going to meets 2.5 years ago. They were civil. People knew how to act, and I looked forward to seeing people and talking to them each month. Now its just a bunch of fucking pre-teen/tween/whatever the hell they are called now kids running around screaming about "furry pride" and bitching about people saying things about them wearing tails in public. Enough already! Go back to your mothers womb and don't come back out until you are mature enough to hold and intelligent conversation.

Posted 12 years ago
Any furs looking for a roommate near East Windsor, CT? Preferably within 5 miles. The daily commute from New Britain to East Windsor for work is taking its toll on my car and wallet (25 miles one way), so would like to find a place closer. I am very neat, quiet, mature, don't use drugs or heavily drink. I work 40/hrs a week so no fear of me not paying my share of the rent. Also would like to find a place/roommate who is 2nd Amendment friendly as I do own a few firearms (I am licensed and as responsible as one could be).
I have decided to grow a vagina...

Posted 12 years agoI am looking to upgrade to a smartphone sometime in the near future. I currently have Verizon as I am still piggybacking on my parents family plan. Up to this point I have never had a true need for a smartphone, but more recently I have realized how nice it would be to have.
I have been looking at plans and it seems the best way to go is prepaid/no contract plans, since it seems any contracted plan would run me ~$80/mo.....too rich for my blood. One plan that catches my eye is Virgin Mobiles "beyond talk" no contract plans. They are 3 tiered with prices/offerings as such $35/mo for 300 min & unlimited texting and data, $45/mo for 1200 min & unlimited texting and data, and finally $55/mo for unlimited everything.
No when I say "unlimited data", that means 2.5GB of full speed data per month. After that it is throttled. I have not really seen any other plans that offer similar or better for the price. I know for some 2.5GB of data goes quick, but to be honest I don't see myself really using my phone to stream netflix. I will most likely use it for messengers, FB, web browsing, and email so I shouldn't have a problem staying under 2.5GB. Even if I decide to stream Netflix while under 2.5GB, the throttled speed should be fine for email, FB if I go over.
Just wondering, anyone here have any experience with Virgin Mobile? Specifically in CT since that is where I will be mostly using it (central CT), but any insight will be great. Coverage? Dropped calls? Lack of service? Etc?UPDATE: Meriden Mall Meet
Posted 12 years agoI would first like to say that I hope everyone stayed safe during this blizzard. Try to stay off the roads today unless you really need to go out. I have no choice but to go out since I work in public safety, which really sucks. Anyway, on to the important stuff.
As of right now the mall meet is still going on (if the mall has power and is open that is). Since it is set up as just a time and place for people to meet up and hang out, I feel no reason to "officially cancel" it or try and reschedule (especially since it happens twice a month). You don't need to fret if you miss it since there will be another later this month. I would like to say though that if you are in an area that is still under snow tomorrow, use your head and be careful. If you do not feel comfortable driving on the roads, then stay inside. I don't want anyone to get hurt trying to get there.

UPDATE: Meriden Mall Meet
Posted 13 years agoIs has been brought to my attention that wearing tails, ears, paws, etc. might bring unfavorable attention to us, not by mall employees or security, but mall goers themselves. To prevent any possibility of verbal or physical injury, assault , or harassment I would strongly advise people NOT wear these things. While there is no mall policy against them, I would like this meet to stay a safe one and have everyone enjoy themselves without fear.
I hope you all understand the concern and abide by this request.
Thank you!First (bi-weekly) CT Furs Mall Meet
Posted 13 years agoA new year brings with it new fur meets. While bowling, restaurants, movies, etc. are all fun, there is one flaw......they cost money, and we all know furs are broke . That brings me to my announcement, the first bi-weekly (yes you read that right, 2 times a month) CT furs mall meet!!!!! What better way to hang out with fellow furs than at a mall?
Due to its central location and amenities (mini arcade, pet store, decent food court, and a pretty good variety of stores) I have decided to start this meet at the Meriden Mall Sunday, January, 13 2013 @ noon. The following one with be onSunday, January, 27 2013 @ noon.
I would like to make this a regular meet that happens on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of every month. This gives people a chance to connect more often with fellow furs.
A meet up location will be determined later this week, but I am currently thinking the back corner of the food court.
Suggestions are welcome.
Updates to come.

New Job & Updates on LEO Progress
Posted 13 years agoSo as of now I am still not a LEO (mew? ), but hopefully I will get some good news soon. Sadly, the last 2 oral boards I had I did not pass. Anyone who has taken one will know how stressful they are. If you think a normal interview is stressful, just imaging that x10.
On the bright side though my background investigation is going well. My investigator set up interviews with my references, went to my old house and talked with my neighbors, did a home visit at my current residence, talked to the neighbors here, and spoke with my mother, father, brother, and sister-in-law. No red flags have appeared in my investigation last I heard (and I don't expect any to). The investigator told me that I should know by the beginning of December about my status at the department. If I move forward it will be with a conditional offer of employment, which basically means I am hired if I pass the polygraph, psych, chiefs interview, and police commissioner interview (yea, still a lot more). So I am just crossing my fingers, because if I get a job at this department I can be in the academy in the spring. If not, I still have a chance with my 1st choice department (they still havent set a date for their written exam yet >.<).
As for how I am currently, I HAVE A JOB!!!! I currently work security for the largest independent auto auction in the United States.....well I am in training. Started training Monday, and I believe I continue till Friday before I start my messed up schedule of random 1st and 2nd shift days. I will have Thursdays and Sundays off, and sadly will no longer be able to make the CT Furs diner meet (work Fridays 2-10) . The good news is I finally have a source of income since I graduated in May. The past couple months have been hard just watching my reserves of cash get smaller and smaller as I tried to feed myself and pay for gas driving around the state taking police tests and looking for jobs. Hopefully I can finish my training with no problems.
Monday and Tuesday were not bad for training since they were relatively slow days. I mostly spent them scanning cars in and checking trailers. Today was tough though since I had to be up an hour earlier and it was auction day. Early on was not too bad. I trained on patrol for a little bit, then at the west gate checking tractor trailers, but the fun came around noon when they moved me to the east gate.....where the "fun" happens. I scanned out and inspected probably a couple hundred cars in my last 3 hours there, and while at times there was a slight backup in the line (when the scanner decided not to actually work), I don't think I did too bad of a job getting people out quickly without making any mistakes (at least I don't think I did lol).
On a side note, my mate
and her mother are talking in Polish while pointing at me and my mate is giggling -.-

Posted 13 years agoGamertag is Ezrail, and it is boring playing alone. I mostly play objective based multiplayer games (dom, ctf, etc.) but don't mind kill confirmed or team deathmatch. Zombies are fine with me as well. I don't suck and I actually play the game seriously (unlike so many of the kids that play the game >.<). Since I play objective my k/d isn't all that high (1.5), but that is usually because I am actually trying to attack or defend, and we all know that attacking a point alone can turn out to be a suicide mission lol.

Furfright Fursuit Parade Video & msg regarding pics
Posted 13 years agoFirst I would like to state that there will be no pictures posted by me of Furfright 2012. Wednesday night I packed everything and was unable to find my charger, though at the time I was not worried because my camera showed full battery. However, this turned out to not be the case. When I arrived Thursday afternoon I took some pics, and after about 10-15 my camera died. Unable to find anyone who had a charger, I was stuck with no camera for the duration of the con since it died before the con officially started. At least I was able to borrow
's camera for the parade. Quality isn't as good as I would have liked it, and it is slightly shaky (tripod is packed away with the rest of my life, far far away), but none the less it still turned out well......Enjoy!
Buy All The Monster Energy You Can (Before the FDA Pulls It)
Posted 13 years agoSo people people are claiming Monster Energy has been the cause of 5 deaths since 2004, and the FDA is currently investigating. Additionally, there is a family filing a wrongful death suit (which is what prompted the FDA's investigation) against Monster after their 14 year-old daughter died allegedly from drinking 2 24oz cans of Monster in a day. They claim Monster failed to warn them about the dangers of drinking their product.......*looks on the can itself* oh, would you look at that; "NOT RECOMMENDED FOR CHILDREN, PREGNANT WOMEN OR PEOPLE SENSITIVE TO CAFFEINE". Looks like a good enough warning to me. Why are people so sue happy in America?
Well time to crack open this Monster sitting next to me in support of the company that makes this delicious drink. Good luck to you and please, PLEASE do not settle out of court, you did nothing wrong.
I suggest you people (yes, I said "you people" lol) go out and buy as much of this delicious drink as you can before the FDA pulls it due to some stupid shit. (
I am looking at you)

Posted 13 years agoSo I scored a 97% on one of my police exams and moved on to the next step, the oral board interview. I was a bit nervous going in since it was my first oral board, and honestly I didn't think I did THAT well. Turns out though I scored an 88.3% on my oral board (YAY!!!), which means on to the next step.......the background check.
This is where the anal probing comes in. I have to fill out a personal history report - 17 pages of questions about every aspect of my life and who I have ever associated with (e.g. roommates names/addresses/phone numbers/age), bank accounts, and best of all, "On-line activity and internet involvement"..........yes, this includes all e-mails (past & present), social networking (past & present), and IM/Blog accounts (past & present).
It would be nice if they at least bought me dinner first.
